We got married here on the 31st July and can’t thank the team enough for the extremely well run day that it was. Kirsten looked after us in the main and nothing was an issue. We were made to feel a priority, and didn’t have anything to stress about at all. This venue is one that can ensure your day is 100% and some!

I've been planning my wedding for quite a few years, I was anxious but I had no reason to be 💛 Amy and Bernie were excellent with emails and calls then on the day of the wedding we had Kayleigh for our wedding coordinator. Kayleigh went above and beyond to ensure everything was amazing she even helped me take my hair down and undo my wedding dress at the back since I struggled haha! All my guests were happy and buzzing! Genuinely could not ask for a better wedding if I'm honest. Once my guests left we decided to have one last private dance Kayleigh set up the lights and Owen chose Elvis falling in love song for us to dance too in private in our venue 💛. I will always be thankful for my time at the vu especially with the cabin oh my god I felt like a queen! From start to finish I can't fault anything and if I could do it again I would at The Vu 💛. Thank you to all the staff for making mines and Ryan's day perfect.

We had my daughter's wedding here on the 30th of October,it was perfect from start to finish,the staff are cheerful helpful and very professional,the surrounding views are stunning and facilities are amazing,wish we could do it all again !!!

Really nice experience,the place was really clean and tidy,we had a fridge with complementary breakfast which was lovely,the only drawback was that we couldn't see the lake and the garden due to a wedding, the staff there told us that we can't visit it because we might disturb the wedding guests. Overall a really nice place

I was there for a wedding. The log cabins are beautiful where you can rent for the night. The main hall had plenty of space for a large crowd and the 3 course meals, that were pretty good as well. Would recommend it, if you may need space and a place to sleep for any occasion unless it's for weddings only I'm not to sure as I didn't stay overnight, but I still took a walk round to see the cabins anyway. I would definitely go back

The setting for this wedding venue is spectacular. This was my second visit. Prices for drinks are really high and the meal was okay but small portions. I was looking forward to the night buffet which was amazing on my first visit, but it was very poor and certainly not of the same standard.

I attended a wedding here and loved every minute of it. As soon as we arrived staff took care of us making sure we were looked after until the wedding began. The Water Lily suite was stunning and the view was amazing. After the ceremony we went over to the Oasis suite where again staff were really attentive. It began to rain before we went back and the staff gave us umbrellas to walk back over for the meal. The food was great had enough time in between each course. The staff at the Vu made us feel very welcome. They were professional throughout the day couldn’t do enough. I look forward to the day of returning for another wedding being held there. In the mean time I look forward to going there for some Cocktails and food in the near future and the view!

I've been to two weddings and three receptions at this place, so feel like my thoughts on this place are on balance. If you are reading this and are planning a wedding, you'll want to know if the place is right for you. Firstly, go visit the place. Stop reading these reviews and experience the views and location itself. Then come back here. :-) Lets get the obvious things out of the way. There is lots of parking, probably more than you'll need. There are local taxi services, but they can be heavily in demand in the evenings so expect long waits, so plan ahead. The place is well looked after although the toliets could probably do with a refresh. Finding the place is easy, it's sign posted, but sat-navs may take you to the small hamlet at the bottom of the hill instead of The Vu, just keep driving up the hill and you'll find it soon enough. Outside of the buildings, there are some small walking and sitting areas, ideal for when it gets too hot in the evenings, and it always does (drinking, food and dancing... go figure!) It obviously has a bar and the drinks are reasonably priced. The food is good, it's a fairly typical wedding setup and the evening snacks/meals for the evening guests are always a good shout. You could have big and small weddings here, but the place does have a better feeling to it when there are lots of people. One of the weddings I attended, the place had easily over 100 people in the "Oasis" suite. The wedding/chapel building is a seperate building from the Oasis suite. It's got a great view and lots of light, it does also have a small bar. I suppose you could have your entire wedding in this space alone if the numbers were small enough. All in all, I find myself getting invites to weddings their often, which is great because the place is wonderful each time I visit.

