Attended a friends wedding here and was blown away by the place. Best food we have ever tasted at a wedding (and we’ve done a few recently!). The staff were fantastic and helpful and the way they served us was brilliant. Would highly recommend! Nothing was too much trouble and the venue looked beautiful.

I can only give my opinion as a wedding party guest having chosen to stay overnight. The only real disappointment for me and my wife was the total lack of disabled access facilities. No designated disabled parking but it was possible to stop briefly adjacent to the main door to offload passengers and luggage. The driveway consists of non compacted gravel making it impossible to use a wheelchair. The main function room has three steps to access the bar area and accommodation with no ramp provided. Having said all that there is nothing else for me to criticise. The venue is absolutely delightful and ideally suited for weddings. The staff were very attentive and courteous and worked very hard to make the special occasion for the happy couple. Our room on the ground floor was very clean and comfortable. Bar prices are a bit steep but perhaps what you’d expect from such a venue. Continental breakfast was very good but a bacon butty would have gone down very well.

My Husband and I got married here on the 30th June. I had to leave this review as I cannot stress enough how amazing The Pear Tree was! From setting up the night before and as there wasn’t a wedding the day before we stayed to help set up and also just enjoy the venue a little more. We ordered in food but the bar was still open and Duncan has set up a lovely table for us with a bottle of champagne to enjoy our evening. Duncan , the events manager was SO helpful and nothing was too much trouble at all. The rooms were all ready and the whole place was so immaculate ready for our day. On the day of our wedding we were brought up pastries, tea , coffee and fresh juice all of which were delicious! During our day we had a few missing guests and tables had to be changed and moved around. Duncan and my wedding coordinator, Georgie dealt with everything, they were always checking in to see if we were happy with everything and continued to be such amazing help throughout the entire day! The food, well EVERYONE raved about how amazing the food was. I have been to a few weddings and I knew The Pear Trees food would knock the competition out the park and it really did!! The variety of drinks they had were also brilliant and nobody ever went without. I wish I could do this day all over again and I would 100000% choose the pair tree over anywhere else. The personal touch was there from start to finish and it was totally problem and stress free. Thank you so much Duncan and the team, you made our wedding day such a success and we will never be able to put into words how much we appreciate it! Xxx

Massive THANK YOU to Duncan, Sarah & the entire team at The Pear Tree. We finally had our day on 19th August 2021 after postponing from 2020 and we must say it was certainly worth the wait! It was the BEST day of our lives. We fell in love the venue as soon as we saw it and knew instantly this was the place we wanted to say ‘I do’ Even though we faced many challenges over the period when Covid first hit, Sarah & Angus were fantastic and came up with solutions to hold our special day, which we decided to postpone. After 18 months of planning our day had finally arrived the excitement was unreal. Our day was beyond everything we hoped and wished for, the day was filled with fun, happiness and so much love by all. It was perfect in every way and that was down to the AMAZING team at The Pear Tree. Special thanks to Duncan our Wedding Events Manager who personally ensured the day went smooth and perfect for us. Duncan’s attention to detail was five star and everything was covered throughout the day. I personally would like to say Thank- You for putting up with me :-) Some more thanks to Sarah, Jade & Emily for all your support and time you have given me and my hubby, we appreciate you all. The food and service was out of this world of which many guests still comment on today. We would highly recommend this stunning venue for your special day. I had the pleasure of attended an amazing wedding at this venue recently. The venue and grounds are beautiful. The staff were polite, efficient, friendly and really went out their way to meet everyone's needs. Highly recommend holding your big event here if you you're looking for a great venue, lovely food and brilliant staff!

Very pleasant venue with high class food and accommodation. Excellent countryside setting. Only drawback is slightly awkward for disabled (stairs/gradients, etc.) although there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Would recommend.

As the mother of the bride, I wanted my daughter's wedding to be perfect, just as she'd planned. Well, what can I say? The team were absolutely fantastic. They were attentive, nothing was too much trouble and the food was out of this world (many of the guests still talk about how good the beef was!). We had a fabulous time and would recommend The Pear Tree!

Attended a wedding. All staff except for the bar manager, who was rude and obnoxious throughout the day were super. Service at the wedding breakfast was incredibly slow and food lukewarm (albeit tasty). Considering cost they really do need to up their game.

