Reviews of Ipswich Regent Theatre
D. W.
Nice theatre with good view of the stage, and decent sound. We saw Tim Peake speaking, and really enjoyed his show. The theatre handled the visuals well.
My only minor gripe is that I am tall, and the seats don't give much leg room.
R. I.
The place was clean and well kept. Staff where well presented, friendly and knowledgeable. Our experience watching Sarah Millican went without hitch. The staff and team ensured communication to ensure no customer was left unattended to. Great evening! We sat in P20+21 in the photos shown out view wasn't impeded by anyone in front and got a great view of sarah 😀
T. E.
Such a lovely theatre, not too packed in. Lots of entrance and exit points. Really good view from our seats (stalls row Q, seat 11) on looking around, most of the seats have a good view. Really want to find out how you book a box as they look fab!! Brilliant night watching Joe lycett and Sarah keyworth both hilarious! Thanks
s.
Beautiful restored theatre in Melbourne - one of the best theaters I've ever been to. Nice staff at the box office fixed up my ticketmaster order error.
T. B.
Wow - such a lovely local Theatre with the BIG shows. Staff go out of their way to help. Clean, airy and very accommodating venue. We loved it and can't wait to return again 😊
G. H.
What a great venue. Saw Rumours of Fleetwood Mac who were absolutely brilliant! Seats very comfortable, the whole place is very well decorated, clean & staff friendly. Would deff recommend going there to see acts& will be returning again.
G. H.
We had a fantastic night at The Regent Theatre. Great venue, easy parking
M. W.
Went to see Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.
Very good show. Sat row H 1&2. Slight blocking of one of the band members, due to the positioning of sound equipment. (they just needed placing a bit further back). Shame really. You would think that those kind of things would be checked before the show 🤔
S. M.
A great little theatre. Very well staffed who were super helpful. We had a box which was lovely and as spacious as a box can be! One small issue was that there are 2 gents toilet which are only accessible in the auditorium and only had one cubicle. But overall a theatre I would use again.
l.
I watch “we will rock you”, what a fantastic show. The theatre is a lovely old building as you would expect, really nice inside huge high ceilings, plenty of toilets for the gents so I didn’t have to cue at the intermission.
Drink selection is a bit small and the prices are pretty expensive that’s the two negatives, would happily return to watch other shows though!
D. L.
This is a large Theatre with plenty of seating. Parking is nearby and cheap of an evening. We went to see the fabulous Hollies in concert and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only negative comment I can make is regarding our view from the front row of the Circle. We always try and pick the front row of the Circle at any theatre to both get a good view without the risk of sitting behind a very tall person, or having people deciding to stand up and dance in front of us. However the balcony rail here is quite tall and the seats quite low. I'm 5ft 10" tall and could only just see the front of the stage. My wife at 5ft 6" couldn't see the front half of the stage at all, so beware of choosing the front row unless you are quite tall. Not had this issue at any other theatre we have been to.
R. H.
I arrived late, parking and one-way system challenging for a first timer. Great theatre venue, sat in circle, relatively comfortable, if you are a six footer, maybe get an Isle seat.
The show was Brydon, Mack and Mitchell. They all had something different to share which made for a good show. Its quite an audience participation production and there were some great contributions from the public. Some might say the funniest of the night but I couldn't possibly comment!
P. P.
Watched Elvis Costello and The Imposters perform here - well organised event with good stewardship and management. Venue is well established for a very long time. Elvis and band were in excellent form and delivered an energetic and varied set from their huge back catalogue. Shame about the PA system with the vocals far too low in the mix..... took the edge a great evening.
D. M.
Great resource for Ipswich. Plenty of big acts and shows play here. Small car park nearby or side street parking if full. Good view from all seats in the theatre. As ever, the loo arrangements can be time consuming particularly for the ladies. The upstairs bar too can get very crowded and slow. Staff however are lovely. Enjoy!
D. O.
Watched we will rock you last week
The show was good but the heat in the theatre was unbearable! I couldn't enjoy the show to its full potential because all I could think about was how hot I was.
Then there was an interval, perfect time to grab a cold drink and use the toilet, what a nightmare, queues everywhere for everything! I only just made it back to my seat for the second half of the show.
Not an enjoyable evening at all
S. S. (.
Finally managed to see "We Will Rock You", booked pre-Covid, twice deferred.
Well worth the wait.
So lucky to have a local facility such as this.
R. C.
Lovely little theatre. Roomy seats and nicely spaced out. Easy to find and car parks near by. Helpful, pleasant staff. Nice sized bar and quick service.
Wheelchair access is available and there are a few steps up into the theatre but once those are done, if you have booked stall seats, you are step free.
Only 1 disability toilet downstairs which is a shame as you have to queue longer but it was clean and spacious. The normal toilets are low but can push up using cubicle walls.
Definitely recommend and oh, the show was fabulous too! Burn The Floor 25th Anniversay show, brilliant time had by all :-)
R. T.
Convenient venue for a wide range of music and theatre productions. Comfortable theatre seats and decent views from all seats. The refreshments section can get very busy and crowded. Bar prices average I felt. Staff very pleasant. Queues for the toilets can be frustrating and the facilities are limited for a venue of this size. The show we saw was Lee Mack, Rob Brydon and David Mitchell Road trip. Pricey tickets at £42 a pop and in truth, not at all funny material. A money maker for the trio however. Mostly tired old repartee relying on the somewhat subdued audience for material. Its not WILTY in any shape or form! I've more laughs at the dentist. The 4 stars are for the venue. 1 star for entertainment!
g.
Very comfortable seats. Good facilities……….& Elvis Costello was terrific!
J. C.
A very well aired environment. Very cool despite extremely hot weather outside. Great selection of drinks and snacks. Comfortable seats and great view of the stage!
C. S.
Beautiful theatre with friendly staff who often genuinely have an interest about the show that is performing on the night. Clean theatre, toilets and bar with a wide range of drinks and snacks for any show! Xx
F. M.
It was my first time in Regent Theatre and it wasn't great. Not the show. We were planning to have something to bite before the show but they don't have anything in the theatre itself. Apart from 2 chinese, there was not much around. The area didn't feel safe at all. The theatre itself is ok. Only one visible toilets for the upstairs which means long qeuing for the women. But the killer was the heat!! It was so hot. The weather had nothing to do with it as it was only 19 degrees outside! I almost left being so hot!! Not a nice experience even though Sarah Millican was great!!!
J. M.
It very enjoyable evening and good show John. Moyes
a. d.
Disappointing performance from the Would I Lie To You team. They didn't have an act or a script, but relied on topics submitted by or shouted out by members of the audience and using a few swear words. The second half was funnier as it was marginally more prepared, but not a lot. Either it was a cynically lazy money making exercise by three very talented people, or they normally have access to some very talented scriptwriters.
S. H.
Great venue, been there many times. Friendly staff always worth a visit.
W. C.
Best Theatre In East Anglia. With amazing, friendly staff and great facilities the Regent Theatre has it all. There is always shows to see wherever being a touring musical to a band or play, they are all great. The annual pantomime has really improved whist the nature of the building is just amazing as you walk though the vomitory into the beautiful, blue theatre. Comfortable Seats and a great bar for food and drink, Its a great way to experience live entertainment.
y. l.
Not too bad a place to visit but on a main road difficult to be picked up and dropped off definitely needs a refurb though only 2 toilet cubicles water pipes covered In black mould toilet seats falling off needs a lick of paint as well
G. W.
Great experience! Easy to get to from the train station, friendly staff. Only downside I we were told we could take a bottle of wine into auditorium at the bar but this was not the case so had to leave it behind the bar and had to come out to top up.
