I have always been very nervous visiting the dentist, and have been quite anxious every time, even a check up. Thought I would try Gentle Dentistry and would give them ten stars if I could. All the staff there are so welcoming and when I had to have a long appointment with Dan to redo my front teeth recently, him and Claudia were so reassuring, kind, patient with me and very gentle. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

I have been a client for more than ten years and would not hesitate to recommend the practice and Dan Cantrell in particular. I have had remedial work done on previous dentistry (from a previous dentist), an implant and most recently, a crown fitted. All were pain free and beautifully done, the technology Dan has to hand makes the job so much quicker and accurate first time round for him to complete and without multiple visits. This is reassuring for someone who is fearful of having treatments so you can feel confident about making an appointment.

I had a double filling performed by Ed, and the whole customer experience was excellent. Choice of your music to settle the nerves was a nice touch, and despite being in the chair for 90 or so minutes it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I was expecting 😃 Both teeth needed to be drilled out, but no pain at all and both look brilliant with the white filling material. Ed totally put me at ease for the whole time and I am really happy with the result.

My son is 7 and, after a series of unfortunate teeth problems, has started to develop a serious phobia of anything dental. I was starting to think after several failures at other places that we would have to put him to sleep for something as benign as extracting a tooth... The whole team at Gentle Dentistry did a fantastic work. I have recently completed a course of treatment at Gentle Dentistry. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The hygienist was experienced and very knowledgeable, gave excellent advice and for the first time ever the scale and polish was pain free. I saw the wonderful Dr Ed Gazdov, was given a thorough examination and a treatment plan that could proceed at a pace of my choosing. I had several procedures all carried out expertly, without pain and in a relaxed atmosphere. The dental nurses were very kind and attentive, constantly checking that I was comfortable and pain free. I am delighted with the outcome of the treatment I received and cannot recommend this practice enough.

What a tremendous team! An old crown needed replacing as I'd chipped a bit off the back and food was getting stuck. With previous dentists I've had to go away after one appointment with a temporary crown that invariably got swallowed or mistaken for chicken gristle and then go back a fortnight later for a crown made off-premises to be fitted with the inevitable "adjustment" because the impressions were slightly off. Not at Gentle Dentistry. No impressions required. Just a completely pain free scan of your mouth with Magician Dan's little magic wand once the old crown had been removed - painless - no anaesthesia required, although it was offered, followed by a 45 minute wait whilst the dentist's equivalent of a 3D printer did its work. Fifteen further minutes for it to be fitted and off I went. Less than 2 hours start to finish and almost half off it sat on the beach whilst the crown was made. Dan is staggeringly good at what he does; Gentle by name, Gentle by nature. He and his team of professionals have state of the art equipment, are knowledgeable and skilful. Why go anywhere else?

Ive had major problems with my teeth in the past, from having front teeth knocked out as a teenager, poorly fitting crowns causing gum problems, some poor root canal work in the past, compounded by an intolerance to some anaesthetics like lidocaine, plus a scuba diving hobby that doesn't tolerate imperfect fillings. I hated my teeth, and also going to the dentist, but Dan, Claudia and their team are so gentle and professional, and the environment so lovely, that it's not too bad, and the results have been astonishingly good, my smile has been transformed. I very much doubt there is a team anywhere that is better.

Having had two teeth removed by an NHS dentist, I was left needing a private practice to have some implants and new crowns fitted. I started my search looking at reviews of local dentists, and quickly focused in on Gentle Dentistry when reading the consistently high quality reviews. From the first meeting with Dan and his team I immediately felt at ease and thought this would be the dental practice for me. This feeling was confirmed when I returned two weeks later to be presented with a very detailed and professional report that Dan spent considerable time talking me through and explaining the fully costed recommendations in detail and answering all of my questions. Over the course of my treatment I have been impressed with the whole team who are professional, friendly and welcoming at every visit. Each time the procedure has been explained in detail, and carried out to the highest possible standards, in a very relaxed and calm environment. The high tech equipment that Dan has installed at the practice is truly amazing, and compliments his skill as the best dental surgeon that you could wish for. Overall I am very pleased that I chose Gentle Dentistry, the results have been amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone….. don’t waste your time looking elsewhere, this place simply can not be bettered.

