I’ve done both a day out on the road with Mike and one of his track skills days, and can honestly say it’s the best 2 days I’ve had behind the wheel.
Mikes understanding of car physics and control, and his teaching style really help you make the most of your car.
The skills day is ran perfectly, along with his team, Mike ensures you come away from the day a much improved driver. The amount of time spent on track learning different techniques in a safe environment, in my opinion, make this much better than the usual track day.
I couldn’t recommend Mike enough to anybody looking to get the most amount of enjoyment, in the safest way, from their car.
Thanks again!

Mike was accommodating of our group’s driving needs for the 2 days he spent with us in Wales. He took time to understand our various driving backgrounds and delivered helpful tuition in a way that was effective, treating us as adult learners who also wanted to have fun. I’d happily recommend him to others and would use him again for road and track tuition.

Driver tuition!
We all make choices / decisions, however to get the right output requires some honesty.
Question : are you driving your car to the cars full capability, obviously not! So why do we spend thousands on the car, and nothing on the real problem. It’s shameful that it took me till 62 to work that out. I am now driving the least powerful car I have owned, quicker and safer than anything previous, and I can still improve, thanks Mike

Had the best time with Mike Cooper advanced racing tutoring! He is exceptionally knowledgeable, very experienced, meticulous, calm and observant - Everything you need in a pro racing instructor - I honestly can’t wait for my other sessions with Mike !

Best investment you will make in yourself and your car.
Mike is a top bloke and great instructor. His background is teaching physics and it shows - clearly explains difficult concepts and reads you as a pupil to check your understanding. From here he tailors your training so you get the most out of the day, both in terms of your desired outcomes and his assessment of your needs.
I’ve done days on road, track days and his private track group days at Blyton. All are incredibly valuable (and incredible value) and in not much more than a year I’ve become a much better and safer driver. I now feel confident behind the wheel at and over the limit. Still lots and lots to learn though. This transfers to road well under the limit in too many ways to list e.g. changing gear, car balance.
Previous track days I was slower, harder on the car, less safe and not having as much fun.
Writing this review now because his training has just saved me pranging my car. Had to emergency stop and missed a u-turning van that hadn’t seen me, by less than a foot. In December we’d been working on hard braking exercises at Blyton. It was an odd situation but perhaps I could have done something differently to avoid it completely.
Not just track focussed either and 500bhp Porsche not required. Most of my sessions have been in a standard FIAT Panda with less than 100hp.

In summary..... Mike is a great guy with a wealth of road and track driving experience who has already helped me make some big changes to improve my safety, vehicle handling and enjoyment (not just speed) behind the wheel. Having done a road day I am now really looking forward to a track day, which I've already scheduled. I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Mike to anyone who wants to get more out of their driving.
In a little more detail....Although I have been driving over 20 years this was my first 121 road driving, driver tuition day. Mike was a pleasure to be around, and made the day relaxed, but constantly informative. I've subsequently written a page of training notes (thanks Mike for following up with another half page!) so needless to say there is a huge amount to take on board. This was a real positive to me, as I intend to work on these improvements as long as I'm driving (this is not a process for quick fixes), although there were a number of immediate improvements I was able to make from braking application through to turning in techniques (there were many, many more...). Mike will help you look at your driving environment through a different lense, help you better understand your impact on the car through the laws of physics/mechanics, in a very digestible way, and recommend changes which you can make easily and feel the moment you implement them. One day with Mike has really changed the way I drive, and has enabled me to assess, refine and appreciate so many more elements of my driving and environment... Applying some of the changes will take me time and introducing these on the road, for me at least, will be helpful before the track session. I look forward to more sessions in the future and hopefully a few less areas for feedback!! Overall the day was a great introduction to improving my driving - I'm really looking forward to the track day and continuing to improve and get more out of my driving with Mikes help!

Mike delivers custom driver training for us on a regular basis and his experience and skills are extremely valuable. Its great to have been able to continue to engage his services in 2022!

