R. J.Really great experience of treatment with Dr Lewis so far. I sought him out after being unhappy with my first round of braces at another practice and Craig spent a long time taking me through everything in my initial appointment to make sure I had all the right info and felt reassured that this time round I’d get the result that I wanted. Since treatment has begun, I’ve been really impressed with Craig’s approach , he talks you through everything he’s doing and makes you feel very at ease and comfortable asking any questions you might have. I would certainly recommend Dr Lewis and the lovely team at Birchgrove to anyone seeking treatment for braces themselves.
p.I am halfway through my braces treatment and so far I am 100% satisfied. The whole practice and the team is amazing; very helpful, very professional very responsive and very friendly.
I was going to have my treatment back in Poland, just because someone recommended me a very good orthodontist back there and I didn’t know anyone here in Cardiff. Due to the pandemic, the plans have changed and I started to look for specialists here. I contacted couple of places and I really recommend to everyone to do their own research. I knew more or less what I was looking for as I had my consultations back in Poland too.
Some of the places were pushing for Invisalign treatments only or they didn’t offer Damon braces, one doctor told me that I will need to have 4(!) teeth removed (which I knew wasn’t necessary).
When I contacted Dr Lewis, I was offered a free consultation via email. I was very impressed with his very comprehensive response. Also, the doctor proposed the same treatment as I was offered previously, which is Damon braces (hard to find in Cardiff). I didn’t hesitate a minute to choose this practice. What is also very important, the doctor listens to your needs, explains very carefully pros and cons of each treatment and find the best solution for you. I knew straight away that I’m in good hands.
The braces treatment is a big investment, but if you invest in your smile, do it right:)

L. 1.After spending years feeling conscious, down and embarrassed to arrange an appointment about my teeth, I finally plucked the courage up and visited a few dentists who all told me braces wouldn’t be able to close the gap I had in my teeth or my rotated teeth. I was recommended Birchgrove dental practice so I booked a consultation not feeling very confident but thought it was worth a go. I was told it is possible with braces!! Craig is professional, friendly, knowledgable and thorough. He talked me through everything step by step of what needs to be done/ what will happen to my teeth, showed me different options etc.. within the first consultation I felt so much happier and excited that I was finally getting the smile I wanted. The reception staff are so attentive and friendly and the refurbished waiting room is such a beautiful space. Marco has really shaken up the practice and even plays your favourite style of music to keep you calm through your appointment. He asked me for any concerns I had regarding my teeth, gums or smile and made sure he addressed these during the appointment. I had my first xray and Marco took the time to talk me through what they showed and compared them to photos he had taken so I could understand everything he was saying - no question of mine was too daft for him to answer! But, let's try the long story too!
The journey of my braces started with a very cute crooked smile, in another country. On a summer day, in 2018, while on vacation I have decided to have braces fixed over there. All nice and done, but coming back to the U.K. I've just realised that I should need a good orthodontist to continue with my "investment", because let me tell you, it is an investment in yourself first of all. One worth every penny.
So, I've started do some shopping around, booked some appointments with various dental practices that were very disappointing hence they wouldn't take on a patient with braces already in place, or some would, but in exchange of paying the full price. Not nice feeling of feeling being ripped off; human factor 0, and human factor in this journey it is very important due to the changes you're about to experience. Finally, I had my appointment with Birchgrove Dental Practice and everything fell into place from tge first hello. Everyone, from the welcoming receptionist to the professional hand holders nurses to Dr. Craig himself, were the answer to all my struggles up to that point. They were receptive to my kind requests, as in they took in consideration from a financial point of view, the fact that I already have had braces on, they've assumed the responsibility for some other orthodontist 's job, they've treated me with kindness and understanding for my impulsive action that I have taken abroad. They've made me feel special and the treatment I have received over the year's appointments was spotless.
Dr. Craig has been incredibly caring, has the best skills that any orthodontist would want and has an incredible sense of humour, which again, it is very important.
The job itself was a success, I now not smile, but laugh out loud with no embarrassing, awkward gestures. He explained every single procedure all through the treatment, respected all my requests for privacy, I am Muslim and pictures were out of discussion, again, important aspect.
I have ended up having more procedures done, wrinkle filling with extremely satisfying results. I have a picture perfect face due to his wonderful skills and professional advices.
Not to forget mentioning, Mickey! Mickey is a poster, up to the ceiling which is a very nice distraction and an amazing entertainer if you have a good, healthy, funny imagination.
All in all, money wise was the best deal I could've find in Cardiff, being able to pay the full price in instalments as well, my teeth look simply naturally amazing and I felt happy every single time I had to go over there.
Pain wise...well magic hands.
Otherwise...I would recommend this dental practice to anyone who is looking in feeling special and well looked after.