C. S.
80s live gig was such good fun! We had a box with friends and danced and sang the night away! A lovely venue but thought the drinks were pricey. £14.60 for 2 ciders and a lager 😬
L. F.
Always great to visit and support our local theatre. Bit cramped at the front and facilities / loos could do with a refresh. All said, much better to enjoy a more intimate concert experience and come here than going to O2.
S. a. A. B.
A great venue for live music. Only 1500 seats which makes for a great atmosphere. Audiences always tend to be enthusiastic and its generally a full house.
A. D.
Came to see Rupauls drag race UK season 2 tour and it was fantastic!! The theatre is lovely, nice cool breeze at times and great views. Staff super friendly and helpful.
D. M.
Great venue for our local town. Comfy enough seats, prices for drinks and food not too high. Good size venue.
D. M.
A great venue with a variety of acts and shows on throughout the year. Parking anywhere near the venue is an absolute nightmare, so plan ahead. The show (We will rock you) was amazing.
J. R.
Great venue to see live acts and theatre, always enjoy a visit.
Our recent visit was to see "Animal Farm" what a brilliant production (if a tad terrifying at times), well done to all the staff and actors involved.
D. B.
Purchasing tickets is easy in person or online, the staff are super nice and very helpful and facilities are good. Thoroughly enjoyed the show.
I. W.
A splendid theatre with extremely friendly staff. Tony Hadley gave a GOLD standard performance and its ONLY WHEN YOU LEAVE that you realise we all had a great night at a wonderful venue. TrUE.
C. H.
We saw Joe Lycett at the theatre. It was really clean, the staff were friendly and we enjoyed our box thoroughly. We are actively looking for more shows to be able to go again!
c. i.
Slightly tired and dated, but still a great place to go.
Fab friendly staff.
M. M.
Only issue we had was when booking, we were making a group booking and the correspondence was not good but we eventually made it.
From the moment we arrived it was excellent, the staff were amazing very polite, helpful and friendly. Loved the show. What an amazing experience. Thankyou all at the theatre
L. B.
Great theatre and great show.
Staff really welcoming and friendly.
Value for money too.
D. D.
A great night, & a lovely theatre.
Mens toilets were a bit steep to get too, so if you have walking issues be careful.
P. G.
All very good apart from inadequate toilet provision which is presumably just down to the age of the building. Staff all pleasant and helpful.
L. W.
Can't fault them organised, friendly, helpful and catered for my partner who's in a wheelchair very well we dint feel like we were to much trouble we felt quite special actually! Thank you so much for that ❤️
S. M.
Excellent show, comfy seats with good view. West End show at good price. Only shame was no Sheila Ferguson but understudy was great.
R. G.
Very nice theatre, generous seats and excellent sight lines, we will look out for more shows there in the future.
B.
Such a lovely venue great staff, clean tidy. Good selection of drinks wasn't over priced
Where ever you sit your venue of the stage is great
P. W.
Great venue, fully refurbished, very helpful and friendly staff, good facilities. Shame that Paul Young's voice was totally shot and so the gig itself was very disappointing!
j. w.
Great venue, well staffed, even the exit after the concert was painless!
Divine Comedy were fantastic! Thanks Neil!
T. B.
Loved it, very comfy seats and a beautiful old venue. We saw the Bootleg Beatles there and it was brilliant.
N. R.
Beautiful theatre, small enough to feel more personal than a london theatre but big enough to not feel suffocated. Lovely staff and general all round great time
L. S.
I Saw Level 42, Mark King and Mike lindup plus the rest of the band. I have wanted to see him for over 40 years, he gave me his green (slap base) thumb protector and a play list after the show. Thanks Mark you made my year. All the Staff where fantastic great night. Very good disabled facilities. I was in the very front row in my wheel chair. 5 Stars Thanks again to all the Staff at the Ipswich Regent
T. C.
I went to see the big show, it was fantastic. Its a pity that the toilet are so out dated and disgusting. They have been like that for about 45 years.
H. W.
We were at the regent on saturday and again last night , great shows ! Just booked again for soul sisters in may so really looking forward to that , going to the panto at easter as well!
V. O.
Great afternoon, Diversity were brilliant as expected
S. O.
Fantastic local venue, we saw Brydon, Mitchel and Mack. Venue is contactless payment except for ice creams during the interval so take some cash with you :)
A. C.
A good size theatre with good views. We recently watched comedy from the balcony, row C, and the view and sound was good. I quickly checked row A and B and the stage was partly covered, so unless you are tall, I suggest row C or higher in the balcony.
Also watched music from the stalls, row F, with a fabulous view (lucky that the seat in front was empty). The stalls are tiered, providing a good view of the stage.
Note - Like all theatres, there’s never enough bathrooms for the time available in the break.
There’s a nice little pub on the corner next to the theatre.
m. a.
Been here many times for concerts and comedy. Comfortable seats, good view from all stall seats. Several bars selling Carlesberg and Adnams Ghost Ship. Not a very good choice of wine, pretty standard for a theatre..
C. C.
My wife and I saw Romeo and Juliet performed by the State Ballet of Siberia. The show was simply magnificent, the theatre staff couldn't have been more helpful, a security guard even helped us with parking advice. A superb performance, in a lovely theatre with helpful, friendly staff. What more can you ask? It was also amazing being back in a theatre watching a live show again. We will definitely be back.
C. R.
The Regent is such a traditional theatre, staff were extremely helpful comfy seats and good facilities.
k. S.
Fantastic place never been to Ipswich or the theatre but had a wicked time.... definitely worth a visit ☺ parking after 8pm was free so even better
A. M.
Saw The Hollies here, huge capacity seating and enjoyable evening spoilt slightly by the unorganised bottleneck when leaving causing some crowd crushing at hot spots, shame all exits weren't open
O. W.
Third time here and it's our go to outside of London. The theatre hosts a variety of different shows so there is definitely an option for everyone. From Nigella Lawson to Alan Carr, Blood Brother to Chicago - a veritable feast is on offer. The theatre has plenty of seating (all with good views) and is always clean and tidy. Dropped a star as I feel there bar offerings are a little limited...the menu isn't always spot on. However, it's not about the bar but the show so definitely worth booking tickets for a night out!
D. M.
I've been here twice in the last month and both times have been great. It's a good venue that attracts great talent and I look forward to returning. Its in a perfect location, and is always big enough so you can get a seat.
j. g.
Saw Chicago at the Regent 2 days ago and loved it - seats are comfortable but it can get a bit chilly when air con kicks in so even on a hot day I'd suggest taking something to cover your arms/shoulders - like most venues there just aren't enough ladies ĺoos so often a long queue - the musical itself was very good and on par with the one I saw in London a few years back
S. W.
All my experiences at the theatre are brilliant. Amazing for the family, 10/10
k. i.
Went to see Amy Macdonald with supporting act Callum Beattie. My First concert and best night ever.
c. g.
Went to Giants of soul show. Worth 10x the price of tickets. Great show, great night out
D. S.
Lovely theatre. Lots of staff good vibe watching James Martin. One minus You Could not buy a coffee/tea at the bar upstairs.
c. y.
Went to see Chicago and it was amazing had seats that were two from the end on the right about 6 rows back and could see everything. Seeing as these tickets were some of the cheaper ones I was impressed with the view.
K. Y.
Excellent venue , great atmosphere, plenty of car parking within a few minutes walk
B. M.
Great evening, very friendly staff. Good views
M. E.
Really nice intimate little venue that has huge variety to see throughout the year, two recent visits thoroughly enjoyed and lots more planned later this year
d. k.
Great place to watch a show .Good views all round, easy access and easy to navigate. Good refreshment availability
P. H.
Really cool old style theatre of course it has issues with queues like every theatre but it feels like going back in time (in a good way) to the hay-day of theatre
R. E.
Loved the show and the staff were wonderful. An engaging young lady behind the bar. She was a joy to meet
A. P.
Absolutely fantastic little theatre with good access and amenities. Nice and clean and a great night out.
