Reviews of The Alpine Coffee Shop

I arrived here soaking wet after being caught in the rain and it was very busy, a lovely lady who worked there, with short hair could see I was freezing cold and looking for a seat, she immediately helped me find somewhere to sit and even got me another stool to place my motorcycle helmet on and my wet gloves. she was just so helpful and attentive. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and wow it was huge! I wasnt able to eat it all, as the portions are that big! Food tastes amazing and the staff are really wonderful. Actually spent a couple of hours in there as I had friends come meet me and everyone said how great the food was. Will be going there again I highly recommend it! Plenty of room outside if you can't find a place inside to sit. Try the raspberry and white chocolate meringues! Just wow!

Loved it! The staff are working very hard at the moment as they are understaffed. Coffee and food all brilliant. A proportion of profits go to charities supporting apes. Wanted to try a lot more of the menu - all looks great. Would like to see the sachets replaced with refillable bottles of condiments, especially with such a focus on being eco friendly - I do understand the economics of it, though. Thanks for a great breakfast!

The best cooked breakfast we have had BY FAR, we have really been treated by Betws-y-Coed. The husband had traditional and I had the vegan option, full of flavour! And portions were HUGE. Saved us having anything for lunch so we went back and had the exact same again the next day. Staff lovely too, and so many things to look at in the venue! Thank you for a great experience.

Amazing food! So good we came back two days in a row. Found this little gem on the happy cow app as a vegan myself I always like to know where is vegan friendly and this place did not let us down! My friend had the vegetarian breakfast and I had the vegan breakfast and it was 10/10. Also the range of speciality teas is amazing. We also enjoyed a smoothie and coffee. All the staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome while giving great service, a true asset to the business. It was busier on our second visit but this did not affect the quality of food or service we received. A must visit for anyone visiting nearby. Will be back every time we visit Betws-y-coed from now on!

We visited the alpine coffee shop this morning during a trip to Betws-y-coed for a morning pitstop and to get out of the rain.
The shop has a really good vibe to it, with plentiful seating both inside and out, with cover for the outside seating from the rain.
I had a cappuccino and my partner a peppermint tea, and we shared a couple of Canolles, which were delicious.
If you're in the village and in need of a warm drink and a slice of cake then look no further.

Friendly staff, cosy interior, outdoor seating. The café is short staffed so customers are instructed to grab a menu, get a table (number), then order at the till. There was a line but it moved quickly and service was quick. We had the classic burger with BBQ sauce, vegan hot dog, and two cannolis. The burger came with a generous amount of stuff in the bun and a big pile of chips (fries), and the hot dog was piled high with caremelised onions. A satisfying and delicious lunch.
M. W.
Great veggie breakfasts supported by a gorgeous mug of coffee. Get there early to secure a seat as this cafe is very popular. Other breakfasts are available from a comprehensive menu.

They were very busy, but the young lady on the till was smiling and efficient. Our breakfasts arrived promptly and were delicious. My veggie breakfast was one of the best I have had! Gorgeous coffee! The cafe was lovely inside and a casual relaxed atmosphere. All the staff were pleasant and friendly. Good motorcycle parking in the car park. 10/10👍

Really nice food and drink and a business that supports the plight of primates across the world. Friendly staff and a really nice buzz about the place. Highly recommend if you're in Betws y Coed
T. R.
Me and my partner loved the vegetarian breakfast so much we went there the next day . Lovely place and the staff are so helpful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone .
B. C.
Stopped off here for breakfast before our 4 hour journey home, located in such a lovley area! Ordered the granola and yoghurt bowl with honey and fresh fruit and was presented so beautifully! Was so yummy and filling! Really do recommend this place, helpful staff and a lovley little cafe/restaurant.
C. B.
Cute little coffee shop cafe. Looks like they serve breakfast and everything. They seem to have a unique commitment to supporting endangered primates by selling cute buttons and badges and shirts and such, which was a nice touch 😊

The Alpine Coffee Café is a fun place to visit in Betws y Coed. The food is really good, all freshly made and delicious. Pretty good value too. Friendly staff. Plus, it's dog-friendly.
D. J.
A truly fantastic experience, the scene is set as you walk in with hundreds of teas and sweet pastries to your left. Not only is the menu varied, it's vegan and vegetarian friendly, and all the ingredients are responsibly sourced. The food is excellent, I had the falafel and hummus platter, which was fresh and incredibly filling. I'll definitely be coming back here!