I have to say that I'm sorry to read some of these negative reviews. My experience of The Vu is very different to them. I've been to three weddings here, two as a guest and one when my daughter was getting married. My daughter and her then boyfriend instantly fell in love with the venue. The location is stunning and perfectly suited to weddings of all sizes. In the run up to the wedding we had regular contact with our wedding organiser and everything was handled efficiently and professionally. The packages they offer and the attention to detail were both excellent to the extent that you feel that they can"take the strain", leaving you more relaxed in the run up to the day. All the staff that we met were excellent, in particular the drivers of the wedding cars. They really couldn't have done more to help us enjoy the journey to The Vu. The food was tasty and plentiful, you absolutely will not be hungry here! Everyone that I know who has attended a wedding here has always said that they would recommend it to their friends. I would still have no hesitation in doing so.

Having attended other weddings and functions at The Vu I booked it for my wedding as it’s such a beautiful setting. Unfortunately we have had to rearrange our date due to the pandemic, however, I can’t thank the staff enough for all the assistance given to us to rearrange our day. It’s a difficult time for all businesses just now but regardless the staff were highly professional, caring and answered all our queries and worries promptly during an upsetting time for us. The customer service and care extended to us to date has been second to none. Would highly recommend and can’t wait for my wedding day!

She fell in love with the setting, the location and was amazed at how good value the wedding package was in comparison to other venues she had looked at. Spent the night in one of the luxury snugs after attending a wedding. The snug was certainly lovely and spacious but for the money we paid I would expect there to be hand soap provided for the bathroom. It also stated continental breakfast supplied we were given a pre packed muffin, granola yoghurt pot, small bottle of orange juice and bottle water each when queried was told it's just a snack. There's certainly room for lots of improvement given the cost

Absolutely amazing! After a year of uncertainty this venue worked with us to find a resolution. We now have a future date planned in, I’m completely secure in the knowledge that this venue is following the guidelines set out by the government to protect both us, my guests and of course there are the staff to consider. My contact at the Vu has kept me up to date since COVID interrupted our plans a year ago. They’ve been very understanding and accommodating throughout. I have nothing but great things to say!

Was,at,a,wedding and could not fault the organisation, presentation,food and general vibe. It, was a beautiful setting and the wedding felt very intimate. Lovely setting for a wedding although if the weather was not playing ball I can imagine it could be cold and windy. The photos taken look lovely tho with the rural setting. Drink price I thought was not to bad but I was only on bottled beer and £3.50 for a 330ml Bud. Food was nice, the chicken was a bit dry but the sauce was nice and helped. The cheesecake was lovely too. Staff seemed to know what they were doing, all looked quite young but can't really fault them in service.

Fell in love with this venue and booked for my original wedding in 2020, this has now been postponed to 2022 due to Covid (not the vu).The vu could not have been any more helpful throughout the process. Had my tasting meal for the wedding in 2020 and the food was delicious! I also booked here for a meal during the pandemic and again had a great day. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. The Canadian log cabins are to die for! Packages overall are great value for money, we couldn’t find anywhere else with similar packages. Highly recommend

I don’t normally write reviews but I feel so strongly about the negative reviews that have been posted of lately which might put some people off that are thinking about booking their Special Day. My daughter got married there and as I had not heard of The Vu before I was a bit sceptical but I can assure ALL that from my first Visit to The Vu and as mother of the bride it was nothing more that joyous. The Venue and the location are spectacular second to none!!! The staff where soooo friendly and professional they maid me feel special as mother of the bride even to the point that they knew my first name and I thought that was lovely. We where shown round the whole venue given as much time as we needed and all our questions where answered with positive vibes. On the day of the wedding from start to finish our WHOLE family and friends where blown away with the Venue, The staff where friendly, professional and went above and beyond to make sure the whole wedding party enjoyed their day . The food was truly delicious and PLENTY of it !!! I can not express enough to anyone that is thinking about looking at THE VU as a future Wedding Venue for their Special Day to make an appointment and go and see for yourselves you will be blown away with what you see. I certainly give it 5 stars

If you get married here you stay in one of the cabin's next to the Venu that look amazing. Food is amazing I've had no complaints and staff are really nice easy to approach. Definitely recommend

Went to my niece's wedding here and it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was good and plentiful. My sister is disabled but not a wheelchair user but because we had to walk from one building to another the staff provided a wheeled transport for her. The only downside was getting taxis afterwards but that was not the fault of the staff and would recommend anyone to order early.