M. H.
A great local Theatre. Seating and boxes are good to average. Well stocked bars at reasonable prices. There is a ticket office manned for purchases or ticket collection though check times for manning. Good seats are booked up very quickly.
T. R.
Really enjoyed seeing The Shires brilliant show.just please put a lift in so disabled people can get about.
L. H.
Lovely theatre, not too big so seats in circle still offer a good view.
F. W.
Great experience! Saw Aussie Floyd, followed by Al Murray the next day. Staff were great, shows were great, pricing was fair, though alcohol was a bit dear.
M. B.
Very good venue. Attended a performance of Remembering the Oscars, and had a really enjoyable evening in a lovely theatre.
N. S.
Great venue. Not too big, so helps create an intimate feel even if towards the back
B. M.
Elvis Tribute World Tour was brilliant at the Regent. Had a great time. Theatre was organised, we ordered interval drinks which was good. Great evening!
M. M.
It's a nice enough theatre. The theatre inside is nice and spacious with comfy seats and a large stage.
We have gone here now 4 times to watch comedians and everytime has been different.
There is a very small carpark near to the theatre that's not bad price-wise or there is a bigger carpark not to far away that will sting you for money!
The bar in the theatre definitely needs a make-over, it's not welcoming nor it is comfy. The staff seem miserable everytime we have visited and the toilets aren't overly clean.
Rhod Gilbert was the most recent show we have seen here.
J. M.
Great staff comfy seats.
Tony Hadley was amazing.
A True Gold star
S. L.
Have lived in Ipswich all my life and it's great to have such a lovely theatre in town. Just wish the seats were a bit bigger.
S. W.
Look guys, I love the venue and have visited many times but please sort the ticketing out on your website. Have found it impossible to book 1, 2 or 3 tickets to an event this morning, with each options taking me all the way through only to be told that my selections leave one single seat so I have to try again. This cannot be the case and it's extremely frustrating
J. H.
We will Rock you great show good atmosphere friendly staff drinks not expensive
G. S.
This place is what it is a good place to watch bands and such . Easy parking near by . But check the chargers as some are very extreme . Bar was easy plenty of staff not a long wait .
L. W.
Attended a Whitney Houston tribute this week . It was really good to be out and listening to live music. Staff are very helpful and welcoming.
Nothing to do with the theatre but there were some inconsiderate women who behaved stupidly and ruined some people's evening!! Especially the woman who ruined the main song with her drunken outburst.
M. P. (.
Great night out. Sarah Milligan hilarious 😂 😃 😄
s. l.
Fantastic views need more leg room with the chairs they are very comfortable to sit in but not much leg room had a thoroughly good night tho at the king of pop show
M. L.
Great venue! We went to see Amy Macdonald and the staff were quite friendly (although the security guards got told off by Amy for telling people to stay in their seats - I felt quite bad for them though as they seem to have been misinformed). Otherwise the show went really smoothly and everyone enjoyed themselves!
U. M.
Bootleg Beatles were very good. The theatre is smashing. Definitely recommend both!
g. b.
Joe lycett gig was very funny, the venue was very clean but just a bit too warm.
J. B.
Brilliant Panto. Went to final performance . Laughs throughout the show. Would recommend. We were in row I 20 and 19. This is our view.
J. S.
Great theatre, run very well, next to no queuing. Joe Lycett was brilliant.
A. H.
Great venue, loads of parking nearby and the bar was very reasonably priced.
A. F.
A really good local venue. Drinks a d snacks available too. Sears pretty comfortable.
G. S.
Great evening watching Snow Patrol at my local venue. Brilliant service as always.
K. S.
Lovely place for an evening event
P. C.
Nice seats; great show!
C. M.
Went to see Derren Brown - Underground. Can't tell you anything about the gig it's a secret just go watch it!. (It was amazing) Venue was brilliant, drinks were priced well. Clean and tidy. Go see his show! I wasn't hypnotised to write this!
Enjoy.
M. B.
Good sized venue for gigs. Nearby pay and display car park is good value.
L. M.
A classic venue. Intimate, enjoyable and in a good location. Ample parking nearby.
j. m.
Great revamp. 2nd show seen in last 2 yrs. Excellent staff. Very helpful and pleasent. Looking forward to Derrin Brown next.
t. m.
I have enjoyed many shows at The Regent Theatre. It is a lovely building, always very clean and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. I would recommend a visit to one of their shows
S. S.
Great to have the panto back!! Especially having Nic Westaway as Aladin
A. P.
Front row seats to see Amy Macdonald, she was five stars, she did the Regent proud. Even more so once the security had chilled a bit. Fancy stopping people from standing and dancing at a concert, well done Amy for putting things right. Knocked a star off for that, other than that nice intimate venue.
L. C.
Always love going to the regent, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Great night out - picture,me with Mike Mcclean, always love it when they are willing to meet you after.
M. B.
The Regent was brilliant. Very will run!
E. D.
Me and my partner both suffer with severe anxiety and crowds. We have been together 8 months and not been on a date. Mainly due to coronavirus but also because we need a comfortable place to go to that isn't too packed.
We saw that Ross was in Ipswich and we both really love him. I've never been to a live show and my partner has only been to one.
We checked the seats and found some free ones near the Isle so we wouldn't be bunched in by people.
On the night we arrived about 7.30. Show started at 8.00pm. It was quite busy and we both panicked a little. But went in and got a drink. My partner had Jack and coke. The prices were fair. I was expecting worse!.
We were worried about where the toilets might be but they were in an easy place to find just opposite where you go into the theatre.
The ladies toilets were very clean and tidy.
Went in and found our seat. There isn't a lot of leg room if you have long legs, but that wasn't too much of an issue being on the end of the row.
It was a tiny bit hard for my partner to see at times due to a person's head infront but other than that the show was really enjoyable.
The staff were very pleasant and when being seated they helped everyone by finding their seats. We found this extremely comforting because going to busy place can be nerving if you can't find where to sit so having someone there showing you where to go is very nice.
You were able to take drinks and food in from the bar. Including pints and other alcohol. This is a nice touch for people who drink.
When leaving the show the staff were ready with rubbish bags to clear up.
There is a car park just 2 minutes away behind the theatre but it only has say about 50 ish spots so you might want to get there a little early.
This was our first date and I loved it. We will be going back at some point.
J. K.
My first visit. I. Always apprehensive of new places and was delighted by the welcoming staff. Everyone was really helpful and friendly. Good space inside and decent seats. Apparently it holds 1561 people!
B. E.
Fantastic, fabulous night with my brother & sister-in-law watching the Hollies..
A. H.
Fantastic, great panto, great cast, and great team running theatre
D. H.
Great venue. Don't think there's a bad seat in thr house.
S. K.
Chicago, really very good, saw this show in London a few years ago and this was every bit as good. The cast were excellent.
A. C.
Brilliant show- Burn the Floor. Our seats were in a great position to see the stage clearly. Well organised being Covid aware.
P. L.
Just been to see Chicago. Brilliant show. Staff helpful and friendly as always.
M. S.
I love this venue, I've seen a good few artists here and sat in different seats each time, I've never had a bad seat, where ever you sit is a good view. No doubt I'll be back.
D. B.
Well managed and plenty of staff to help.
T. D.
Nice place, dated in parts.
Nice venue staff , nice seats in the auditorium.
A good venue to see or work a show.
Few backstage wonders to look forward to.
S. J.
Watched meatloaf here, what a lovely place to come. Will be coming back in December.
G. R.
The Ipswich Regent is amazing. The theatre is great and the staff wonderful.
j. v. n.
Think the staff are bit ott about people who just trying to enjoy a night out
L. B.
Staff, very attentive and accommodating. An excellent experience. Thank you.
N. C.
What an amazing afternoon! Went to see the wizard of oz. Excellent performance 👏
R. B.
We all had a great time watching Chicago! A brilliant show.
