Can't say enough good things about this company. They started the loft in April and finished it in July. The delays were caused by the difficulties in getting materials due to lockdown and the shortage of delivery drivers following brexit. Our loft was finished to a high standard with the project manager offering money saving advice as well as advice on ascetics and design. He answered our queries in a speedy manner and checked in regularly! This room and bathroom have become my sanctuary. Thanks guys!

We have just had an extension completed by South London Lofts. This is the second time we have used them; they built our loft in 2016. They are a very honest and hardworking group of guys; we cannot fault their workmanship. The on-site builders were very respectful, each night they left the building site clean, tidy and secure. South London Lofts were so impressive when they built our loft, in 2016, that we knew when we were ready to get our extension, we would use them again. We did get a couple of quotes and South London Lofts were very competitive. Craig visited us on both occasions and went through the plan, outlining any additional costs we need to consider, this is made very clear and we were grateful, as they are not always apparent when you are thinking of have building work. Sergio our Project Manager was absolutely lovely, he always answered my calls and kept me well informed of each stage, he even helped us out on a few occasions, once when my son took the radiator off and our heating stopped, he sent a plumber immediately, at no extra cost. The quality of our build is amazing, we cannot fault it, we simply love the outcome. I would most definitely use them again and I would highly recommend them.

After seeing quite a few builders we chose South London Lofts. They were clear about the process, answered all our questions and they offered a good price. What sealed it for us was seeing a few of the jobs they had already done. One was done a good while back, which we wanted to see so we could see how the quality of the work stood up over time, and the other had just been finished a few days earlier and is a couple of streets from us. The people there told us how they had had very positive experiences of their build, and we could see ourselves the quality of everything. We have a mid-terrace 1930’s house now with a dormer loft conversion that gives us a very large bedroom, off which is a good sized shower room and toilet. We also made sure we had decent sized under eaves storage area for all the stuff like camping gear and Christmas stuff etc. It has a lovely wide and light stair up to it that just looks like a continuation of the original stair to the first floor, it matches it perfectly. 3 velux windows and French windows/doors at the back. There is a very high quality of finish all round and we are very happy with it all. I work from home, so I got to see a lot of the work as it progressed. The builders were always polite and considerate over things like minimising the dust that might come down into the house, which only happened once the stair hole was made. When they made the hole they put down protection for the stair below and hung drapes and neatly contained the mess. After that as there was some people traffic up through the house to the loft they put down protective plastic on the carpets up to the loft which when it was taken up revealed the carpets in the same condition they were in before the work began. We asked, during the build, for some extra work to be done – for instance I could see, when I went up and looked out the new Velux windows, that the parapet of the party wall, above the level of the tiled roof, between ourselves and our neighbour was in a bad state. The bricks looked like very bad tooth decay and not going to last, so I had that fixed and I had the front bays very tired roof felt redone. Both were done again to very high standard, the wall looks great, and the price was very fair. Any extra things we wanted were always very reasonably priced and it was always given very straight-forwardly, which I liked. This extended to things like a number of extra sockets, aerial sockets and deciding to have downlights in the 1st floor landing and bathroom below. The electricians were great both they and the plumber/bathroom fitters took the time to check and double check we were getting what we wanted, exactly where we wanted it. The plumbers handled the fittings we’d bought with the utmost care, careful not to scratch or mark anything - they were very sweet guys. We had an occasion when it looked like, because of the way the roof was constructed in one place, we might not be able to have the size of window in the stairwell we wanted, and that it might not be lined up how we wished. The lead first-fix carpenter was great, he said to leave it with him and then he came the next day with a solution and he was able to position it perfectly central between the stair well walls. Other things they took in their stride included how we wanted the Velux windows fitted, with a narrow engineered wooden bar that Velux provide, so windows could be close together and you maximise head height. The plasterer deserves a mention too, as he made these beautiful curves in the bedroom ceiling where the flat ceiling curves down to the sloping one. And he did this lovely curve of plaster work under the new stair, that you pass under when you go down to the ground floor. The roofers too did a great job, with real attention to detail with the flashings, everything. I’ve attached some pictures, so you can see something of what they did for us.

South London Lofts have just finished… South London Lofts have just finished my rear dormer conversion and we couldn't be happier with the finish. We now have a lovely sized bedroom with an en-suite shower room. We also decided to upgrade to the Aluminum windows and French doors, the finish is fantastic ! We were originally told the conversion would take around 8 weeks to complete and the team finished it in 7 weeks. They did an excellent job - they were quick and we liked that they had lots of experience doing our kind of house so they didn't ask us to make lots and lots of decisions.. It was all very easy! We’ve recently completed our loft conversion (master bed with en suite). The build process took 12 weeks, everything was carried out to a high standard. I know this because external tradesmen came to quote for flooring/decorating they all commented on how good the loft looked compared to some others they had seen. Brian (sales) was always on hand to help with any issues that arose and ensured they were solved promptly. Eg, we had a few leaks before the roof work could be done, they sent someone over straight away who laid three layers of tarpaulin. My electrics short circuited, they sent someone within the hour. All the tradesmen were on time, hard working, and friendly. I had a lot of ideas that I wanted implement, which were never a problem. I would definitely recommend SLL to anyone, they provide the whole service and work very quickly. What more could you ask for?!