After many years of neglecting my oral health and poor NHS dentistry I found I was becoming embarrassed about my appearance so I decided to find a dentist. I found one that I thought stood out above all the others (GENTLE) so I contacted them, I was received with a friendly and professional welcome, so I made an appointment for a consultation. On my first consultation I was welcomed with the same friendly professionalism I had on my first contact, this was the first time I was going to meet my dentist Edward. Edward made me feel at ease immediately, so did the whole team. Edward talked me through the plan in fine detail and I knew I had made a good choice. During my treatment I was given great care and the team made sure of my comfort at all times. They have given me my smile back, correction a great smile. We arrived at Gentle Dentistry and were instantly welcomed and made to feel at ease. We came with our 7 year old son who had had two previous bad experiences at another practice so my poor son was absolutely terrified. Izzy (practice manager) at the front desk was so cheerful and ever so kind to us especially with my son that he agreed to go into the surgery. Dr Ed Gazdov was incredibly patient and skillful with a 7 year old who was refusing to open his mouth! We, as parents, were getting anxious that we were talking up their time but at no point were we made to feel that way and in fact Claudia and Izzy (who came in to help as well) were so reassuring and supportive, between the three of them and a long hour later my son opened his mouth. Dr Gazdov successfully completed the treatment and my son has said that he will only go to Dr Ed, Claudia and Izzy from now onwards. We will not be going to any other dentists from now onwards. I went to see Dan first, but before that I was met in reception where the receptionist was kind and most of all friendly to me. The atmosphere was one of relaxed perfection. I was met by Dan who understood totally my fear of dentistry. We had a relaxing chat first. Then he asked me what music I liked, there was a tv screen as well. As I sat in the chair, he assured me and promised me he would not hurt me and he did not. We had x rays and CT done of teeth and gums. He explained what he could do. He made me feel safe! Made me feel trust. Which instantly lifted some of my fear. Then he made an appointment for the hygienist. I was very scared about that. I need not have been. I can honestly say it was an amazing experience. The first time in my 71 years I had a pain free experience. The girls were amazing, kind and reassuring all the time. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave the service and experience you receive at 'Gentle' is exceptional. The treatment and clinical managers are so warm and welcoming, they make arranging your treatment plan so easy and they always make the time to call you back to check that your treatment has gone to plan. I had two visits with the dental therapy team. They could not have been more professional in they way they carefully cleaned my teeth. These are the only times I've experienced painless visits to a dental hygienist. My dentist, Ed, and all the dental nurses are exceptional. I had significant dental repairs conducted by the team. The work was completed to the highest standards. I've gone from having a mouth full of problems to a set of teeth I'm delighted with. The whole team is delightful, they really care about the quality of the service they provide and they take care of you for every moment you're with them; it's no surprise it's called the 'Gentle Dentistry'.

When we retired to Dorset 12 years ago, despite a 250 mile round trip, as we were very happy with the care provided and were reluctant to change we continued to regularly drive to Hertfordshire to see the the dentist who had treated us for many years. Prior to a scheduled check up we were told that he had decided to move to Cornwall and rather than see another dentist in the same practice, we took the opportunity to move to another closer to home. We talked to many friends and several of them recommended the various practices they used. A respected retired dentist friend told us about Gentle Dentistry saying that in his opinion that we would not find better outside of Harley Street. We immediately made appointments for initial inspections which lead to comprehensive and understandable treatment plans. From our first contact Dan and all the team at Gentle Dentistry have given us highly personal and caring attention, using state of the art equipment with skill and technical knowledge to match they have more than confirmed our friend’s recommendation. Dan’s response when a crown came off on Boxing Day was totally unexpected. As they were closed for the holiday I sent an email not expecting a response until the New Year. Dan phoned on the 28th December and asked if I could get to the surgery. Two hours after arriving, following extensive repair work to the remaining tooth, I left with a perfect new crown which had been manufactured on site. Their passion for what they do is remarkable and we are delighted to now benefit from it.

