From first walking in to Emma Roy I immediately felt welcomed by the staff and they couldn't do enough to make me feel comfortable. I was quite nervous about trying dresses because as a size 16 (size 20 in wedding dress sizes) I knew I would struggle to find samples that fit me but the staff were really reassuring and supportive and did everything they could to help me find the perfect gown. I tried on about 4 dresses in the store all of which were stunning and I found the perfect gown. Alterations were done by seamstree Ali who did the most incredibly professional job and was so caring and supportive. She made sure I felt totally comfortable and secure in my dress and that I felt totally beautiful. She shortened the straps, adjusted the cups, added a belt and bustle and steamed my dress and veil ready for the big day. I couldn't speak more highly about all the staff here. Thank you all!

Well after a disastrous time going down the road of having a dress made, which was very stressful and I lost a lot of money, I was so deflated. I also had tried so many dresses (over 40) in other shops in Edinburgh and they did not have what I wanted. I was time after time put in dresses I did not like. I do not know why I had not tried Emma Roy before all this happened. They literally saved the dress hunt for me. I enjoyed every second of my time with Emma Roy. The dress I was looking for was a fitted simple design (I was amazed at how many shops just did not have his style) with a detachable overskirt. From the moment I went to Emma Roy and explained the awful year I had had trying to find a dress (time was ticking as or day grew nearer) and having one made they could not have done more for me. The shop was quite busy at the time, (pre covid) but this did not stop me feeling like I had the attention and focus on me that I wanted. The ladies in the shop were so helpful. The dress I found, it did not look much on the hanger, but once on wow. I was hooked, I tried on more just to be sure and I kept comparing every dress to the one I loved. That sealed the deal. The ladies were so so helpful through covid times making sure my dress was delivered on time, I got my dress around 2 before we got married, just in time. The last fitting was wonderful. Everything was perfect. I wish I could do it all over again. I will definitely be going back to Emma roy once we renew our vows in years to come. I luckily get to wear my dress agin in 2022 for our belated wedding party. :) Thank you Emma Roy for shining a light on what was a disastrous year of looking for a dress, you turned this around for me, and I now have wonderful memories of looking for a dress with you. xx

I had a great experience visiting Emma Roy boutique. The only challenge in my experience was that I was short in time, and wanted to find a sample gown that I would like and be my size. I wanted to especially thank Shona for her efforts with me throughout the appointment, and for following up with me the following day right away. Last weekend I found my dream wedding dress at Emma Roy. I had been a few weeks ago for my first wedding dress appointment with Amy. From start to finish, Amy could not have done more to help me. She made me feel at ease and helped me find the style of dress I was looking for. Her attention to detail was phenomenal and we really learnt a lot about different styles and designers. When I returned last weekend, once again, Amy went above and beyond to help me find the perfect dress. She picked out dresses that incorporated everything I was hoping to find in my dress. I could not be more delighted to have bought my dress at Emma Roy and I truly could not recommend the service enough. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish and I cannot wait to go back and look at accessories now! Emma Roy and all the staff are utterly wonderful! As a 'more than average' sized bride' (size 24) I felt completely relaxed and completely at home. I am not afraid of my body and extremely happy in my own skin and I have to disagree with a previous review for a larger sized bride. From the moment I walked through the door I was welcomed and immediately felt special, as any bride to be, would wish to be. Amy, my consultant was attentive, possessed a great sense of fun and has an utterly innate understanding of what dresses will suit. Lots of fun, laughter and smiles later and Amy nailed my dress choice on the first attempt! I could not be more happier and I woud recommend Emma Roy to anyone! As to the dress choices, there were a wide variety of dresses and styles for me to try on. A huge bravo to the entire team as their hard work and dedication shine through!

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Emma Roy. Vic was amazing; she was my cheerleader throughout the whole appointment! I’m a curvy bride so was anxious about fitting into sample dresses. Vic instinctively knew, took me to one side and said she wouldn’t put me in a dress that didn’t fit or one I felt uncomfortable in. She instantly made me feel at ease and I had the best appointment. We tried on several dresses, working out which part of each I liked the most. At one point I don’t think Vic or myself thought I’d find the one but persistence paid off! I’m over the moon with the dress I chose and I’m so grateful to all the ladies there on Sunday for making it an amazing experience, I can’t thank them enough 💜

I couldn't have asked for more from my experience at Emma Roy. I can't recommend assistant Amy enough. She started by asking me what look I was going for and price range (noting she would not let me try any dress on that was over my budget). She knew all the dresses as if they were people...... every name, detail, style. When trying dresses on and hearing what I liked or didn't like about each she came up with suggestions of different dresses to try. When I found one I really liked she made me transform it into the one I loved. She let me see the bespoke alteration options and play about with all the different buttons, lace and sheer overlays. Before fully committing to the dress Amy said she would contact the dress designer and see if my personal changes were possible and how much they would cost. She called me the morning of the following working day. I really couldn't have asked for more. I can't wait to go back in a few months and try on MY dress and see everything come to life. Thank you Amy and Emma Roy.

Had a fantastic experience at Emma Roy, despite it only being the second week of them being open post-lockdown. There are so many dresses to choose from. Amy made the whole experience so special and listened to everything I said and picked out my perfect dress, she went above and beyond to get exactly what I wanted and to get a veil to match. Had a fantastic experience at Emma Roy! Charlotte was amazing so helpful and patient. Can't believe I managed to find my dress in first shop. Loads of dresses to choose from. Nothing seemed to much hassle or that I was being to fussy. Definitely recommend and so nice that I was able to collect and try dress on again few days later!

