Reviews of Elements Talent Consultancy

I have been working at Elements for almost three years now and I couldn't have chosen a better company to work with. So proud of our collaborative culture and the amazing growth opportunities that the company offers!

Edit/Update: After leaving this review, Amy reached out to me directly for a Google Hangout Session, and during that time she apologized and provided clarity on the error in their system. I truly appreciate the follow-up and thorough commitment to ensure that the hiring process is a little smoother. And, I empathize with the process of figuring out a new system. Thank you for taking the time to follow-up with me!
I'm leaving this review as a candidate who had contact with Amy Powell from Elements. I think it's important for companies to understand how their partnering recruiting agencies treat potential candidates. The hiring process has become so dehumanizing these days, with candidates spending hours on resumes, cover letters, and sometime slaving over quirky answers to "Tell us about yourself in 100 characters or less. Say something that will catch our eye!"
As most people know, applying for a job is both difficult and time consuming. Candidates are asked to jump through many hoops, and most of the time they hear nothing. On the other hand, I imagine that being a recruiter is difficult and time consuming, too. You review so many qualified candidates and try to make the best decision on a reasonable timeline, and it is easy to make mistakes or overlook a process.
I was contacted by Amy for a position at Spotify. Amy stated that we had spoken the week prior and that she would like to move me to the next stage of the process: a Google Hangout Interview. I was quite confused because although I had multiple interviews the week prior, I would've remembered speaking with someone about this position as it excited me. My name is rather unique, so I was surprised that a recruiter could have me mixed up with someone else. At the same time, I know that they're busy and mistakes happen. I messaged Amy inquiring as to whether or not I'm the right candidate, explaining that we hadn't spoken via phone. I also forwarded my resume in case there was a system error, along with my availability--no response. After a day, I followed up for more clarity, especially since my schedule was filling quickly with 3 more interviews--no response. I've continued to wait with no response.
Perhaps Amy felt embarrassed by the mistake and didn't want to let me down, though I would've been understanding. I think that the worst thing for potential applicants to experience is silence, especially after someone has reached out offering hope. We put a lot of time and emotional energy into the application process, so the least someone can do is acknowledge their mistake. I noticed that her original email inviting me to interview via Google Hangouts had different fonts, so I considered it was possible that there was a copy/paste error. Either way, I found it very disrespectful and disappointing for Amy to send an e-mail like that and not bother to follow-up for clarification. It felt indifferent and dehumanizing.
I've had recruiters make mistakes in the past, one going so far as to send me a rejection letter on accident when I had an interview scheduled the next day. When I messaged for clarity, the recruiter called and apologized. Even though I turned down that position, I remember my experience with that company and will have nothing but excellent things to say in the future. They treated me like a person.
I'm trying to not let Amy's behavior put a bad taste in my mouth for Spotify moving forward. Ultimately, I will likely take another position given the rate at which I'm moving through rounds of inters. Still, I think that future companies should be mindful that Elements tolerates this type of unprofessionalism.
