Mayhew are excellent! Smaller than Battersea but I'd say better organised and much more together. I adopted my cat from Mayhew and was impressed by the care they took to make sure the adoption would be successful. My thanks to Mathew who was pleasant, helpful and efficient overseeing my adoption of Bruce the cat. My respect to all at the centre and the way it all works.

Wonderful shelter. Years ago we used to volunteer to walk their dogs and eventually adopted a really lovely cat from them. They carried out checks before allowing us to adopt and were great in terms of trying to ensure the best match for both our cat and us as a family.

im real glad there are compassionate people that work at mayhew, i always got a response from them when i needed their assistance, because of them 2 cats that turned up at my workplace lives changed for the better, the first cat got trapped and was adopted, instead of trying to fend for itself in the winter cold fighting foxes for food its probably in its owners lap and in a nice warm house. the second cat that i found was somehow lost miles away from where it lives, probably got onto back of lorry,truck and found itself in no mans land, thankfully it was microchipped and they contacted owner, that their beloved cats been found. im very greatful to all the team that work at mayhew for their help and kindness.

Adopted from here and had a wonderful experience. Had help from the start to find the dog I wanted. Had support and guidance when deciding and have my little dog home with me now. I cannot recommend them enough. My little dog was in foster care and the foster carers gave me lots off information when I went to visit. I could not be any happier with how everything went adopting from here. A home visit was carried out before my dog was brought him and I had plenty of time to ask questions also. I am a confident small dog owner but have never adopted before but all the information that the Mayhew could provide was provided. How she was medically and how she seemed to react to situations. She loves children and big dogs. She is a little chihuahua. She loves kids and likes to go over to them when we are off lead at the park. Finding out how she would react to daily living had to be found out by daily living when she got home. As my little dog is older than a puppy we have to attend dog training and are in the process of doing this. Although I have owned dogs thks is important for us as she is over one and a half. This will help both of us. The Mayhew staff have been helpful and supportive. They provide a wonderful home for rescues ensuring that they stay there until medically fit and then ensure that the right fit is found for people who want to adopt. They have both cats and dogs here and signing up to their website beforehand makes finding the information you need so much easier. It also gives you an opportunity to see the dogs and cats.

Thank you Tania, and the Mayhew Team. My dog, Oi, has recently spent some time in the Mayhew due to my health issues. Before he went in I had a few minor breakdowns worrying about his care whilst I would be in hospital. Tania has been great understanding my frantic phone calls. They do everything you could wish for and MORE !!! If you have any pet quires, I really recommend that you get in touch with them. I had to edit my review...My dog Oi was recently put to sleep due to Cushing's Disease, and I'd like to thank A.J for picking him up and for all the care and patience she showed me, and to Tania for bringing him back home to me.

We got a cat about 5 months ago called Boycie from the Mayhew. I was amazed by the time and effort that the Mayhew took to look after him. A man named Matthew helped us and they were all so helpful. Sadly, my dad turned out to be allergic to him. We had to give him away but we really miss him. Just a quick question to the Mayhew. How old do I have to be to do work experience at the Mayhew. I know I can't do it now but I would love to do it in the future.

It was very pleasant. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They were very good showing the area where the cat's were. It's a very clean place!! Our group it was people with learning and physical disabilities/mental health problems. Unfortunately this time they could see the dog's but they came to the centre very satisfied and looking forward to go back. Really a place to go and see, the animals are treated with a lot of care, love and dignity.

We've adopted 3 kittens from Mayhew (one pair of sisters and one lone kitty) and on both occasions the adoption process was very smooth. The facilities for the animals at Mayhew are bright and spacious, and Matthew the cat adoption officer is a delight! They can get quite busy for adoptions on Saturdays and after holidays (e.g. when they reopen in January after Christmas) so bear that in mind when visiting. Are my cats very annoying and quite expensive? Yes! Do I love them and can't imaging life without them? Also yes :)

I contacted the mayhew center to report a stray cat that was in a poor state. It was a Saturday afternoon at 4.30, they closed at 5 but still came to pick him up. They arrived within half an hour, listened carefully to all the information I was able to give before they took him to the rescue centre. I called for updates and someone always called back if it was the answer phone, I didn't ever feel like it was a hassle for them even though he wasn't my cat. He was well cared for whilst he was at the centre.

Great group of people. I recently called them to help me with a very old stray cat I was feeding. They came out and we tried to find the little one. Sadly he wasn't about. I caught him later and dropped him off at the hospital. They are doing full senior bloods and full examination. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Sadly due to Covid 19 no visitors but staff are keeping me up dated on the little chaps care.

Very nice park. 3 separate playgrounds for all ages. Tennis courts, football pitch, basketball, garden centre. Light refreshments available from a van. Dog free/picnic spaces also there. Tennis courts- book online. Basketball and football pitch, always busy. But overall, a great park. Saturday mornings there is a new farmers market selling very good foods.

