My experience with DVDS was amazing. My instructor was Hayley and I could not have had a better experience. She is so patient and understanding and adapts her teaching in order to suit each individual student which really benefitted me into passing with just one driving fault. She is great at recognising what work is needed in order to take your driving to the next level. She is great for very anxious students and those who lack in confidence and so would definitely guarantee an amazing experience with her. Thanks Hayley!

I highly recommend DVDS to any learner driver. Regarding the company as a whole, DVDS wholly puts its learners first and makes learning to drive a doddle. My experience with my instructor, Mandy has been exceptional. As an instructor she has been reassuring, supportive and genuinely passionate about helping myself and her other drivers get through that dreaded test all while manning the phone for the big boss man who I hope a swift recovery (Get some rest!). She is friendly, firm, fair and her knowledge in all areas road related certainly leads to a more realistic time as to when you are ready. Learning with DVDS was a great experience. My driving instructor, Phil, gave me good insight into the reason behind what is taught to learner drivers, which really cemented the importance in practicing safe driving. I felt very supported during lessons and this motivated me to improve every lesson. Also, I was given honest constructive feedback on my driving which allowed me to keep up to date on how I was doing. I felt like I had the freedom in lessons to practise aspects of driving that I felt I needed to improve on, which was especially helpful in the lessons leading up to my test (for example, repeating manoeuvres until I felt comfortable with my ability to do them right). I would recommend DVDS to any learner driver!

I highly recommend DVDS. I’ve just passed my practical test on the 1st attempt, which is thanks to them - I am not a natural driver by any stretch of the imagination. My driving instructor was Simon. He was fantastic; he worked very hard to hone my skills as a driver, getting the clutch control to be smooth as possible, timing when to switch gears coming up to junctions and roundabouts, and perfecting the road position to avoid the potholes that are dotted around Colchester. For me having someone with that wealth of knowledge and experience about driving be able to teach you to drive is invaluable - he was even pointing out the mistakes that other drivers were making on the road at the same time as improving my driving skills (failures to indicate properly, wrong lanes on approach, and some going way too fast). He was also very patient with my development as a driver - I like any learner driver made silly mistakes but we worked on them and I passed that test with just 3 minor faults. I’ve really appreciated the service they’ve provided in helping me to learn to drive, and I’ll be taking the advanced lessons with them so that I can get some valuable guidance on driving on the motorways.

I've been with DVD's since February 2020 (through three lockdowns!) and they have been excellent. Originally, Mario was my instructor and he was patient and very thorough. When Mario retired, Kieran kindly took me on. Kieran boosted my confidence and helped me iron out little mistakes I was making. Mandy then took my for my test, and I am very grateful that she was able to accommodate me quite last minute, and calm my nerves before the test. I would highly recommend DVDS if you’re learning to drive - especially Hayley! I learnt to drive in between all the lockdown restrictions and Hayley has been incredibly patient throughout and always got me back up to speed once we were allowed to drive again. Dedham Vale Driving School is an excellent place to learn to drive. My instructor (Kieran) gave clear lessons and was very patient throughout the whole process of learning to drive. Colchester can be a stressful place to drive around, especially as a learner, but DVDS eases you in to driving and makes the whole experience for more relaxing and enjoyable.

I can’t praise DVDS enough, especially Rick! After having my confidence knocked by a previous driving instructor, not getting back behind the wheel for nearly 4 years, I passed this week, first try with the help of the lovely Rick! I cannot recommend Rick enough. He's really good fun, puts you at ease and you will look forward to your driving lessons because he's like your mate. He adapts his teaching to the way that you learn so you can remember it best and also teaches you in a way that sets you up to be a good driver for life, not just to get you through the test. I only got my work rota a few days before the next week and Rick was super understanding about it and it was never a problem. I passed first time and really have only got great things to say about Rick.

The service that DVDS offers is unique: it does not rush you or make you feel pressured and they truly have the best interests of the learner at heart, gradually increasing your confidence to a point where you feel ready to take your test. I would highly recommend Keiran and DVDS as a driving school for anyone looking to learn! Keiran always made lessons enjoyable and helped me conquer my nerves, making me feel confident on the road. Couldn’t be happier with my first time pass today with only 3 driving faults! ☺️

THE FABULOUS MANDY AMAZING EXPERIENCE PASSED 1st Time. I would like to start by saying my experience with DVDS learners from start to finish has been absolutely fantastic. I was a nervous learner suffered with anxiety so could not have wished for a better company to have learnt to drive with. I took ages selecting what company to choose yet liked the DVDS website showing pictures of all in instructors and took time looking at the Facebook page and there amazing reviews. I Then decided to make the dreaded phone call as I was dreading starting to drive, I called the number and a very polite and Jovial chap answered the phone, I explained my situation around my anxiety issues and that I was actually scared to start driving. Straight away I was put at ease I was told not to worry etc and that all would run smoothly, the chap think was called Kieran was who I dealt with. He talked me through all my options and payment options etc and I already felt at ease. He said that an instructor would call me back later that day and he would explain the situation so the instructor was well aware of my issues. That evening the phone rang and I felt Really Anxious and didn't want to answer yet I did, hello it's Mandy from DVDS driving school. straight away she put me at ease she new my situation and was really good to talk to, she didn't rush me and had time to talk to me. In the call she got me booked in and I decided to pay for just 1 lesson as I was not sure how I would get on, no worries Mandy said and we ended the call. After the call I thought to myself I can do this so far I've spoken to 2 people and I feel great.. THE DAY OF THE DREADED FIRST LESSON CAME ..... My phone went off early in the morning with a txt saying, I will be at yours slightly earlier, I know your Anxious yet I'll get there earlier so we can get to know each other a bit first. wow that's a nice thing to do I thought to myself ... I waited for the car to drive past as there was no parking and I was meeting her up the road, there it was straightaway my heart hit the floor I physically felt sick but I walked down the road anyway. I was greeted by a great big smile and a friendly welcome, jump in Mandy said. I got in and she told me a bit about herself and I did the same. She then drove to a safe place all the way reassuring me all would be OK. We then carried out some safety bits and bobs a eye test and then before I knew it I was actually driving, YES DRIVING I felt great every time I got stressed Mandy was patient and I just kept improving. I spent a number of weeks working on my skills with Mandy each time improving and getting to test standard, Mandy did. Mock test and told me Amber you are ready lets book your test. I couldn't believe it me at test level what was I so worried about. Day of the test came round and Mandy got me a hour early, we set of she strenghend my nerves and I went out on test. I only went and Passed first time with 3 minors, omg I was ecstatic.... So basically if you want a company that is jovial, has patience and deals with every day issues correctly and gets you to test standard then this is for you. When you read all the positive reviews it's all true. THERE ALL A GREAT BUNCH, made my day seeing all the other smiling DVDS instructors as I drove around all giving a cheeky little wave to each other it's obviously a great place to work..
