Reviews of Clissold House

First time here. It is such a lovely spot! W
Trying the life cafe, the que time is definitely worth the wait.. the ginger latte was a dream. The Vegi Painni, wasn't the best but would definitely come back an try something else.
M. T.
It is an exceptional place for me and our family. Our daughter's wedding took place here. The building has an interesting history, architecture and is surrounded by a beautiful park. I'd love to come back here.
M. C.
I like clissold park. It's nice to walk around it only daily walks. Has that lovely cafe in the middle. Bonus, there are plenty of dogs.
P. O.
Idyllic spot to watch fellow locals at play. Excellent cafe, fantastic play area for kids, skate park and wildlife on the ponds all to the accompanyment of the local parakeets.
P. P.
Went there as a large family on Saturday afternoon. Just 5 coffees and a cake, which were excellent, but required a mortgage to pay for them. Why so very expensive guys your in Clissold park not Regent St.
R. M.
Cosy park, not too big! Littlies have the deer and goats to amuse themselves! Great walks for the whole family and for fitness. Cafe on site for the tired and hungry and toilets which is handy.

Well, we had our wedding reception here so we’re slightly biased, but we loved this place as the venue. It’s beautiful and classic without being showy, so you don’t need to do much decor-wise other than add flowers. It’s a shame they don’t let you hang anything up or bring in helium balloons as it does mean you’re limited in what you can do, decor-wise. But it’s light and airy, and a brilliant party venue. Its dry hire though, so if you’re having a wedding reception here, get a co-ordinator (I used Laura Devine of Devine Bride, who is amazing).

Nice cafe at the heart of Clissold Park in the grand Clissold House situated on a mini hill overlooking the animals, water & gardens. Good inside and outside seating, with a selection of cakes, food, nibbles and drinks. We got a drink there on a busy Saturday, and unfortunately we were waiting for a good 15 -20 minutes for drinks to take away, but its probably a lot less busy during the week
S. M.
Good coffee, shame about the time it took to make it. Nice sheltered garden to sit in at the back.
S. E.
So many memories from my early teens till now alot of years an still going over there
N. E.
Breathing space and lovely view enjoyed with an ex colleague I haven't seen for couple of years. Friendly staff and good quality food.
R. K.
Great cafe with sourdough sausage sandwiches and a cheeky latte. Added entertainment was a wedding which caused for a confetti storm. Lovely place in a cracking park
A. R.
Lovely park great ply area for the kids lots of shade from the sun today nicely kept gardens and Fab mint and chocolate chip ice-cream
G. A. G.
I love this place and you get a lovely view from the park when you sit outside
O. C.
For family or friends any activity will turn out amazing in this place
J. P.
Great coffee, friendly staff, decent food in a fabulous setting
R. H.
Lovely for everyone who likes park. It has a brilliant playground, a nice conservatory for deer and bird also good taste of matcha latte and pizza 🍕 where you stop by in the clissold park cafes..
N. C.
Amazing venue in a fab location. Plenty of outside space for photo opportunities. As a Brighton Wedding Videographer I have no problem travelling to a venue as awesome as this! Lovely staff, highly recommended
A. B.
Not open to the public at present, however the park and its lovely surroundings was more than enough to enjoy
G. P.
Lovely as ever, nice garden to sit in and sandwiches and coffee available
M. Y.
Brilliant wedding venue. We were very lucky with the weather which was a real bonus.

Clissold Park must definitely be one of the jewels in the crown of Hackney borough. The super park is tree lined, has New River flowing through it,and is a superb venue for adults, parents, and children. The house at Clissold is Georgian and well sighted with views around the park. It is an excellent leisure resource with an interesting and well patronized cafe on two levels, the lower ideal for parents and children in the garden play area. In summer it is a lovely experience as the garden is a sun trap and you can while away the hours. The cafe is well run with efficient and friendly staff, and the range of snacks and teas, coffees, baguettes, sandwiches, cakes, chocolate, and ice cream, and lunches is extensive. You can sit outside under the portico of the house at tables, or inside in a large dining area, or downstairs at tables or on the grass. The house is cleanly kept with good clean toilets, and there is history of the house in photographs. A nice, and pleasant mix of people use the cafe and we have always experienced quality time there. Always good for your children. Highly recommended.

