At the young(ish) age of 43, learning to drive was always going to be more challenging. I came across Kath whilst searching online and luckerly she had a slot become available to learn with her. I have nothing negative to say about my learning experience with Kath - she was the right amount of soft, and firm, with her approach to my lessons. A year after my first lesson, I passed first time with no minors! A testament not only to my hard work, but to the hard work of Kath in getting the best out of me and finding what made me tick. I couldn't recommend her more highly!

I passed my driving test first time with Kath last week. I honestly cannot recommend her enough. I’d tried to learn years ago but gave up because I lacked confidence and couldn’t imagine ever getting to the stage where I was ready to take a test. As soon as I re-started lessons with Kath I felt so much more at ease, she’s very patient, kind and knowledgeable with lots of tips and tricks to help tailor the learning to you and your needs. If it wasn’t for her I think I’d have given up again. Thanks again Kath for everything ☺️

I have just passed my test first time thanks to Kath. For a long time I lacked confidence with driving and struggled previously with learning to drive manual. I wanted to push myself to get driving so switched to automatic and started learning with Kath - she is a really reliable, trustworthy and helpful instructor who has been really good at identifying the methods and approaches that I have needed most. I have allowed my lack of confidence to overwhelm me at times but Kath has been incredibly helpful and gave me the skills and the confidence to pass! Would highly recommend - I am a very thankful new driver :)

Kath is an amazing instructor, experienced, knowledgeable and patient. I was a nervous and anxious learner, from the very first lesson, I felt safe and supported, she listened to my concerns and tailored the lessons to suit my skills and style of learning. I’m pleased to say I passed my test on my first attempt. Something that I don’t believe I would have been able to do had it not been for Kath and the lessons I had with her. Cannot recommend her and Jo Folkes driving highly enough.

I feel very lucky to have had Kath as my driving instructor. She was absolutely lovely and was very patient with me. She was very positive and gave me lots of confidence in myself. i have just passed first time after lessons with Kath. only 3 minors!!! the tuition i received was fantastic. genuinely a driving instructor, not someone who preps you to pass a test, but someone who takes the time and care to teach you to be able to drive safely and respectfully on any road in the country. i feel confident now driving alone and appreciate the effort and time she puts into her lessons she planned each lesson well and always built on the skills she developed the lesson before. everything seemed so fluid and simple learning with her. she was confident enough on my behalf to move my test date forward almost two months, a lesser instructor would've continued charging for unnecessary lessons, Kath's focus is on making you a safe driver and allowing you to take you test as soon as you are safe. competent and ready to do so. i would recommend her to anyone. thrilled with the lessons and will have a few more now I've passed to practice motorways and keep in good habits! thanks Kath

If I could give 10 stars ⭐️ I would! Patient, understanding, encouraging, calm, friendly, professional .. these are just some of Kath’s qualities. At times I wondered if my son would manage driving lessons due to his high levels of anxiety, and then I met Kath Bools. Kath took the time to get to know him, to understand his needs and to consistently encourage and support him with his driving. And yes! You know it! He passed first time 😃 so, so proud of my son and his achievement, and words cannot express how grateful I am to Kath for giving him an amazing confidence boost and the skill of driving for life 💕

He is a very quiet young man and has anxieties so we knew that it would take a patient, kind and gentle instructor to help him reach his goal ,which was to one day pass his test and drive independently, and that is exactly what we found with the driving instructors at Jo Folkes Driver Training, especially with Kath. I've been driving for 15+ years but never been confident on motorways and decided to get some motorway lessons. I chose Kath pretty much randomly but completely lucked out - I got through quite a few instructors when I originally passed my test, and she is the best by far! I think one of the things that is important is that she appreciates the psychological side of driving as well as the practical side and manages to be rigorous and understanding at the same time - no mean feat. As well as the motorway driving - I'm now not terrified of slip roads - she helped me a lot with brushing up my driving generally and also with parking. Really glad that I picked Kath and decided to have some lessons, and would definitely recommend her.

