Started the morning with a really good cappuccino and an amazing Almond Croissant that was still warm when I bought it, then spent an hour inside Caversham Bridge before returning for an iced coffee and a Cruffin, which were also both really good. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back again when I'm next in Reading.

Great coffee shop in town. The pastry and bread are incredible and the coffee is really nice. The indoor patio is very cozy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They don’t have parking, but you can park off side.
Definitely a place to visit frequently .

Finally a worthy replacement for the Siblings cafe that closed down in Caversham a long time ago. Their light brunches are delicious and the coffee is great. If they only added a proper filter/V60 coffee to the menu, it would be the best. Staff is very nice and helpful and the outdoor seating is super comfy.

Best caffè in town, with nice pastries & brunches options, and friendly atmosphere. Combine it with a walk to Caversham Court gardens is warmly recommended 👍

I can't recommend the Collective enough. Such a welcoming place in both decor, inside and outside space and most importantly the staff. The coffee is great, cakes and food are all amazing. Absolutely love the place I'm so glad I found it

This is a nice little cafe. The food, drinks and staff are all on point. So why 4 star? It's a small thing but the door kept opening due to the wind! My left side was nice and toasty but my right side might as well have been outside...

Would definitely go back! A place I would definitely recommend to friends! Cruffin is heaven (for me!)

Had the most amazing iced coffee and 'cruffin' (croissant /muffin) today! That was an experience in itself, the fresh cream inside was divine!!!! I don't have a sweet tooth but this was exceptional! Fantastic service, great set up amidst corona virus. Fresh sourdough, eggs and garlic too and amazing selection of cakes. Really welcoming and friendly staff. I can't wait to go again!

Superb coffee. Delicious cakes. Late brunch and lunch options. I’ve only taken out from here as the seating inside is compact. Friendly owners & staff, with locally designed household & jewellery lifestyle items for sale. Very chic & carefully designed. Grab & go to enjoy in Caversham Court Gardens by the river opposite.

*Updating: Just to add that the outdoor space has only elevated my love for this perfect space. Sam & the entire team are exceptional...can not wait to spend some summer days, mornings, afternoons here.
My Caversham prayers have been answered!! An absolutely beautiful café (and lifestyle) shop that Caversham has been crying out for. Independently run by two amazing women (Susie and Sam) who make me feel so welcome every time I walk through the door....which has been....a lot!! I'll only upload pics once I can do the food and drinks justice but so far the onion bhajis baguette, the stilton and leek quiche, the salads the cakes, the milkshakes the bread and....the coffee have all been wonderful. Downside... possibly my waistline.
An amazing job well done opening in such difficult circumstances.

Amazing coffee and delicious breakfast.. Very friendly staff and cozy environment. The owner is very involved in making sure everything is up to standards.. Also keeps innovating/improving, adding new items to the menu and for example created a really nice seating area in back garden and just before the weather became chili heaters were added..

Not only does The Collective have serious curb appeal (if Sam did interior design I’d buy her services), the staff are lovely and the food is delicious. I recently had their vegan toastie and a gorgenius smoothie. The vegan toastie was divine and the star of the show? Vegetables. I love it when something feels like a treat, tastes great and is jam packed with goodness. Thank-you for bringing such a gem to Caversham.

One of the best spots for coffee in Caversham! A lovely lifestyle cafe super dog friendly and plenty of seating. Lovely cake selection too. Always worth popping in!
N. M.
Went for brunch and they had only one veggie option but they'd run out of one or two of the ingredients so couldn't make it - so had to make up my own brunch up because they kept offering me fish ..

Stopped for a flat white, sat in the garden. Lovely little space, decorated with black fencing/walls and white stones on the ground. A few plants dotted around to create privacy.

Wonderful lunch at The Collective. We had The chorizo and gnocchi dish and it was very yummy! We sat outside at the back and there was A nice overhead heater to keep us warm. Would highly recommend to those who want somewhere a little bit outside of the centre of Reading. We parked up the sidestreet and around the corner Where there is free parking on the side of the road.

