From my first interaction with Peter over email he acted efficiently and made sure he covered all aspects of what the initial appointment would entail in the ‘one stop’ clinic. During our initial appointment I felt that I was listened to and my symptoms were taken seriously. It was decided that excision surgery was the best option for me and the clinic were able to schedule me in quickly due to work commitments abroad - this was much appreciated. After my procedure, Peter took the time to talk to me through my surgery and his findings - my lab reports arrived speedily too! It has only been 3 weeks since my excision but I already feel like a different person. I can’t thank the Endometriosis Clinic enough for their expertise and the validation they have provided me.

I’ve had my surgery done in January 2021 with Dr. Barton-Smith. The level of precise diagnosis and care was exceptional. I will strongly recommend him and his team.

Its been almost 3 months since my excision surgery by Peter Barton-Smith and I have never felt better! From consultation to surgery, I felt listened to, my options clearly explained & my questions answered. I was nervous about being in hospital alone during the pandemic but I was looked after very well by the fabulous staff who have been available for my after care queries too.
I would highly recommend Peter if you have (or suspect you have) endometriosis. He is an expert in complex surgery and you want an expert dealing with this disease- trust me!

I traveled from Ireland to London and underwent surgery with Mr Peter Barton-Smith at the Princess Grace Hospital. I had severe endometriosis & adenomyosis and proceeded with a total hysterectomy + bilateral salpingo-ophorectomy. Peter is efficient, professional, compassionate and highly skilled. Staff at the hospital were lovely+ I received excellent care.
I'm over 6 months post op and my severe pain has resolved. Surgery has been life changing and I would highly recommend Mr Barton Smith. I am very grateful to have found him!

I went to the endometriosis clinic from Ireland because several women from the endo association here recommended Dr. Peter Barton Smith's care so highly. The operation I had in July of 2020 has completely changed my life. Beforehand I would bleed constantly even on pill, and had such intense pain that I would be bed bound for days on end. That life feels like something of the past to me now, six months on. The care I received in the clinic and after my operation in the Princess Grace hospital was phenomenal. The staff were fantastic and very helpful and caring. I have a far better understanding of my condition now, and really feel like a new person. I highly recommend making an appointment to speak to Dr. Barton Smith if you are in a similar situation to where I was. I cant thank him enough for being the first doctor to ever recognise, believe and understand my pain and other symptoms, and for completely changing my ability to function like a normal person!!

I had excision surgery in November and it's been absolutely life-changing, I used to have debilitating periods and daily pelvic pain, all of which is now gone.
I came here for a second opinion after being told by another doctor that I wasn't a good candidate for surgery, and I'm so glad I did! Everyone at The Endometriosis Clinic was so kind and compassionate, and really put me at ease. Peter Barton-Smith is an amazing doctor, he really listened to me where other doctors had dismissed me in the past. He explained everything very clearly in a way I could understand and took the time to answer all my questions. I would 100% recommend his clinic to anyone with Endometriosis.

I highly recommend Peter Barton-Smith. He is incredibly professional and pays attention to every detail. He is also kind, caring and supportive and responds promptly to any questions you may have both before and after surgery. I had complete confidence in Peter and his team from the outset and cannot fault the care I received at the Princess Grace Hospital. My procedure has been life changing. Thank you Peter.

After 7 years of severe pain, misdiagnoses, endless pain medications, hormonal treatments and surgeries I finally came across the endometriosis clinics in Harley Street.
This was my final hope with finding any level of relief from my illness and after a very in-depth consultation with Dr Barton-Smith we decided to go ahead with excision surgery the following month.
9 months later I honestly feel like a new women.
I no longer have to schedule my life around my illness and to say the least, I feel NORMAL for the first time in a long time! I’ve had my pain dramatically decreased from a average of 20 days of severe pain a month to two days or less.
Going to see Dr Barton-Smith was the best investment I’ve ever made and I can’t thank the clinic enough for giving me my life back.
I am truly very grateful.

