"Soar High With the Eagles at X Platoon" I have had the pleasure of using the facilities at X Platoon recently, and I was very impressed with every aspect of the training provided, the facilities themselves were not showy or flamboyant at all and instead were basic and stripped back of unnecessary additions. The atmosphere upon arrival is relaxed and welcoming. If you are choosing somewhere to learn, simple, valuable and key lessons to increase your effectiveness with either single man drills, or as part of a team, then this is the place for you. The facilities span a large and scenic area of countryside and woodland and include areas for mounted and dismounted drills, a large indoor briefing and admin building and even and on site range. Your lead instructor Steve is a man who is easy to listen to, as his vast knowledge and wealth of experience is clear as he's teaches you what you came to learn in a professional and consise way. I will certainly be using X Platoon again to further my skills and knowledge in the future.

X platoon is professionally run and is Absolutely the place to go whether or not you have had any previous experience as the learning process is tailored to suit you. Steve Heaney is a top bloke who has' walked the walk' and applies his wealth of knowledge in teaching the weapons handling/drills in a calm safe manner.His patience must be legendary considering he had to teach me..lol. Would 100% recommend this company to anyone whatever your skill level or activity

29th September 2021is a day i will always remember. A longstanding family booking at the shoothouse saw myself and youngest son travelling up the A1 to meet the legend that is Steve Heaney. The plan for the day was clearly set out over a coffee while the initial paperwork was sorted out, and the safety briefing was given. Safety drills and disciplines were at the heart of the day, after all if you want to do it right and get the proper experience you need the proper processes in place. We began with weapon familiarisation and safe handling, when Steve was happy with us we moved on to some basic techniques with our "longs". Instinctive CQB is different to other shooting and requires developing specific techniques, which Steve explained with the level of calm professionalism that you would expect from a man of his experience. With sage words accuracy and groupings showed a rapid improvement. We then moved on to pistol techniques ( learning to turn and engage targets was challenging and great fun) The session finished with combined techniques using the long and moving onto pistol. Would we go again you bet we would, in fact we are looking at dates now for another full day. Thanks Steve a great day

X platoon , brilliant and very squared away facility. If you currently have experience with firearms or are completely new to it, this place caters for all. You will be directed by Steve who is a highly skilled and knowledgeable instructor, He will make you feel comfortable. You're guaranteed to have a very enjoyable day in my opinion. I will be going back asap to brush up on my skills and drills.

Thoroughly enjoyed my one to one training with Steve. I’d been aware of X Platoon from Instagram and since the easing of lockdown I decided to crack on and book myself on the full day course. I headed up to Durham and checked into the Indigo hotel (very nice) and then the following morning headed over to the farm. Steve gave me training in the handling of two weapons in his firing range and showed me various techniques. We had time for a few coffees, some lunch and general chit chat and he kindly signed my copy of his book - what’s not to like!! I’ve signed myself up to Steve’s Arctic Adventure in March next year so suffice to say these types of events very much tick all the boxes

Steve doesn’t just talk the talk but he walks the walk and from the moment you arrive you can see he takes great pride and passion in passing on the knowledge he’s learnt over a long career. At X platoon we was taught some brilliant skills and drills, the tutors went into detail from how to connect your holsters to competently showing you how to fire your weapon and different positions. The tutors were fantastic and the facilities are equally as great! Thanks guys.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Steve and Nick, who each have a wealth of highly credible experience, ran a fantastic day of situational awareness training and weapons drills. Very realistic scenarios for anyone interested in security training, regardless of experience.