Great staff and coffee, lovely atmosphere.. Thank you for opening in Caversham ❤️

If Coffee and Cakes is your thing then this is the place for you. Regular visitor for a takeaway coffee. A very middle class cafe.
As my gran would say "before you know it your one of the bourgeoisie, and brioche replaces bread"
As a side note they do a great sausage roll.
I. S.
This is a lovely place to grab a coffee before going on a walk by the Riverside. So far I've only done takeaway coffee, which is always great, but after seeing the reviews about the bread and cake I will return soon to try these too. Look forward to them opening properly post lockdown and grabbing a seat to work here as soon as I can

I love The Collective coffee shop. The staff are so friendly. The coffee is always perfect and the food is absolutely delicious. I have been going here since they opened and it’s the best coffee shop in Caversham. I recommend looking at the local crafts they sell. It’s such a unique place. Highly recommend going here.
T. S.
Very friendly staff......Great coffee.....Lovely atmosphere......bright and clean!

We had a scrumptious breakfast in a really cute courtyard. What's not to like!
K. F.
This is an absolute gem of a place, so lucky to have it in Caversham! I have enjoyed delicious lunches, coffees, fantastic sourdough bread and bought some gorgeous gifts and flowers too.The staff are so friendly and helpful, there is a great atmosphere. There is a fabulous outdoor area now, The Courtyard, which is gorgeous! Highly recommend ***** 5 Stars.
S. R.
Beautiful place to start your day. I will definitely come back for another cup of coffee.
S. W.
Such a fantastic and chic independent cafe in the heart of Caversham that does the most amazing brownies and mini banana bread cakes. The quiches, bagels and toasties are also scrummy yumptious. I don’t drink coffee but my friends love the coffee in there. Lovely friendly staff too. So looking forward to trying more on the menu...

The Collective really does bring something different to the area (In a good way!) and would throughly recommend a visit! A lovely coffee shop nestled in the streets of Caversham, it offers great coffee, cakes but also items for brunch/lunch. You can enjoy within the few tables indoors or venture into the cute outside area. What's more within the shop there is a great array of gift like items - think a mini Olivier Bonas! My only criticism would be that for anyone with food allergies at present beyond the standard alternative milks you are limited with food options - that said what you can have is delicious just don't expect a wide selection.
S. F. W.
The Collective just gets better and better! The garden is now open and is an urban Oasis. The food range is expanding and always so fresh and top quality. The coffee is divine. And the staff that work there are always so warm, friendly and helpful. They always boost my mood. Thanks for all the joy you bring so many of us!
R. E.
Very nice coffee and sourdough toastie. The garden is nice and has heaters.
C. E.
Love this cafe so much, excellent food, coffee and service today (as always!)
F. L.
Beautiful place. Such a lovely atmosphere, due to the friendly, welcoming staff and the gorgeous, local, handmade products for sale. The coffee tastes like real coffee! Kids love the milkshakes and the fresh cakes and sandwiches have to be sampled. Immaculately clean and by far my new favourite place in Caversham. Sam and Susie have brightened up the area during a very difficult time and I look forward to visiting every weekend.
B. W.
Fantastic little coffee shop with brilliant coffee, cakes, sandwiches, pastries, really lovely atmosphere and brilliant staff.
L. F.
This is my favourite cafe/coffee spot in Caversham. The ladies are lovely, the coffee is great and the baked goods are to die for - they sell the most amazing sourdough, cruffins and donuts from Rise Bakery, and the best cookies.
The cafe has a really great light and bright atmosphere too and sells the most gorgeous homeware - I’ve bought a gorgeous green glass vase I’m still in love with.
M. C.
Beautiful place, lots of natural light. Delicious sandwiches and coffee.

