Reviews of Paws 4 Walks
Karen is the most amazing dog walker, doggy day care and overnight stay person I could ever imagine. Her love for the dogs she takes care of is incredible. I would never trust my precious dog to anyone who didn't care for him as much as I do, but I know that Karen is the best there is.
I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a carer for their beloved pet. She goes above and beyond to help her clients, and would never give up on a dog unless they were causing actual harm to herself or her other charges.
No one can expect her to keep looking after dogs that injure her or hurt the other dogs she cares for. It's sad and frustrating to be told that a dog walker can no longer take your dog, but the owner has to accept responsibility for their dog's behaviour and not blame the dog walker.
There is no better dog walker in the area. Karen is amazing. I can't imagine any other dog walker who cares as much about the dogs in her care as she does. Our boy absolutely adores Karen, loves going on walks with her and stopping over in doggy daycare or for longer periods when we go on holiday.
I simply have to address the negative comment left on here. Karen would never easily give up walking a dog or having them stay over with her. She has been injured multiple times by dogs, I know, because I've seen clear as day the black eye caused and previous having had a tooth knocked out by one of her chargers. Yes, accidents happen. Karen has sustained a number of scratches due to our boy going into brambles and needing Karen to go in to cut him out because he's got himself entangled (he has long hair so easily snags on things.) Karen never complains, if she gives up on a dog, and is well within her rights, it's because that dog or dogs have become impossible for her to take care of. Karen does not give up at the drop of a hat. She is far too professional and caring for that.
We have had Karen walking and having her look after our boy for as long as we have had him, over 4 years. He is the most precious thing in our lives and we wouldn't trust anyone but Karen to look after him. In fact, we have even spoken to her about taking him on if something permanent happened to us that meant we couldn't be there for him. That is how much we value and trust her.
Please do not let one bitter, negative and unjust review deter you. You honestly couldn't find a more trustworthy, more caring and professional dog walker. If you're furbaby is as precious to you as ours is to us. You couldn't ask for better.
Karen has looked after my Kylie for a few years now both for her weekly walks and day care. Last year I was unexpected rushed into hospital and as soon as Karen heard about this she came straight round and collected Kylie looking after her until she herself went on holiday and she then took Kylie to the groomer who Kylie has known all her life. How many dog walkers/caters would think to do that? I do not let anyone take my dog but Karen is so very special. Each dog she looks after she treats as her own and loves them to pieces. Kylie absolutely adores her. We are sent pictures of our dogs on walks and on holidays/sleepovers. Each dog has a Paws4Walks collar with Karen’s mobile. She has qualifications in first aid so we can all be confident that our Karen could deal with it. Thank you so much for looking after Kylie, I am so grateful to you for all you do.
We have 3 sensitive, nervous, rescue dogs. Karen has a genuine connection to our dogs, who just love to hang out with her. She's incredibly personable and has the right combination of experience, consistency and sensitivity. We work hard with our rescues to help them gently overcome their anxieties and give them the security and love they need to flourish, it is so utterly reassuring to know that Karen provides them with the same consistency when we're not there, they run to her without hesitation (and without a backwards glance) and clearly adore her, in fact if we see each other on the downs they make a beeline to her tails wagging which speaks volumes. So reassuring for us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paws 4 Walks.
Karen is one of the kindest, caring people I know. My dog loved her & she loved him. My boy was very poorly & she was thoughtful all the way catering for his needs. If she doesn't walk your dog - get on her waiting list! Thank-you Karen for all your care & love you really are amazing! Louise (Dilbert's Mummy)x
I have a Springer Spaniel called Alfie! A more lively dog you would struggle to meet!
Him being from working stock Spaniels have many many positive traits! Being obedient, with traits of naughtiness, very loyal, extremely lovable and full of energy ! On the negative side however "anxiety" can be a problem that is throughout the Spaniel breed! This rarely rears its head if they have a stable home where they are looked after and not left for work or holidays all the time! One wouldn't find a better family dog! I emphasis the word 'family' because one wouldn't leave a family member at home all of the time for whatever reason!!
On reading the reviews about Karen and Paws for Walks I note that someone obviously dosent understand the breed! This person has slated Karen's total professionalism! The dogs in question have as far as I can see serious anxiety problems due to loneliness and lack of leadership ( pack mentality) ! Almost definitely caused because of their home life!
These dogs understandably show anxiety when arriving back home and probably at home! In the meantime the poor animals have not a clue who or where their family is when the supposed owners are off on their jaunts or work! These dogs should be with their family or at least acclimatise them to change so it's not such a shock trying to work out who or where their family has gone again!
So when poor Karen or indeed any other dog carer is tasked with looking after them spare a thought for the confusion in the dogs mind!
Couple this with the dogs exuberance, energy and playfulness the main things that are missing is who this time do they remain loyal and obedient to?? They are obviously going to act up and as in this case have caused damage to both property and Karen herself!
Not the dogs or Karen's fault at all, but the total disregard and ignorance about the breed from the dogs owners !
A dog has a very logical mind that gets distressed when their family ( pack ) disappear! Please think about this when choosing your pet! They should also be considered as a family member not as a trophy to be shown off occasionally!!
As an experienced dog owner and trainer I think this is unfortunately another sad tale about an owner that bought a dog or dogs without a thought for the traits of the breed ! The analogy being that you wouldn't buy a Pug to take down criminals would you?
Karen in the meantime has got to know Alfie and whether she is just walking him or looking after him has become a member of his family (pack) so is at all times he is totally at ease!
As I have said over the years I have had many dogs and obviously different professionals and family to look after them! I have never left a dog when its unwell and I believe anxiety in a dog is an illness!
Fortunately I look after my family including my furry friends so dont give anyone including my dog a cause for anxiety !
If however any of my dogs have become poorly or Karen believes it is not safe in anyway (eg. heat) she has always been very proactive to ensure their wellbeing! She being a full qualified animal first aider and also having a heart of gold I and Alfie feel totally at ease in her care!
Karen has become a friend both to Alfie, myself and my family and whoever knows her would I believe wholeheartedly agree! A lovely lady and true professional she can't seem to do enough for both her dogs with walks, games and lots of love!
Karen is one of the loveliest, most caring and respectful doggy people you could hope to find in this area. I trust her 100%, she is a total professional and puts the care of her charges as a number 1 priority. Wonderful woman!
Love Karen 💘 she is so passionate about all her dogs and thier owners, and always goes above and beyond in own time and even at her own expense x amazing lady thank you for all you support ❤
Always so caring and professional, all the dogs so excited to see Karen every time.. A++ Customer Service, couldn’t recommend higher!
