Argentine tango at is best. A lovely venue and a warm and welcoming class. Simon and Emily are wonderful teachers. Sunday night is the highlight of my week. If you think you can’t dance - try it - you may surprise yourself.

This Tango class is amazing! We love Simon and Emily and all the lovely people who come here, they are excellent teachers. I've been to other classes and there is such a great vibe here. Maybe because it's smaller and because they seem to have a lot of long term regulars, I'm not sure, but it's definitely 'special'. They do an offer thing where you can bring a new person for free too. Great venue and lush Sunday dinners before or after the class a must. Eat loads and then burn it off! Would definitely recommend.

Welcoming, friendly and fun! There were a few absolute beginners like me in the class and within the hour we were able to move around the dancefloor and enjoy the music. Great atmosphere at the social dancing after the class. You can bring up your drinks and the bar staff will bring food orders upstairs too. Highly recommend!

As a student it has been so fun coming here with friends every weekend!! I definitely recommend it for people who have had no experience as well as people who have a lot of experience! The social dancing is so much fun and everyone is so kind!! I’m very happy to have come here :,)

One of the best Argentine Tango schools in London. Small but perfectly formed.
I've been learning Argentine Tango on and off for 12 years with really good teachers, but I never quite 'got it' until I started learning with Simon and Emily at London Tango Classes (Tango 178) first in Peckham then New Cross. With them I really found the confidence to dance socially rather than going to class after class learning 'fancy' moves which I could never do and was probably a painful experience for those I led. Their style is about connection and simplicity and consideration for the other dancers rather than flicking your legs in places they don't quite fit through or other 'Strictly show moves'.
The best things about them are:
- Simon and Emily are the most incredibly lovely and friendly people and brilliant teachers
- There's just a gorgeous community of people who learn and dance socially at London Tango Classes (Tango178). It's so warm and the level of dancing is really good (but not too intimidating).
- The NEW VENUE!! They've just moved to a new venue in New Cross, called The New Cross House and it is brilliant. The upstairs room is just the right size for an intimate social event, enough space to dance, but very arty and bohemian (lots of nude bottoms and chests as they run life drawing classes there too - not for the prudish!) It suits Argentine Tango down to ground though. Plus the staff there are super lovely, they've just welcomed the Tango community to their hearts. They also do great food, proper rustic pizzas in a proper massive pizza oven which is on view downstairs and quite the spectacle to watch. The ambiance is great too, a thriving venue. I couldn't recommend this Tango school enough.

We loved it! Simon and Emily are great teachers and the other students and dancers were really friendly and made us feel very at home. If you're an absolute beginner and feel a bit nervous about doing your first class, this is definitely the place to go.

It's a shame it's only once a week. I love it. The teachers are gorgeous people and the venue staff are really friendly too.

Simply cannot recommend these classes and milongas highly enough. In this vibrant proper local barrio celebrating the Villa Uquiza tango tradition, you'll find a mix of dedicated South Londoners and visitors from all over, embracing in an airy, lofty location, with good floor, great wall art and lovely food and booze. And then of course there's the outstanding music courtesy of Simon and other talented DJs to complete the nostalgic atmosphere. Come!
