Reviews of Silvie
K. C.
I had a lovely dinner in Silvie tonight. I am so glad to see the dinner session has come back! I had Chicken legs with scallions for main, it is very tender and flavourful! And I had the tiramisu as the dessert, it is just fantastic! There is also lovely alcohol to go with the meal. The staff in Silvie are really friendly and sweet. This place just makes me feel at home. I enjoy Rosie the cat’s cuddle and the beautiful garden of course. Me and my friends enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere a lot! I’m going back for dinner again :)

This place is a hidden gem! I am not from Oxford, but I visited here for the first time recently to meet a friend, and I simply loved it! The decor is quaint and cosy, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the staff are efficient and friendly, and the food is delicious! My friend had mushroom soup, which she loved, and I had a cinnamon roll, which was the best I have ever tasted! When I am back in Oxford I will most definitely be visiting again!
P. J.
Silvies produced an absolutely wonderful vegan cake for our wedding dessert table. We had so many compliments from our guests, one of whom said that it was the best cake she'd ever tasted! So happy to support a small independent business too. We'll be back next time we're in Oxford.
C. W.
Tasty Espresso and Brownie – friendly service adds to their medicinal value!
D. V.
Incredibly cute and homy cafe with lovely staff members and nice garden to sit outside! Smoked salmon with sourdough was incredible and loved that they were using missing beans coffee! The garden outside was very lovely and all staff members were wearing masks which was really great too! Would love to come back again :)!!

It’s a little gem in Oxford. Staff is nice and friendly. Great interior and the garden is magical. Food is super tasty. It’s a little bit pricey but it’s worth it!
L. O.
Found this place when staying nearby and had breakfast. Staff friendly. Quirky vintage style. Slightly overpriced, veggie breakfast was nice but the greens were almost inedible due to salt overdose.
C. W.
Pickled courgette was insane. Some of the plates & mugs are very nice. Plants are gorgeous. Nothing not to love. Garden out the back is a dream.
K. G.
Delicious food! We stayed at Browns (the hotel attached to the cafe) so came down for breakfast in the morning. The food was lovely, staff super friendly, and we liked the charm of the place. Weather was good so we sat out in the garden and were greeted by the cat, Rosie, who loved a good fuss. There seemed to be a lot of locals coming to eat here, not just hotel guests. Would definitely come again!

Fantastic hidden gem on the Iffley Road, unassuming frontage leading to extensive inside and garden space.
Great food and coffee, thoroughly enjoyed.