I have had endometriosis for years. I found a very good doctor in South Africa who helped me immensely. On moving to the UK, I knew that I needed to find the best endometriosis gynaecologist, who really understood this awful disease.
I made an appointment with Mr Barton-Smith. What an amazing man! When I went for the initial consultation I wasn't experiencing any major pain. As part of the consultation, I first had an ultrasound. The radiologist was fantastic and immediately picked up some problem areas from the scan. From there I saw Mr Barton-Smith. I have never had a gynaecologist give me so much time. He took a full history, asked lots of questions and listened. He then talked through the scan and discussed all options available with my husband and I.
I had excision surgery and Mr Barton-Smith is a wizard with robotic surgery! The aneathestist was great as were all the doctors involved and the care I received at The Princess Grace Hospital was fantastic. The day after surgery Mr Barton-Smith smith explained everything, with a use of a video he took of the surgery. It really helped my husband and I to understand.
The following week we had a follow up appointment. Mr Barton-Smith was so kind and truly empathetic. I will never be able to thank him for everything he has done for me. His excision skills are exceptional and added to that he is a kind, caring man.
I highly recommend Mr Barton-Smith. The fact that he only focuses on gynaecological problems, not obstetrics as well, ensures a razor sharp knowledge and expertise that few other doctors have.
If you have endometriosis, or even think you may have this awful disease, I encourage you to make an appointment with Mr Barton-Smith. He will help you and change your life for the better! He is exceptional!

After many years of unsuccessful diagnoses and surgeries I eventually got the skills, care and answers I needed when I attended the Endometrioses Clinic under the care of Dr. Peter Barton-Smith. The expertise, communication, attention and professionalism is there from the moment you make your first appointment to every other aspect of consultation and care that is needed. I felt fully informed, included and accommodated at every part of the journey from the simplest to the most complex questions. No question or option was hard to discuss as Dr. Barton-Smith is an expert as well as an outstanding communicator and down to earth consultant surgeon. Even though I had some difficult decisions to consider Dr. Barton-Smith explained everything and I always felt like I understood and had choices in my own care and journey. No question or decision was too awkward or impossible when you realize you are in safe and skilled hands and with someone who listens to what you hope for in your journey. The kindness and expertise that you get at the endometrioses clinic is what every person needs when they are already struggling or facing decisions about their health and options. If you are considering booking an appointment all I can say is look no further and I recommend that you do this. I live in another country and for all the money and time I have spent trying to get care I wish that I had done the research and taken the decision to go to the UK earlier at the to this clinic. I would also like to say that I am a single woman who had many practical considerations in order to make this journey for care and surgery so if I can do it then I think that others can too. Before I travelled I contacted Dr. Barton-Smith and was able to have all my questions and concerns answered and there is always the option for online or email feedback. Sometimes on the journey unexpected challenges come up and in my case it was an emergency surgery, even though I was concerned about what the results would be and travelling alone without knowing what might happen, I knew and trusted I was with someone who could tell me all the possibilities, options and risks as well as what he I needed to do for follow up on returning home. I can 100% recommend this clinic and can't thank Dr. Barton-Smith enough. Thank you.

