My husband bought me the stool workshop day as a Christmas gift. It was absolutely fantastic. The communication leading upto the day was brilliant, Emma was amazingly helpful and patient in both the weeks before and the day itself. It was such a lovely relaxed, friendly environment in a beautiful setting and not only did I come home with a stunning piece of furniture I had super good fun along the way. I cannot recommend highly enough I just wish I could go back every week. Thanks Emma and everyone involved. You're brilliant!!!

I went for an upholstery workshop with Emma. The workshop space is super cool and even though it was very chilly (you could see your breath in the air!) we survived thanks to the fire. Emma demonstrated what to do really clearly which was good as I had never done any upholstering before. She also showed me what tools and equipment I would need to start doing it myself at home so I really feel I learnt something. Emma answered all my many questions in a friendly and supportive manner and I had a really good time. I would recommend this course to anybody interested in a new creative hobby, and also to anybody who is interested in making upholstery part of their work or business. I am proud of the footstool that I made on the course and have included a picture of it in its new home. Thanks Emma for a great day and thanks Ian for the cup of tea!

This is the third course I’ve taken with Emma and it surpassed the others. It was a great experience full of laughs and learning. I met also some great people in the process. Emma has a great way of teaching and putting everyone at ease. She takes what looks very complex and turns it into something that is quite straightforward and achievable by all. I would recommend all of Emma’s courses to anyone.

Emma re-upholstered a chair that had been my grandmother's and was from the 1950's. Along with a matching small stool. The fabric suggested is gorgeous and the finished product is so lovely. She also covered a foot stool to match the fabric on our sofa. 10/10 thanks! What a lovely workshop and business!

I attended the one day Storage Crate Workshop at Semper Hopkins and had a simply wonderful day. The setting in the old chapel is lovely and we had such a nice group of people too. Emma is a fabulous teacher, everything is explained so well and you don't feel rushed at all, all safety aspects are taken into consideration as well, both for working with tools and Covid which was very reassuring. I had chosen to do the crate for our spare room and Emma was really helpful helping me select the right colours and materials. We had such fun being creative and all the while knowing we would be walking away with a piece of furniture we can keep, I even got to make my own buttons. Every time I walk past my crate I cant help but smile at what I achieved. I would highly recommend this wonderful relaxing and fun way to spend a day. Its given me a real insight into how much work goes into making proper furniture but also given me the confidence to give other projects a go. Cant wait to return and make a bench or a stool soon! PS The lemon cake was yummy!!!

Had one child's chair recovered and revamped and bought another one from the upholsterer. This second chair was frame only and had been stripped so able to choice fabric etc.to match my decor. Really pleased with both chairs they look excellent. Very good choice of fabrics and good advice given. Emma and her father are both very friendly and keen to please. A very professional job and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

***Review by Julie Turner (course date: April 2021) A truly fantastic day learning the basics of upholstery whilst engaged in a project to construct an attractive and useful storage crate - which you get to take home with you at the end of the day! Great support throughout the "build" with plenty of time to allow progress at your own pace. Booking the course was easy with great online comms, and I must say that Emma was particularly helpful when it came to re-booking as a result of the pandemic. If you will excuse the pun, the icing on the cake was a slice of Lemon Drizzle served at lunchtime - absolutely delicious! Top tip: the converted chapel can be a little cool, so do take warm clothes with you.

My daughter and I have had a fantastic day on the upholstery workshop creating a cushion for a crate to use for extra storage for any room. Great to sit on to and put your feet up! Having limited knowledge of upholstery it was a great way to learn about what tools are needed and how to go about building the cushion. The day was well planned out and every stage covered and absolutely no time pressure in fact the time flew by. What a sense of achievement getting the corners just right and the buttons perfectly in place. Above all for me was the opportunity for my daughter and I to get together to make a special memory after a year pretty much apart. A great workshop

Emma has reupholstered some egg box crates and a Otterman, plus a bedroom chair which was my late mother’s, she helped me with the choice of fabrics, colour and design. They all now look beautiful and will again be used for another generation of my family, I am so pleased with how professional, talented and helpful Emma was. When I called at Emma’s workshop her father also makes beautiful tables/ chairs etc there, a lovely table, a one off caught my eye which I couldn’t resist, so now that also has pride of place in our lounge, I just love it.
