Cuban Dance School, led by Luanda Pau is one of a kind. I have been taught Cuban dance techniques, from Afro to Rumba, Son and Salsa and much more. Luanda is an incredibly talented teacher, she not only does weekly classes but weekend workshops so everyone can join at their convenience. Her lessons are paced well and absolute beginners are welcome. Her classes teach all levels, intermediate and advanced levels too. She has not only taught me expert-level dance but also the history of Cuban dance and the cultural significance of every dance. I find her musicality, flare and background in dance highly valuable and believe she is the best when it comes to teaching the vast umbrella forms of Cuban dance.

Luanda is a fantastic teacher and is so knowledgeable about Cuban dance. Her classes have structure and she breaks down all the moves so that beginners like me can easily follow and make great progress whilst the more advanced students can work on the finer detail, add flavour and do harder variations. She's very friendly and welcoming and has often made me feel better when I'm having a bad day! The live music she often has elevates the classes even more! (pre COVID of course!). I have recently participated to the on-line class “Similarities and differences between Orishas” and I was impressed with Luanda as a teacher, always looking for ways to make classes exciting, while giving her students precious hints to become better dancers. In the specific case of the mentioned class, I found great the idea to show similarities between different Orishas. It gives us a very useful angle to get better understanding of the rhythms of the beautiful while challenging youruba dance. So, in conclusion, I would like to recommend Luanda to dancers of any levels, who want to get better in Afrocuban dances. I am not giving max number of stars, only because I am waiting for the first occasion to take part to live classes (on the other side of corona crisis)

Luandapau is a world class instructor! Her offline and online lessons are equally power packed. She takes all the effort to ensure her students get the the steps and the right technique behind them. Her energy and smile is absolutely infectious! Highly recommended her classes for absolutely anyone who is interested in afro Cuban dance forms.

Luanda is an incredible dancer and an even better teacher. Her classes are great because she breaks down movements and rhythms and simplifies them so that they become super-easy to understand and imitate. Everyone who comes to the classes are really friendly too; and everyone is welcome, which makes for a warm and fun atmosphere! Especially as a beginner, I was made to feel really at home in her classes and she was really patient with myself and all of the other students. No matter the student’s level, Luanda’s attention to detail; patience; mastery of the dance and warm personality; mean that everyone walks out of the class with a smile on their face (and afew new dance moves in their pocket). I would wholeheartedly recommend!!!

What can I say about Luanda? My dancing of Rumba and Orishas has significantly got better since I started taking her classes! (so I was told by my critical friends:-))) She incorporates all aspects - the dance steps, rhythms, songs, cultural background etc in her teaching, which helped me to understand deeper and dance better. She is very attentive to students questions, and has keen eyes on each students even when the class is big. She explains clearly about what each body parts should be doing. Her enthusiasm permeates in her class and you can’t stop dancing. And she is also fun. What can I ask more?! Oh one more thing, she is an instigator of Afro Cuban dance events including dance course in Cuba and student performances in London. Join us!

Just wanted to say your classes are great - time flies by! Your teaching is easy to follow & the videos are really helpful - just need to give them a bit of time to practise. I find it easier to follow the rumba steps than the Orisha - the rhythms are difficult - I can usually feel the music but with the Orisha drum beats its confusing but super interesting so would like to continue trying :) Oh yes and my words to describe how dance makes me feel - Happy, sensuous and free :) so good to find it again - Thanks I really like your classes Luanda.

Thank you so much! I very much enjoyed class yesterday, and your very thorough and well thought teaching style. Excellent technique! And love learning the names of the steps, and how to fit into song lyrics. So so good. I wish I had been training with you all along, I think there must have been super good things in the Beginner Orisha classes too that I know I missed. But even so, you gave a good review if you noticed that we needed to have something explained further. So grateful for the training videos too. It makes it such a valuable experience.

What a spectacular event! Having participated in various dance weekenders/ other events, Luanda Pau’s Afro event was up there as one of the best.