I am from Belgium and had excision surgery with dr. Peter Barton-Smith in February 2020. I had painful periods since my teenage years, and already informed in 2010 with a professor gynaecologist in Belgium if my symptoms could be caused by endometriosis. I was told this was not likely, and that the pain would decrease with the anticonception pill. If the pain would indeed decrease, I had nothing to worry about (incorrect advice). End of 2018 I was diagnosed with endometriosis during a laparoscopic appendectomy. From mid 2018 the pains got progressively worse to extremely severe, being debilitating and breathttaking during ovulation and menstruation, and during random moments in the month.
I first was planning to have surgery in Belgium, but the consults I had with surgeons made me question their expertise. I was, for example, told a 3 monthly treatment with GnRH analogues was necessary before surgery to "dry out" the endometriosis tissue as that would make the removal of endometriosis easier. Due to the severe and possibly permanent side effects I was not prepared to undergo this treatment. The ESHRE guideline also states there is not proved benefit to pre-operative GnRH treatment. Reading experiences from international renowned endometriosis surgeons, I found out that they don't recommend pre-operative GnRH treatment at all, on the contrary. Next to severe side effects, it can also make endometriosis less visible, and easier to miss during surgery.
I looked for higher expertise, and scheduled a consult with Peter. He really took the time to explain everything, inform about the different options, risks, surgical procedure,...and was very professional and warm. Peter also didn't see the need for GnRH treatment pre-operatively at all. After the elaborate consult Peter also answered additional questions by e-mail, which was very much appreciated. Feeling I had full trust in Peter and his team, the robot-assisted excision of deep infiltrating endometriosis and an endometrioma, was scheduled.
In the Princess Grace Hospital, we were surrounded with so much warm and professional yet personal care, day and night. All the staff, Azita, Peter, the nurses, Girish Dhond, the anaesthetist, were fantastic and kind, and made the whole experience as "pleasant" and "relaxed" as possible. So thank you very much again!:) I had endometriosis with nerve involvement, and, due to risks of complications through nerve damage, I would only trust an excellent surgeon as Peter, with extensive experience and training in nerve sparing and complex endometriosis surgery, to operate. Peter was before, during and after surgery terrific. He took the time to answer questions and explain, guide us through the video of the surgery, is truly empathetic and sincerely cares about his patients.
During surgery there was also endometriosis seen on my diaphragm, and this was not removed yet as this wasn't expected and there was not a liver surgeon present at the time. In general I only regret that I didn't make the connection between some of my symptoms (head, neck, ear, teeth pain) and possible diaphragm endometriosis myself (referred pain through the phrenic nerve), and that I was not more specifically asked about these less typical symptoms by any doctor (also in Belgium) before surgery, as then the diaphragm endometriosis could have been removed during the same surgery. It would maybe be good for patients to have a full list of possible typical and less typical symptoms to fill in before surgery.
My pelvic pains and inflammation related pains have greatly improved since my surgery. My ovulation pelvic pains have disappeared, and the menstruation pains have greatly decreased and are "at another level". I can always still contact Peter when I have questions. I want to very warmly thank Peter and all of the staff for the amazing care and the devotion to helping women with endometriosis. I would recommend dr. Peter Barton-Smith to anyone. In a world where good endometriosis care is still hard to find, Peter's work and sincerity is essential.

I underwent excision surgery with Dr. Peter Barton Smith a little over 9 months ago now in the Princess Grace Hospital in London. As an Irish woman I was severely let down by our health system time and time and time again until I had no choice but to leave my own country to seek help elsewhere and that's when I found Peter through an acquaintance of mine who had previously also had excision surgery with him a few months prior. I have suffered immensely for over 20 years with endometriosis which affected every aspect of both my physical and mental health and scuppered my life to the point I wasn't living I was just existing on countless meds daily. I have had numerous ablation surgeries with gynaecologists here in Ireland each time being told 'it's gone' or 'it's all in my head' or 'we all get period pain' until I was told I had 3 options - to have a baby, to go into early menopause as a form of pain relief or to have a full hysterectomy. I was so close to going for the hysterectomy until I found Peter a little over a year ago. I emailed him and he was so efficient and so understanding that I finally felt like someone understood my pain and more comforting someone actually believed me and believed my pain. I scheduled my consult with him for early May last year where he diagnosed stage 4 endo and also found adenomyosis which had been missed countless times by our own specialists here in Ireland.
We scheduled my excision surgery for 5th August and I haven't looked back since. I have a completely new lease of life, I'm pain free 97% of the time - apart from the odd monthly pain but it isn't one bit debilitating and I don't need to take time off work or miss plans or miss out on life to spend days on the couch paralysed with pain. I am forever indebted to this wonderful man and even his aftercare is second to none he is always on email and on the other end of the phone, even now. His beside manner is impecible - he sat with both my and my mother and talked us through the surgery before and also afterwards when he came in with my surgery on a usb key that I watch every now and again to remind myself how far I've come.
I will most likely need a hysterectomy in a few years time depending on the adeno (but so far so good thank god) but there is noone else I would go to or trust to perform this surgery if needed. The care i received was like nothing I've ever experienced in all my years of hospital stays here in Ireland. I only pray that in time he can open an endo clinic in Ireland aswell because god knows it is badly needed.
I cannot recommend Peter enough and also the work that he has put into the endo clinic is amazing - I've met so many wonderful endo sisters through the clinic and the website and various forums it's nice to know we're not alone and that there is someone out there who can help it gives us hope and more importantly, gives us our lives back.
Thank you so much Peter, I've never felt better and I feel like a new woman.