Gentle Dentistry is certainly the most pleasant tooth-based building I could imagine! The waiting room doesn’t feel like a waiting room (more like a small hotel foyer); it is roomy and has comfortable sofas and nice big windows. It doesn’t feel medical, or have the slightly uneasy, shabby feeling of many waiting rooms. You don’t have to sit staring at motivational tooth cleaning posters! The toilet is delightful. I’m not sure I’ve ever met a delightful dentist toilet before 😂. When you arrive for an appointment, you are always expected and recognised (at least, after the first time!). The rooms have an armchair where you can sit down and chat about your treatment. When in the actual dentists chair, there is mood lighting on the ceiling and a TV directly over you on the ceiling, that you can watch as a distraction. I usually have a bit of a snooze, but often countdown is on, which works quite well with the sound off! You will probably be asked what music you’d like to listen to, which is great. If you are awkward about this, like me, you can always ask to listen to whatever your dentist would like to listen to :) I have seen both Dan and Ed, the dentists, as well as Bronya, the hygienist. They are all very friendly, and relaxing people to be around. I have had two fillings (my first) done by Ed, in one appointment, and I could not tell you which teeth they were in, as I cannot see or feel them. He was extremely thorough in making sure my teeth, and bite, felt right at the end of the fillings (even though I was too awkward to say, “no, it still feels weird” - he kept going until it was perfect). The whole process was surprisingly fast, and, of course, painless. I have had two wisdom teeth removed by Dan, in one appointment, which was a remarkably pleasant experience, and over extremely quickly. Not the ordeal I was expecting! My first visit to a hygienist was also here, and this was the most gentle de-scaling I’ve ever had. More like a gum massage! I actually look forward to it. Embarrassingly, I do not remember the names of the nurses I have met (sorry), but they are also fantastic and calming. You don’t need to be “afraid of dentists” to come here, or even pretty awkward, like me, it’s just really nice in general. Sadly, they are only dentists to humans , otherwise I’d be booking all my ferrets in to have their impressive collection of teeth cleaned. I’m sure everyone at Gentle Dentistry is glad to have weaseled out of that one!

I first encountered Gentle Dentistry in September 2016, after horrific experiences with a local NHS practice and in Singapore. I grew up in a part of Africa where dentistry was appalling and have always hated and resented the cost of it. As a consequence, I have avoided the dentist except where absolutely necessary. My initial treatment, while quite expensive, was outstanding. The team were lovely from the start: consummately professional, friendly and caring. The surgeries and Reception were welcoming and professionally kitted out. For a variety of reasons (my life is a constant roller coaster of rags to riches to rags), I was not able to complete the initial dental plan in 2018. After a trip to New York early in 2020, I had a problem with a 'temporary' bridge that had been in my mouth over 3 ½ years (it was that well made at the outset). I went to see Dan Cattell just before the initial lockdown in March 2020. As always, he was charming, efficient and professional. Through 2020 & 2021 I was beset by problems largely resultant from covid and its after effects on my small consulting business and going to the dentist was the last thing on my mind. Just before Christmas the long lasting 'temporary' bridge finally broke. After a few very unsatisfactory calls to dentists claiming to accept NHS patients, I knew I had to go back to people that I liked and trusted. I called Gentle Dentistry. Katie was amazing; she found all my original records (pre-digitalisation), spent a long while reading through my history and called me to arrange an appointment with Dan for the second day after the practice re-opened from its Christmas break. Somewhat apprehensively (finances remain an issue), I arrived for my appointment yesterday afternoon (5 January 2022). Little did I know that Dan did not usually work on Wednesday afternoons, so he was doing me a very special favour. The practice and surgeries have had a make-over since I was last there. It was always an attractive and welcoming venue, but now its 'karma' and ambience is mind-blowing. Everything about it exudes professionalism and state of the art dental technology. It is no wonder the practice receives such outstanding reviews. Dan and I had a brief chat. As always he was caring and understanding. He then offered me an amazing 'deal' not only to replace the temporary bridge but also to do a quick fix on a crown that broke earlier in 2021. 90 or so minutes later, I left the surgery, smiling yet again. It was an amazing and wonderful experience being treated so gently and calmly in what was a very lengthy session for both Dan and his delightful nurse, Aya. Once out in Reception, it was great to see the lovely Izzy, who I have known since I first went to Gentle Dentistry. Such a really great person who has climbed through the ranks of the practice. It is a great pleasure to write this (lengthy) review. These folk all really deserve the accolades they receive!