A lovely cafe that is nicely decorated and situated right by the railway station. The afternoon tea I ordered was nice, the lemon drizzle cake was the standout. However, there are a few places it can be improved and so I don’t sound like that angry man from trip advisor hopefully the feedback below will show how the afternoon tea can be improved and bring a review like this to 5 stars in the future.
A lot of the pastries were not fresh, the scone in particular was cold (it would have been much nicer warm) and when I tried to butter the scone it fell apart. Similarly the Christmas cake was also dry indicating that it was not fresh.
This is why the review is 4 stars instead of 5 because as I mentioned the cafe is very nice, the staff are friendly, the meals of all the other members in my party looked delicious and they were all happy with them, and they said the coffee was great
R. K.
Friendly staff, despite the fact it was so busy. Delicious hot drinks, and the children’s cheese sandwich meal was great value for money! With views over the train track, great little place to dry off if caught in the rain!!
B.
We have visited the Alpine once again, and wasn't disappointed with our meals, there were 3 of us and we all enjoyed what we chose. The cakes are delicious too, comfortable and roomy seating inside, and some tables and seating outside with view of the little steam train. We love this place.
A. B. B.
Eaten here many times now. Great cooked breakfasts, excellent veggie sausage and the porridge is superb!. Good coffee and cannoli for that post walk pick-up and you can sit on the station platform and enjoy the morning sun. Very relaxed vibes, the staff are brilliant. RECOMMENDED!!!
J. P.
Stopped here for breakfast and coffee on a VERY busy day. The food was lovely, the dog got a sausage and the coffee was top class. The staff were really working hard on the hottest dy of the year and so despite being so busy & blisteringly hot they had it all under control - hats off to them!
P. N.
Great food, good atmosphere and reasonable prices.
The only problem was, no toilet facilities, I asked a member of staff who said that the toilets where out of order and she suggested I go to the public convenience about 100 meters away. Not the best situation, hopefully it's sorted out soon.
J.
Lovely quirky cafe xx good food and drink choices. Staff lovely xx love the Woodburner!!! Cosy on yesterday's rain filled day
S. H. C.
Great coffee and food.
Dog friendly too.
Highly recommended.
5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
L. H.
Ok for a stop off. Was given the wrong wine order. Couldn't be bothered to go back. A bit pricey for what you get.
M. J.
Lots of vegan options, it’s great to support a worthy cause too! I like the casual vibe and am impressed at the range of people who visit. Toilet wasn’t working during our visit so bare in mind before visiting. 👍
A. L.
Really delicious food including vegetarian/vegan dishes, dog friendly, nice atmosphere, and really friendly staff. And really good value. The nicest place in the area. Highly recommend.
R. F.
Such a fantastic quirky little coffee shop with a brilliant array of produce. The cakes are amazing and really good portion sizes. Coffees and the teas are super (you can also buy jars to take home) and theres a real good selection of food for everyone including vegetarians and those following a plant based diet. Everything is a little bit different to a regular cafe - in a good way, it's something special. It's always busy and that is a testiment to the quality and the atmosphere. I like the eco-friendly and conservation-proud aspects, chosing not to use palm oil for instance and buying local free range produce and there's lots of literature and artwork around to fortify this. There's indoor seating and plenty outdoor too and staff are always friendly and helpful. A lovely coffee shop, well run, in a lovely location.
E.
We had a great ‘Afternoon Tea for Two’ here. Friendly service and the food was really nice.
You can choose any tea from their big tea menu. We had two different types of Sandwiches; 4 cucumber and 4 cheese with sweet chutney. Then 2 scones, 2 cakes, 4 slices of Bara Brith and other assorted pastries!
k. c.
Located by the main car park, popular place for a bite or coffees. It does get very very busy, queue to order then wait for food to be served, freshly made toasted sandwiches hence perhaps worth the wait. Optional sitting in or outside. Only the one cashier, I wish there is a separate till for paying for purchases such as coffee beans, tea leaves, snacks or biscuits.
I. -. V. T.
Lovely place for coffee and breakfast 😋. They add their own signature to the dishes and they are doing it successfully. We had some healthy and delicious free range, organic and homemade products as part of our family breakfast. The drinks were spot on and we had them in takeaway cups. The family dog was not forgotten and he got a sausage in a nice rustic little bucket. The bill was not cheap but it was worthy as we neded any energy we could get for a challenging 7 hours drive.
C.
Slightly quirky, but comfortable café with covered outside seating in addition to indoor.
A very good selection of cakes, pastries and snacks along with a variety of hot drinks.
Staff are the anchor of the business. Found all to be effective in their roles.
Good view of the narrow gauge railway station from inside.
A. E.
I absolutely love this cafe... food is lovely and staff are nice.. breakfasts are scrumpy.. just need to swap their cream on a cream tea for clotted and they would be perfect!
A. W.
Great little.cafe doing some really interesting menu items. Lots of good veggie options. Gets very busy during summer and at weekends.
G. L.
Lovely to have the opportunity to pop into one of our favourite cafés just the other day. Received a really warm, friendly reception and good service from the staff, our food was promptly delivered and freshly made, good coffee too!
A. G.
Amazing choice of vegan food and great coffee
B.
Lovely super busy coffee shop, love the sustainability focus, please keep this up it's really important. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Happy customer!
R. C.
I had a very nice hot chocolate at this place and something very sad that happened was a family next to us bought a like egg and bacon sandwich and took one bite out of it lol. Sad times but other than that I would love to go back. And we came here because it was pouring it down with rain that day.
R. A.
Lovely food and great coffee. Had a seat watching the steam train go buy. Lovely afternoon treat
M. L.
Extremely popular and extremely busy. Best tea shop that I know of in Wales. The range of teas is outstanding. I would stay clear of the gins though. Cakes and savouries were delicious.
There was quite a wait to get to the till and you must go to the till to get your order in and paid for. Once paid the service is exceptional. When we visited there was virtually no seats available inside but the area outside was fine. We did however get a seat inside ultimately.
A. R.
Best chai latte ever. Best Welsh rarebit ever. Best falafel ever.
P. R.
Lovely coffee, with a large range of vegan and veggie options. We didnt have food, but seen some peoples plates and looked nice. Some seats undercover so great if its raining. The cups are also 100% compostable, great to see this.
K. G.
It was super busy, but we found a seat. Service was fast, and breakfast and coffee delicious. Will definitely visit again.
G.
Wonderful independent cafe.
Massive range of teas. Beautiful home made cakes, wonderful food.
Had breakfast here which was wonderful, full English cooked which was all full of local produce.
Staff were friendly and food came out prompt, even though it was Very busy.
Had a orangutang theme which was a little odd but I get that there is a good charity movement behind the theme.
Highly recommend
S. G.
Fantastic selection of ethically considerate food to eat in or take away. When we visited it was incredibly busy and the staff did an enviable job of servicing so many people but it invariably meant there were delays and errors. The cafe is obviously limited by its size and the toilet facilities suffer as a result (compounded by being so busy).
