I would highly recommend that anyone in Edinburgh with an interest in photography should visit this shop. There is a good range of new and used lenses for various brands and cameras at different price points. There are also various accessories available including some lighting, bags and tripods. However what really sets this shop apart are the staff who are knowledgeable, friendly and don't aggressively upsell. Carlos listened to what I was after and provided great insight and advice. Specialist photography shops are not that common and this shop is a gem

Went to get a lens repaired with wex Edinburgh. It was a pretty difficult repair and the lens needed to be sent away to Germany. So it took ages (almost 3 months) with little updates on the repair progress. However, I have just been to pick up the lens now and wex have apologised to me for the delay and knocked a bit of money off. Really appreciate that. Venessa the sales person in that shop is great 👍

I know very little about cameras: not enough to be able to read and understand reviews, even though I have quite a good idea of what I want to be able to do with a (compact, long-zoom) camera. Completely confused, I rang Wex this afternoon and was lucky enough to be able to speak with Jason, who listened really well to my very specific needs. He suggested that I speak with someone at the Norwich Wex headquarters, because he said they would have specialists with in-depth knowledge of compact cameras, and I will be ringing them tomorrow. It was such a helpful suggestion: I had no idea that such specialists existed, and this sounds like exactly the right way to help me decide what camera to purchase. And I great admired the fact that Jason wanted me to have the best advice possible and felt that someone else was best-placed to give me that advice. I appreciate the time he spent with me, even though the camera I ultimately purchase will be at the lower end of what they stock. Very helpful, very classy.

I only went for advice as I'm considering buying a camera and wanted to see what some of the models looked like in real life as well as listen to the experience of the staff. Civil restrictions meant I had to wait until someone left before entering, but thats tr6for many shops and made me feel that they are taking safety seriously. I was given disposable plastic gloves so that I could pick up the cameras to get a proper feel of size and weight. I got really good service and the guy I spoke to was happy to spend time and didn't rush me. He knew what he was talking about and was able to answer all of my questions. He showed me 5 cameras and a number of lenses. I didn't buy today because the one I decided on means I have to save a little more, but I will definitely come back and make my purchase here. Update 28/11/2020 I went back having saved a bit more and dine some more research. Got great support again. Got to see the cameras I was interested in "in the flesh" and ask questions. Made my purchase of a Sony A7 iii and kit lens. Will definitely come back when I am ready for other lenses and accessories. Happy to recommend Wex. I've been back a few more times since. I always get good service, the staff are happy to spend time to make sure I have good info to make a purchase, and are honest to defer to a colleague or admit no knowledge if that's the case. Edinburgh store doesn't always have everything in stock, but given the product range that's not surprising. They are still happy to place the order on the website or advise alternate supplier. Will continue to go back and also to recommend this store.

Wex Edinburgh was really great. I've been in the Edinburgh store a couple of times now, finally starting my long-delayed move from film to digital. I'd never been in Wex before and was really impressed. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Denise was excellent, friendly, helpful, opinionated (in a really good way, and I mean that!) and she also brought in other staff members to give their views on various aspects where relevant. I spent ages in there and didn't feel any sales pressure, but when I'd made up my mind that's where I went back to buy everything. Given the dominance of online shopping, real shops need our support if they are to survive, but I would also say that the prices at Wex are good, plus you have the security of dealing with real people. It's not often I enjoy shopping and I thoroughly recommend Wex.

Zero pressure to buy anything, just knowledgeable guys who will give you an honest answer to pretty much any question you can throw at them. I called in at the Edinburgh Store to maybe buy a new tripod head as the current one was meant to be Arca Swiss compatible, but I was having problems with it and found the AS plates difficult to insert due to the screw projecting above the flat surface. Francesco and Oliver were very helpful, but the manager Francesco was outstanding, as he wanted to solve my problem, without me having to buy a new head, which would have cost more than the tripod. Several solutions surfaced, such as a new plate for the top of the tripod head, but then some inspiration and a new screw with a flat head instead of a projecting head solved my problem. Customer service here was brilliant. Many thanks to Francesco. I recommend this store.

I bought a G9 2 weeks ago from wex Edinburgh store. I went in to the open day to have a look at a prime lens. I bought one but then realised that they had an offer on the G9 that was £100 less than I paid 2 weeks previously. I felt awkward/cheeky but asked about a refund of some sort. Reese was brilliant. Rented a £1500 Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens over a weekend for £40. You can't argue with that. Some paperwork understandably required, but it's easy to just pick up and drop off your lens after hire.
