My experience dealing with Mike Ormiston at Michael Page has been nothing short of brilliant. I've rarely dealt with recruiters, and when I have, sadly found them to be largely impersonal, intermittent in their follow up and often insincere. Working with Mike has been the opposite - he has spent a great deal of time getting to know me, what I can offer and what I value, and ultimately has taken a huge amount of care over my job search. I've been looking for something very particular, and cultural fit and scope of opportunity have been really important to me. Mike's a great listener, and truly "gets it" - he's insightful and wicked smart. I'd like to think we're now firm friends, within just a few months of meeting. He has sought out introductions where a role hasn't even yet been defined, and every conversation he's set up for me has been perfectly pitched on both sides. Since moving to Yorkshire I've always found Michael Page to be one of the best recruitment agencies in terms of getting me interviews for suitable positions, after that it is up to me! The past 6 months I've been on an interim contract through Michael Page and it has went really well, minimal issues. I've been working for a really good company and while 100% working from home have felt part of the team. If I was to say one constructive thing it would be on the website where you submit your timesheets, there is an option to save them and for the first week or two I was saving them rather than submitting them. Personally I wouldn't have this option because if it confused me I would guess it has confused others when they start!

They came across my CV and called me for a suitable role. I was interested and wanted to be put forward. Without naming individuals, they told me (over the phone) not to mention said job as it was an exclusive advert for Michael Page...imagine my shock a few days later I get a call from a different recruitment company asking if I want to be put forward for the same role. They were very professional and said they can't represent me as Michael Page had started (as I was under the impression I had been put forward)....but I had feeling and asked the other recruitment if they can't out me forward, can they at least ask the hiring manager if they have my CV, and that they can confirm Michael Page had out me forward.... Surprise surprise, nope, they hadn't heard of me. It's a bit unfair to rate the company low because of one recruiter. Because when I couldn't even reach them again directly to chase up, whoever answered the generic phone number I found from Google. They couldn't have been more helpful. It was all a bit strange, because I don't even have any email confirmation, I asked over the phone, multiple times and confirmed my email address to make sure. But no, I only asked for a job spec and a link to the clients website to make sure I was researching the right place. And they couldn't even do that.