T. B.
Good coffee. This place is very quirky lots of strange decorations however food is good service is very good and they're very commentating for kids.
Good view over the station if you are a train lover. All the food is eco friendly and have have lots of vegan food. They don't do take away coffee as it's not eco!? 🤦♂️ Still it was good coffee. Worth a visit.
C. E. R. D. C.
Good food and friendly staff.
Located just next to the train station entrance/exit is the first choice for the travellers arriving and not for this is an overpriced food.
We respited in there due to the quality, the price and the service received.
We tried a Welsh traditional plate “Rarebit” and was amazing, the salads and sandwiches are a good option too.
L. A.
Lovely place, fantastic milkshakes and burgers! A really interesting venue and helpful, friendly staff.
R. V.
Got a vegan breakfast and americano with some oat milk. I’m really impressed with the food! Really tasty and a bit more interesting than your traditional English Breakfast.
F. P.
Glad to find this cafe near the station. Lots of seats, quick service and nice coffee.
S. A.
From the same owner of the Hangin' Pizzeria, same chaotic but lovely style and same amazing food. If you are tea savvy, the tea menu while blow your mind. Go, have a sandwich and enjoy helping the orangutans. Don't forget to try the Welsh Rarebit cheese on toast and the blueberry and lavender flapjack.
A. P.
We were pleasantly surprised how dog friendly this restaurant is considering it’s been iffy while visiting wales. Not only that but there were so many yummy vegan/vegetarian options from meals to drinks or desserts. The vegan flapjacks were amazing. The staff are all very nice and accommodating and the local area is so beautiful.
A. K.
Cute little place, lovely and super helpful staff! Food was great, but the chai latte was the nicest thing I've ever drank, so creamy and flavourful.
J. M.
🌱(Vegan-friendly) Awesome find! Wandered past looking for somewhere to grab a cheap jacket potato and found this gem. Been to Betws y Coed a million times and never knew of this place. It's sort of rainforest themed due to the fact that it is a dedicated supporter of an ape conservation charity in Cameroon. They have a brilliant menu with a whole page allocated to vegan options - I had the black bean burger, which was tasty but huge and came with half a plate of chippy-style chips. Freshly baked cakes - including vegan options - and delicious smoothies on offer too. They were serving their own home-grown organic spearmint tea which was honestly the best mint tea I've tasted - very refreshing! It's a self service restaurant so you queue up and pay and then your food is made fresh to order so there will usually be a wait, especially with it being so popular, but don't let that put you off - it's well worth the queue. A highly recommended place to eat and one of the best places for vegan options in North Wales!
P. E. L.
Lovely food and a great selection of smoothies. We had the bacon, banana and maple syrup toastie and the chicken mayo, pepper and onion sandwich, both with salad! As well as a berry energiser smoothie each! Really enjoyed! The decor is beautiful and we really love the messages that they are sending out of protecting the environment and animal conservation. We also love that it's situated in the really lovely train station in Betws-Y-Coed!
C.
Great cafe, A most decent cup of coffee. The Welsh rarebit is superb and the staff are lovely and charming. It has a very Alpine feel to the place.
E. P.
Friendly, wide variety of teas, automatic donation to conservation charities when you buy certain items. I would rather choose charities to donate to than pay inflated prices to support a shop's favourite, but it was very visible, so ok. Good all day breakfast. Queue seemed rather slow, perhaps short staffed today.
K. B.
Lovely coffee shop, lovely cakes and drinks. One of the best tea selections/menus I’ve ever seen! Well worth a visit. Amazing photography on the walls inside.
R. S.
Truly fabulous coffee, with some lovely handmade canoli. Long queue, but great food. A fab place to while away a few hours. Busy in tourist season.
T. M.
Lovely al fresco lunch over Easter. We had no plans while walking in the area and didn’t hold out much hope for food as all pubs etc still closed. We found this place while strolling around Betws-Y-Coed - the food was excellent quality and very tasty.
S. R.
lovely little cafe ,mainly vegetarian and vegan menu , they were short staffed when we were there , but service was very good considering , had a sausage sandwich , no butter on bread but sausage were free range & lovely , coffee was nice too
T. R.
We had a lovely breakfast at this amazing cafe. It was a super busy place however the service was surprisingly so efficient ! Food was delicious and the place has a cosy feel 😊. Lovely experience!
M. S.
Fantastic place, perfect. Lovely organic coffee and palm oil free, the reasons I visited. I wish there were more places like these!
C. T.
Coffee was lovely when we eventually got it but unfortunately service is extremely slow. It took us 40 minutes to get through the short queue to the till to buy 2 soft drinks and a coffee.
A. M.
Great little cafe right on the railway line. We stopped on our way back to Oxford from North Wales and weren't disappointed.
E. L.
Beautiful toasted sandwiches and gorgeous smoothies at the Alpine today. The surroundings are quirky and eclectic, with lots to look at. The queue was quite long, but to be expected in high season. Once we'd ordered our food came quickly. Lovely selection of vegetarian and vegan food as well.
R. M.
Lovely little cafe in beautiful Betws y coed. Often have a breakfast here. Would get 5 stars if they had WiFi
v. w.
Lovely place, lovely atmosphere. Very popular, I've recommended to friends and they agree. Also, very handy for the train!
C. P.
Nice cafe plenty of seating inside and a covered outside area. Big choice of teas and coffee etc. Can get very busy which speaks volumes !
M. S.
Fantastic. Great service, lovely food, very accommodating. Lovely to see such great ethics too. A definite place to visit when local.
D. R. (.
Really good location next to the railway line and within the town area. Plenty of parking nearby.stopped for a brew and a cake. Good fresh coffee and really good fruit scones with jam and cream. Staff always friendly and helpful. Larger meal menu and caters for all tastes
C. W.
Don't pay attention to the sign outside, the place is lovely and the afternoon tea was delicious and really good value! 😋 Fabulous tea selection too. 5 types of Chai! I almost died.
j. h.
Lovely place. Food was extremely tasty. Lots of choice. Dog friendly and ethical
V. G.
Excellent food choices, perfect ambiance, well spoken staff, great sitting and perfect charity approach.
Wished we were here for more days but some holidays have to end but we are looking forward to come again soon!!
Well done.
The beer and ale names are wacky! Loved them all named after the diff ape species. 🦍 🦧
B.
INCREDIBLE!
The food was delicious. Best Welsh rarebit that I had on our time away by far!! So many different teas to choose from and we even ended up buying some of it to take home. It is very dog friendly. They even have sausages for your pups on their menu ☺️
Lovely selection of cakes and other baked good. The only problem was that I didn’t have enough space in my stomach to try everything!!
S. A.
We've visited before and had one of the most delicious lunches but unfortunately they have staff shortages atm and the food was below standard for what we paid .
We usually go here every time we visit but it's certainly put me off returning again
C. M.
Great location and nice decor. Ordered a full english breakfast and a flat white - coffee was fantastic, food was unfortunately a bit average. They didn’t have any toilet facilities, there are some public toilets over the road for 30p.
R. K.
Great option for food. All the food we had was excellent and pretty good value. Was very jealous of the full English breakfast that my son had.
