We got married towards the end of July and the venue was absolutely stunning, from the well kept gardens to the naturally beautiful building itself - Jo and Simon have created something special with this venue. The venue was the perfect size for our 70 day guests and 110 evening guests to keep it feeling intimate throughout and their recommendations for caterers were perfect. Jo and Simon were fantastic from the build-up to the wedding right through to the evening of the big day - helping us feel calm and organized throughout. We can honestly say the whole day went off without a hitch and we couldn't recommend them enough! Thank you so much, Dan & Sarah x

We got married at The Reading Room in May after changing our wedding plans twice due to the pandemic. Our original plan was to elope to Italy having got engaged on the Amalfi coast, and we therefore wanted a relaxed, Italian inspired wedding. The Reading Room was the perfect backdrop for this - the building itself is beautiful, and the garden is absolutely gorgeous. The venue was the perfect size for us - we could comfortably fit our number of guests, whilst maintaining a more intimate feel. The Reading Room's location meant that we also had the opportunity to take some beautiful photos in the Norfolk countryside, and with it being near the coast, many of our guests took the opportunity to enjoy the North Norfolk coast over the weekend. Simon & Jo were both amazing during the planning stages and over the weekend - we really appreciated how calm, kind and helpful they were throughout. They helped us feel relaxed throughout, meaning we had the most amazing wedding. Lots of guests commented on how wonderful the venue was, and we would highly recommend The Reading Room.

What a fabulous venue run by the nicest people! I photographed Samantha & Leon’s beautiful summer wedding at the Reading Rooms and was so impressed that I can’t wait to go there again. The venue is an intimate and the gardens are the best I’ve seen. The venue spends a lot of time with the outside - So much colour and not all green - Makes for gorgeous photos! The staff were fantastic and couldn’t help more. If anyone had a query, it was sorted. A selection of blankets for those relaxing outside was very welcome! Thank you to all the team at the Reading Rooms, and for Samantha and Leon for having me along for the ride!

Gorgeous venue which is made even more special by the wonderful Jo and Simon. We got married in September '22 on a drizzly day but thanks to the flexibility of the beautiful inside space and gorgeous gardens at The Reading Room this wasn't a problem at all. We picked the caterers (B&R) and evening food (Broadside Pizza) from the preferred suppliers list and they were both brilliant and offered excellent value. There is no corkage charges at the venue which is amazing and a huge saving over other venues. Both the inside and outside space are licenced for wedding ceremonies so you can hold your entire day onsite. We would highly recommend The Reading Room.

A very nice place to have a wedding. Nicely kept gardens. Modern clean toilets. I don't think they are licensed to do legal weddings yet though and also not licensed to sell alcohol.

An amazing venue ran by incredibly tentative hosts set in the most beautiful location. We were one of the many couples who had to twice postpone their wedding because of the pandemic, and we can wholeheartedly say, that it was the kindness and understanding of Simon and Jo that kept our spirits up and made our day - when it did come - truly incredible. The recommendations and support Simon and Jo gave us throughout we’re so helpful, we would also highly recommended going with Expresso (one of the reading rooms chosen suppliers) for your wedding breakfast, they too were ridiculous good. We had a lot of children on the day and the country garden setting is perfect for all ages and fully secluded that you feel completely safe. I could write a lot more about how good the reading room is but the number one thing we would recommend doing, is going to view the venue, meet Simon and Jo and see for yourselves how incredible it really is.

Over a month has passed since we said I do at The Reading Room and truthfully, barely a day has passed by that we haven't reflected in some way at how lucky we feel at finding the amazing suppliers that made our day so magical and memorable. The greatest part of this is of course, due entirely to the utterly enchanting wedding venue that you both have so skilfully created in Alby. The rural location, stunning architecture, elegant interior space, and exquisite pristine gardens are all simply beautiful, but the location truly awakens when you host a wedding there. The level of detail that you both bring to the planning stages to ensure every element is considered, and the calmness and total professionalism of delivery throughout the day is not only hugely reassuring, but allowed us both to feel totally relaxed in the knowledge that all the planned details were being taken care of. All our guests were captivated by the Reading Room and all have said how very much they enjoyed our special day. We are both so grateful to you and so glad that we chose The Reading Room for our wedding day - Thankyou both so very much