Attended a wedding here July 2015. Would recommend as a wedding venue. Views from the grounds were stunning. Ceremony was held in The Water Lily room which was lovely. Wedding breakfast and evening reception were held in the other building - again very nice. Tables looked fabulous. Centre pieces really stood out. Canapes and champagne after the ceremony were lovely. Wedding breakfast was also nice. There was quite a wait for food, then a long wait between starter and main course. Unsure why this was. The children who were at the wedding became very restless, hungry and were leaving the tables to venture outside etc. Similarly with the adult guests. A good number of people were up and out and about. All in all we had a lovely day, and would recommend the venue.

My brother got married here yesterday. the venue is stunning and the food was amazing. the only thing that lets it down slightly is the serving staff. A waiter put gravy all down my shawl never apologised or offered to clean it. The bar had no change at start of night. everytime we ordered a round we were never charged the same price. having to consistently wait 15 to 20 mins to get served was a bit of a sickener too. i am sure you can make improvements. if staffing was resolved this would be 5 star venue.

Attended a wedding at this restaurant on Saturday the 25th August and will give an honest review. First of all, it is a beautiful location for a wedding to take place so no complaints there. My husband is disabled and really struggled to walk up what is actually quite a steep slope with nothing to hold on to and I think this needs looking at. Someone pushing a wheelchair up there would find it nearly impossible. The meal was absolutely gorgeous, I had the beef as my main course and I've honestly never had such a large, thick slice in all my life. The entire meal was faultless in fact. The staff who served our table never once cracked a smile and I wasn't the only one in the room to comment on that fact, so maybe be a wee bit friendlier service would go a long way. All in all though, apart from a couple of niggles it's a beautiful venue and would recommend it.

Beautiful setting, but I expected more from this venue. It was all just okay, nothing bad, nothing exceptional. From the staff member who only pointed us in the vague direction of where we wanted to go (we had no idea where this room was) when he should have taken us, to being curtly told that the bar was shut and I could get a drink in another part of the venue, it left me thinking they could do better. The food was okay, not bad, but nothing to rave about. Portions were quite small, food was warm, but not hot. It wasn't bad enough to be disappointed, but it wasn't as good as I expected.

We had our wedding day at the Vu on 14th July 2019 and it was an incredible day! We would highly recommend the Vu! As well as being a beautiful and romantic venue with stunning scenery, the staff are absolutely amazing! They were so easy to communicate with throughout the whole process and nothing at all was a bother. We made use of their suppliers who were fantastic to work with and we also used their own decorations, decor and DJ. On the day of our wedding the whole atmosphere was relaxed, romantic, natural and fun. Everyone was dancing all night long. The food was absolutely delicious! And everyone spoke about how good the meal was. All the staff really took great care of us but most importantly Eleanor, our wedding co-ordinator on the day was truly one in a million! She was so helpful, friendly and kept us on track but never rushed us! She was very easy going and patient with us. She made sure we had drinks all day and really spoilt us. Alan was also amazing and he kept checking in with us to make sure everything was great for us! Honestly, we couldn’t believe how relaxed the day was! I stressed for nothing because on the day, all the staff melted my stress away. And if that wasn’t enough, the luxurious cabins were a delight and we felt very comfortable and pampered. In addition, the car drivers were true gentlemen, all three men really helped make us relaxed and in particular helped keep me calm before getting to the venue. Honestly, we can not thank everyone enough from the Vu, they really made our day extra special and all of our guests absolutely loved it and are still talking about it. We held my daughter's wedding here on19th March this year. Absolutely delighted with the day, with special thanks to all at the Vu. The staff ensured that everything ran as smoothly as possible. It would be too harsh to say that it was like a military operation, but the professionalism of all the staff, from the drivers to the wedding organiser guiding us through the proceedings and putting us at ease was exceptional. The venue itself, The Lily Pond, provided a wonderful setting and really did impress our guests, particularly those from south of the border. The quality and quantity of food, from the canapes through the wedding meal to the evening buffet was both to a very high standard and generous. Would recommend this venue to anyone.