L. B.
Great gig by The Divine Comedy at a lovely old theatre!
S. S.
Fantastic venue for hosting the weird and wonderful Russell.
L. J.
Visited recently to see Paul Carrack. Excellent show, well organised entry procedures , covid restrictions kept to a minimum , singing and dancing allowed and beverages allowed in the auditorium. All round excellent evening.
G. T.
Well organised, excellent sound lovely theatre.
S. B.
Order at seat QR codes would be a nice additional extra tk keep up with some of the bigger theatres. Great show and comfortable seats.
G. A.
Great venue for a great variety of shows that the Regent always put on here
D. E.
Went to see Aladdin . What a brilliant show and so much fun . Well worth seing though the price was abit steep, £25 for adults and also children which was alot for a child ticket .
S. C.
Would have given 5 stars 🌟 except it was so cold in the theatre 🎥. Air blowing cold air all through the shoe, myself and others wrapped in our coats it was too cold. The show Fascinating Aida excellent.
S. M.
Great venue. Drinks quite pricey but good selection
R. M.
I love this theatre, they have great shows at a great price, often well known artists and West End Shows at a fraction of the usual cost. You get a really good view from wherever you are seated because it is not that big inside. The seats are quite small but it's an old theatre so to be expected. It's easy to get bar service for refreshments on arrival pre-show. Sound is good, temperature is good. Toilets and bar are busy at intervals but that is typical for any venue. The ticket office staff are very pleasant and helpful plus they have friendly floor staff. Parking nearby is the only slight issue as the council owned car park to the rear of the theatre is very small and nearly always full no matter how early you arrive and not at all easy to back out of with a stream of cars behind you. The other nearby car parks hike their prices right up to £10 for the evening (nice little earner for the council there!), but that is no fault of the venue of course. I have visited a few times now and have always had a great time :)
R. W.
Tired, cramped venue, but about the best Ipswich has to offer in terms of entertainment.
S. C.
Such a great venue to see live music
J.
Great view from the private box for 4 just as usual at theatres long queues for bar and ladies toilets
J. S.
Really nice venue, first visit but will definitely go again.
L.
Nice selection at the bar. Theatre is great and facilities are nice.
S. F.
Place is lovely and clean, friendly staff, not much waiting time at bar, had a lovely night out
M. G.
Simply excellent evening.
John Bishop with a great support act.
Great venue for entertainment in Ipswich with a very good team of staff looking after everyone, thank you.
R. W.
A fantastic theatre with great seats!
D. E.
Excellent venue we went to see Jimmy Carr, everything was well organised, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Great venue and fabulous night with Tony Hadley

I went to see Fisher man's friends on Saturday evening wow it was great absolute 💯 loved 😍them had a good view it wasn't full but had a good night if they ever came back to Ipswich I would definitely see them again
C. L.
Lovely theatre, great to see The Hollies
J. W.
Saw my hero, Paul Jones. The performance was faultless. All musicians spot on! Saw them in Clacton a few years ago. Amazing.
r. d.
Always a pleasure to go here to watch shows. Comfy seats, good view of stage, good sound and great staff.
T. C.
Love the intimacy of this venue but the seats are so small & too close to the next person. One toilet each for men/women & the queues are horrendous.Otherwise,a good venue.
M. M.
Quick service and friendly staff. What you expect from a typical weatherspoons.
P. S.
Staff all so friendly and nice atmosphere.
M. K.
Really enjoyed the place and show ..really nice theatre
V.
Have been here on a few occasions, mostly school trips. The auditorium is huge and magnificent. The seats are comfortable and stylish and the stage is enormous. There's always a great variety of plays and shows and I have mostly enjoyed the ones that I have seen.
The negative is that it is always very packed and noisy, therefore you have to squeeze through large crowds if people and transporting items can be a slight bother.
Overall a wonderful theatre with a wide variety of plays, wouldn't miss coming here if you're in town.
v. b.
Really nice theatre spacious seats
K. M.
Beautiful theatre, we watched frozen there. It was just amazing!
K. P.
Very good smart and excellent service seating very comfortable.
A. G.
We attended Jimmy Carr, and the staff were amazing!
Quick, friendly, and efficient!
What more could you ask! 👍
M. P.
Old world class, even if the show you watch isn't that good the theatre itself is worth the visit. A building of beauty. The staff are so friendly and helpful it comes as a welcome suprise. It can be quite cold some nights but if you want to see live music there are few places that equal the acoustics, the sound is incredible, so find a show and give the place a go. Oh, did I mention they have a bar as well.
K. C.
Lovely place, never enough toilets at break time though.
K. “. L.
Beautiful historic theatre. Large range of viewing options and good accessibility. Prices vary but are generally quite reasonable. On my visits here over the years, twice for stand up and various times for plays/panto, staff have always been polite and helpful. A good time to be had by all ages.
G. E.
Great shows.
Remember soul sister not sisters of soul.
Good story, looks like the girls produced the show themselves.
Something different.
S. T.
Watched tina Turner tribute which was so good the only thing that spoilt our evening was three women sitting in front of us that were drinking and talking all the way through the first half we were lucky enough to be able to move to other seats but the people who sat next to them couldn't or the the people next to us unfortunately we were all to polite to tell them to be quite 😓
S. R.
Great sandwich choice and always fab cakes
S. L.
A very enjoyable show at this Theatre. They offer a very professional service.
T. S.
Surprisingly pleasant, the recent performance was enjoying, everything clearly signposted, theatre staff were also friendly and helpful. Sound volume could have been a little lower and the overhead video screen had an incredibly annoying lag of nearly a second behind the voice.
Still worth a visit.
C. K.
Nice theatre. Good size with a pretty good view from most seats. I normally sit in the circle and have always been able to see everything clearly even tho' I never pay for the more expensive seats! The seats are reasonably comfortable and the leg room isn't too bad.
T. S.
The venue is nice enough for a small theatre but I found the customer service lacking.
I am physically disabled so was using a mobility scooter. The disabled access to the theatre is some sort of goods entrance. We had to ring a bell and wait to be let in by a member of staff. She gestured vaguely to where our box was then stood and watched as we went past it, found another staff member and were directed back to where the first lady was standing. She made a huffy comment about having told us where it was but we "sailed right past it." Now outside the entrance to our box I parked my scooter. The staff member said I couldn't leave it there, then asked my mother if I could walk a few paces. I find it incredibly rude and condescending when people ask someone else about something that I could answer myself. I answered yes and was told I had to leave my scooter where we went to originally, outside the disabled toilet. This meant that during the show other people left empty drinks cups on it and when I went to use the toilets an able bodied lady was using the scooter as a seat to wait to use the disabled toilet, which does not require a radar key.
During our visit I also purchased drinks at the bar and merchandise. Both of these staff members were also quite unfriendly, despite our attempts at idle chit chat while being served. The man selling merchandise even turned away to count, out loud, his remaining stock mid-transaction while I was speaking to him. I was the only customer at the time. I was also propped on my walking stick and would have appreciated speedy service.
There is no parking at the theatre and it took us a while to find a space, even for blue badge holders, nearby.
Overall I felt that the venue does not cater for people with mobility problems very well and that the staff I encountered did the bare minimum required. Compared to how I have been treated at other Theatres I was disappointed.
However, the box we had was a great way to see the show and gave direct access (down a few steps) to the foyer area housing the bar, toilets and info desk.
N. J.
Great evening, hardly anyone wearing a mask despite the email request to wear a face covering. Card only stated on email, but when we got there, the merchandise was cash only!
K. J.
Amazing night at the regent watching Ipswich 2, in aid of Each children's charity, 90k + was raised, an. Amazing show
G. B.
Fantastic venue and very reasonably priced show. We saw My Fair Lady and for an a mature production it was as good as any West end show I have been to. The sets and costumes were West end quality and in a small theatre... close seats were very affordable. They even offered a discount as we bought 10 tickets!
m. g.