My husband and I have been using this dental practice for over 13 years. Both of us initially had a full dental plan mapped out for us, and both of us had our mouths returned to full dental health. The treatments were at no point painful or frightening. As others have said, this is the place if you are nervous and or have not been to a dentist for a while. You need not worry you will be in safe hands!! Everything is explained to you before it happens and its all at your own speed. Dan is brilliant and always up to date with new advances in dentistry. The surgery is super techno and there's even a tv in the ceiling to distract you while you are receiving treatment! The dental team are all kind, friendly, patient - and with a very positive attitude. We have come to view the team as friends and are totally relaxed when we visit. Today I met Edward who did a quick fix on a front tooth which was scratching. No problem, no fuss and done in seconds. Magic! I cannot recommend this dental practice enough.

Cannot recommend this practice highly enough! They have a superb team with a state of the art equipment. It's surprisingly difficult to find a decent dentist that cares. To find a fantastic one like Ed Gazdov is extremely rare, so I drove 4 hours to see him! Ed is really kind and gentle, he is super thorough in his work yet manages to put you at ease throughout and explain everything. He prepared a very detailed treatment plan that we discussed at length and I'm actually excited to begin treatment and get my mouth healthy again! I was being treated at a local NHS dentist who told me I needed a tooth removed but they couldn't do it as it was a complex procedure. So I began to search for a private dentist and came across Gentle Dentistry. I booked an appointment and was seen by Dan. My Husband and I continue to be amazed at the level of excellence we experience whenever we require dental treatment. We are both subscribers to a regular plan and both have had the most fantastic implants and been attended to brilliantly on those few occasions when an emergency has arisen. After being told I needed extractions or root canal with a massive wait almost everywhere I phoned Gentle Dentistry. The polite receptionist made me an appointment for the next day. Ed was extremely inviting and reassuring . He blasted my favourite music and the chair was incredibly comfortable. The nerves faded as he managed to save my tooth because the actual tooth nerve was still alive despite the tooth being so broken which we celebrated and he made a beautiful white cap -this was all sorted within two hours . The level of professionalism and care shown by Dr. Dan, Issie and their wonderful team is second to none. After having orthodontic treatment but then not wearing a retainer at another establishment, Dan and his team recommended Invisalign and the results have been extraordinary. Not only was there no need for putty to take impressions due to Dr Dan’s investment in the most advanced technology available, the time it took to straighten my wonky bottom teeth was unbelievably short. I was also interested in tooth whitening and the results have been equally great- having experienced no sensitivity and I can now say I love my smile! I phoned Dental Dentistry seeking an emergency appointment & was seen the same day. Izzy (the practice manager) was very understanding on the phone & welcoming when I arrived. I hadn't left my flat in over a year (due to a health condition & shielding during covid times) so this was a daunting prospect for me but as soon as I met Ed, my dentist, he made me feel at ease. Ed is the best dentist I've ever met, I felt completely listened to & he has a lovely empathetic, calming manner... as well as a great sense of humour! One of the aspects I especially enjoyed was being able to choose whatever music I wanted to listen to, which really enabled me to relax during my tooth extraction. The dental nurses were also very kind & reassuring during the procedure. I felt in safe hands the whole time. The follow-up care I've received from Ed has been the highest quality. He genuinely wants the best for his patients and treats each one with attentive consideration. I think dental well-being is definitely something worth investing in and I highly recommend Dental Dentistry.