As with all venues at the minute they were stretched for staff but this was all explained at the outset and really wasn't an issue. Good communication makes such a difference.
Massive selection of different teas as well.
Big plus that it is also dog friendly.
Would definitely recommend.
J. D.
Obviously, what attracted us in was the proudly displayed terrible review. It's not true.
The breakfast was great - quality food and almost plenty of it (1 more round of toast wouldn't break the bank?). Decent coffee too.
OK. This isn't the cheaper end of the breakfast market - be warned!
But. Worth a visit.
F. L.
Great vegan options, I love the ethos of the place because they don't do takeaway cups or straws to cut down on waste. Not only do they feed their customers but also educate.
Didn't like that their thoughts are in the right place with environmental changes yet they still serve meat and dairy, slightly conflicting! But would however recommend to a friend.
J. F.
Nice food, but expensive. No toilets in the cafe!! Had to go up the street to use public toilets. By the time l queued & got back my food was cold. Staff not particularly bothered!
Shame, as l have been before & it was better.
R. R.
Great Vegan Apricot Flapjack and Coffee. Good atomsphere. Being calling in here for a number of years
A. B.
Best falafels ever. Generous portions, all freshly made. Delicious coffee.
B. W.
Great tea and coffee shop . Any tea you can think of . Around 50 combinations and many different coffees and dessert options with people's food allergies taken in to account . A must if you're in beta y coed area .
r.
Great breakfast here, amazing selection of teas and a really friendly bunch of staff. Jeffery the dog was very happy with the dog sausages.
C. F.
Really good fresh food and delicious coffees. The biggest collection of teas I have ever come across on a menu!
R. C.
One of the best places to get a veggie/vegan breakfast in the area. Staff always excellent too.
F. W.
Our favourite coffee shop in Wales, we love it here. The staff are lovely & food is incredible
K. C.
One of my fave cafes in Betws. Love the pictures, coffee and the chips!
r. g.
Very nice place, lovely coffee ☕, though can be very busy due to tourist destination, be prepared for a wait
D.
The coffee was amazing (even if some disgruntled chap had a bad afternoon tea). The Welsh Rarebit and Falafel salad was also fantastic.
L. W.
Very nice coffee and desserts! The inside of the cafe is very cosy and comfortable. The smell of the food was really nice, although we didn't have any meals. The staff were friendly, and it was was very busy.
L. S.
Stopped in for the veggie breakfast one morning. Absolutely fantastic falafel and sausage, portion sizes are massive too. Otherwise it's what you would expect from a decent cafe in terms of food.
I love the aesthetic of the place and they promote wildlife conservation and the sustainability of their food which is a nice touch.
Will definitely be back again.
E. R.
Really nice cappuccino and cake, fast and friendly service, cheese sandwich nothing spectacular but all in all really good experience.
A. R.
What a really lovely place! Great coffee and cake selection. Full of interesting stuff with either a local or an eco friendly nature. Friendly staff even though they were trying to close and people just kept coming in....that's how good this is
E. C.
A nice stop. Efficient and friendly service. Burgers were very filling, and yummy, albeit messy (part of the fun). Scones were decent. Prices are fair. Would visit again. 4 and half stars from me 👌🏼
S. L.
Good food. Good beer. Quite expensive but not ridiculous. Some uncleared tables when we arrived. They were cleared soon enough but the tables (including ours) were not cleaned. Seemed normal as the table was filthy. Spurious excuse regarding covid for the loos being closed. Every other cafe we’ve been to in the area has open toilets without any issue. (No covid restrictions on date visited and masks not worn by staff).
Edit: Rude owner also leaving the same response to any review he does not like rather than actually dealing with the issued raised.
J.
What a amazing place. We stopped for food and my god am I glad we did.
It was incredible. Incredible. There quality of the ingredients is high and the options are plentiful. Everything we ate was so tasty.
Quite easily the best cafe I've ever eaten at and I've ate at hundreds.
"Cafe" doesn't really do the place justice, as it's very gourmet.
There is also tons of really interesting options for vegetarians and vegans and TONS of tea.
A serious contender for best cafe in the UK.
I'll be visiting again whenever I'm next close.
O. D.
Never before have I been to a cafe where every single thing on the menu was perfect. And yet here you have The Alpine Coffee shop. Tucked away in the tree-lined valleys of Betws Y Coed is this incredible little place with tonnes of vegetarian options, a range of amazing desserts, beautiful lighting and furnishings, with a fair amount of the profits going to Gorilla and Orangutan rescue and preservation charities. Best falafels of my entire life. Amazing veggie sausages. Everything they do with a potato will blow your mind. It is so rare to go somewhere and know that no matter what you order on the menu, it will be delicious. We've been here 3 days and already been twice. Definitely will again before we leave. Delightful.
A. M.
Lovely place and i like the eco and nature friendly approach, the prices are quite steep, but the cakes are just lovely and the tea too, however you have to remove the leaves fairly quickly otherwise it gets bitter and not enjoyable. Just from an economical point of view and tea enjoyment, why don't you offer half price for 1/3 load of tea leaves. I do understand it's not 1/2 tea leaves 1/2 price due to overheads.. but i'd be happy to pay £1.50 for even 1/4 of tea leaves... i had to leave the tea of £2.95 as it wasn't drinkable... shame.. i'll know next time but it's a waste of tealeaves... and food waste isn't very eco friendly....however excellent set up, wonderful service, very clean and professional.
t. g.
Absolutely loved the salad with pitta bread.
All fresh and tasty, the pot of tea was brilliant
And staff friendly
Great place to stop for a snack I be going again.:)
C. S.
This was a real treat to find! Absolutely loved it. I had one of the two vegan cakes, the stem ginger pair with a oat milk latte. Lots of tea options and charity work. We'll worth a visit if
M. S.
Had 2 big breakfast which were really nice. Only downside is they stated nearest toilet is 5 minute walk to which you have to pay as it's run by council. Apart from that food is nice.
W. C.
Great (vegan and gluten free) food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.
L. M.
Great selection of tea and decent coffee. You can buy loose tea to take home as well, they must have over 100 loose teas to try from.
You have a lot to choose from from their menu which is great, especially if you are a vegetarian and vegan as there are lots of options here for breakfast (all day) or lunch.
Can be quite busy here if you come here during peak times and during the holiday season. I think it's worth the wait
R. C.
Great cafe with superb food and friendly service. Can get busy. Veggie breakfast is fantastic!
L. W.
Good food and never seen so many tea's in one place.
M. B.
Excellent place nice food
Friendly staff
Big food varieties
Reasonably priced
P. A.
Friendly and welcoming staff, good coffee and cakes, nice big tables to cater for groups, and in beautiful Betws-y-Coed... Awesome!
V. J.
Lovely breakfast 😋
P. S.
Great location, food and staff. Just needs to be able to open the skylights and let the insects out.
S. J.
Always call In when visiting the area.
Breakfast was perfect as usual.
Went for a big walk and came back for Lunch.
Chips & cheese toasties were lovely.
Perfect food to match the perfect day.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
B. D.
Great place to go for food and drink. Portions are huge! Dogs welcome, and hikers, bikers and ugly people too! Well worth a visit!
J. W.
Great selection of food which is a little different to your norm. Vast array of speciality teas. Coffee is lovely as are their cakes! Hard working friendly staff.

