Reviews of Bennett's Cafe and Bistro
Lovely little cafe with seating in or out.
The waiters were very "matter of a fact" but they were polite and helpful.
There isn't a huge choice of food but certainly enough for a lunchtime snack.
We ordered some sandwiches for the kind and I had scrambled egg and salmon and it was very tasty.
The speed of service was amazing. Food was brought out within 10 minutes of ordering.
It wasn't super busy but there was a healthy turnover of customers.
No frills but a nice decent cafe.
We bumped into this cute little cafe while wondering around in York. Ordered Carrot cake, Scone with Cream and Jam, Hot chocolate, and coffees (Lattes).
Their carrot cake was a good portion and tasty, simply very yumm. Their scone with cream and jam is my favorite. They make good coffees and hot chocolate too!
Highly recommend this place ! Felt lucky to find this gem out of pure chance☺️🌝
An excellent eatery just by York Minster; really excellent food and drink, with very friendly and helpful staff and great service.
We popped in on Sunday and were lucky to get a table but it was well worth it - the goats cheese salad and ham hock terrine were really delicious and I'd heartily recommend to anyone.
Definitely would visit again, and will make a point of going back next time I'm in York.
A cute unassuming little cafe right by York Minister, we wanted some scones and tea so it hit the spot for us. Most other places to get scones you needed to order a whole morning or afternoon tea which was not what we wanted.
Scones were great, and so was the tea and coffee, coffee was a really large cup and my tea came with an additional pot of hot water. I had asked for some extra milk which was provided no cost.
The cafe seemed to attract the older generation, us having 20 good years on all of the patrons at the time of visit, this didn't bother us.
There were toilets, on the first floor up some steep narrow stairs
Given its position in the city it could be much more 'extra' so it was nice in a way that it wasn't
After leaving the station (we hot some very helpfull information from a man of the Tourist Info 😘), we walked to the Centre and had a milkshake and a lemon curd tart. Very nice and very English 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
We’ve got a table with a magnificent view of the York minster! I got the Yorkshire breakfast, which was great. The only thing is that I had no idea what the black pudding was, till I tasted it, and realised that I’m not a fan of it. 😂
Near to the York Minster, Bennett's was perfect for their fresh food, wonderful scones and professional staff. Perfect find for our day trip to York! Excellent value for prices.
Nice local cafe . Decent food. Important thing few free York tour happens from this point . Timing could be around 11am - 1 pm -3 pm. If you are on budget would recommend it. You may have to may like 2-5£ if you like the tour.
Lovely place with excelent service. I stayed for a coffee break during my trip to York and it was a sweet and relaxing moment of peace ☺️
