We have a yearly reunion there for quite a long time this year was a compleat disaster by the proprietors the bar was not just poorly stocked it had really nothing to sell, the food as always had been excellent, this time it was a disaster and value for money was a joke it was take it or leave it AS I DID.

Absolutely brilliant venue. Daughter got married there and all guests were raving over the venue and its history. Open to public on some days as well.

The hall was built in 1516, and is still original. It's an amazing venue in York for weddings, conferences and various exhibition activities.

One of the most delightfully atmospheric places to hold a party. On top of that, attentive and unobtrusive service from really friendly management and staff, from the very first planning right through to the delivery of the event, all helped to make our event truly memorable.

Had a super visit to the hall this during this October's open day. The guides - all members were very friendly and knowledgeable and able to talk about the building and the Company of Merchant Taylors in great detail. On entry we were greeted and presented with a self guided paper guide with numbered artefacts to look out for supplementing the extensive information boards around the hall. The site has a number of halls and when you look at the structure can see how each has been added over time. The main or Grand hall is the central and largest hall with an exposed timber roof, a large fireplace, mistrals gallery and magnificent stained glass windows. To the side is the Small hall added in the 15th century and within their's the counting table eluding to the use of the hall as an early counting house. The third part is a trip up stairs to the 'Masters room' now used as the committee room. Throughout the visit we came across various copies of charters, warrants and arms granted to the company, as well as some excellent stained glass. On site theirs m/f/d toilets with good access around the ground floor and at our visit a small area selling teas/Coffee and some super cakes. Outside you can look round some of the building and to the side is the small Hospital built in 1730 to house elderly tailors. Would strongly recommend a visit if your in the city centre and do check the halls web site for future open days.

The outdoor cafe is absolutely lovely! Considering the current situation, this place has dealt with it amazingly! The food was tasty and the atmosphere pleasant!
