I have recently seen the periodontist Saffina for an assessment of my gums and subsequently this was followed by a course of appropriate treatment. This was the first time I had met Saffina and I felt immediately at ease with her as she was so warm, welcoming and reassuring. I've always been terrified of the dentist, to the point that i didn't go for many years, however, Samir and Saffina are absolutely brilliant. So friendly, put you at ease and it's not just putting you at ease that counts. It's the real test when you get someone who spent their whole life terrified of being in the chair.... my testament is; I nearly fell asleep during my root canal treatment. I'm even terrified of the injection before the treatment starts. Not any more, Samir talks you through the process, he numbs my mouth before even going in with the needle. He counts me down so i know when it's coming and how long it's going to take. They've both taken away my fear and sleepless nights of being in the chair. Received the best treatment at Charminster House. My treatment involved dealing with different specialists in the practice and prior to attending my first appointment I was nervous and stressed. Everybody in the practice treated me with such care and so professionally I cannot recommend them highly enough. Saffina was an absolute super star!! I had minor gum surgery and she helped me to feel calm and happy about the whole process. She was a pleasure to see during the process and the other members of staff at Charminster House Dental always welcomed me with a smile. The actual periodontal work was spectacular and worked perfectly and I no longer have to worry about a receding gum line. Saffina did an amazing job and even called me a couple of times after the procedure to ensure that I was ok and to see if I needed any additional help. Samir saw my daughter for a same day emergency appointment when she broke off half her front tooth during an accident. He spent time explaining her options and made sure that both my daughter and myself were fully involved in her care. I felt extremely confident in his ability as a dentist and he expertly repaired her tooth with a filling material so that it looked the same as before the accident. Thanks to a brilliant job, my daughter can smile again, has had no symptoms since and the tooth shouldn’t need any further work. My dentist referred me to the Charminster house dental practice after being diagnosed with a severe gum disease, we even discussed the possibility of implants on some of my teeth! However, after my non surgical periodontal treatment by the one and only Saffina, my gum disease has improved significantly and my teeth are no longer loose! The treatment itself was quite uncomfortable and the teeth and gums were a little sensitive afterwards for a week or so. At all times Saffina with her lovely dental nurse Adele were very sympathetic and supportive, which makes any pain go away! They were also very educative and taught me how to brush my teeth and use special brushes to ensure a good clean. I can’t recommend the treatment and the dentist enough! Great experience from the receptionist to the fantastic end result! A special thanks To Saffina for saving my teeth!

Couldn’t have thanked Saffina enough for her help! As well as Josie and the rest of the team. I was referred to them via my dentist because my gum disease had got so bad I needed to see a specialist. Saffina was very clear every step of the way on what they were going to do and what I needed to do. Josie was brilliant every time she cleaned my teeth. When I went to them I thought I was going to loose my teeth. Today I have been told I’ve done it and will not be loosing them for now. Fantastic team, great people, amazing work! I moved to Bournemouth in 1986 and over the subsequent 30+ years I have been treated by a number of dentists in the area, some that were excellent (but retired or relocated from the area) and some that - to be perfectly honest - left me wanting to run for the hills. Having found Charminster House Dental Practice a couple of years ago, I feel confident in saying that my search has ended for the best such practice in the area. I just hope that they don't retire early or move somewhere else. Everything about their service is excellent. After an initial examination by Samir, I was first of all referred to Adele for a session of dental health education and she introduced me to a series of techniques that made perfect sense - once explained - but had never been explained to me at any of the practices that I'd attended over the previous three decades. Her clear, expert and friendly advice has contributed to my engaging in much better personal dental care practices. I was then provided with some complex periodontal treatment - by Saffina - that might have proved to be painful but her exceptional skill mitigated against such an outcome (I took a single Paracetamol tablet after the first treatment, realised that I didn't actually need that even, and took nothing after the second treatment). An exceptional professional, Saffina conducts her work with great friendliness and empathy and has turned things around for me in the dental health department. Samir likewise is a commensurate professional, friendly and reassuring and quite clearly a perfectionist. He explains everything with great clarity and has performed a series of treatments on me, all to perfection. In the process of replacing a lost crown on one of my teeth, the temporary crown that he fitted lasted longer than the permanent crown (fitted by a previous dentist) had, all the way up to the fitting of the permanent crown itself (I suspect the temporary one would have lasted for years anyway; from the off it felt better fitted and stronger than the permanent crown that I had lost). Samir has also rectified previous route canal work (performed by past dentists), the difference in quality abundantly evident - even to this layman - in the X-Rays that he talked through with me with great clarity. I've actually dozed off in the chair on a few occasions when he has been treating me. Maybe I need more sleep, but I do believe it testament to just how good he is in his work. I receive dental hygiene treatment from Jessica who yet again is someone that is both supremely professional, friendly and imbued with empathy. Her work and ongoing advice is faultless. Additionally, this is the only dental practice that I have attended where the dental hygienist works with an assistant, at each and every session. The tone of friendliness at the practice starts at the front door. The receptionists are just brilliant, too. I'm not a nervous dental patient myself and handle pain philosophically but I dare say that if you are nervous of visiting dentists, you should try this practice as they'll likely turn around your perception of what dental treatment is like. If you're not a nervous dental patient and you're simply after excellent service and treatment, then this is likewise the place for you.

I was referred to Saffina at Charminster House by my own dentist as I was suffering from poor gums and early onset of peridontal disease. I am delighted to say that after treatment at Charminster House over the last 18 months, this is no longer the case. The treatment and service provided by Saffina and the team of hygienists and dental nurses has been excellent. The welcome is always friendly which places the patient at ease, and the explanations and advice were clear. I've been told I don't need to come back now, which is great news although I shall be sorry not to see the dental team at Charminster House again. I can thoroughly recommend this practice, especially for patients with peridontal (gum) issues.

Saffina and the team explained the cause and is worth the effort treating these things early to avoid tooth loss. I'm now confident about controlling this going forward. Samir Jivjar is very professional and positive in his treatment of your dental health. He is also friendly which eases any nerves. Everything is explained clearly and if you are nervous about attending the dentist this would be a good practice to go to. A treatment plan is printed off at the end of treatment which I personally found very helpful.