Service is excellent. Long line but worth the wait. Had one of the best Welsh Rarebit
S. A.
Great cafe with a great vibe and a wonderful theme, consciously trying to make the world better one latte at a time. The vegan selection was very nice, including a decent English breakfast and some nice cakes.
M. D.
Fantastic food, fantastic tea and coffee, home baked cakes. The staff are a credit to the hospitality industry, managing the cue of people to eat effortlessly. A 5* place to eat. Thank you so much for such wonderful food and drink.
R. D.
Lovely food but only one person on the till, even though there were other staff behind the counter. So the queue was huge, we wanted to order a dessert after our meal but couldn't as the queue was too big- it would have taken an hour just to get served.
P. G.
It was extremely busy when we visited, but as the crowd dispersed it became more peaceful and enjoyable.
s. m.
Extremely nice breakfast.
P. S.
Should have been 5 star as the tea selection and pastries were fantastic. Let down by a rude staff member prior to ordering. The staff are your first point of contact and hopefully make the experience worthwhile backed up by the quality of the food and beverages. Hopefully can upgrade to a 5 star on next visit. Good exchange with the owner and now because of that have upgraded to a 5 star rating.
J. W.
Unlike any other restaurant we have been too, The Alpine coffee shop has loads of choice for Vegan's, interesting choice as well! They also serve breakfast at any time which is what we had, it was THE best we ever tried. Staff were helpful and Wolfie our dog was welcome.
A. L.
Great lunch here, had the Hummus and falafel salad, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The canollo were really tasty too, could have eaten loads more, plus really great coffee. Good atmosphere and staff were friendly and efficient, even though short staffed. Busy place shows its success, rightly deserved. Highly recommended if you want something a bit different to the usual doughnuts and fish and chips on offer in town.
J. S.
Lovely setting and very polite staff. Queue to get in. My wife had the vegetarian and said it was quite nice. I had the traditional and thought it was very average. Sorry! Like I said, it’s a beautiful setting, but small portions and wasn’t fantastic.
A. B.
Great choice of tea's. The Bacon, Brie, cranberry toastie we ordered was pretty average. Lacking in all three of those ingredients in any quantity. We also shared the matcha cake, which other than being green was lacking in matcha and was very sweet. Have had much better food here before hence 3 stars. Sausage for your dog available, which my dog loved!
H. C.
an excellent range of loose teas, nice cakes and food. can get very busy so there may be a long queue.some quirky decorations. inside and outside seating areas. inside room at rear overlooks station and a miniature railway. recommended!
D. B.
We were enticed in by the critical review of afternoon tea for one. Can confirm the afternoon tea is truly worthy of its price point. This is no pretentious tea at the Hilton. But a solid offering that will leave you feeling guilty for over indulging. Would recommend.
A. P.
Amazing to find somewhere catering to vegan diet and gluten free options. The pizzas and hummus chips were amazing. dog friendly and relaxing atmosphere. We will be back on our next holiday!
A. H.
Good coffee and cake, and also dog friendly. An ideal place to call in to after a walk along one of the many local forest tracks.
D. R.
Excellent Welsh rarebit and a nice pot of tea. Very good service.
J. H.
What a find. The lady in the post office over the road in Betsw y Coed suggested we go to the Alpine Kiosk as we were looking for somewhere to have some lunch. Despite Covid restrictions the service was excellent and very good value. We had the most delicious beef soup I've ever tasted, followed by gorgeous hot chocolate. We liked it so much we went again a couple of days later and this time had soup and a sandwich. Good sized portions and very tasty. Can't wait to visit again.
J. W.
Sat eating 2 vege breakfasts with my family. They are incredible. Best vege sausage I've ever had, love that it comes with falafel as well.
Also had loose chai tea which is delicious. The prices are really good considering how amazing the food is.
R. T.
Really nice friendly staff, amazing food with brilliant vegan options. Reasonable prices. Plenty of seating. Just loved the place.
B. M.
The coffee was good and theres a massive selection of tea. The cafe also has a selection of hot food and cakes. Theres seating inside and theres a kind of conservatory out the front but this wasn’t open. You can also sit on the station which i only realised on leaving. Theres a bit of an odd ape theme going on, I’d have preferred a more local thing, it took ages to get served for just coffee (at least 15 mins in a queue) and the toilets were out of order. There’s lots of (paid) parking in the immediate vicinity along with public toilets.
N. N.
Very impressed with the cafe. Shame we discovered it on the last day of the trip. So delicious and fresh pita bread. Lovely views of the railway station at the back. Good coffee. Highly recommended.
D. B.
Very busy, but our food and drink was very good.
B. K.
Lovely light garden Room with log burner. Delicious decaff coffee and flapjack. The perfect find after a 6 mile walk up and around Llyn Elsi.
L. S.
Gluten free breakfast complete with hummus. Not too tasty to be honest.
F. M.
Lovely quirky little coffee shop, super friendly staff, there is a full menu along with seating in and outside, the cannolo and a latte are to die for ❤ thanks guys and gals
C. H.
I have fond memories of this place over a decade. The two things that let it down were a limited menu and appallingly poor table service. The Burger was good quality beef😁👍 but the barms disintegrated in your hands, messy.
The café toilet was not in use 👎☹️. So you have to spend 30p in the local car park amenities. 👎☹️
If you have a blue badge key the car park amenities I understand are free.
H. C.
Absolutely Amazing place. The staff are so friendly, great food, (awesome millionaires shortbread & flapjacks) excellent coffee and well considered decor all deserve 5 stars.
If there was an extra five stars it would be awarded hands down for their sustainable values. I love their bold business move for no take away drinks without reusable keep cups, and their focus on local sourcing of ingredients. All under the commendable umbrella of supporting primate conservation with their own profits and donations.
What a lucky find 👌👊🥇
K. R.
Great little coffee shop, great atmosphere and interior design, and doing a lot of fantastic charity work. They literally have a catalogue of teas, a wide selection of cakes and snacks, good food and good coffee. Gets very busy and overcrowded frequently, which results in long waiting times to order. Recommend getting someone in the queue first thing whilst others grab a table and browse the menu.
M. A.
Good selection of options for lunch and the cream tea looked lovely. Very smooth coffee and the hummus and falafel platter was scrummy, and remarkably filling. Very dog friendly and friendly staff too
D. G.
This is a reasonable cafe close to station with a good menu. food was ok, we had some sandwiches with salad and some tea/coffee. Staff were friendly. Seems popular and generally a v long queue so be prepared to wait if you want to eat here.
A. R.
Always liked this café and it seems they've really upped their game, the food was delicious and the service was great our server (Liz I think) was fantastic with us and it made the whole experience perfect (food on time, checking everything was ok for us and making us feel very welcome) . The café is the main reason I visit Betws.
A. M.
Easily the best cafe in Betws, possibly north wales! Staff are great and service is quick - BUT - always manic busy in there. Even on a rainy Tuesday in October! A sign of their success I suppose.
M. H.
Delightful food, service and atmosphere.
Stopped a couple of times and sampled the lovely sandwiches. They have gluten free cake too. Friendly staff and beautiful alley location where smooth soul music plays.
H. H.
Lovely array of teas, sweet treats and hot foods. Very popular so almost always busy. Quietest time I've visited was just after opening time.