After thirty years of accident free driving and a few track days, I considered myself reasonably competent behind the wheel of a car. But I booked Mike for my son after he passed his test, so that he could drive as safely as possible.
After my son had spent four hours with Mike, he was kind enough to take me out for the remaining time. I can only say that experience was a complete revelation; Mike's guidance has made me a smoother, better, much more aware driver and I no longer find long journeys on the UK's overcrowded road tiring.
I can't recommend Mike too highly. I wish every 17 year old could spend a day with him and I wish I'd spent a day learning from him all those years ago!

Mike was an excellent teacher/coach in a 6 hour advanced driving course, I had with him. He reads people and situations and throws a totally different light into being on the road.
Very easy to get on with - instantly relaxes you. He was subtlety picking out any "bad habits" I had but was doing so in such a manner which didn't feel like a put down. He was Very Focused and dedicated and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. After leaving him and driving home, Everything around me was viewed in a different light. Driving actually felt exciting again !
Basically, Mike teaches you to be awake: aware: and ALIVE while on the road but your heightened awareness seems to carry over into your every day life as well.
Was an excellent course and worth every penny. Would highly recommend any one who was thinking about doing it.

Excellent and very observant tuition, noticed things about my driving that previous tutors had not. Will be returning

Mike is a first class driver and coach on and off track, race, rally, road and defensive driving, you name it and Mike’s mastered it. He’s also very easy to get on with and is always happy to share his wealth of knowledge.
Mike’s driver training courses are like no other. He covers a range of exercises that are designed to bring out your strengths and weaknesses which you will never experience by just lapping round a track. He puts a lot of thought into you and your training on and off track. The road driving videos and discussions are lively and very thought provoking and are all linked with on track driving. You never stop learning in a fun way. The stages he sets out on track really give you the chance to practice skills and techniques and put the car on the limit in a safe way. These courses are for beginners up to advanced race drivers as the learning is applicable in all circumstances. You also get plenty of chance to do some flat out lapping sessions. The exercise he runs with cars lapping side by side is a real eye opener in term of track grip and the difference it makes where you place the car. I don’t know anyone else who runs these type of courses but I highly recommend them. The social side is also a real bonus, being able to share your passion and enthusiasm with like minded people. Thanks Mike your really developing world class driving courses!

The skills day was a fantastic experience. This was my first time on a track day and Mike and his colleagues gave me some really useful advice, particularly relating to improvements in my driving position, the need to relax even when the car is in a 'high energy' situation, braking technique and steering input.
I was amazed that my fastest times were no more that 1.5 seconds of the quickest times set by the Aston Martins, especially as I drive a '2 litre estate car' and it was my first time at this type of event.
I felt I was in a low risk environment and this gave me the confidence to really push the car and learn what myself and the car are capable of.
The weather was warm and sunny, however I don't think it would have made any difference to my enjoyment of the day had it been raining as I would certainly have gained just as much.
Thank you everyone for a well managed and enjoyable day.

Great day on the track with nice bunch of people. Brand new car so steep learning curve but always supportive yet challenging. Fun too.
Had some road driving lessons pre-COVID from Mike which were well worth it too. In very different cars each time! I’m used to very old Cars and driving new machines means very different approach.

Skills day @ Blyton, December 2019: Great opportunity to practise my left-foot braking in a safe, controlled track environment. The "exploring off-the-racing-line grip exercise", combined with "pressure" from being chased or chasing another car, was a unique and really useful exercise. Will book again in the spring with a different (FWD) car to reinforce the training.

Thanks for the day yesterday, i can honestly say i've never had so much fun in a car before. I started feeling nervous, but through the exercises and time spent on track, with the snippets of wisdom from yourself, Bob and Eric, finished feeling confident enough to push myself and car to limits i hadn't been near before. I even felt in sufficient control to slide my ridiculous car through some very tight bends!

Fantastic Day out and an experience to remember. First time doing something like this and would recommend to anyone to wants to learn about understanding how your car responds to emergency inputs. Friendly team members and a great day all round.