Beautiful venue, shame about the staff, absolute zero communication went on between them. On arriving we asked to use the changing room and were sent to a locked room which no-one would answer us when we asked for the key. Then the coordinator (I suspect) entered from an adjacent room and the staff directed our question to her still without acknowledging us. She led us to an adjacent room where it turned out the baby change was in the toilet which we hadn't been told. The next time we came across a staff member was when the announcement was made to move room she literally stood less than a foot away from our faces and shouted louder than the town crier for us to move rooms. We moved rooms and needed to use the change area again to be told to return to main building. On entry to building we were shouted at across the outside area not to go in there was another wedding going on even though I could clearly see my parents being served drinks through the window. We explained we needed to use the change area to be told to return to the room we came from. There was food all over the floor which I slipped on, my two year old son almost escaped an unlocked staff safety gate to the pond which should have been locked, I was told I couldn't get a toast drink as they were all done! Everytime we returned to the toilet area we were told that they changed it to another area. In general the lady in charge was very rude her manner and attitude left a lot to be desired. She was unhelpful, unpleasant and very curt. Yes it is a beautiful venue and the actual wedding itself was stunning aesthetically however it was the service was very impersonal with little to no communication to the guests. Poor show

Lovely scenery and an ideal place to have a Wedding and Reception.Some reviews have mentioned that it's pricey and the Staff are not interested in the guests.The prices are a wee bit steep,but I was of the understanding that there are a lot of new Staff,and I found them friendly enough.The Vu is in the middle of nowhere,but worth the effort if invited to a Wedding here.

If you're thinking of having your wedding at the Vu Bathgate, let me put your mind at rest. As a professional wedding photographer, I photograph weddings all over Scotland and have many years experience of wedding venues. I have never met (to my knowledge) the owners of the Vu however, on the many occasions which I have attended the Vu to photograph a wedding, I can say without doubt, the staff, the wedding co-ordinator and the limo drivers are 100% focused on providing the Bride, Groom and their guests with the best possible experience. All the staff have 'in ear' communication systems (even the drivers) and I have often witnessed the organisation which goes on, behind the scenes, to ensure everything runs smoothly. I'm normally in attendance for approx 7 or 8 hours on each of the occasions I have worked there and have often heard comments from guests, about how much they had enjoyed their meal. The Vu, in my opinion, is probably the best wedding venue in central Scotland and of course, the surroundings provide ample opportunity for great wedding photographs.

What an amazing and wonderful venue. Our daughter got married on a Tuesday in October. It was an overcast day, a bit grey and just a little rain, was coldish outside however once we seen The VU the warmth began and soon the sunshine of the staff put smiles on all our faces. I knew the location was good as I had mentioned it to my daughter and fiancé a couple of years beforehand. The photos hardly convey the overall impression we have been left with. Attended a wedding on 10/06/17 at The Vu first imressions were lovely then came the prosseco to toast the bride & groom this is were it went downhill as my husbands glass was stained with lipstick i returned the glass for a fresh one three times and still no apology he done without!onto the waterlily for meal where the staff continually leaned over each of us at table whilst still eating and no apology for this infact no communication at all!!we are all manerly people and found this unappreciative as guests!the meal was tasty only thing 2 tiny pieces of potato for grown men seamed miserly,my next issue was the buffet where 6 plates were placed on a table for 12 guests not enough napkins and 6 pieces of cake to share maybe an issue to me as a cake lover, the staff whisked it all away without warning or being offered the chance to save a piece for later (which i would normaly do) i or we feel more communication and smiles would have made the day more pleasurable as my nephew is having his wedding at this venue later in the year i will certainly be checking out the next experience and comparing both weddings hoping the next one is a better all round day/night