The roof in our Victorian house was too low to pass the minimum head height for building regulation and not a single loft company wanted to help but South London Loft came up with a clever solution of dropping the ceiling below. My neighbour did his loft conversion last year and I was really impressed with the quality of work carried out by South London Lofts. At the outset, we discussed the issue of the party wall agreement, and agreed to avoid the need for party wall surveyors and the extra cost this incurs. I felt that I trusted the work of this company, which was why I chose them to do my loft too. How chuffed I was by the results. I suppose one of the highlights of South London Lofts' service was their use of builders who were polite, efficient and skilled; I can honestly state that I could find no fault throughout the 10 week build time: rare for a project such as this. Their price was more than reasonable, too. And so I have used South London Lofts on another project - I am perhaps the ultimate satisfied customer!

We also run our business from our home, so it was crucial that any issues or potential obstacles were also dealt with without delay and Brian certainly helped allay our initial fears and guided us through the planning process. Craig and the SLL team recently completed a mansard loft extension to our home in Brixton. We're delighted with the final result and the project was completed on time and on budget. I'd recommend SLL without hesitation. Here's what we liked: - We had quotes from a lot of loft companies before doing the work and decided to go with SLL on the basis that they offered a competitive quote, but also because Craig was very knowledgable about the Lambeth planning process and knew exactly what we would and wouldn't be allowed. He knew his stuff. - SLL took care of the design drawings and planning application for us and discussed all the options along the way. - When the work was due to begin we were assigned a project manager who walked us through the timetable of works and explained what we should expect. There were no surprises and we could keep track of the schedule to make sure things were on track. - Mangis (our PM) was excellent, always available on the phone and sorted problems quickly. - The builders from start to finish were polite, friendly and professional. They worked hard and they took care of the place, cleaning up after each day. - The build came in on time and on budget, with all structural works done in around 7 weeks, and finishing touches were done after 9 weeks. - We had a few issues getting building control to sign off on the project, but this was due to staff errors on their side, SLL were proactive in sorting this out for us. All in all, SLL provided a great service and we'd use them again.

We were impressed with the way our project manager, Darius, controlled the work. He was always available by mobile phone or text message (even when on holiday), and the arrangements he made all happened as planned. We were also impressed with the energy and application of the tradesmen who did the work. The builders in particular were regularly on site at 8 am and worked a full day before closing up the temporary roofing for the night. All involved cleaned up after themselves, and the builders formed the hole in the existing ceiling to accommodate the new staircase without dropping any mess onto the old staircase at all. The result is that the wasted space occupied by the old loft has been converted into a couple of smart bedrooms and a neat shower room.

South London lofts gave a competitive/in line quote versus the three or four quotes we received. From agreeing to go ahead to starting the project there was good communication so we knew when to expect the team. We were assigned a project manager who dealt with several unforseen /unfortunate problems with practicality and efficiency. There was a language barrier with the project manager and work men which at times made communication a little more difficult but face to face contact always sorted this out. The biggest plus was versus other big building work we have carried out, this team was so much quicker and more efficient. They were there every day working hard and working long hours and their work ethic was exceptional I would say. They also spent time covering and protecting other parts of the house to minimise upheaval and mess elsewhere. The team referred us to painters and Carpenders for additional work and these referrals were also of a similar excellent standard, good quotes and hard working efficiency. In relation to the unforeseen circumstances, the architect team at south London lofts were really good at drawing alternative 3D options for us and being patient to explain why certain things would or wouldn't work and they did this at no extra cost. I have recommended this firm to other friends and would use them again if we wanted to move and do another attic conversation.

South London Lofts actually extended into the dead space that was the side return and knocked down a chimney breast to create a light modern very spacious kitchen. SLL did a fantastic job for us. I had a loft built over the summer with them. I must admit that I was a little anxious at the beginning (not because I was using SouthLondon lofts but because it was the biggest and most expensive project I undertook for my house). I realised quickly that I was happy with the choice of the company I made as I couldn't fault the craftsmanship. The quality of the work is very good. Having major work in your house is very stressful but if your are on top of it in terms of time management and communication the project should run very smoothly. Paul, my project manager, did answer my calls and texts when I had questions. I made it very clear at the start of the project that I needed to know what was coming next even if this meant nothing was going to happen for a week or two. Having an idea of what was coming next (or not) helped me be less impatient. I learnt that there is an order to the work and that some specialist traders couldn't come before others. I believe that the reason why this project ran smoothly is because of the clear communication from the start. I was very insistent on clarity. Paul was frank. The bottom line is that you have to be on top of the project as well as your project manager. Remember that the project manager deals with many projects at the same time and might not be aware of an issue you have unless you tell him. You can tell that these guys know one thing or two about lofts but are prepared to listen to your needs as well. My advice : having a vision from the beginning helps! Overall they built the loft the way I imagined it.

Something funny about the "Mike Beaton" review - unusual name for a woman! Anyway, I was amazed by how efficient and unobtrusive everyone was despite the fact that they were rebuilding the roof and installing stairs. Their architect showed us how we could have a substantial terrace for only a few thousand extra, and the inevitable unexpected problems which arose were cleared up promptly and courteously. And they willingly came back a couple of months later when a minor problem with the roof emerged. Exceeded all expectations.