Lovely theatre ... drinks pricey but most are !
B. K. m.
Ipswich is a large market town with a very good selection of shops cafes and bars, its steeped in history with several very large parks right in the town centre, Christchurch Park being probably the big with Christchurch mansion being a must on your visit, several ponds will amaze you with gold fish originally put in saving them and since grown to fill the main ponds uniqueness especially on a lovely summers day regards Billy mcnicholl
G. C.
Tim Peake, his very enthusiastic self, in person. Venue fine top of thegodsbut heard every word.
C. E.
A great theatre: friendly staff, comfy seats and a fab atmosphere.
A. E.
Great venue, brilliant show.
c. j.
They didn't seem to enforce the mask policy. Plenty of people without masks. Performance was mediocre venue is acceptable
G. L.
Great theatre in a very run down town
R. F.
A lovely regional theatre that has an amazing lineup. Have been the last three years for the panto and this is a well constructed show with good song and dance numbers.
The sound is good and and the view from most seats is also good
D. H.
Nice enough venue. Tends to book a good quality of comedians, but the rest of the bookings leave a little bit to be desired. Last show I saw from the circle, the sound could have been a little louder, but all in all a good night. Bar service is good enough, but drink quality not the best.
G. A.
Really enjoyed the evening. Bar service was really quick, really easy to find your seats assisted by very friendly staff. Thank you
W. B.
Really lovely theatre, first time I have been there and really impressed
G. S.
Sat in the circle upstairs - nice little bar up there prior to the show. It’s a shame the iconic ‘stalactite’ has gone from the ceiling, as I remember this from when I was little, back when the insides used to be red! Seats have been overhauled and are very comfy and good views of the stage front he third row back of the circle!
J. J.
Very helpful staff. My wife is profoundly deaf and likes to be as near to the front as possible so she can lip read the acts on stage. We are always accommodated without any fuss. Theatre is always clean and tidy and there is plenty of good parking nearby.
M. S.
Lovely to be out at the theatre again. Some more good shows coming up. Will be going again soon
P. M.
Nice venue and there's plenty of parking nearby. Bar service is incredibly slow though, which is a big problem when the slots to buy drinks are so short in intervals and before shows. When I went there were massive crowds at the two bars while three staff stood behind the soft drinks bar without any customers at all!
S. R.
I love the Regent. You are close enough to the stage to see everything even on the rear rows. The seats are quite comfortable with enough leg room for quite tall people like me. Only problem is the toilets, or the queues. A few more would be nice, especially the ladies' loos.
E. A.
The "Fishermans friends" were outstanding.
I am saddened each time I go to the Regent, as this once wonderful lady is tired and needs a facelift and plenty of tlc.
C. P.
Venue was clean and staff were friendly helpful and really nice . Enjoyed the overtones concert there
C. J.
Swan lake was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic.
The theatre staff are lovely. Very helpful and friendly. The theatre could do with a lick of paint in places, but very good viewing from comfortable seats.
E. A.
Nice theatre to see the Sarah Millican's show. If you are far from the stage and small like me, you won't see much of the show lol. Make sure you book in advance for seats close to the stage.
The bar was nice for the before and half time drinks. Lots of toilets inside which is quite nice. Quite clean as well.
We had a nice time there.
I. B.
Rhod Gilbert was awesome tonight John Bishop was on form last week highly recommend. Staff amazing.
D. W.
Host to many touring productions which is the attraction of this theatre to me. Parking good quite close by but not at the theatre itself. Inside the foyer is a reasonable size but the next section which leads to the entrances to the auditorium can get crowded. Seating area itself is large and well laid out.
M.
This is a great venue, not the biggest, but you can get lost in whatever show is in front of you, which I always think is a great indicator of how good a venue is. There are two bars which are open during most events, toilets inside and disabled access. Ticket prices are normally very reasonable and if there is something or someone I want to see I don't think twice about booking here.
M. G.
I'm physically disabled and the staff went above and beyond in order to help me have a great experience. Incredibly kind and helpful - I couldn't fault them!!
I would say, if an act is doing a meet and greet, that perhaps doing it upstairs isn't great as there is no lift for people who can't make the stairs. Or they could have at least figured out a plan before hand so that if they have to do an upstairs meet and greet there is something already in place for those that are disabled.
They managed to help me and were incredibly helpful but there was some confusion and rushing about as they didn't really have a plan in place. Other than that it was great!
C. S.
Large theatre but pretty basic inside. Comfy seats and a decent amount of leg room.
No where near enough toilets though so you have no chance of going during intermission & being back in time for the second half of a show.
A. W.
Lovely venue which stages a wide variety of acts/musicals etc, something for everyone. Good view of the stage from all areas.
E. G.
Lovely venue, limited parking near by so allow plenty of time. Toilets we a bit grubby but could have just been an 'off' day. Production was great and the staff were all very happy to help
J. A.
Lovely theatre and great staff to deal with when organising group/school bookings. Most seats have a good view but avoid the front row. Unfortunately the front row seats are so low that you have your view blocked (when sitting) by the stage itself.
G. R.
My wife and our daughters accompanied me to see hairspray a fantastic show Paul Hutton and Norman pace were absolutely hilarious
L. A.
A beautiful vintage styled theatre with a modern twist. Ticket prices vary from show to show and seat to seat so they are value foe money depending on your point of view and your seat choice. I have been many times but on this occasion we saw Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat which was awesome. My friends and I couldn't stop tapping our feet the whole way through!
The Regent is easy to get to but there isn't a car park so you have to park in town or down residential roads which can be a pain but worth it. The variety of shows, musicians and comedians they have there is fantastic with some really big names. They're is something for everyone!
t.
Brilliant venue let down by of all things the toilets specially for us with disabilities not one member of staff said there are disabled toilets on the ground level surely aeeng somebody with a stick and struggling to walk you might say oh sir there are other toilets you could used what a shame
toilets you can use
D. J.
Enjoyed our evening very much. From the easy access to the car park, to the friendliness of the staff, The venue looked nice too. The Bootleg Beatles were great! Coming back soon! 😊
M. H.
Fabulous Chicago Musical, Cast and Crew are Amazing.
S. U.
We visited to watch my daughter in a show. Lovely venue with a bar offering drinks and snacks/sweets.
S. W.
Excellent venue. Have loved it every time I've been. Always clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. Looking forward to my next visit in the future as it makes for a lovely night out.
P. S.
Good theatre, plenty of room! Need to get exit strategy right and not corall people to just 2 exits from the circle!
g. m.
The Regent is a small theatre so the view from any seat is good. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are a couple of bars, one of which is in the large foyer. So people tend to mill about there before going to their seats which creates a lovely atmosphere of expectation before the show. The programme is varied. From pantomime to ballet to comedians to pop stars. Something for everyone.
C. B.
Good venue & surprisingly reasonably-priced drinks!
Alan Carr very good 😺
S. B.
Went to see Status Quo,great evening
H. P.
Great venue and helpful staff shame people didn't follow the email of wearing masks until at seat at least
I. H.
Great shows, helpful staff 👍
S. F.
Good venue for a night out. Seating has clear view of the stage and plenty of legroom.
H. W.
Brilliant watched my granddaughter dancing there lots of lovely talented young people well organised
B.
Me and my partner attended the regent theatre to watch the TWOTI live show by willne & stephen trys. The show was brilliant.
The actual theatre was very nice, there was two bars as well as a small food stall fully equipped with staff. The seating was really comfortable and not cramord
C. M.
Jane McDonald was fantastic along with the dancers/singers and 5 piece band.
The Regent excelled in the seating (very comfortable, staggered so a good view) bar facilities and friendly helpful staff were also brilliant.
