I visited Nicola Taaffe last week for a routine check up after not seeing a dentist for a number of years. I was very nervous about the appointment but Nicola and her team were so welcoming and lovely. I attended again today for a hygienist appointment with Roxy and I cannot speak highly of her enough, she explained the process to me in detail before we started and continued to explain bits throughout the appointment and gave me some really good advice. I initially picked this practice as they had the best google reviews, and I can now see why. Overall everyone I encountered was extremely friendly, informative and professional. I can highly recommend this practice.

It's always a pleasure seeing Nicola and Jane. Nicola has been my dentist for well over 20 years, and Jane has been keeping my smile clean and bright for over 10 years. When you find a good dentist, you don't change them! I started going here when I was living nearby, and also working nearby. Now I live in another part of the city, and work from home, but I would never consider changing my dentist. Both Nicola and Jane are really good - I've had good experiences on the rare occasions I've needed work doing (largely wisdom teeth) and thankfully due to amongst other things regular visits to the hygienist, not needed anything serious doing.

Nicola and all of her staff are fantastic. The reception team are helpful, kind and cheerful, meaning nervous patients are instantly put at ease on entering the practice. Nicola completed my dental examination professionally and quickly, reassuring me and coming up with a clear plan for improving my dental health. Emily the hygienist did a fantastic job, easing the nerves and actually making the visit enjoyable. Roxy was brilliant with my fillings, letting me know what was happening at every step, and completing the procedure totally painlessly. I won't hesitate to come back, and highly recommend to any anxious patients.

As someone who has been terrified by dentists since childhood I needed to review my experience. Everyone at the surgery is brilliant. They are all so polite, professional and do wonders to make sure you are comfortable and they eliminate and fear or anxiety you may have. This was a major anxiety for me and the whole surgery go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and stress free. I was worried and embarrassed but there was no shaming or “telling off” as I understand some friends get from their dentist. Nicola is brilliant at what she does and Emily the hygienist is genuinely lovely and professional. Everyone is warm and seems to know your name which is a nice touch for a busy surgery. For a self confessed scaredy cat like me there's nothing worse than a visit to the dentist, but, Nicola and her team are amazing. I've been going there for many years and everyone seems to know me and are really friendly. The receptionist don't keep me hanging around and I'm never left to sit and stew for too long before I get seen. Jayne the hygienist is brill, I know I'm a big baby but she treats me with total respect and does a great job at cleaning my teeth. Nicola herself is amazing, she always seems genuinely pleased to see me and allows me a nervous chat before she looks at my teeth. When she does look she's quick and never does anything unexpected. If any work is needed we always discuss it first and she's happy to sedate me ( I told you I was a baby). I honestly can't fault them, if you're in need of a dentist you can't get better.

As a very nervous patient at the dentist we decided to register with Mrs Taaffe's practise as they advertise as suitable for nervous patients. We have not been disappointed. The practice is calm and well run and Mrs Taaffe has a gentle manner that quickly puts you at your ease. Jamie the oral hygienist is the same. It won't stop my anxiety before I get to the dentist but it is easier to cope with at the appointment .

Best dentist in Cardiff. Nicola has been looking after my gnashers for a good few years, and I have nothing but praise for the high standards of care and professionalism of both herself, and her staff at the practcice. I just wish she would stop making me laugh when I have a mouthful of dentist instruments! Only one (slight} negative - the six monthly personal medical update we are required to complete - can't do it online. Apparently, not just me, but other patients as well. Suggest the practice has a word with their IT bods to get this sorted. Otherwise, very happy indeed.

Recently I had to have a tooth out and attend a hygienist appointment a few weeks after. I used to go to Nicola Taaffe surgery as they offered sedation and deal well with nervous patients. Due to health reasons sedation is no longer an option for me. Thankfully over the years I have built up a lot of trust with them and successfully had my tooth extracted without the need for sedation and didn’t have to have numbing cream with the hygienist. This is all down to Nicola and her team dealing with me in such a gentle way and building up my confidence. I would wholeheartedly recommend this practice to everyone! The whole team at Nicola Taaffe are brilliant, professional, and welcoming. COVID procedures are followed and I felt very safe. I had to have one of my wisdom tooth removed yesterday and I was so scared, but Dr Omovie and his wonderful assistant (whose name I'm unsure of, sorry!) helped to put me at ease, making light conversation with me and even comforting me when I cried because I was anxious (I hate injections!). I felt so safe and cared for. I have also had good experiences with Nicola herself, the hygienist team, and the reception staff. As someone who is a nervous patient and also self conscious of their teeth, I feel grateful when things are explained to me as they are but I am not made to feel guilty or ashamed as this has happened in previous dentists, but not at West Grove. Overall, a great practice, thanks so much!

I’ve had a horrendous fear of the dentist all my life As soon as I stepped foot through the doors I was made to feel very welcome. I was not made to feel silly or belittled which I was so worried about. Nicola took two teeth out with sedation for me and I didn’t feel a thing I’ve recently had another two out and even managed it without sedation. I’m currently seeing the hygienist who is equally as compassionate and has taken great time in explaining everything to me and very much took my phobia into consideration. The dental assistants are marvellous and bravely let me hold there hand. The receptionists are friendly and very kind. I’m not over my fear but I want my teeth looked after now and this is definitely the place I would recommend. Totally amazing. Nicola is brilliant. I was petrified of the dentist, but Nicola was so calm, talked me through everything. Stopped when I asked her too as I suffer with chronic pain and Fibromyalgia, and Nicola let me move around. The whole team are so nice and do everything they can to help and make my visit as comfortable as possible. I had been having problems for almost a year and had visited 3 other dentists without actually going through with anything Right from the first phone call to Cath and having to borrow her glasses to fill the forms in on my first visit! through to all the amazing work Nicola so patiently and professionally performed with the help of her colleagues (sorry I can’t remember you all but you know who you are) the whole experience was unbelievably stress and pain free. I feel like I have won the lottery! I even received a follow up call the following day to check all was ok. I can honestly say the attitude of Nicola and all the staff going the extra mile was the difference If I ever have the chance to recommend you I will in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Perry Lloyd

Our nearly 11 year old needed four extractions in advance of his brace being fitted next April. We visited Nicola Taaffe on West Grove this morning and were seen by Ben. Our lad was understandably anxious but Ben went above and beyond to calm him and assure him that, although he was the patient he was in charge of things. Our boy was tearful but confident in Ben’s care to allow all four extractions in one visit, negating the need for a further appointment. I’m immensely proud of our son. Within a few short hours he’s pretty much recovered (calpol assisted) and enjoying extra cwtches with mum & dad. Huge thanks to Ben and his assistant (I didn’t catch her name) but both are a credit to their profession.