Mayhew is absolutely amazing. They have lots of cats if you visit them and all cats are so cute. All you need to do if you want a cat is go on the website, decide which cat you want and call them. After that, they will book an appointment for you and tell you the day and time you are going. When the day arrives, you go there and they will give you a form to fill out. Once filled, you will need a piece of evidence to show who you are (driving license, photo ID etc) then take a short, informal interview. After that, they will take you to the cat you are looking for and you will get to pet it and learn about it. During this, they will explain the fee and what it takes to own a cat. If you agree to own this cat, they will reserve it for you.Once your time is up, you say farewell to the cat and pay the £75 at the reception. After that, they will call you two days after about the home visit. Once the home visit is done, you will take your furry friend home. I am sure you will leave there with a smile. And in case you wanted to know, I have reserved Ninja.

TNR was done so well!! I still have the stray feral cat living in his cosy hut at the bottom of my garden. Mayhew update their webstie regularly which is great and also send email notifications when there is a new pet available. I have not adopted a pet myself but I am always on the look out for animals that need new loving homes and like to share the knowledge to people who may be eligible.

Have loved fostering kits for the Mayhew. They care about each one and work so hard to support so many animals towards a loving forever home. It must be an incredibly hard job sometimes - animals are at the centre of everything they do.

I have never adopted from the mayhew but I have had three kittens spayed. The staff were so lovely and friendly, and instead of it feeling like a routine job it actually felt like they treated each kitten like a living thing, which was lovely. I know they were in safe hands, and my beautiful girls have all come out perfectly fine, apart from the moping around when they wore their buster collars. They have healed and I thank the mayhew for being so great, to the receptionists and the vets themselves.

Every aspect of my experience over the past three and half years has been first class. From the reception staff, vetinary nurses and all the vets. They are super professional and happy to provide information. I wouldn't take my girl anywhere else for her vaccinations. She was also neutered there. It gives me great satisfaction that the money gets ploughed back into animal welfare. They are also doing superb work in education and rescue overseas. We are very fortunate to have the Mayhew in our area.

Made an appointment with a view to potentially adopt a cat, but as a first-time time owner had some apprehensions. Matt, the adoption officer, was superb. As someone new to owning an animal I never felt patronised in any way and had all my concerns / questions answered. It truly felt like they were keen on matching us up with the right cat based on our situation and personality and it showed when the first one we were introduced to ending up coming home with us a week later. The cattery itself looked well maintained and my time in there never felt rushed as I was introduced to several cats all looking for new homes. Highly recommend and having now spent a few months with the new member of our family I suspect I'll be back to rescue again.

( cant remember her name) and she said to come just after two, which I did, she remember me from ring that morning, she made it feel so lovely with her words and pleasant manner. just want to say a big thank you. It was hard leave Garfield there.

Death Row This charity does great work however, they have been to quick to decide to put to sleep a beautiful collie called Benjie. Benjie's owner sadly died, and had entrusted Benjie to the Mayhews care. Confused and scared Benjie was involved in a fight with another dog at the Mayhew. They now say he needs to be put to sleep. There is huge support and a legal challenge to allow Benjie to be transferred to a specialist border collie rescue called Border Collie Spot, who understand the breed and will work with him. Come on Mayhew, please allow Benji to live and thrive with Border Collie Spot.

I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. I visited many animal homes before finding our two kittens to adopt, and many of them had a stressful and lengthy process to adopting an animal. Luckily, we found Mayhew just in time (as I was ready to give up on finding the right animals for us all together!). And even though it's a bit far from our home, they were really open to coming and doing the home check (other homes refused to come outside of a certain area) and once the home check had happened, Wakky and Panther were home with us a matter of days after. The only thing I would complain about is the vet at Mayhew wrote on the kitten's notes that they had had diarrhea (caused by stress of a new place, and "very common with new kittens" according to the guy who helped us adopt them. This then meant that when one of the kittens ate too many treats one day, the insurance company wouldn't pay out as he "had a history of digestive disorders". So perhaps it needs to be evaluated what medical history Mayhew includes on the animals notes in the future, as it can cause problems for the owners when insurance comes to call! But regardless of this, it's a brilliant and spotless centre with lovely staff, and you can definitely tell the animals are looked after really well!

Amazing place, one of the only animal rescues I know that works in other countries with Muslims like myself, Afghanistan and etc. Loved seeing that as Muslims in 3rd World Countries need adapting to dogs and etc because the culture is not used to it so it is great to see what they are doing. Been waiting to see this in UK for a long time only seen it in Iraq & Iran before. Place is also very clean and looked after and staff are friendly and lovely and not judgemental. Animals are well loooed after and you can even find booklets on cat care and dog care and their works by reception. Newted ny beautiful cat. And was given a hard plastic round thing to put around her neck for 4 weeks. My cat had removed this cone before leaving the home 😒😒so you can just imagine how the 4 weeks went😑😒😫. I was told that i can call at anytime for advice and support and when I did call. My German shepherd was spayed yesterday and the staff was really awesome. I was impressed by the staff; they took the time to explain all the procedure before they took her inside and before picking her up, they allowed the dog to familiarize with the place and with them, the staff is very friendly and really animal lovers.
