As a nervous patient, it is a huge thing for me to find a dental practice that I can be confident and comfortable with. Having been with a previous dentist for 25 years (and he retired! 😢) I had tried a big modern practice before the pandemic but it wasn’t for me. I wanted to find that ‘family feel’ type practice (that I had been in for 25 years) that also was modern and up to date with treatments (and offered sedation). I had been recommended the ice dental spa by another patient but also I had read the reviews. Today I had my new patient consultation. As a nervous patient I can honestly say I felt at ease from the moment I checked in. Everyone.. and I mean everyone, from the practice manager, both dentists and the dental nurse were kind, understanding, thorough, professional alongside completely non judgemental at my nerves. Everything was explained thoroughly and nothing was rushed. Whilst I haven’t had the treatments yet (I will review those once I’ve had them. Which will include implants) this is the first practice I have found that feels as good as the one I was with for all those years. From what I’ve experienced so far, I highly recommend.

I went to see Jim for a second opinion after my dentist told me I needed over £2k of treatment. Jim placed a composite filling and charged me a fraction of this! I then joined their plan so I spread the cost of my regular care and get discount off my treatment when needed. I trust Jim and the team implicitly to care for my dental health in an appropriate way. And they are great fun too!

Fantastic is the word I would use to describe everyone at Ice Dental Spa. These amazing people have shown me, that a visit to see the dentist ( James ) & a visit to see the Hygienist (Lucy) isn't a frightening experience, but a positive experience. I went into both appointments feeling tearful, but I came out from both appointments with a huge smile on my face. ☺ I would recommend Ice Dental Spa to everyone, as they care about all their patients.

Further update- a couple of months after my "8 years after" post my course of treatment is finished. I have two new teeth that fit beautifully and work very well. I recommend implants as being far better than any other solution to missing teeth. One further comment - my moan below about the cheap tranny radio no longer stands. On the appointment after that review, the radio had moved to a more sensible position and we are now back to the original sound source and a station more likely to sooth old codgers like me. I am grateful - thank you. While Jim Anderson is my dentist, I will keep going back. 8 years after posting this review, I am back to edit it. I am still delighted with Jim Anderson's dental care. He recently moved heaven and earth to sort out an embarrassing tooth problem for me before I went to a reunion. Service above and beyond the reasonable both in getting it done in time but also in being able to do the work. Another dentist failed to do a similar job just before my original arrival here. Jim is ably supported by nursing and reception staff some of whom I recognise from my original visit. They know their stuff but more importantly, they do it in a friendly, human manner. I have not seen the second dentist Diana personally but my daughter tells me that she is very understanding and good with nervous patients. I am less keen about the merger with Chancery Dental. It has resulted in excessive appointment reminders all demanding that I fill in electronic forms that when I get to them are generally already complete. The gentle music of Radio2 has also been replaced by a cheap tranny blasting out a commercial noise station from just behind one chair in the waiting room . I hope these are a work in progress that will soon rise to the incredibly high level of the rest of the service provided Back to the original review from 8 years ago:- "Loved it" seems a little inappropriate for a dentist but Ice Dental Spa deserve a lot of stars. All the team are very friendly, welcoming and keen to help. My first visit was just over a year ago having been with an NHS dentist up till then and the difference was chalk and cheese. It is a little more expensive but the standard of care is far superior. My teeth are in a far better state now than they were 18 months ago - I have 4 more teeth now than before for instance - implants - which were actually cheaper at ICE Dental Spa than they would have been if my NHS dentist had done them - and having visited, I was far more confident that Jim Anderson would do a good job of them than the other dentists I contacted. The practice is fresh, modern and clean and best of all, they make the time to treat you as a human being - not just yet another patient. Long may they continue to maintain this standard.

I have had intensive work done over the last 9 months from bone implants, implants to crowns ...... I have to say the care and skill that I received during every visit and also after care when I needed extra help was amazing. Jim even opened the surgery on a weekend , just for me. If your a nervous patient the whole staff fully support you . I now can eat without thinking and smile without being embarrassed. I could not be happier and highly recommend. Also, be assured Jim only does what is necessary so as to keep cost down. Hes completely ethical and Tammy and Kerry are a delight and really travel the journey with you each step of the way. The team at Ice Dental Spa in Duston, Northampton have worked with me displaying understanding and patience beyond anything I could ever imagine which has enabled me to achieve treatment which I never thought I would ever be able to do. 4 implants and crown fitted! I cannot fault the service I received. James was very attentive, professional and easy to communicate with. One of the four implants failed but I was offered a repeat procedure at no extra cost. The second time was successful. I would have no hesitation in recommending James.

I went to this dental practise today for the 1st time , I made them aware beforehand that I'm a extremely nervous patient where teeth are concerned , from the moment I arrived everybody was amazing , from receptionists , other staff , dental nurses an the dentist herself Dianne .. the most caring , kind an patient dentist I have ever been to , so gentle , made me feel as relaxed as I possibly could , explained everything and checked I was ok throughout the hour I was there , cannot recommend enough , was very emotional at the end from relief an of just how lovely they all were XX thanku so so much X

I've always been a Dentist-phobe but since joining Ice Dental I no longer worry about fillings, root canals etc etc.....however my final hurdle (and the thing I have always dreaded the most) was an extraction. Yesterday I had a cracked root extracted with sedation...didn't feel a thing or know what was being done - I just laid back, stuck my headphones on and relaxed!!! I felt absolutely fine straight afterwards and today am back at work with no need to even take a painkiller. I cannot recommend Jim and his whole team more and just wished I hadn't spent so many years worrying about going to the dentist and found them sooner.......thank you everyone!

Hannah the hygienist is absolutely brilliant, my oral hygiene has been transformed since coming to this dental surgery and I have had many hygienists in the past and no one beats Hannah, she is a perfectionist, is extremely thorough, takes her time and is careful. I wont go anywhere else!

I needed dental work from a previous rugby injury, when I went to see the Team at Ice Dental they gave me the confidence and understanding that the implant procedure would be the best option. Customer care was amazing and the staff lovely which put me at ease throughout. I was reassured throughout the procedure and given step by step communication which put me at ease and enabled me to relax. I have had terrible experiences at other dental practices but Jim and the team have completely changed my view. Any questions I have had before or after the procedure were answered in detail and any queries I had sorted with a call back or visit. What a wonderful friendly dentist. James and his team are absolutely 1st class. I have been a phobic for many years and how the team at ice dental spa have turned that round is incredible I even found myself bopping along to the radio whilst having a full crown built in my mouth. I have always hated going to the dentist and particularly if I required any form of injection. I went to see Jim for the first time for a filling and to say I was apprehensive is a understatement. On arrival I was greeted and advised Jim wouldn't be long. The practice is such a lovely environment which instantly made me feel a little more relaxed. When I was taken through every part of my treatment was explained to me in detail and my images shown to me on the screen. Next was the bit I had been dreading however Jim and I were talking and before I knew it he said he had done the injection and we just had to wait for it to take effect. It truly was amazing as I didn't feel a thing. For me there is no better Dentist and I recommend him to everyone. When my previous dentist retired 5 Years ago I struggled to find a suitable new Dentist. Even though I and my wife travel 34 mile to see James it is worth it. James and his team are every professional and deliver an excellent service. His attention to detail gives great assurance and confidence in his work.