P. L.
Really good coffee.
Would have been 5/5 but the breakfast was a bit tough to chew.
Probably been under heat lamps for far too long.
G. K.
Lovely cafe, in the most perfect atmosphere, regularly meet with friends for a delicious breakfast before heading out on an adventure. Only 15 minutes away from us its perfect, we love everything about it especially the flapjacks and hot chocolate. Massive bonus its dog friendly too!! Well done guys and thank you!
R. A.
Live locally in Bangor and whenever someone comes to visit we always end up in the Alpine Cafe. It's always busy but staff and food are lovely.
C. D.
Beautiful coffee shop, but how can you not have a toilet in 2022? Using public loos across a rainy car park does not make this a 5* establishment.
A. U.
Tasty vegan options and great outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Highlight the daily vegan cake option!
J. L.
Beautiful place to sit and have a coffee and a meal , burger was beautiful and so was the falafel , highly recommend will visit again definitely , very friendly staff too
B. H.
Very nice dog friendly cafe Lenny loved is sausage
t.
Great coffee shop with great ethics and ethos. Nice vegan options. Lovely cakes and drinks good portion sizes and good value for money very tasty. Its always busy. Which is testament to how good the food and drinks are here. Staff are lovely. And they raise awareness and money for the environments and orangutan conservation. It is eco friendly offering discounts for take out drinks if you bring your own cup. Its also palm oil free which is amazing
R. S.
Excellent selection of vegan food and friendly service on offer! Their messaging around Covid and the impact of staff shortages was also on point. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
A. Y.
Amazing cafe/restaurant/coffee bar. Gluten free galore! If you've got a food allergy then this place is for you. I've just come back from here and all I can think about is how utterly amazing the coffee and brownies were!
Definitely going again. Staff lovely, beautiful furnishing and a really nice place to chill.
L. T.
Fairly large cafe with lots of seating, a very expansive tea menu, food was excellent on both occasions I have been - however the queue is always enormous, the staff who are serving always seem stressed and rude. When ordering one snapped at my partner for not knowing what number tea she wanted (she knew the name and nowhere does it state that you need the number) - then to make it worse after we got the number it took an age for her to find the product - why aren't they just in numerical order in storage?
As above the cafe is large with lots of seating inside and out, but it feels cramped in places with narrow walk ways for staff, added to the fact you order at the till meaning the floor space in generally busy and you are almost constantly bumped by people passing if you sit in these locations.
Finally, another oddity is the toilet which is provided on site, they have a random rather barbed notice on the door which effectively says "We did so well making this toilet, we don't have to give you a toilet and if you don't want want to wait then go somewhere else." - Just seems odd when a simple sign saying "There may be a wait for the toilet, there are more toilets in the public car park".
M. G.
Quirky place, on the platform at the station, for a very good coffee. Also has some gluten free choices, which is good
S.
We always head here for breakfast when heading home from Wales. The breakfast is good, the service is always friendly and the setting is very nice. We were disappointed yesterday though, to only get a single slice of toast each! We both like to eat this with our egg and beans, so had to buy extra toast to have with the jam.. at 80p a slice 🙄
D. T.
We have had coffee and lunch here on a few occasions and make sure we come her if we are holidaying in North Wales.
I love the decor and the theme of the place.
Its palm oil free and the give back to the Primates of our world
The tea selection is outstanding and their cakes are good.
Theres plenty of parking near by (paid mainly)
There are toilets on site that are clean and functioning
Staff are friendly and helpful
Food is great here
Overall we always have a great experience here.
s.
what can I say it sells coffee and some great cakes
L. M. L.
Great homemade cakes. Unfortunately the toilet is closed so you have to go to the public ones 100 metres away.
P. G.
Great food and fantastic service. Our 5 year old son has a number of severe food allergies and despite being a busy Saturday afternoon the staff did everything they could to accommodate him. In the end he had a delicious vegan cheese sandwich (the best he's ever had apparently) and a vegan sundae which left him ecstatic. Honestly the best and most welcoming service he's ever had!
P. W.
Superb! Great choice - with lots of vegan and GF options. Staff fantastic too - very helpful and patient. We had 3 fantastic burgers and a kids sausage bean and bacon. All delicious. We’ll definitely come back
G. D.
Love that they are environmentally conscious and the vibe of the place too (even the toilet tells you a story!). Good selection if you are vegan or vegetarian (personally not quite to my liking - but that's just me). Generous portions and served reasonably quickly. Worth a visit.
S. H.
Cafe with bizarre kitsch decor, OK for a snack or coffee stop. Welsh rarebit tasted good but looked unpleasant.
k. t.
Really nice food here with friendly staff. Can get rather busy though with long queues for what appeared to be the only available toilet. The food was nice but no table service as such, so order everything you intend to eat when you first pay at the counter or you'll have to queue again to order dessert. We wanted just that but the queue was backing out the door so we didn't bother.
This was really all that let this lovely venue down.
n. n.
Huge range of teas. Lots of home made cakes. Fresh quiche and tarts. Welsh Rarebit with bacon a good choice. Good coffee. Only the one WC, so there can be a queue. No table service, disappointingly.
B. C.
A little chilly but great breakfast thanks!
(Shame about single use plastic sauce sachets)
M. V.
Crowded and cozy, this coffee shop/cafe has a lot of home produce alongside staples like chips and burgers - plus they offer a huge range of teas. Getting very busy during the holiday season be prepared for a wait at peak times. They have a strong focus on palm oil free produce and are also very into 'Save the Ape'. Prices vary hugely depending on what you buy, but there will be something for every budget. Worth a visit if you want something to please everyone.
E. R.
A really beautiful area. There are lots of lovely gift shops selling souvenirs and welsh products. The cafe is really nice and clean and the staff are friendly. It is a little bit expensive but the food is really nice and worth it. Conveniently placed near to the train station as well. They also sell ice creams too.
l. j.
Absolutely lovely. A perfect breakfast to start our day. Thank you.
P. B.
Good coffee and friendly staff. Unfortunately toilets were closed
A. K.
The best coffee and croissants I've had for ages.
M. L.
Great cafe, with excellent coffee, an impressive range of teas, good food and cakes. Very friendly staff. Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. Comfortable sitting. Often busy, especially around lunchtime, with a long queue, but the queue normally moves quickly and it's worth the wait.
D. L.
I come here often and I enjoy the decor, food and coffee quite a lot. The menu choices are robust with lots of flavours and ingredients packed into each dish. There is a good thread of vegetarian and veganism running through the place as well for anyone who has specific dietary needs.
I do have a reasonable gripe about the food however... the 'artisanal' bread is highly disappointing. It's so thinly sliced and apart from the slightly crustier crust, does not seem artisanal at all. Considering the sandwiches are packed with lots of ingredients, the very thin and soft bread tends to just fall to pieces and provides no structure, tearing when cut. Be prepared to eat your sandwich with a knife and fork!
Glad I got that off my chest.