H. F.
Fantastic evening with Tim Peake. Excellent seats and Venue
P. C.
An evening with .....Harry rednapp....spot on brilliant evening
W. S.
A excellent night out every time I go. Staff are always kind friendly thoughtful and polite. I am disabled and I've never had any problems. More people should try a night out at at the theatre
V. D.
Good production of 'We Will Rock You'. Good visibility from anywhere in the theatre really. Limited toilets so long queues at interval but nothing you don't experience elsewhere. Small-ish bar so lengthy queues there too but again nothing out of the ordinary. I will be going again.
C. W.
Security were great, staff were helpful. Snack prices are extortionate but the show was brilliant
D. D.
The chairs are laid back and not particularly comfortable. Some tickets are wildly over priced which keeps people away. Music sounds good (Rumours of Fleetwood Mac an excellent example) but the acoustics often mean that speech is muffled and lost (Sunset Boulevard).
I enjoy the theatre visits but much prefer the Wolsey Theatre which gets 5☆ everyday of the week in my opinion.
D. K.
Fantastic show with Tony Blackburn, friendly staff, comfy seats and a great experience
E. W.
Fantastic show! Micheal Mcintyre.
S. C.
Always a pleasure. Staff helpful and pleasant. Venue is comfortable. Nice bar. Could do with a few more seats. But bigger then most London theatres.
T. B.
Great theatre. Airy, clean, good seating, bar and snacks, car parks nearby. 👍
T. “. B.
We saw a panto, Jack and the beanstalk, we even booked a box! Price was really good, Really easy to find, the production was fantastic and really funny and the kids loved it, the staff are really friendly, it's clean the only complaint would be that the box for 4 is small better for two really and needed a little table and maybe a floor light so you could see where you put things things!
Really looking forward to going again!
C. G.
Watched Kingdom Choir, and they were amazing. This place is well organised with friendly customer service. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the family to my right and behind me had practically bought a picnic with them and were chewing, rustling and stinking the place out the entire show! Then left most of their rubbish on the floor! Disgusting!
a. p.
Went for a singalong - The greatest showman. Loved the show. Main entrance area was a little haphazard could have done with some clearer signs to say where you needed to be just everyone stood around.
K. B.
Great place to watch a show.
I. Ģ.
A lovely old theatre the staff are very kind and helpful and actually show you to your seats not just point and leave you to it. Especially to disabled people. Seating is comfortable. It was my first time there so im not sure about parking there seem to be alot of car parks around but im not certain how far away they are from the theatre. I managed to get parked in a disabled bay just opposite which helped.
V. D.
Great place went last night to Tina Turner tribute found it very disappointing that after getting text to say you must wear mask at all times only a handful of us where wearing them .It was as though people didn’t care think people this virus is still out there .
D. O.
The only down side to seeing Russell Howard's show was the need to have cash as all the machines weren't working, shows the need for cash still exists. Great show, fine location seats weren't bad either front row top circle.
B. P.
Excellent show, a little bit dated theatre.
S. T.
Comfortable enough seating, but as cramped (legroom) as any other I guess. Plenty of help available, good show
c.
Great gig! But it was Thunder! So it would be. Nice old theatre... Always like it here, tickets not overpriced, staff friendly. Drinks expensive so take plenty of folding.
D. G.
Very nice theatre. If you're tall get aisle seats.
K. B.
Loved it there, balcony seating was perfect for watching show. Best to get there early for finding parking. The one nearest one to theatre is not as big so research ahead for other ones.
c. s.
Only second time I've visited, but its clean, tidy and roomy. Staff were helpful. Watched Cinderella on the 27th. If I was going to be critical then it would be that there was two hiccups with sound where it sounded like it distorted slightly. But will visit more.
E. K.
I haven't been to the Regent form many years, but a production of Cats was visiting so we bought tickets. By the time we got round to buying tickets the only ones available in a group of five were the very last row in the stalls. This ended up being rather good. There was nobody behind us and as I sat on the end of the row I was able to stretch my legs out into the aisle without causing any inconvenience to anyone. We could see all of the stage and the sound was perfect. The performance was excellent as was the venue.
G. G.
Set in a yukky location - dark and dismal area, groups of swarthy, non english speaking males hanging around commenting as females walk past - was really uncomfortable. I had about a 15 minute walk back to my room when i left the theatre at 10:30pm it wasnt a nice walk.
The seating itself is awful, it slopes back - and the front row you feellike you are in a deckchair and get neck strain. Harly anyweher decent to eat in the vicinity and couldnt find somewhere to stay, hotel etc in walking distance of the theatre. Parking around the theatre and side streets is awful - all residents parking. Quite an awful day trip
K. D.
Writing under daughters name. 5 of us came to see We Will Rock You tonight, brilliant show, will definitely book tickets for next year. I would like to say a big thank you to Jade who helped my husband, she brought a chair for him to sit on the big steps whilst going upstairs, fetched water for him and made sure he was ok at the interval and also looked after him after the show whilst I fetched the car. Thank you
S. P.
Wonderful theatre. One problem last nght, I was right behind the wheelchair space. Her head was 2 feet above her neighbours, so I could not see a lot of the stage. More thought about location, perhaps!
L. J.
I saw the RARE productions performance of Oliver. It was a masterful performance. Somehow, they managed to make a musical where 100% of the songs are bangers. My favourite actor was Micah T, who played a thief.
P. R.
Lovely theatre with very accommodating staff
S. B.
Nice clean place, polite staff. The seats are very small so was cramped and little leg room. The queues to get a drink were crazy, spent the whole 15 min break waiting, only just got back in before the lights went off.
S. B.
A lovely step back in time to a proper Old School theatre. It has a great variety of shows and acts on offer. Recently I have seen Sean Locke and Joel Dommett at this venue and both shows were great.
P. L.
A place of contradictions. The foyer and the circle bar look very basic and unenticing but the theatre itself is beautiful- and has toilets inside the auditorium which is a bonus. Hopefully if management read this they'll spend money refurbishing the non-auditorium areas!
J. L.
Fantastic show for charity - laughed so hard my jaw ached - worth every penny!
s. s.
Good atmosphere great evening
C. G.
Place is quaint/old school . But tight in the foyer and for seating pre drinks etc but the staff are the best very helpful showing you to your seats with a kind smile . All in all a really nice place steeped in history
T. B.
Went to see Zog, amongst the complete carnage of close to 100 kids there to watch the show, all the staff were cool calm and collected, which helped to calm things down. We were a box and the view was great, will come again!
N. S.
Great place for shows
D. H.
Excellent service and staff are extremely polite.
G. E.
Great evening all aspects the show theatre staff the organisation the great joois topmarks to all concerned
M. H.
Very organized friendly staff
A. H.
Visited to watch Thunder on tour. Show was great (as always). Theatre is quite cosy with a great view of the stage. Prices were reasonable, bar was ok. Facilities were clean and tidy.
L. L.
Had a fabulous time at the Regent . Motown musical was superb. The whole experience was super .could not fault it . Staff very helpful. Love this theatre . Booked again in October. Would definetly recommend to everyone .
j. d.
Nice theatre. Tea and coffee as well as a bar. Nearby parking. Can I suggest photos are allowed during the encore at gigs as a lot of bands like the publicity via social media? Obviously, photos and re orfing during a gig should not be allowed!
A. 9. A.
We saw Ricky Gervais here a couple weeks ago. The performance was excellent, the venue wasn't so much. There is no doubt the building needs a lick of paint, new carpets and everything else that goes with a general refurbishment. The organisation wasn't great, after being herded upsatirs for half an hour we finally got seated with no guidance as to where are actual seats were. During the interval, I used the men's toilets just below the circle area, and well, 3x urinals in a room big enough to accommodate 9 or 10 was an absolute joke, needless to say the queue quickly got out of hand. The performance hall itself is nice and the seating is comfortable, the sound is good and I can imagine you get a decent view of the stage from most seats. It's just a shame the rest of the venue can't be brought up to the same level. Oh and one more thing, parking in the Ipswich Reagent area is beyond a joke, get there early to obtain a space in one of the few small car parks close to the venue.
j. w.