I am thrilled to be able to give the following feedback for Gentle Dentistry after my sisters recommendation that I visit the practice for a thorough check-up. Ed unfortunately found a cracked tooth with 2 Mercury fillings in it. I knew that the importance of care when removing the fillings was essential due to toxicity. We hoped that this and restoration would be enough, but during that later visit it became evident that a crown was also needed. Luckily there was time to have this made on-site and fitted the same day using the amazing technology available. The appointment was clear and concise and I really felt that they had my best interests at heart. Since my review of the hygenist below I've been for dental treatment and cannot fault it. Ed and Johanna really put me at ease and even the injection wasn't that bad! I really appreciated seeing a full plan of their recommendations with photos and decided to go for an optional in-depth cleaning process I've never been offered anywhere else as well as a few fillings that needed replacing. I'm really pleased with the results. I would highly recommend this practice for anyone wanting to take care of their mouth. Worth every penny! Went for a hygenist appointment as I was not satisfied with my current dentist. The cleaning was by far the most comprehensive treatment I've ever had but the hygenist was gentle and explained everything she was doing. Also have a TV to distract you, which I found helpful. It is expensive compared to other dentists but for me totally worth it an I felt I was getting a top-notch treatment.

My first visit to this lovely practice was for a routine check-up and dental cleaning. My whole experience from the moment I entered the clinic until I left was just superb. I walked in to Gentle Dentistry as a new patient with a very painful infected tooth on Monday lunchtime... 48 hours later I had had a check up, multiple x-rays, a full 180 degree scan, received a hard copy of my detailed treatment plan and a verbal review of it, root canal procedure (completed pain free) - in which Dan was able to save my tooth where my previous Dentist had advised my only options were to have a gap or pay an additional £1200 for an implant. In all of this I received top-class patient care and attention at all times from all the staff there, and was given every opportunity to ask questions, halt procedures, express any concerns. Miracle workers! Anxiety and past bad experiences resulted in ten years of neglect, pain, and embarrassment. The team at Gentle Dentistry made me feel so relaxed and have really changed my outlook on dentistry - I no longer dread it! The comprehensive checkup identified several teeth that needed varying levels of work and each restoration (and even a root canal) has been comfortable and carried out with great care, all while keeping me informed and never feeling rushed. A television mounted on the ceiling, headphones, and music all allow you to concentrate on something else if you are nervous. I never thought I'd fall asleep during a filling but it happened! All the staff I've met have been fantastic and kind. Dan, my dentist, is exceptional; he clearly loves what he does and is incredibly skilled both technically and in making you feel at ease. My dental implants were placed 15 years ago by Dan on Harley St, London and are still as perfect as the day they were fitted. Having managed to avoid the dentist for almost ten years I was forced to go to Gentle Dentistry by my wife who had recently become a new patient of theirs and insisted that I go. I did not have good teeth, I had avoided going previously not out of any fear but of general ignorance to the condition of my own teeth and benefit that could be received in regular check-up’s and deep cleaning offered by the hygienist. I had not paid any care to them (other than half-hearted brushing) for some time. I had braces fitted when I was a teenager and despite the advice at the time I clearly knew better and did not wear the retainer provided after they were removed. Twenty years later my smile was like a vandalised graveyard. I had an initial consultation with Dan and he explained that he had the skills and technology to straighten and whiten my teeth without the need of having train track braces fitted. I was apprehensive at first but was urged by my wife for the sake of family photos to proceed with the proposed treatment plan. I went for the Invisalign clear retainers which I changed on a regular basis as my teeth moved over a period of months and a course of whitening once completed. I now have straight clean white healthy teeth, I don’t mind smiling in pictures and am very happy with the end result. A friend had recommended Dan Cattell because I was at a point in life where my teeth were in decline and needed some serious attention. His dental nurse was equally solicitous. The operation took c 2 hours The level of craftsmanship I experienced with Dan was completely beyond anything I had encountered in my dental lifetime. Dan is now carrying out the elements of the treatment plan he devised. He is an utterly meticulous worker, with an exemplary eye for detail. He is completely spot on with anaesthetic (where required). Dan’s level of finishing is ultra refined - with the utmost attention to durability and quality. 