Stop being stingy and improve your bread thickness Alpine Coffee!
M. P.
Wow the food was delicious staff friendly. I would highly recommend the Welsh rarebit.
S. P.
Lovely breakfast, a little more pricey than other places but worth it. Amazing pictures of primates to look at, very ethical and profits go towards supporting primates - what's not to like?
D. S.
really nice meal there for all of us, nice food, tea and cake, friendly and helpful staff
M. M.
Nice buger & coffee,no onsite toilets only pay as you go in carpark
E. P.
Great breakfast, coffee and milkshake. Recommended
K. M.
Great interior design, good coffee and sweets, fresh orange juice, great lager and 91 teas to choose from!
P. D.
A great place for a break from our day out in Snowdonia. Welcoming decor and bohemian surroundings made for a pleasant short stay . The staff were attentive and informative. A superb place for the gluten intolerant as well.
B. 1.
Fantastic place, dog friendly, little stove fire on a cold winters day and great food. As previously mentioned there is plenty of vegan and veggie options as well as pages worth of great teas and coffees. Be sure to get a pic with the gorilla and rhino nearby, bring your plastic bottle tops and have yourself a scone or tasty cake as your K9 friend enjoys a doggy sausage.
Collect stamps too for freebies.
K. W.
My most favourite cafe in the whole of north Wales! Always have a wonderful selection of refreshments and food. I highly recommend their green teas and sandwiches. Lovely little cafe and all for a great cause too
J. S.
Very busy in peak season, with queue outside door *but* we go every year when in area. Amazing coffee and vegan flapjack and nice atmosphere. only 1 toilet though, which can be hard when its busy, esp with little ones, but families made to feel welcome
s. r.
Good food, vegan options were okay. Flapjacks available too. Great selection of teas. It gets very busy and a bit confusing the way they take orders at the till but the staff are nice and do a good job.
N. B.
Lovely place, really funky inside, with a variety of cakes, pies and retro drinks. Nice outdoor, covered seating area with baskets of blankets, patio heaters and is dog friendly. Food is delicious and portions are very generous!
C. T.
It's easy to say this is the best cafe in Betws-Y-Coed hands down. Very popular amongst cyclists, walkers and everyone else.
Great coffee, amazing food, more cakes to shake a stick at and friendly staff.
A little pricey but you do get what you pay for in this case - only downside is there is only one toilet however there are public toilets outside you are encouraged to use. Very good coffee shop and one with a good cause. A definite stop off every time I visit Betws.
P.
A very nice place. Lovely decorations, and wonderful service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone passing by. They have food suiting all your needs. Over 20 different teas, numerous homemade desserts. And a plethora of sandwiches.
D. R.
Called here this morning, amazing veggie and vegan options. Food was fabulous...they clearly care....keep it going guys
A. R.
I've been going to betws y coed since I was a little boy, but never really sat done properly and had good here. Wow! What I've missed out on. Me and two friends thought we'd try it for a good breakfast before climbing crib and wow the vegan breakfast was amazing. Going there again next week just so I can have the same breakfast again.. thanks guys
a. h.
Lovely setting by the Snowdon railway. Wide selection of good food and friendly staff.
J. M.
Really friendly welcoming atmosphere, staff are lovely, food excellent, facilities were out of order, but in really nice surroundings x
A. C.
Always enjoy a visit here, great breakfasts with a selection of leaf teas. Staff are super friendly and the flapjacks are lovely. Would definately recommend.
D. S.
Don't get me wrong. This is a lovely cafe with great ambience but the service, although friendly, is dreadfully slow. Also, afternoon tea with whipped rather than clotted cream is a big no no. Prices are reasonable and the eco theme is appreciated.
M. A.
Awesome cafe. Great choice of food, coffee and tea. Doggy friendly inside and out. Vegan and veggie options. Environmentally conscious. Love it! Also try out the pizza place s few doors down that is owned by the same people. 😀
K. J.
Pleasant atmosphere, good selection on offer
A. G.
Nice cream tea, only spoilt by lack of toilets and having to traipse to the public toilets before eating
D. H.
Lovely food
G. W.
Great coffee, great cakes. Love the decor and the atmosphere.
They do not do takeaway drinks unless you bring your own cup which seems fair enough. Minimises effect on the environment.
j. w.
Loved it several months ago. I recommended this cafe to my aunty who is coeliac and when I asked about the gluten free cakes their wasn't much of a choice which was a bit disappointing as last time their was much more choice. I ordered a cappuccino and the staff said get it at the end, so I did to be told off that I have someone else's drink. I think for the price you pay here (as for 1 small gluten free tart, small lemon meringue, small cappuccino and pot of tea which come to over £10) the customer service would be better. Maybe it was an off day for them.
V. D.
Super tasty vegan breakfast with an interesting addition of falafel and hummus, both of which tasted homemade. Good coffee and prices, too!
J. H.
Popped in for a snack and drink, very quick service, surroundings were pleasant and inviting.Would use again.Toasties were moreish.
D. H.
As coffee shops and cafe's go this is a good one. Ethical in the choice of food and a good quality too. It always seems to be busy when I have visited in the past and the staff are always welcoming and professional. It is a Betws y coed jewel as far as I am concerned
M. V.
So good! I had the falafel salad and a Green Machine smoothie. My companion had the falafel pita and a banana milkshake. The falafel was crispy, the vegetables fresh, and condiments perfect! Love the Israeli peppers and harissa! The outdoor seating was ample and comfortable. I am trying to find excuses to visit this place again.
t. s.
We love it here, great coffee, tea, food and super friendly staff and....gorilla support
M. T.
A great selection of food with many options suitable for someone gluten free like myself. Everytime we are in the area we will go here.
J. M. F.
Just love The Alpine Coffee Shop. Our dog loves it too, especially the sausages.
S. S.
Fabulous service, staff so helpful seating my dad who was in a wheelchair....thankyou...I didn't catch your names...you seated us outside and helped him into his seat. You didn't have to be so attentive and it was so appreciated. ❤
C. C.
Great breakfast and we always drop in if we traveling to Ireland...highly recommended
R. B.
Great, quirky cafe. The staff were friendly and the food excellent. Well worth a visit.
G. B.
Lovely staff and nice breakfast. I love sausage bap. Had breakfast here 2 days in a row. Very happy!!!
D. C.
Great cooked breakfast this morning. Nice milkshake for the kids, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Quick service. Friendly staff didn't mind our three year old twin toddlers running around, (seemed to enjoy the Jingle Bells chorus actually)! Plenty free car parking in the station car park right opposite. No 3 phone signal. Not sure if they had wi-fi, didn't ask.
s. J.
Relaxed friendly stop for refreshments, local ale selection a nice touch.
Dog friendly
G. M.
Ran out of cream for the cream tea. Scone was good.
J. G.
Love the cafe, sometimes there's a queue but it's a great place to stop off for a few drinks and a snack so it's worth the wait, i love their ethical themes and push for charities. A unique quirky cafe! Highly recommended
J. S.
Drove over an hour out of the way for this cafe as it has been reviewed well but I couldn't have been more disappointed...the person that took our order knew nothing of the menu and had an attitude when we asked questions about ingredients. One first I had was getting sick/food poisoning from Vegetarian food, my veggie burger was well past its best and microwaved, hard on the outer edges, very soft on the inside with browning lettuce. the peanut butter cake was dry and old, just a truly horrible meal and if I hadn't of had nothing to eat that day I would have walked out. My partner was happy enough with her meal but we were both puzzled as the cafe wouldn't serve her brown bread as it contains Palm Oil, yet they served Linda Mcartney Sausages, which do...if you are going to pick a cause, at least be consistent. The decor was orangutang obsessed and too much..I don't understand how the owners can be so obsessed with Palm Oil yet serve meat in their restaurant, the ethical inconsistency is mind boggling.