I've been at The Collective a several times since they opened this year both for takeaway and sit in.
The food is beautifully made, the space is tiny but cosy and very well decorated and the shop with local products is a nice plus.
The downside for me has been the service quality that noticeably dropped. On my last visit (couple hours to be out of the house for a bit) I did not felt welcome anymore, it was like they didn't wanted for us to be there.
My teas had much less water than normal on it (not to mention that I asked for a pot and they served on a paper cup, which is ok if you tell your customer beforehand that you're not serving pots and that was not the case), I didn't received any cutlery or napkins to eat my cakes the lady just dropped on the table and didn't care about asking if we need anything else... I've also asked for a second glass of tap water that never came.
I'm rating 3 stars here cause is a women led place with a great idea and good products, but I really don't think I'm coming back anymore since I've not felt welcome.
They were maybe just having a bad day, but it was a huge blast for me as I really appreciate good local coffee shops, next time better stay at home.
D. A.
It's a very good location, super close to the Cham, court and love their coffee! Great place to go for a few hours to work and also a great place to bring the dog for some training. Staff are always helpful
B. D.
Amazing cafe. Staff are super friendly and the produce divine, by far, the best selection of cakes/pastries and lunch choices in Caversham. The local produce mixed with the Cornish dairy and exotic coffee a delectable mix! Delighted it’s on our doorstep! Next in my list, the mocha milkshake!
R. S.
They do doggy ice cream! What more can you ask for :)
K. S.
Good coffee (I had flat white). Haven't sampled the cakes or food but it all looked great. Lovely garden at the rear
M. J.
We love this place! Great coffee and cake, brilliant service and lovely friendly team! Great to support local makers, bakers and suppliers! Our bank balance my suggest we love it too much if that's possible...?
E. P.
A very popular cafė. Very friendly and efficient staff, as the queue moved quickly. We sat in the very cosy garden with hot chocolate and cappuccino as well as delicious cakes. Reasonable prices too. Will definitely pop in next time we are passing.
G. H.
Absolutely love this place! The coffee is the best locally - always the perfect strength and temp. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is happy and welcoming. It’s also perfectly located so you can pick up picnic supplies and head to Caversham Court!
M. G.
Excellent coffee. Seating in private courtyard at rear and out front
L. B.
My favourite cafe in Berkshire! The staff are lovely, food is to DIE for, and if you haven’t tried one of their cruffins - you’re missing out!
I can’t wait to sit in their new outdoor area for a coffee in the sunshine ☀️
J. G.
Lovely avacado on sour dough toast. Great coffee too !
P. T.
During lockdown I’ve been missing the coffee shops I used to go to near my work in central London. I’m so glad this place opened up, I actually think the coffee is better here. The flat white has silky smooth milk and nice intensity of espresso, so good.
T. S.
Nice cosy place, good coffee, and a lovely back garden. Though certainly on the expensive side. Two coffees and toasties for over £20 does does seem a little excessive..
J. L.
I've eaten a lot of sausage rolls in my life. But none have been as good as the ones at the Collective.
Flawless balance of crispy pastry and gorgeous sausage. 👌
D. T.
Interesting food. Garden tables allowing dogs. Friendly staff
S. H.
Sam and Suzie have built a fantastic team at the collective. They use local suppliers for nearly all their menu and homewares. With fantastic pastries, cakes, sandwich and soups. They have had to adapt constantly over the last year, opening shortly after the first lockdown, but their passion and smiles are always present.
Highly recommend a trip for takeaway
M. P.
Lots of choices for things to eat and very good coffee. Which is the most important thing, of course.
E. C.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but felt I had to recommend this cafe.
Dropped in here recently with a friend on her recommendation. Well organised and set up for social distancing. Served by a couple of very welcoming ladies. Had the best iced coffee that I’ve tasted in my life. 10/10
G. T.
Amazing food and coffee and great service with a smile. I would highly recommend this coffee shop if your in the area.
E. C.
Fantastic addition to Caversham! Great coffee and food. Can’t fault the service, there’s always a smile and a laugh from all who work there. The grocery and homeware offering is also really nice. Definitely worth a visit!
W. T.
Lovely coffee & brunch, very nicely decorated shop, with staff who are very friendly and welcoming. Will be sure to have the Cruffin on my next visit! AMEX is also accepted here which is a plus 👍

This gorgeous, stylish cafè shop is such a marvellous addition to Reading‘s independent food scene.
Thoughtfully designed to the tiniest detail, it’s great looking, great tasting food and service make The Collective a treat, every visit.
M. J.
The Collective is an Ab Fab independent cafe with a great vibe where the staff are super nice, the food is delicious and you can have the best coffee in Reading. Everyone should go there!
r. J.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou! Had a superb coffee and salad from here the other day. Totally scrummy! My friend had a toastie which she had said she was reluctant to finish as she didn’t want it to be over. Now there’s a compliment!
Plenty of little gift ideas lining the windows, without being overwhelming. Like a modern day Cafe-bar-bazaar!
It’s staggering what these woman have achieved, despite the global pandemic.
Wishing you the very best in your endeavours 🙏🏻
N. R.
Fantastic food and always a friendly staff. There is always a great selection of food and everything I have tried is delicious, also lovely to browse the homewares they have from local independent businesses.
H.
Stopped for a takeout latte and flat white. Both were incredibly milky, which was especially disappointing for the flat white

Buy nice coffee. And a book. And a porcelain something. And another thing to put on a shelf you don't have. Totally eccentric - bring it on, I say.