Beautiful dresses, lovely shop, friendly and helpful staff. The wonderful girl we had helping us was full of ideas and could not have been more helpful. She had a really good knowledge of the products and clipped the dresses in really well so that I could get an idea of what they would look like fitted. They even squeezed me in inbetween appointments to try on my favourite 2 dresses when I returned later in the day to make sure I'd made the right choice. I had been to a different shop in the afternoon and was so disappointed with the service I had received compared to Emma Roy. I live in Switzerland and they could not be more helpful and accommodating, even offering me a one day fitting session for my dress a week before my wedding! If you're a bride-to-be please, please, PLEASE visit this shop and ask for Christine :-)

Everyone in Emma Roy of Edinburgh were spectacular. I was in a time crunch, but found a dress that was perfect for my wedding day. From trying things on right through to collecting my dress. I could not have asked for a better experience. Mhairi not only helped me find my dress, but gave me some great advice for the wedding. I am genuinely sad that I don't have another reason to keep visiting because everyone was so lovely!

Experienced fantastic customer service at Emma Roy and a fabulous collection of dresses. My sister (the bride) and I (the bridesmaid) both found gorgeous dresses with reasonable price tags. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming to our party of 5 treating us all to a glass of fizz and allowing us to choose and try on as many dresses as we liked. We didn't feel pressured. We didn't feel rushed. It was a really lovely experience which was in stark contrast to our horrible experience earlier in the day at Kavelle!

When I first walked into the store I was very nervous as it was my first time walking around Edinburgh choosing dress shops. I had always saw Emma Roy when I was walking around in town and longed to go in. I was welcomed very warmly even though I didn't have an appointment a very nice lady still took us (me and my mum) downstairs to the wedding dress department. The layout was beautiful and the room felt warm and comforting the mirrors and couches were stunning. She explained the rails and left us to it. After searching I found a dress that I died for and just HAD to try on. We went upstairs to the reception and chanced our arm! The woman behind the desk was very nice and phoned every bride who had an appointment to see if we could be squeezed in due to any cancellations! We waited until she phoned every bride (who were all coming). Luckily for us the bride that was in when we arrived left early so one of the staff members fitted me in quickly! the dress was gorgeous and I even had two staff members helping me telling me how beautiful I looked and giving me accessory suggestions! The customer service made my day and I even booked another appointment for alter on in the month. Loved Emma Roy will recommend to anyone!

The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, they are great with their communication also (when the dress arrives). We were very pleased with the pricing, it is very fair and the lady that looked after me showed me dresses within my price range rather than making me feel I had to spend more. I have just bought my wedding dress from Emma Roy after months of looking! I cannot recommend the staff at Emma Roy highly enough, especially the wonderful Lorraine. Lorraine has been so kind and accommodating...and patient! I lost count of the number of times I emailed Lorraine about different dresses and she never failed to get back to me. She helped me find the exact dress I was looking for...in fact she directed me towards what I wanted , before I even knew what I wanted! Any question I had, she had the answer or could offer great advice. I may now hold the record for the most appointments that any one bride-to-be has had at Emma Roy! Never once did Lorraine or the other staff members make me feel like I was a nuisance. They gave me a warm welcome every time I visited and made my mum and mother-in-law to be very welcome too. Emma Roy has a great team who all know their stuff and made me feel so special, which is what it’s all about. Thank you so much Lorraine.

I can't thank you enough, you made my family feel at ease and heard yet you knew I didn't want any of what they had suggested haha. Brilliant experience today at Emma Roy. Arrived there after a terrible appointment at Kavelle and the customer service was amazing, couldnt have been more different. We walked in without an appointment and they were so accommodating and friendly. I tried on 5 beautiful dresses in 20 mins as we were rushing off for lunch and one of the consultants even pulled a dress I'd seriously consider for my big day. The selection of dresses was amazing and the store itself is beautiful. One of the sales girls even stayed and chatted to my mum while I was trying on dresses making it a lovely experience for her too. I will definitely be returning closer to my wedding date to try and find that perfect dress.

If you know what you are looking for and are happy to be transactional about it, they have a good range, fair prices and very friendly staff, and for this it is absolutely fine...but do not make this your first appointment, especially if you are looking for "the dress experience". It's like a cattle-market - every woman for herself! I would have been a wreck if I hadn't been to lots of shops already. As it was, I took care of myself. Fine if you are ready to buy and know exactly what you want. Bring a friend to help you!

Amazing choice of dresses, I have been to several bridal shops and Emma Roy had the perfect dress for me, my wedding dress arrived Feb the 13th it was perfect I was due to get married August 19th 2017 but unfortunately my fiancé died in a tragic car accident Feb the 19th. Forever heart broken, but thank you all so much for everything I've been in the shop 5 times or so. All th staff have been amazing and so attentive. My dad will be picking up my wedding dress tomorrow and I will frame it. Forever in my heart. Such a beautiful dress ❤️

The selection of gowns the best I have ever seen. Knowledgeable and helpful staff who guided me towards the perfect gown and I am so happy with the service throughout. The service is carried right through from buying the gown to a cleaning service at the end. It is a busy shop but there is a reason for that. they have been there for more than 30 years and are the best bridal shop I visited.
