Colchester born and bred and I've been there many times. The Moot Hall is a stunning room and I was at the reunion of Colchester Players and Fans held there last Saturday. Certainly a venue to consider for a wedding or event, can't comment on the catering just it's lovely to know that it's still there and I hope for many years to come. Historic Colchester Landmark and gorgeous piece of architecture, built in 1902, I seem to remember.

I had my wedding here in the community room and it was amazing I can’t believe it is the same price as Colchester registry office, it was so lovely to have a proper venue instead of in the library, staff were lovely so were the registrars and we got such lovely photos outside the town hall and on the stairs, amazing venue and really made my day special especially considering it was during covid, thank you very much, Mr and Mrs Millar

A guided tour by Sir Bob Russell is always a pleasure. He is never short of an anecdote or twenty. I recommend any of his tours. This was followed by an explanation of the Moot Hall organ with a tune or two as well. Lovely morning.

Not a bad town hall this one, it's got a few statues of local worthies and the great and the good. They were keen on Queen Victoria. It's pleasant there and the big hall at the top is very interesting. I think it should be used more for various purposes and open more to the public.

This town hall is a wonderful example of Victorian architecture. It's a great venue & very grand with everything you need. The staff are very helpful & accommodating. Totally recommended.

Some great stone masonry on this building, as you can see from my photos. Certainly a grand building, unarguably Colchester's finest. Luckily this town hall wasn't hit by bombs in WW2, you can see from looking at the rest of the high street which other buildings were replaced and are thus more modern, so it's fortunate to be unscathed.

Visited here for a wedding - pleasant welcome from staff and nice venue upstairs . There was a good space for a small wedding with the bonus of a stage for performances. Only downside is that the initial stairs into the venue make it tricky for disabled or pushchair access (I didn't see disabled access) but there is a lift once you make those stairs.

An excellent example of a Victorian Town Hall. Constructed in the 1890s or so and maintained in very good order. The main re option hall is call Moot Hall and is a wonderful example of the Victorian love of high ceilings and gothic architecture. A very suitable location to hold both civic and large family events such as banguets, dinners and receptions of all kinds.

Visited here as an exhibitor at a craft fair in the moot hall, access to set up is a nightmare. Enter at the back door with trolley down a level in lift and along a corridor to another small lift up three floors to hall level then along a long narrow corridor with two 90 degree bends which proves to be awkward when two rolling cages come in opposite direction only passing room at the bends! This is also the wheelchair access so same problem applies to passing wheelchairs. From an architectural point of view this building is impressive, and has some excellent examples of Victorian stained glass windows.

Recently was here for my friends ceremony and found it was quite a lovely ceremony and using the staircase for pictures afterwards ended it beautifully.

A rather grand building, the topped with a fine Portland stone clocktower. The figure on the top is St Helena, patron saint of Colchester, and the statues around the outside walls are of influential Colchesrians including William Gilberd, famed for his study of magnetism. As well as civic offices inside can be found the Moot Hall, named after Colchester's first town hall built in 1160. The Moot Hall is the home to a recently restored Edwardian pipe organ.