Great evenings out. Comfortable.
Great service.
Felt safe. With covid restrictions in place
J. Y.
The Regent does bring a variety of shows to Ipswich but I don't particularly like this theatre. Was it built originally to be a wide screen cinema?? The theatre should create an exciting atmosphere ready for the show your about to see but alas this is sadly lacking at the Regent. The staff are friendly enough and helpful but the toilet facilities aren't easily accessible and could do with updating. Still if you want to see professional touring shows, the Regent wins!!
G. H.
I like this venue, it's a bit tired and although some decorations have been attended to the toilet facilities are still lacking. The shows are generally good though and I find the staff always welcoming.
L. R.
My husband and I came to see We will rock you last night, fantastic show, comfortable seating and great view of the stage from the circle, staff very helpful and friendly, could do with a few more ladies toilets though
G. H.
Fantastic concert and sound.
w. d.
Went to see Blood Brothers. It was an amazing show. The theatre is a great place to see shows. We were on row C, which was the front for this performance. There is loads going on at this theatre through out the year.
G. R.
Brilliant theatre, good view from seat and great for comedy acts
R. (. M. A. G.
Some great acts come to the regent, would be 5 stars, but leg room on standard seats is really tight and I haven't even got particularly long legs.
T. W.
The staff was very pleasant and went that extra mile.
J. V.
Lovely venue, friendly staff and great John Bishop show
C.
Normally love this theatre, great view wherever you're sat and lots of big name acts however the seats have recently been changed and I found them very uncomfortable which is a real shame as it had put me off. If it wasn't for this it would be 5 stars.
M. S.
Love it here. Just the right size and have some great shows on
P. A.
Plush carpets and seats. Friendly staff. Great acts. Saw the best ukelele orchestra of Britain. Brilliant music funny act, diverse genre of music too. From Hawkwind an Bowie to blues.
L. M.
What a lovely old characteristic theatre, saw John Bishop here. Well worth a visit
A. E.
Ipswich Regent theatre is in a good location in Ipswich close to carparks and on good bus routes. They have lots of big names come to the theatre and often offer reduced rate tickets on multiple shows. The theatre is as you would expect for an older building, maybe in need of a refurb, the toilets are always an issue, the queue for the ladies can be rediculous in the interval with no time left to get a drink or see/purchase any of the merchandise. Queuing for drinks can sometimes be an issue too, though this is often the case in many other theatres across the country, they may offer an interval ordering system but I wasn't aware of it. Overall it is a reasonable venue, I would definitely recommend it because of the location, the variety of artists and shows that are available to see, the cost of the tickets are compairable to other provincial theatres. If you can afford it purchase a box as it provides you with more leg room and excellent views of the stage. Take a look at their website to get an idea of the broad range of performances on offer.
M. P.
Lovely theatre. Only one thing no lift to top floor
C. M.
Amazing 👏 Michael Mcintyre was superb
S. B.
Very intimate venue, i went to see Caro Emerald and wherever you sat you could see her so clearly. However on a busy night it is very very difficult to park, my father is disabled and all parking was a good walk away.
F. C.
Had a great time seeing Jools Holland last weekend. Great venue and good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Been going here for years and perfect for a great night out.
A. W.
Brilliant showing of cinderella gun for the kids and the adults
T. P.
Went to watch Dirty Dancing. Excellent Venue and very well organised...
N. W.
The best musical I've ever seen! The stage was so big and so many seats for multiple people. There was also ice cream during the break.
T. Y.
A great place with brilliant shows.
D. C.
Great show and comfortable seats.
S. C.
Great theatre, good productions. However, when will establishments realise that there are never enough Ladies toilets. The queue for the Ladies last night (Blood Brothers) reached from the toilet to the bar!
C. W.
I attended your Saturday matinee of "And then there was one" with some friends. We sat to the right of the auditorium and the sound was very poor. We are in our 70's but usually very good with hearing. However this spoilt the first part as we failed to hear many catch lines and lost the thread of the whole play.
During the first interval, we spoke to one of your employees who told us if there were spare seats towards the back in the middle section, we could move.
Thankfully this was a slight improvement and we could just follow the plot.
Why didn't the actors wear microphones>
I feel I should bring this to your attention for further touring companies to learn from this.

So tonight we're watching Sean Lock. First impressions of the Regent, man it's hot in here! I think the Regent is an amazing place and the ambience of the place is really nice. Let's hope his performance is as nice as the place!
L. F.
It's a beautiful theatre, the staff are lovely, and they put on great entertainment. My only gripe is with the wheelchair spaces. Since they upgraded a few years back they made new spaces for wheelchair users. The ones at the front have the wcu sat in front of you, and out of communication. If you're there on a date, or with someone who needs a lot of care, or someone non verbal, it creates a huge separation during the show. The ones on the side a little further back leave the wcu feeling a little in the way, as it's a platform on a slope, but on the same level as the row behind. A lot of wheelchairs have seats higher than the theatre seats, and although the platforms are right out on the outside of the row, the wcu is meerkatting above the crowd. We have heard people behind us complain loudly to their companions about that, and although I don't believe it cuts off much of their view, it does leave the wcu feeling a bit shabby. To give the theatre credit, they have now moved the 'carer' seat next to the caged staging wheelchair space instead of it being a chair breadth away.
P. P.
Ballet performance wonderful, but theatre woefully lacking in female toilets.
c. f.
Brilliant night Status Quo last night well done all
J. L.
Went to see Australian Pink Floyd. The venue could do with a bit of a face lift as it's now very dated, but once you're in and banging who cares what colour the walls are. Great evening out.
S. M.
We had a great evening , we saw "the band" it was an emotional roller coaster ride, thankyou
A. T.
It could be a perfect venue if it could benefit from more TLC. The age related wear and tear around the stage could be fixed easily and there is no excuse for leaving a theater that quite regularly has full house at decent ticket prices (decent for both parties) to slowly decay like this.
V. E.
The regent theatre at Ipswich is a really lovely theatre and particularly liked to see Paul Carrack last night
W. H.
Enjoyed the show but let down by lack of parking & ended up having to pay £7 to park (thanks to Ipswich council) whilst I was in there for 2hrs which is taking the piss! Nice size place with lots of character
H. B.
Lovely theatre, comfortable, and great seating, as a small person I am able to see the stage with ease even if someone taller in front of me.
C. F.
Excellent and very professional staff including the security staff for an efficient entrance to the show
L. S.
Saw Russell Kane here . Absolutely brilliant. Really nice venue

Chose our tickets on line from what looked like a near Thursday night sell out of Riverdance, Got 2 seats together near the back and got settled in about 7.30 for an 8.00 start. We could not believe the seats that were empty as the show started. Someone at the Regent has lost them a lot of money and I spoke to the lady in the next seat to us and she had the same online problem with the web site showing a near sell out. Brilliant show and the refurbed Regent looks good.

It was wonderful to be back in a theatre again. 🙂👍

Staff are very helpful the clean place to be next door Chinese can't go wrong must be 2 to go in there no single people to go in Chinese next to Regent Regent is quite helpful shows of the world box office hits all the time lots of praise for IBC Ipswich Borough Council but needs a lick of paint on the outside and on the notes of shows to be shown if anybody is interested to find out anything about shows will be listening to a radio show on DAB radios called encore it's a must have for shows to be shown upcoming shows
J. T.
Loved the show (blood brothers) as for the regent it needs the bar area up dated or more seats would help we spent ££££ yet had to stand for 30 minuets as people that had brought there own drinks and sandwiches (classy) had take the tables, lastly when the show was on if I can see people of a age that should no better using the bloody mobile phones
The staff should be tapping them one shoulder just RUDE .