Not only is the venue and grounds beautiful, but Jo and Simon, are truly exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble, they have been excellent in helping us to not feel stressed despite the wedding being postponed twice. We booked the Reading Room for our wedding in June 22 and we couldn’t be happier. The Reading Room only allows visits by appointment which is fantastic as it allows you to view the whole space alone and take as many pictures as you need. We viewed the venue in June 21 which was perfect as we got a good idea of how the gardens looked at the same time of year. Jo showed us round the venue and answered all of the questions we had. We didn’t feel any pressure to book or felt we were being “sold” anything, which was lovely. After leaving the venue I cried because it is simply so beautiful! The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other Norfolk venues and you get so much for the money. Not only are Jo & Simon there to help you with any questions, they also help set-up the day before and coordinate on the day of the event. They were totally flexible with our decor and they even communicated with our other vendors in the days leading up to the wedding. To give an example - Simon even drilled some holes in our wedding signage the day before as we forgot to do this! On the day of the wedding one of our elderly guests fell over outside and before I even noticed, Jo and Simon had made her a cup of tea and made sure she was safe and well. Overall the venue is just gorgeous. The gardens are stunning, the building is not too cold nor too hot. It’s accessible for everyone too as it’s all on the ground floor with no stairs. Jo and Simon allowed us to hang lanterns from the pergola, floral arrangements from the beams, use biodegradable confetti, park a drinks van in the grounds, hire a cocktail bar - everything we wanted! They were so flexible and we really appreciated this. Personally I think this is the best wedding venue in Norfolk and is such a secret treasure. So many guests commented on the beauty of the venue and so many more didn’t even know it existed! I wouldn’t hesitate to book them if I could re-do it all again. Thank you X

We write to give our sincere thanks for providing us with an absolutely fantastic venue for us to enjoy our very special day and to share with our guests. Simon and Jo helped us enormously with setting up tables, decorative lighting and even their two girls were happy to be involved with helping us make the small table flower decorations. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and this enabled us to be totally confident that our arrangements were carried out meticulously. Such a lovely genuine couple with an absolutely stunning wedding venue, providing us with the magical, romantic ambience that we wanted and one that can sometimes be lost in a larger less intimate setting. We were fortunate enough with the weather to enjoy a duel ceremony, with our guests being seated outside, leaving the room set up with the flowers and decorations. The winding gravel pathway provided the perfect entrance for us the walk down to greet our guests accompanied by our two Œbest dogs¹. Both Simon and Jo were on hand the day before and also throughout the day, evening and also the following day. We wish them every success for the future as they deserve to do extremely well.

We held our wedding at The Reading Room in September 2017 and we were delighted with the venue and impressed by the professional service provided by Simon and Jo who were supportive, flexible and helpful throughout the planning, on the wedding day and the day after! We visited over 20 wedding venues in Norfolk, Suffolk, Scotland and abroad and this was the only venue that met all of our criteria - a beautiful setting; flexibility with the catering, drinks and entertainment so that our wedding would be unique to us; friendly, patient and helpful owners who were very accommodating during our many planning visits; and great value for money. All of our guests commented positively about The Reading Room. We highly recommend The Reading Room in Alby, Norfolk as a wedding venue; the gardens are beautiful, the building has been renovated to a very high standard and it provides the perfect place for a wedding ceremony and reception. Thank you to Simon and Jo for renovating this lovely building and making it available as a Norfolk wedding venue.

We have just had our wedding at The Reading Rooms. With the ever changing situation that covid has caused, we had to act quickly to book and arrange our day. We only contacted them 6 weeks before the actual wedding day after we lost our original venue. They were amazing at helping to arrange the wedding of our dreams. The venue and the service was absolutely perfect. We cannot thank Simon and Jo enough for making our day so special. The grounds are stunning and kept in an amazing state, the building itself is simply beautiful. We chose to marry outside, but we could have also opted for in the Reading Room itself, which is an amazing building.

We had our wedding reception at the Reading Room in April 2019. It has been beautifully renovated and is set in a lovely garden which provides a wonderful backdrop for wedding photos. An oak pergola is a great recent addition to the outside space. Our guests loved the Reading Room and have been very complementary of it. The owners, Jo and Simon, work incredibly hard to make everything run smoothly, even arranging site visits for us directly with our caterer and photographer. They are so flexible and well organised, and we are immensely grateful to them both for their assistance in planning our reception. Not to mention going above and beyond on the day itself and actually assembling our homemade wedding cake for us! We would not hesitate to recommend the Reading Room and would like to say a very big thank you once again to Jo and Simon for all their help.

We had our ceremony and reception there and Simon and Jo could not have done more for us to ensure the day ran smoothly.
