We booked a tour through Invitation To View, so we were shown around the ground floor of the house and the garden by the owners. The garden is absolutely beautiful and the views over the river are spectacular. This was all finished off with a delicious cream tea. Well worth the trip.

A stunning period house and garden. A private residence with viewing by appointment or on advertised open days. Set with a glorious vantage point of the River Yealm valley the steep gardens display plants and trees from around the globe, with some particular mature exotic species.

With UK garden trips I visited Thorn House & Gardens during Holy Week 2019. The tour by the owner couple was relaxed, competent, detailed and humorous, enriched with warm affection for our group. After a detailed tour, tea, coffee and pastries in the winter garden of the house. A wonderful stay that I look back on fondly.