I was never taken seriously before I decided to go to the endometriosis clinic. I was finally told that my pain is real and I underwent excision surgery. The surgery has completely changed my life. I went from having pain every single day to the point where I would be unable to move and painkillers had no effect, to being able to exercise on my period and live a pain free life. I recommend this clinic so highly and speak truthfully when I say it has changed my life for the better.

I had surgery with Peter Barton-Smith for stage 4 endometriosis. I’m so pleased that I found him- he is a brilliant surgeon and I highly recommend him to anyone. He is very professional. I had a lot of confidence in him right from the start.
During the consultation I felt that I had time to explain everything in detail and didn’t feel rushed at all. Mr Barton-Smith took the time to listen to me and explained everything in a lot of detail and in a way that was easy to understand. His friendly manner also really helped me to feel at ease.
I decided to go ahead with the surgery. The day after my surgery, Peter came to check in on me and explained how the operation went. He took the time to show me video footage of my surgery (obviously not the whole thing as it was 6hours long!) He did such a thorough job and it was such a relief knowing that the endometriosis had been removed properly. It was so interesting to see the footage. He even took the time to show my dad and husband the video as well and also explain to them in detail so that they also had a better understanding. Peter uses robotic surgery, which is the gold standard of endo removal. This was another reason why I chose to go with Peter. I’d had a few failed operations at other hospitals that don’t use this technique, and as my case was more complicated, I felt that this was the best way forward. Honestly it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Peter’s aftercare was fantastic. He was there to answer any questions or concerns that I had after the surgery. He was just a phone call away... and still is. It’s so reassuring to have that, and its lovely as you can tell that Peter genuinely cares about his patients.
Having the surgery with him has changed my life for the better and I am no longer in pain. I will always be grateful to him. Thank you Peter!

I first met Peter in June 2016. I had been having issues with my NHS consultant and decided that the time had come for me to go private again. I have had a long & complicated journey with endometriosis and seeing Peter was my “last chance saloon”.
During my scan with Dr Jurkovic it was established that I had a small patch of deep endometriosis but Peter was reluctant to operate on such a small amount. He then looked at photographs from a previous laparoscopy and I believe these are what swayed him. My pelvis was a mess of scar tissue and it looked hideous.
Therefore surgery was scheduled for September 6, 2016 and it changed my life.
Peter excised a huge piece of deep endometriosis (approximately 6cm in diameter, as supposed to the 6mm piece that he was expecting to excise). He cleaned my pelvis up and then we both crossed our fingers.
The first time I emptied my bladder post-op, I cried because there was no pain.
I’m coming up to my 4th anniversary of surgery with Peter and I love my life. I am drug-free, I have no pain & I am living life to the full. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 1994, aged 24. I am now 50 and life is going from strength to strength. I am going on 2 hour cycle rides, I am driving and I am waking up every morning with a smile on my face.
Peter listened to me. He took my pain seriously and he gave me back my dignity. The care that I received at The Princess Grace was exemplary and Peter still checks in with me from time to time, just to see how I am.
I can’t thank Peter enough for being there when everyone else had given up on me and I just wish I had found him sooner.

The best doctor I have met who treats endometriosis. The clinic is nice and you feel welcome and well cared for. I strongly recommend women with endometrios to go there.