It’s a beautiful building that offers its serene magic to weddings, lunches or simply tea with the kids. My toddlers insist on it whenever we leave the playground, but I was just as attached to having tea or a bite there before I had kids. If only the opening hours were a little more generous - and they properly expanded the food offering - it’s be heaven. But highly recommended nonetheless.
J.
Nice cafe, but no gluten free lunch options. Some prepackaged cakes.
J. L.
Lovely and extremely exciting playground, where it stated that “the world is a playground and pushing my swings -Natalie cosch(?)”.
Good and please enjoy.
K. M.
Wonderful coffee w/ cheerful staff
S. E.
Very nice little cafe with access from the ground floor via lift or stairs. Pizza is good so is the coffee and not too pricy. Nice little view of the stream with ducks of strong outside and lovely little area for dining in. I've always liked coming here even if it's for a quick coffee on a trip to the park with kids.
A. S.
Pretty little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating
G. M.
Great place for families. Large open areas for every kind of sport. Families can enjoy the pet area. Also terrapins in the river and deer. A coffee shop is a little expensive for what it is but well used. Tennis courts and play area. An oasis for all the family and we'll worth the effort.
J. S.
Been going here for years ..
Nice place to come and have a vanilla milkshake with mumzy and chill and catch up time x
J. M.
Has a nice café to grab a coffee, a pastry or an ice cream when hanging out at the park!
Z. M.
Needs a few more animals in there.
M. S.
Clissold House is lovely and a great place to stop off for a drink or lunch if you are in the park. The service can be hit and miss in terms of timings but the menu has something for everyone.
C. H.
Beautiful park, nice cafe if a little pricey. Not sure how I feel about the "no families" room. I understand those without children like their own space but this is in a park next to a huge kids play area.... there's gonna be kids there!
a. v. d. e.
There are pros and cons to this cafe. Pros are it's beautiful, spacious, family-friendly (spent a LOT of time here in the newborn phase with other mums) and has great coffee. The cons are it's very expensive, quite middle class so could be off-putting to some and the food isn't all that. I like the little outdoor take-away bit that spills out on to the gardens.
T. W.
The café is beautiful, with great staff who are always very friendly and helpful towards me, and it is a huge improvement upon the old greasy spoon style café which used to be in the park. Weekdays can tend to get busy with lots of small (loud) children, and it does tend to get incredibly busy on hot sunny days. The prices actually aren't as bad as some people have mentioned, £2.15 for a large café latte - I do believe this is one of the cheapest places for coffee on the whole of Church Street!
T. P.
This is a beautiful setting for a cafe and it's wonderfully child friendly, including a large play area outside, level access and changing facilities. The menu selection isn't very varied and the prices a little high for what you get. There's certainly nothing wrong with the place and it's nice to visit, but it could do more right.
A. B.
Good, fresh homemade food, an extensive kids menu, and decent coffee. It’s quite reasonably priced too. The park is lovely, but I come for the cafe!
C. R.
For the love of a simple life. Please just serve a portion of chips!! You will make a lot of parents/and children very happy
M. B.
Nice Venue full of character. It is part of the heritage of the park. Unfortunately service is a bit slow.
A. H.
We rented out two rooms for our wedding reception in April. A beautiful setting and a friendly team. However, we hired one room as a party space and were not returned our deposit because of high heel marks on the floor. The team also threw away £70 worth of cheeses that we had asked them to keep until we got back from honeymoon . We didn't receive an apology. Gorgeous grounds and building but we were disappointed in the service we received.
C. B.
It's the first time in this area for me but I love Clissold park cause of its beautiful nature, trees, little lakes, deer and swans and also playing children all around; a beautiful place where to walk and run and also to have breakfast outside in the sun, the only little problem: the costs are little bit high in comparison with the services and the waiterd not really empathetic.
H. M.
Park lovely but cafe needs at least a couple of people downstairs. Took 20 mins to get a coffee and quite a few people...
A. N.
My kids favourite summer hangout..the building has a bar, food, loos and fantastic ice cream, and Clissold park has a super play ground, and a giant paddling pool
K. B.
One very friendly lady, one not so. Real mixed bag in terms of service, coffee was nice though and they have post Covid system working for them
C. J.
Really nice park, even in lockdown. Food & drink available from cafe. Animals, deer, goats etc for children to see
S.
A park with many things to enjoy: large children playground, skate park, coffee shop, small zoo, two lakes, tennis courts, tennis table, lovely garden, outdoor swimming pool in the summer.
K. A.
Been here on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Love the upstairs tables by the window. I only had a drink, so cannot comment on the food, but overall it is an interesting place in a good location. The problem is, there is an overflow of children, babies, and strollers, so if that's not your thing, AVOID.
B. H.
Clissold house is lovely,if you want a drink or something to eat,you won't be disappointed by the variety,
L. C.
Clissold Park is one of my favorites in London and The House makes the experience so much better. You can get refuse inside if the weather is terrible, much needed coffee, refillable water and treats for kids.
L. A.
Lovely place, simply beautiful.
C. H.
Pleasant Coffee Shop. Beautiful Park
S. M.
Just when we needed a café, there it was!
G.
It's just a nice park. There is a lift and it is...
A 2nd gen Ecodisc! You'd expect a generic but no we have an ecodisc instead.
Y.
I know park and house is favourite places especially for mothers, but don't worry there is a quiet room inside where you can dine and study without any distraction
P. S.
Great food/coffee.
A. B.
This venue is fantastic, it's an old manor house situated in the middle of the park. It is a bit out of the way but definately worth the trip. A great venue to rent for a party, wedding or whatever!
N. S.
Lovely place with great facilities for children including the playground and deer enclosure. There is a playgroup called one o'clock club worth checking out with your little one.
B. “. W.
Cafe in the park, they normally have a really good menu, coffee is alright. Loads of snacks which are really good.
B. E. S.
It's one of the most beautiful places in London to have a coffee on a sunny day. The coffee has gotten worth drinking recently too; the area has lamentably few places that can boast that.
N. P.
Best matcha latte in the area
M. B.
Location is great and outdoor cafe really handy. Good coffee. Food is basic but ok. Overall expensive for what it is. Considering how popular it is the food could be better.
D. S.
The house and park are lovely. But the problem they have is that the maintenance crew are either understaffed or incompetent as the beds are a mess and have no variety. Not well maintained at all.
H. E.
Best park in London
B. D.

Staff rude, very slow and expensive, lately the staff have been a bit more pleasant but still expensive

We took coffee and muffins. Coffee was very good and muffin was fresh. Still rating low because of staffs behavior. One of them was particularly rude while others were trying to be very nice.