We recently attended a family wedding here and stayed in one of the rooms. The whole experience was wonderful, the staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were clean, modern and cosy. The food was delicious. A great place for a wedding, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful venue location. However staff especially management need to learn they are running a wedding venue and that you need to be calm, polite and happy when dealling with guests. This was not the case at the wedding I attended and I would also suggest the venue is not prepared to be a fully functional wedding venue and hotel post Covid.

This is a stunning venue inside and outside and we had such a lovely wedding here for my God daughter on a Tuesday despite the extreme heatwave ! The ceremony room .the main venue room and bar area and library to outside seating area are all well thought out and so nicely decorated and make any guest feel special whilst there and the food was great aswell ! Attended for a wedding, lovely wedding and great day. Lovely food. Slightly let down by an over zealous bar manager...after spending 30 quid on three drinks from the bar, one of the pints was flat. Proceeded to make quite a song and dance when I asked for a pint with some more fizz.

Recently attended The Pear Tree for a family friends wedding as a Guest, and it was wonderful! The venue is stunning, including the grounds, staff were polite and helpful and the food and service was amazing.

We enjoyed a fantastic wedding day, the weather was perfect, the food was very nice as was the accommodations. However, this was marred by one member of staff. Namely Anthony, the bar Manager. He was rude and treated our guests at the end of the evening, like one would expect a doorman speaking to unruly football hooligans, rather than civilised middle aged respectable people! He was ordering his staff to pick up full drinks all night. You leave a drink to ie, use the toilet, have a dance, to return to a ‘taken’ drink. The cost of drinks is extortion at best, only exasperated by staff removing any unattended, full drinks! Such a shame to have our very much looked forward to experience, to be spoilt by this! Unless the management address this issue, I believe this may well impact on their popularity as a wedding venue.

We got married at Purton church 29 years ago and held our reception here and this weekend my niece got married at The Pear Tree. This is a spectactular location, the staff were fabulous and the rooms lovely and fresh.

A fab Wedding Day - Thank you to Duncan and the Team for their support on the day. Venue was ideal for our small (50 people) winter celebration, the meal (outside catering) was delicious and the care from the staff helped us relax and enjoy the day - no worries. once set up. Last Saturday my daughter held her wedding reception here, twice postponed due to COVID-19. From us, as a family, and from all the guests comes a heartfelt 'thank you' to all the team at The Pear Tree. This runs from first contact and booking all the way through with excellent communication and helpful reassurance. On the day the ceremony room was beautiful, the Orangery magnificent. A number of us stayed overnight in very clean and comfortable rooms and enjoyed a good continental breakfast. The meal at the reception was marvellous and the staff so helpful and hardworking. So many guests have spoken to me since about the great time they had and the wonderful venue. Our thanks for making a long-awaited day so special.

Very nice wedding venue. The grounds are very pretty and great for wedding photos. The food was really good. Service was OK however, some staff were on their first day so lacked experience. On arrival had to hunt down a member of staff to check in. Continental Breakfast was good with pastries, croissants and bread freshly baked. I personally found the price of drinks expensive. Rooms were of a good standard and well dressed but very warm and couldn't leave the window open as our room was at the front of the Hotel and lots of traffic noise as well as people going home after the wedding.

Beautiful venue, was privileged to be the ring bearer for my brothers wedding. The staff are hugely helpful, polite and professional. Stunning views and grounds, food was immaculate and service was perfect. Plenty of services to accommodate 80 guests and a wonderful ceremony with some lucky weather. Forged some of the best memories and my brother and new sister in law had the best day possible.

Attended here as my son was a DJ at a wedding. Lovely setting in well kept grounds. Plenty of car park space for those that were there but not sure if it could cope with bigger events. The conservatory building where the reception was held looked lovely and the outside bar was slowly a great feature. Out of the way location but nearby main roads and motorways not that far for people travelling to an event here. The staff and managers who spoke to my son were both pleasant and helpful. An ideal place for a wedding event from what I saw.

I was at a family wedding yesterday and overall it was a lovely day. They have invested hugely in the facilities and extension. To get more stars they would need to find more space for car parking, the wedding breakfast was similar to a bbq served outside and you would get wet waiting to get served and finally the bar prices are very high. Almost 6 pounds a pint!