J. B.I’ve been with Craig and his team for around two years now. Previously I had quite a phobia of dentists because of a traumatic experience many years ago, I was so scared that I didn’t go to a dentist for about seven years!
I genuinely couldn’t rave about birchgrove dental any more if it was possible!
I’ve had Inman aligners (white braces) and the results are absolutely insane! Craig is clearly so skilled! As a 26 year old adult whose initially crooked teeth were quite firmly stuck in place, they moved to a pretty much perfect position in no time! When they were first put on I was expecting up to eighteen months but they were removed within twelve.
It sounds like a cheesy thing to say, but I’d spent so many years covering my mouth, worrying about which Facebook pictures people would tag me in after a night out and just generally hating anyone even looking at my mouth area, but Craig and his team really have helped to change my life!
I’m so much more confident, I smile for every single photo now - the more teeth the better! I don’t need to hide behind my hand or a folder when I’m speaking in meetings and I’m not conscious when I smile and laugh, which for a giggly person like me is a huge thing.
Today I had a wisdom tooth removed. Considering they’re meant to be tricky to get out compared to the other teeth, I was in and out within twenty minutes and this included the injections and the aftercare advice.
Craig is an absolute star and all his colleagues I’ve met along the way have been friendly and polite, you’ve probably guessed that I cannot think of a negative thing to say. Thanks for everything, guys! 😁

I just want to write and say what a hugely positive experience I had at Birchgrove Dental Practice today. I had an appointment with Marco Yang to enquire about teeth straightening and some other less than straightforward issues that I had with my teeth. These included an overbite, a broken tooth that had been badly repaired (elsewhere) and multiple old fillings that were not in a good state, partly due to age. (I’m 58)
As it was going to be a considered purchase, I really wanted to find the right person at a competitive price. I had been advised that in my case, I would need to find a qualified orthodontist and not JUST someone trained in “6 Month Smiles” or similar products. I was surprised and rather alarmed, how much that narrowed the list down !
I chose to see 2 other Dentists with seemingly all the right credentials, before I saw Marco and although I can’t name names, I was completely shocked and bewildered by my experiences
Both made very confident recommendations before any X-Rays or detailed photos being taken. The 1st dentist strongly advocated the use of (expensive ) crowns to cover things up rather than attempt to replace fillings that were possibly unstable. Makes sense until you are later made aware that there are other better options now available on the market which also happen to be less costly than crowns.
The 2nd Dentist (head of practice at a prominent dentists in my area), admitted they weren’t even a trained Orthodontist but had years of experience in teeth straightening for particular brand, and had ‘glowing testimonials’. They rudely laughed out loud at the 1st dentist’s recommendation of using crowns, stating they were unnecessary and ugly. They said they were certain my fillings could be replaced easily!!! (X-ray vision??)
Their vastly differing opinions on what treatment options would best suit me left me completely, cynical and untrusting of both!
So what was different about Marco at Birchgrove Dental ????
Marco (unaware of my recent experiences), listened carefully to all my concerns, and was very knowledgeable but never arrogant. He used several specially designed tools of the trade to take extremely detailed photos of my teeth from every angle which he shared with me (yikes!)
He also made clear the importance of X-Rays.YAY!
He did not turn into a pushy salesman, but explained extremely well all the pros and cons of the possible options I may end up with. I knew then that I did not have to go anywhere else to be further confused and discouraged. I had found the right Dentist at last!!!