C. R.
What an amazing little coffee shop! So brilliant to see them supporting stopping the use of palm oil to protect the orangutans! Definitely a great find on our roadtrip, oh and try the chocolate brownies they are die to for!! :)
P. C.
Decent amount of outdoor seating, dog friendly, power outlets available for a donation, heated & covered gazeebo and a great selection of ethically sourced food and drinks. There's only one bathroom but there are public toilets down the road.
P. B. P.
Vegan options, lovely cakes, great coffee with alternative milk option (Oat milk), a cute location near the train station, the staff are very hospitable and nothing was a problem. 5*
S. T. (.
A little on the expensive side but food excellent. Very ecowarrior-esc atmosphere. Has a massive range of teas.
P. D.
Amazing selection of loose teas to enjoy Aith great food selections too.
A. K.
Beautiful.place ,food and drinks to.high standards sit in and out ,
G. E.
Wonderful little cafe, with delicious cakes at not-silly prices, and a round-the-world selection of teas. The profits of this place go to help save primates in the wild. Go and check out the chandeliers made from recycled coffee pods! A must if you're visiting Betws.
J. H.
We call it the gorilla bar. Great place for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake. Lovely staff and efficient service.
A. T.
High-quality food and some of the best tea and coffee in Snowdonia. Deservedly popular - perhaps exceedingly so; the service can be achingly slow at times. (Surely the counter service system could be rejigged or swapped for table service?) Recommended nonetheless. Ethical standpoints a big plus-point.
H. C.
Great place to sit and people watch. The best food. Sadly they've changed their coffee recently and its not as good (June2019) but hopefully they'll get back to the good stuff soon!
H. H.
It has a unique atmosphere and the environment. The food and drinks are excellent.
I. H.
Breakfast was lovely and staff were very friendy. We also liked the groovy decor. Hot chololates are lush. Prices are fair and definitely worth it. Would recommend to anyone.
C. G.
Really great experience here. Lovely simple food, environmental considerations taken and have a fairly broad selection in the menu including food suitable for vegans.
G. J.
Very popular on Saturday afternoon. Staff very friendly and courteous despite being so busy. Best soup ever...minted pea and ham.
Great place. Will definitely come back.
G. S.
Just had coffee and a cake but there is a good relaxed atmosphere. Rustic, ecological and friendly. All important music to relax to at the end of a hard days walking, cycling, kayaking, climbing etc.
G. S.
Superb range of cakes, teas and coffees. Rustic, relaxed feel to the place. Can get Very busy with day visitors to the area. Don't try the sandwiches they are almost comically bad!
M. T.
Ah this is my fav cafe in Betws. We stayed at a local hotel but opted for breakfast here. Really ethically conscious, warm, cosy, bohemian feel. Lots of vegan and veggy options, good coffee. Great vibe.
J. N.
Toast and jam here is great. Menu food excellent Lovely view and ambiance. Rugs outside for keeping us warm in Welsh weather. Hardworking owner. Worth a visit
D. M.
Visited for full breakfast well presented hot and cooked well. Staff happy and joking will be returning.
E. T.
Such a lovely place, great food and fantastic customer service.
B. H.
Great breakfast, really good coffee and nice table overlooking station. Staff very friendly.
R. R.
Great selection of food. It was extremely busy but they served us quickly. Would really recommend the salted caramel brownie.
J. C. (.
Great place to sit back and enjoy a coffee and watch the world go bye, its a railway station stop, so lots of people stopping off to spend a day in this fascinating busy little town, and there is a miniature railway close by giving short rides around the park pulled by a genuine mini locomotive.
Kids will love that!
J. W.
Fantastic coffee shop and cake place. LOVE the eco-friendly approach and plastic free store. You have to take your own coffee cup which is brilliant.. or drink in! More places need to do this!
L. n.
Had a lovely breakfast but it was cold to sit as is on the station. Would recommend, but take your coat
H. R.
Brilliant breakfast. Staff great .definitely eat there again.
h.
Excellent fried breakfasts with plenty of nice crunchy toast. Friendly service too. We always make a detour for this place. The comfy seats are always taken!
G. C.
Lovely vegetarian food. Great coffee. Bikers welcome.
I. B.
Very well organised take away service, a fairly large under cover seating area and most of all delicious and good quality food.
k. b.
Soup was ok...expected some nicer bread than a pre-sliced bap with it? I have been here in the past and although adequate this time I was expecting a bit more
L. H.
Very quirky, had some afternoon tea and it was fab, couldn't finish it but it was amazing value for money. I was very happy to see that it was dog friendly and seeing all the lovely pooches made me ever so happy.
D. O.
I really love this place and wish it were closer. Almost overwhelming choice of tea and delicious looking cakes. Well made coffee. It's no secret, this place is always busy. Eat the cakes!
S. E. t. n. t. U.
Warm welcome, lovely food, good surroundings. Popped in on the off chance, and wasnt disappointed.
T. P.
Excellent purveyor of coffee, teas and nosh. A most eclectic selection of teas, cakes and sweet treats. Their breakfast too is top of the range. Mocha porridge is da bomb! 👍👍👍👍👍
D. K.
doesn't do a bad bit of food..had a traditional breakfast here was a little bit expensive but was, decent quality ..
d. m.
had a breakfast it was loverly. highly recommended. also do glutton free stuff. it backs on to a railway station you can eat on the platform it has tables inside and out. would eat here again.
a. 1.
Good food, have a tendency to serve the coffee warm unless you ask for it extra hot though however, the staff are lovely.Probably between here and caban y pair for the best local cafe, just depends on your budget as this place is a far more expensive.
D. S.
Lovely breakfast and really friendly service. Very busy but probably due to covid and the staycation. Defo be back!
C. V.
Great selection of food and drinks. Caters for veggies, vegans, gluten free... The lot! A nice, friendly atmosphere with a good view at the back. Dog friendly too.
L. D.
I love this place! Came here at the weekend with family and ordered the vegan sandwich. It has such a great selection of vegan food and I love that money goes to the ape appeal charity.
B. G.
Very accommodating to gluten free and vegan folks. Convenient location, nice outdoor seating, tasty food, and good sized portions!
M. J.
Lovely food but a bit pricey
S. D.
Great place a wide selection of teas and coffee. Vegan option on food locally sourced ingredients. Great selection on offer. Laid back and casual.

Lovely place ,seating abit tight , coffee was very nice , only downside was the QUEUE ...20 mins to order food ,1 lady taking orders ( needs to smile 😊 ) 1 young man on hot drinks ... definatly needs looking at (saw plenty of people walking out ) waiting staff were rushed off their feet and looked totally fed up !!!

Nice green tea when you having lunch.

Each time I visit Betws, I indulge in a full breakfast here at the Alpine - Welsh hospitality at its best! At present am chomping on the bit, waiting for the chance of visiting again!

Amazing food but not big enough for demand unfortunately! Pity the planners only let it have one toilet as public toilets were also shut. Queue for food, tables and toilets but worth it when we got the food!!

Great café with good food and excellent service. The only thing I would recommend is that they construct an additional toilet!! Then it would be perfect 👍🤸🎖️👏