After a very bad experience, with a previous driving school, I lost a lot of confidence and I came very close to giving up learning to drive. Fortunately, I came across Jo Folkes Driving School and decided to take up driving lessons with the lovely Kath. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I soon gained all of my confidence back. Definitely will recommend Kath Bools (Automatic, from Bedford) to anyone who would like to learn to drive as she is very professional, calm and just brilliant! I knew her back in 2014 when I passed my driving first time. However, I needed her again now to bring my confidence back in driving after 3 years of not driving ( I have several reasons why I haven’t driven a car in those 3 years). But now, as a healthcare worker, a key worker who is due back to work after maternity, with 3 children and moved miles away from the hospital where I am working, I needed to get back into driving. Kath helped me to get back there, and would never again waste those skills.

I passes my driving test with only 3 minors; thanks to Kath from Jo Folkes Driver Training. I highly recommend her. If you need a safe and guaranteed way to become an independent and safe driver for yourself and your loved ones and of course also to pass your test; Kath is the one. She is very competent and a real expert yet very patient and kind. She will tell you all the positives and negatives but you never ever feel criticized; on the contrary you feel safe and protected because she takes care of you that much. She is always on time and always positive. Her advises on driving, besides being very to the point and progressive; can also be taken as life lessons :) After some time I passed my test, we also had another reminder session for the motorway driving skills which was also very very useful. I plan to have those from time to time because it is always good to keep up to date. So besides having lessons as a new driver, you can also have lessons as an experienced driver to sharpen your skills.

It's taken me until the age of 40 to learn how to drive and I have no regrets as it meant I got to learn with Kath! I've tried before but lack of confidence and terror has always held me back; Kath is not only an amazing instructor but she is a calm, caring and just generally lovely individual. I have no idea how she ever taught me to parallel park like a pro but she did. I cannot recommend Kath highly enough. She changed my life and I'm forever grateful! Due to some bad instructor experiences and a whole lot of driving-related anxiety, I honestly didn't think I could even book another test, let alone pass one. Kath was incredibly patient and kind, which I sorely needed after a lot of prior confidence-knocking. At 57 I was a bit long in the tooth to start learning to drive. I looked on the internet and found Jo Folkes driving school. I was teamed up with Kath , who was so proffesional, helpful, and freindly, and all through my many doubts kept me going, and installed self belief in me, thanks to kath teaching me safe driving for life. this morning after passing my test, i was confidently able to take my two grand daughters to school. I cant thank Jo Folkes driving school enough. I would recomend them to all that want to learn to drive.

Without hesitation I'd recommend Jo Folkes Driver Training to anyone looking for a driving instructor in the Bedford area. To be completely honest, I wasn't keen on learning to drive - and was only doing so for future work purposes. That said, with Jo as my instructor I came to enjoy my driving lessons and made much better progress than I had envisaged I would. Jo has a great teaching style and encourages you to progress without being pushy or inpatient. As a result, you gain the confidence to move forward and the self belief to develop. Jo's approachability and patience meant that she was always happy to go over areas again, or to re-explain things as needed. Really happy that I chose to go with Jo when looking for a driving instructor in Bedford.

I contacted Jo after being let down by a previous instructor, immediately after meeting Jo for the first time I felt extremely comfortable. Jo was at all times professional by ensuring that my lessons were well structured and organised, while keeping me calm and composed with friendly talk. In addition Jo praised me every time I did something good, which made me a very confident driver. However at the same time Jo ensured that all my mistakes were corrected until perfected, for example the marsh leys multi lane roundabout was my main hate, however with Jo's excellent teaching skills I can now deal with that roundabout like the back of my hand. With Jo's teaching I went from a hesitant learner driver to a confident and skilled driver who could as Jo says "drive smoothly". At the end of every lesson I walked away knowing I was closer to passing and I can ensure anyone that taking lessons with Jo is money very well spent, she is worth every penny and will not let you down. Without hesitation I would recommend Jo to all who are looking for a highly skilled trustworthy and reliable instructor. My little sister is very keen to join Jo as soon as we get her provisional licence back, before that waiting list of Jo's gets any longer! Jo taught me manual and helped me to pass first time with only 4 driving faults; Jo was always very reliable, always on time and flexible if you wanted to change your lesson.