'High Praise for Dan and the Team. Mine was a complex case. They certainly listened to me. There was a big question mark over which tooth was infected and causing all the pain, together with a more generalised form of agonising neuralgia, which confused the initial assessment, and with no evidence on the x-ray to identify a problem. Obviously, they didn’t want to remove a perfectly healthy tooth. But they took onboard my carefully monitored account of the pain experienced in a particular molar (formerly root-canalled by another dentist) and they went ahead with the extraction. Thankfully, it was the right tooth and its removal revealed a new site of infection not visible on the x-ray. The extraction procedure was excellently carried out. This practice certainly lives up to its name, as Dentist Becky and Head Dental Nurse Maya couldn’t have been more gentle, patient and sensitive throughout the entire procedure, keeping any discomfort to a minimum. They continued the same high level of care during my follow up appointments to check all was healing well. I am very grateful to them. And for Dan’s patience and attention to detail when considering my case. And to the exceptionally kind and accommodating care provided by Practice Manager Izzy, and Dental Nurses Katie and Ellie with their follow up calls while Izzy was on leave, to check on how my extraction wound was healing. I have been receiving treatment from Dr Cattell for this past year for the Invisalign teeth straightening program. Having never been happy with having crooked teeth I thought that the only way of improving my smile would be to have veneers fitted, but after an initial consultation with Dr Cattell it became apparent that my teeth were good and strong and that a series of Invisalign retainers would straighten my teeth without the need for veneers. I travel from the Cotswolds to this practice - want to know why? A few years ago, always having had an NHS Dentist, this 50 something year old needed root canal work , not having needed any treatment for decades and with regular 6 monthly check ups. My NHS dental surgery had allowed bleeding gums to escalate in spite of me asking why and what to do about it, and the dentist when he attempted to deal with my root canal treatment shouted at me, reducing me to shaking and tears. I have never ever experienced anything like it. My cousin recommended this practice. Dan and his team repaired the incomplete NHS work successfully with an excellent quality crown. I moved away from the area 18 months ago, but I return for my 6 monthly check up and hygienist treatment, because I know I will be treated courteously, be offered and given appropriate detailed advice and will not be pressured into unnecessary work. I am assured of the highest quality work from this award winning practice, patience, informed exactly what will happen before and during the treatment, and even during the most challenging and difficult experiences will have my well being and dignity respected at all times. The history of my front tooth is vast, both on the NHS and private, and always involved a lot of pain to the injection sites. Sadly once again I found my problem front tooth infected via a botched private root canal, and the NHS could offer no satisfactory treatment. So I saved and saved and decided enough was enough and it's time to pull it out and get an implant. I found Gental dentistry via my long internet search for the best reviews I could find, as I think pubic opinion matters. I really needed to find a dentist who could offer low to no pain from injections, which give me off the chart anxiety just thinking about having another one. I met Dan and his team and my options were investigated thoroughly and explained thoroughly, I felt completely in the loop. I have a habit of asking way to many questions, but all were answered and never did I feel uncomfortable or silly for asking. We've had quite nice chats in fact, and didn't feel pushed for time. I chose my option and a care plan was drawn up. I was assured that the injection would not be a problem at all and no pain would be inflicted......I didn't believe him for one minute as history spoke for itself..........I could not have been more wrong! Today I went for my tooth extraction in preparation for my future implant. I hadn't slept a wink, I had drank half a bottle of rescue remedy and had worked myself up into such a state I nearly passed out walking in the surgery. Completely unnecessary, Dan and his team made me feel at ease, from the minute the nicest receptionist you will ever meet greeted me. I was settled in by the wonderful dental nurse,Dan popped on the music and the numbing gel......I closed my eyes and squeezed tight on my hands and..... first injections both sides of the tooth no pain! Second and so on injections no pain! Not even a scratch! I simply could not believe it and truth be told still can't, I'm not even in pain now the numbing has worn off, simply incredible. I'm not going to be fazed one little bit from now on in my future treatment with Gental dentistry , and you can't imagine how that feels after years of pain and anxiety. I highly recommend Gental dentistry, so much so my daughter is now booked in!

Received excellent dental care from Danial Cattell for about 12 years. Initial work required extensive bridge work, capping and various fillings etc. All this has lasted well over the years and proved to be a good investment.
