A. S.We got recommended to visit this place as we enjoy our Tea's and Coffees. Ive never been to a tea room where you have to queue to get in. And theirs a lot of tables, that alone told us its going to be great inside.
We was not disappointed.
We visited the shop after, again great value.
The staff are so helpful and friendly.
The food and drinks were maybe slightly more then your high street coffee shops, but the individual experience you got, the fresh pastries and drinks and decor was worth it. (When I say slightly more, maybe 10% more so not silly) not made to feel rushed.
Would we visit again? Yes we would

U. H.A beautiful tearoom located in central York. I was recommended to go here and on my visit to York, managed to stop by. We were in a queue for about 20-30 minutes, but the service was good. It was beautifully decorated inside, and we got some unique blends of tea, along with cake too. Personally, the prices were a little expensive so I would not come here again, but it was an amazing experience and more of a one off thing for me. If I could afford it though, I'd be here all the time!
R. D.Visited Betty's as an anniversary treat with my wife and it was such a great idea. The location is central in the city centre of York and the building and atmosphere inside was just lovely, apparently themed around a luxury liner, it is just a beautiful decadent venue.
We had the Champagne afternoon tea and it was as expected, lovely well made sandwiches and perfect little cakes and a couple of small but amazing scones.
We were allowed free refills on tea and another plate of sandwiches with no charge. We paid the extra fee for another glass of champagne.
Perfect for couples and families, it is just a lovely few hours that I highly recommend.
S. K.We had a lovely afternoon tea experience here. We had to wait for about 5 or 10 minutes, as it was a very busy Saturday afternoon. Service was very friendly & expedient. The tea service, finger sandwiches & sweets were all tasty as well. One of the servers shared the history of the property with us as well, which was very interesting. All in all we had a great experience here.
J. C.It didn't take us long time to wait for the seat. The earl tea is one of the greatest that I've tasted in UK. Yet, the scone didn't meet my expectation though it is still good, especially with the cream. As to the Yorkshire egg custard tart, I won't recommend it because personally I prefer crunchy taste. Overall, you can give it a try.
E. S.The best Tea Room in UK! Make you feels you are back in time, with very good service and elegance. We had a lovely breakfast, and an equally lovely lunch the next day. A little queue, but moving fast. The shop must also be visited. You can not leave York without buying some of the very special cakes they have at Betty's. Well worth a visit.
M. A.Good tea room, we ate in the basement and the atmosphere was pleasant. We had the afternoon tea, everything was tasty. Tea comes with a strainer, make sure you use it. There is a shop on the ground floor where you can buy chocolates and other souvenirs. Service is very quick.
L. B.Booked Afternoon Tea at the iconic Betty’s in York for my birthday. The venue is lovely and staff were very nice and attentive. As I have Parosmia (taste/smell disorder) they very kindly provided sandwiches that I could eat (plain cheese and cream cheese & smoked salmon). All of our afternoon teas were fairly tasty. The scones were tasty, but I feel very on the small size. All in all the price for a single afternoon tea is £34.95 and none of us felt that this was good value for money. Having had many afternoon teas this seemed the most ungenerous that I have had and the most costly. ☹️
A.A great bakery in York city center. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to dine in, but I bought their cakes for take away (berry cheesecake, strawberry tart, and English cake) and they were amazing. You shouldn't miss it if you are passing by.
E. W.Great service, the food comes quickly and is of high quality. I went at lunch, which was peak time, so expect the queue to be long. There is also a wide variety of food on the menu and they also serve fantastic afternoon tea.