Best brunch spot oxford has to offer! From perfectly cooked full English to pancakes to sour dough and poached eggs it's the dream. And you wont be able to resist their cakes, gorgeous!
E. F.
Mmmmmm, yum. Lovely setting too on a wet or cold day!
C. P.
Breakfast/brunch is great here. By far one of my favourite places to eat on a Sunday morning, or any morning. They also have fresh baked pastries that are to die for!
G. B.
Excellent choice of hot and cold food, drinks and cakes. Lovely garden area at the back of the venue
A. M.
Environment is first class. Coffee and cakes amazing, lot of choices and good value. The lunches are good quality but a little overpriced £8 for a toasted sandwich or soup 🥺. I would buy regularly if there were options for around £6
A. S.
Worth the price, really good food, excellent service, and a lovely garden hidden away in the back
J. M.
Greens for breakfast, loved it. Very tasty food, a little pricey but yum. Make sure you get say to Hi to Rosie the cat, she is adorable!
T. M.
Wonderful and distinctive place on the Iffley Road. High quality and varied food menu, friendly cat, beautiful garden and lots of TLC has been given to the indoor features. A little pricey but worth it. Deserves every success.
N. R.
Nice coffee, friendly staff and a lot of atmosphere. I had an espresso that was good even though the place doesn't seem to specifically cater to the specialty coffee crowd.
g. v.
I stumbled on this cafe tea room by chance and it's great I only had coffee and cake but both were excellent, if you are passing do go in just good.
S. C.
Sylvie's is a cosy, little retreat for coffee or lunch. It has several rooms and a conservatory, all lovely spaces. I highly recommend.
S. R.
Gorgeous little cafe with a relaxed vibe and nice garden space at the back.
M. H.
Lovely little neighbourhood cafe - with friendly service and downright delicious food. (Try the cinnamon buns - gooey and yummy!)
O. O.
Wow! Lovely lush food. It feels like somebody's house or maybe a dentist, but more welcoming than the former and less sterile than the latter. There's the sense that if you wander into the wrong room you'll find nanny knitting, or maybe auntie in a bathtub with her big toe stuck in the tap. But that's not what you find. Instead you'll find warm service from very softly spoken men, facemasks aplenty, lush coffee (Minor Figures oat milk, v bougie), and a truly splendid French Toast. The green bits on top look like jalapenos but they're actually green plums or some such. Really really good. Walnuts also? Some such. Marvelous. The table next to us was a couple who whined something rotten that the pork sausage was vaguely pink in the middle. They clearly don't know good pig meat when they eat it. I loved it. I'll be sure to visit my Aunt Silvie again soon. Be sure not to avoid it, ever!
C. K.
Very friendly staff and lovely decor. We were just really disappointed with the Ventas plate size for the price. 3 small slices of chorizo and very few potatoes. Left hungry. The vegan option was even more of a disappointment to our friends so not really the nice Sunday brunch we'd hoped for.
J. A.
The location is very cute, the cafe is attached to a hotel, so the inside of the cafe is reminiscent of a classic BnB, with tables spanning across several rooms. It definitely has a particular homely charm about it.
I ordered a cappuccino and a herb, brie & mushroom toast. The coffee was fine, but there is definitely better brews elsewhere. The toastie was also fine. It was enjoyable but I don’t think there was anything stand-out about it. Maybe I’ll opt for something else next time!