M. W.
Great theatre,
Easy to find, reasonable value and good variety in the shows it holds. Seen comedy acts, musicians and stage shows here and I've always been entertained.
J. S.
Just been to see Cinderella, not been to a pantomime for years my kids took me

Buttons took it to another level

Great to see the Wooly in full swing again. Good food and selection of ales !
J. M.
They get some really good acts here, as well as my grandson's local dance group putting on shows. Nice theatre.
K. C.
Great local theatre.
S. P.
Venue is good. Always down to your choice of seats and shows. Regent tends to offer a good range. We saw Blood Brothers - which is consistently great.
L. N.
Great venue, 2 Bars, staff great and a wonderful choice of shows. Only problem was not enough ladies toilets, long queues only 2 cubicles in the circle area, there are others on other floors
P. N.
Good entertainment..recently saw Bootleg Beatles here...a great evening had by all our family. Staff friendly and helpful. Good car parking just across the road.
G. L.
Very comfortable, even cosy theatre.Have seen everything from The Royal Philharmonic orchestra, Lulu, and Lord of the Dance.
Biggest drawback, nearest carpark can cost £6
R. W.
Visited my local fleapit once more to see the excellent Horne Section.Shame about the start time mix up.However, those of us who were there for the 7.30 sitting, got to see an extra bit of sillyness.
T. S.
Went to see Oliver this evening . What amazing talented youngsters . Oliver was outstanding as was Nancy .. huge congratulations to all of the cast you was fab .
J. B.
Hi went to see Lenny Henry & for the first time in the circle 2nd row, still a great view. Really good venue always enjoy & all staff excellent.
D. L.
Great venue. Seating good. Good acoustics.
U. S. L.
Seen some great shows here including Ken Dodd lol, much better since the new seats were installed, 10CC and the "holy grail" are top on my list
C. C.
Brilliant. Staff were helpful and place was clean all the time
K. S.
This is a great theatre with powerful and engaging productions. They go out of their way to cater for their patrons. There is ample safe parking just around the corner.
T. B.
Brilliant venue! But bar shuts too early xx
C. J.
Went to watch Officer and Gentleman. Although the production was very good the sound system let it down with the music over powering the singers. This seems to be an ongoing issue with this theatre.
B. M.
Comfortable & just the right size. Toilets are small & one is upstairs.
p. b.
Bar is a little over priced but been a couple of times, seen Level 42 and watched Annie, half the upper circle was empty, possibly due to ticket prices being high IMHO, halve the prices...fill the theatre guys, better than being half empty surely
J. H.
Great views, seats up top well laid out, not enough people behind the bar, security are not very alert. Had a great time watching Sarah Millican, very amusing
M. W.
Very enjoyable experience
J. C. R.
Very friendly helpful staff always happy to help you disabled access is excellent also concessions on ticket prices for disabled example carer goes free and you can book a disabled parking space in thier own car park you need to request a disabled parking space when you book your tickets and they will tell you the gate code to enter thier car park
M. G.
Love coming here! Always excellent disabled access and brilliant staff! We travel here instead of much nearer Cambridge as so much more disabled friendly!
R. B.
Wow a great night was had by all, for an old theatre it is very well designed easy access. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
D. M.
Good venue for music. The bars look tatty could do with a lick of paint. They do get some great 80's bands
L. H.
Really like this cinema. Friendly and welcoming staff. Always clean, comfortable seats and the little bar is quite nice too.
J. B.
The show was great we saw Witney Huston Tribute
J. T.
Love visiting the theatre and great to have this one locally.

Great place to see some shows. Been there many times now, will continue to return for the standard of panto or standup show they put on there.
P. Y.
Nice theatre to see live acts. Can be a bit hot in the circle but pretty much every seat has a good view.
J. R.
Very friendly staff disabled access excellent when booking if disabled you can pre book a disabled car park space which is free you will receive the gate pass code with your tickets without pass code you will not be able to access the reagent theatre car park although opposite this there is a pay and display car park but its not free it is just behind the fish and chip shop
P. C.
Our ladies club saw "My Fair Lady.Incredible acting and singing.Superb.It was a very hot evening but lovely temperature in the theatre. My only moan is the uncomfortable seats.Lay back too far
C. R.
Ipswich's very own. Visited this venue many times over the last 40 years. Sunset Boulevard was a really good show.
M. L.
Friendly and helpful staff. My wife has multiple sclerosis and wheel chair access and related facilities are acceptable given the age of the building.
H. L.
The staff is friendly and helpful the shows are very good the drinks are a bit pricier than other places but taste good xx
P.
Enjoyable night out.
D. J.
The Regent is a original type of theatre with great views of the stage in all areas. There is plenty of local parking and places to eat.
M.
Went to see Sarah millican here and thought it was a lovely theatre, they still have pieces of its history dotted around the public areas which I appreciate.
Only thing that hurts it's review is the traffic system that's surrounds it. Not very well sign posted when trying to leave ipswich.
J. S.
Brilliant panto :) I would definitely come back to see another
A. F.
Love this place because of the memories but the disability access needs to improve, as do the amount of toilets in general. Hopefully the refurbishment will improve things.
M. A.
Had not been before but easy to find. Delightfully quaint but the seats were comfortable. Excellent production of Beautiful.
S. W.
Another fabulous show at Ipswich Regent! Have already booked up for two more shows next year - worth the trip from Gorleston 👍
T. S.
Clean traditional theatre with a nice atmosphere.
S. A.
Grest venue. Helpful staff.
J. D.
A lovely theatre with an old-fashioned look to it. The theatre carpark is tiny, however there are several other carparks within easy walking distance.
N. P.
One of Suffolk's top local concert venues if only the flow in and out was better organised, along with the merchandise stand as current layout can cause serious bottlenecks at main entrance.
C. S.
Burn the floor with Kevin Clifton, really good night out.
C. B.
Just been to see Alan Carr had a brilliant time .
S. C.
We go to the Christmas play every year and it is an amazing experience for all they really do cater for all ages it makes laugh historically every year and it is a super clean and tidy place 5 stars all the way
J. R.
Great show but not enough staff on the bar. Lack of available ladies toilets meant queues of 15 mins to use the loo!
B. S.
Could use a refurb... But it's still a great place for live events
S. J.
Always excellent panto, great venue
R. J.
Such a gem of a theatre. Looking forward to returning in the new year!!
A. R.
Excellent acoustics, helpful staff and lovely surroundings. More ladies toilets needed or multisex the gents.
M. S.
Staff excellent, especially the one's on the front of house and ticket office
Be great if the shows were better.
B. U.
Had a great time here. Saw a fantastic show. Lots of events are offered here from Panto to Concerts. Nice theatre
M. T.
Hell getting there on the night due to lorry over on A14, venue good bringing top notch acts to Suffolk (sometimes) facilities all pass muster.
C. H.
Generally good live shows. Ladies toilets need a makeover. Carpet in the loos isn't a great idea.
C. “. L.
Great venue with lovely staff have seen and been in shows here before ! Lovely events and nice layout
S. W.
Nice staff, very clean
J. W.
Great local theatre, views and sound are good. 3 bars. Only down side are ladies toilets, the queues arealways so long.
J. W.
Friendly staff, easy ticketing. Seats could use a little more leg room. All in all a pleasant if slightly tired an shabby building.
G. L.
Enjoyable evening. No crowd control. Lots of welcoming staff. Staggered entry?
A. G.
Good variety of shows there's something for everyone to enjoy at reasonable prices and an all you can eat restaurant across the road and one next to the venue
T. F.
Really enjoyed sounds of the sixtys. Had a great night