I've been coming here for quite some time to enjoy coffee and cake while working on my doctoral research. It is such a beautiful and tranquil place, with a great atmosphere, lovely service and, sometimes, a cat! Just on these terms I would give it top marks, but today I finally went for brunch and it was just delicious! I am still eating it now with a huge smile on my face!
O. E. Z.
Incredibly kind staff, a lovely setting and amazing food. All around very good cafe. Great coffee and pastries too. They’ve got a seasonal pumpkin dish that is amazing, not sure if it’s still on the menu right now
I. P.
Excellent food. A good place for a quiet chat.
M. B.
This place is very cosy and welcoming, feeling like you are in a BnB (because of the structure and decorations)🤩
A few weeks ago I went with a friend and I tried a pastry filled with chestnuts, carrots and lamb. Really special and particular mixture that ended up being just delicious and unforgettable!
The Spanish waiter said he brought the idea from "The Alpujarra Granadina", which brings me lots of memories from my childhood!
Really pleased to have visited and will do it again soon! :D
D. P.
Beautiful conservatory, excellent coffee, tea and breakfast amidst plants.
O. H.
My wife and I hired Silvie on a Saturday evening for a birthday party. We couldn’t have wished for better! The team were so helpful and friendly, and the food was just amazing! They went above and beyond to make our event special for us and all our guests. Such a wonderful place.
K. C.
Honestly, if you are looking for a treat, Silvies' is it! Just had the most delicious breakfast of roasted pumpkin with feta cream, it was dreamy! Not to mention all their amazing sweet treats! Particularly their cinnamon buns, which are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! 10/10 service, all the people who work here are absolutely divine and so friendly! 100% recommend
C. H.
Warm and comfortable rooms, homely, good linens, quiet, windows that open, fresh coffee on the landing. I didn't have a mirror near a plug in my room and they got that sorted in no time. Very friendly and kind. Helped me with room keys and parking permits for my large group.
R. H.
This place continues to impress me. Fresh, delicious food with an excellent menu that is regularly updated. Always very busy and I don't think you can book so be sure to arrive early if you have weekend brunch. They even do food items to take away. Love the branding and interiors. Can't wait to go back.
T. H.
Lovely little café, with decent amount of space. All breakfasts fresh and non-greasy. Loads of options and staff very happy to alert change things to suit. Can get busy on the weekends, but usually seated very quickly.
B. P.
Silvie is a lovely, lovely cafe that I cannot recommend enough. The food is very good. Or so I think - I might have been a little bit distracted by the magical atmosphere and the super cuddly Rosie the cat and so I don't know whether I paid sufficient attention.
C. C.
We have finally managed to visit following several recommendations. The Full Silvie was delicious and the portion sizes generous. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming; open fire and great tunes playing in the background. We will be back to try soon to try some of the homemade cakes. Highly recommended.
B. L.
Delicious food using good quality ingredients and great coffee with beans from the nearby Missing Bean roastery. Changing menu based on what's in season - brunch offerings typically include some combination of poached eggs, excellent bread, smoked salmon, fluffy american-style pancakes or flavoursome sausage. Staff are friendly and helpful and the place has a very homely feel added to by the occasional visits of Rosie the resident tabby cat. Gets busy at weekends and at peak times it can be difficult to find a table. In summer there's a quiet garden that makes a good suntrap. All in all a lovely café.
C. G.
Amazing location. Very good customer service. Food lovely. Pet friendly. Home made food tasty and fresh. What else??? Nothing...congrats to all the team. Covid rules put it on place. By the way, was or first time.
R. G.
Lovely friendly place, good food and welcoming.
p. l.
It is very quirky and looks as if it is furnished with house furniture. Full breakfast was tasty and we'll cooked but at £10 was way over priced.
I found it to be far too pretentious and typical of somewhere that is very"twee" and charging excessively for the privilege. Not the sort of place for me I'm afraid.
O. S.
Had an amazing sunday lunch here. Food was out of this world and all home made recipes. Generous portions and the staff are all very friendly. Highly recommended. Dog friendly too!
C.
One of the loveliest places to eat and relax in Oxford. So homely with delicious food and hot drinks. Such a beautiful and peaceful garden which is an oasis of calm in East Oxford.
E. G.
I had good full english breakfast. Liked the idea of replacing spinach with kale. The cappucine was good and so was the orange juice. For the five stars a nicer staff is required. I was welcomed with “we don’t allow laptops on weekends”. I was carrying an iPad and not planning to use it so did not bother. But, is this the best way to welcome customers? And by the way, welcome in the 21st century...
J. s.
Lovely local coffee shop that is very popular for coffee, cakes and amazing brunches. A great local business that has indoor and outdoor in the garden seating when the weather is good. A great find.
J. K.
A sweet little cafe in the style of a lovely English flat. The best is the beautiful garden, one of the best spots in Oxford, which is not ina college. And on top of that, the food is delicious.
A. S.
The is a very tasty location right on Iffley road. I was happy to come here on my final day in oxford with a good friend. He had a large slice of Guinness chocolate cake and I had both soup and goats cheese sandwich. The soup and sandwich was way too much food; the portions here are generous! And so tasty! I was sad to only go on my final day, but this place is good enough that, upon return, it is worth a special trip. Thanks, Sylvie!
S. N.
Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Very interesting and tasty sounding menu. Enjoyed the plates we tried and loved the furniture and decor.
M. W.
Really lovely food and coffee, but took too long to come out really. Need more staff for the number of tables. Great atmosphere and superb hidden garden!
E. S.
Pleasant atmosphere, nice food, and a range of options for all diets. Little expensive but worth it
J. S.
Great food, lovely garden, friendly staff, and an adorable cat. Can be quite popular for brunch and didn't have WiFi on weekends (at least when I went).
R. S.
Lovely cakes. Great coffee and tea. Nice ambience with lots of people chatting on small groups. The negative was on the service which was not so great.
G. R.
Friendly, chilled vibe with good coffee, tea and food. Perfect place to get a nice lunch or chill in the afternoon. Before 3pm laptops can only be used in front room.
O. Z.
Amazing cafe with a lovely garden. Great food, amazing coffee. It's a true gem. And it has a fluffy cat called Rosie.
J. D.
A gorgeous, friendly home from home spot to sit in the sun and enjoy seeing Rosie, the feline lady of the house.
