Reviews of Church Stretton Golf Club
D. W.
Wonderfully scenic course with stunning vistas of the Shropshire Hills.
Lots of hard walking so carry light (trolleys can be exhausting).
A must play course. Good value too.
S. G.
Amazing views, great course conditions and friendly staff. At less than £20 a round this is exceptional value for money.
Z. W.
Fantastic views and brilliant, but challenging, course.
L. P.
Had a wonderful day, weather was hot, picnicking by the stream then a swim in the reservoir, plenty of walking and a thoughourly enjoyable day with friends and family,
H. E.
Loved this place, headed from Bath to Chester for a catchup with freinds and decided to have a round en route. Stumbled on this place on GolfNow and liked the cost (£20) and the flexible array of tee times.
Course has amazing scenery and is very quirky (starts with 3 par 3's) a little tough on the legs until you get up to the top but worth it! We are both fairly high handicapoers but managed to get round without losing too many balls!
We also got lucky with weather but worth taking gear if it looks like rain/wind as quite exposed.
Other players/members all very freindly as was the chap in the pro-shop, we felt very welcome from the off. A round neither of us will forget quickly, just need another excuse to head up there now!
You could pay a lot more for a lot less golf. Greens, fairways, tee boxes seemed good to me, green quickness took awhile to get used to but this will change depending on weather leading up to your round.
Highly reccomend for both the scenery, people and the golf. Will hopefully be back! Cheers

We drove up to have a look for maybe playing in the future. I've given it 5 stars as the course looked immaculate and the setting is fantastic. Pretty little clubhouse and cafe with lovely views over the hills beyond and Church Stretton below
R. S.
Very interesting and tight layout. Accurate shots required - A good test of golf amongst beautiful surroundings.
n. s.
Make sure your in decent shape as the course has some of the steepest fairways
In the country...very fast greens with some fantastic views...
C. H.
One of the most scenic golf clubs you could ever play set up on top of the longmynd hills with views for miles around.
The greens were in good shape and the course has some really interesting holes.
Really friendly, and a great Pro who couldnt be more helpful.
Lovely old clubhouse which serves great food and beers and the staff of which are really nice.
A definite must must for any golfer, especially on a nice sunny day

The golf club has a bar and cafe which is open to all. They welcome walkers and you can walk around the golf course, from which the views of Church stretton are spectacular. The food is of high standard and the staff are friendly.

Wow, what sensational views from the plateau area. Tricky course with small, fast greens. Definitely need a buggy! James in pro shop was very friendly and helpful.
I. C.
Must be the prettiest place to play golf in England. Views are extraordinary, greens true and fast, warm welcome from Professional James and well cared for in the clubhouse afterwards. Yes it's a tough climb but ask for a buggy it's well worth it.
M. a. S.
Golf course was fantastic, best views ever, difficult course to play, recommend hire a buggy, 4 hour round, three ball play at novice level.

Amazing views, challenging course, up and down. Very few trees, although I still managed to find them!
J. M.
Love this place. Possibly the most unique golfing experience to be found in England! Friendly staff, great pro, and excellent food and drink. If you get the chance to play this gem, don't hesitate!

Visited with our society and had a fantastic day!
The Pro and Caterers are very welcoming and friendly. Course is challenging (physically!), with some of the best views I’ve seen on a golf course. Loved the blind tee shots and hitting over gorges! Will definitely visit again and it’s great for societies.
T. S.
Very hard course and really windy tees and greens in good condition no par 5's all par 3&4's. Don't use a push trolley as you will regret it,we only paid £15 each with a 2-4-1 voucher. Lost 1 ball and found 4 my mate found loads.
S. D.
Haven't played here for many years but returned with Wrekin golf club senior team and fantastic to return, a very friendly club. Highly recommended.
J. M.
Good day out. An extremely unusual course with magnificent views. Tough to walk, especially when the wind blows. A very friendly club.

Stunning views. Best to carry... :)

I played Church Stretton for the first time today and really enjoyed it. The greens were excellent and even on a relatively calm day the wind presented you with different challenges to overcome selecting the right club on this exposed course. It's worth going just for the views which are absolutely stunning and it's a course I'd recommend every golfer plays but take plenty of old balls especially if it's windy.
D. R.
Really welcoming and friendly course. Probably the finest views you'll see on a course. The climb is most definitely worth it. Short yardage, but very challenging.
E. E.
What a hidden gem of a course. Made to feel very welcome from the time you meet the pro to the time you finish for a drink. Course is fantastic, not long but makes you think about your choice of club. The views are out of this world and the greens and fairways are in great condition. Many thanks for an enjoyable day at your course and look forward to seeing again very soon.

What a stunning gem of a course this is. Breathtaking views from most holes. Sheep grazing all over the course only adds to this idyllic location. Great course layout amongst the natural mountain landscape.
K. H.
Absolutely beautiful place! So much to explore. Wonderful views and plenty of quiet areas off the beaten track to sit and enjoy some peace. Also the staff in the national Trust cafe / shop are really friendly. Would definitely recommend for anyone that likes the outdoors

Stunning views and a good course
c. t.
A gem of a course , short yet tricky , having played it numerous times all year round I can say I have never seen temps and the course is virtually rain proof. Greens and fairways always seem in great condition, can be windy mid round which isn't a criticism .The views are quite amazing.
A. C.
This is a moorland course on the long mind with three par 3s to start with. Not recommend for buggies because there are steep hills both up and down. Great challenge that requires straight hitting or you are in the ferns. Alex
R. M.
Gem of course. Not too long but hilly, not just hilly but feels like you are playing on a mountain! Awesome view on just about every hole. Friendly pro and bar team.
A. B.
Quirky course but such a great place. Amazing views and friendly reception in the clubhouse and shop
L. J.
Pretty basic facilities. Friendly staff and lovely scenery. When the wind blows it is difficult to keep your feet. 4,900 very challenging yards. The course is shared with inconsiderate walkers and lots of sheep.
J. D.
Great course, good food and value for money. Locals made use feel really welcome
G. s.
Breakfast great , course more difficult than you think for a shorter course , views fantastic and the welcome was first rate
d. a.
A test of the calf muscles. On a clear day fantastic views to be had from the hills.lots of blind holes and sloping fairways, make it a tough course.
Surprised how good the greens were,as the numerous sheep have a free run around the course.Played in hot dry weather and enjoyed the round."Links golf played on hills."
Will re visit.

Played this course for the first time yesterday and we will definitely be back.Stunning views on the way up and the course itself is challenging yet enjoyable.Members made us feel at home on the course by talking to us and giving advice. One thing we realise was do not take your trollies, use the carry bag or a buggy.5*
R. B.
Fabulous course, tricky and technical, great value, friendly staff and golfers, fantastic views! Must be played!
R. C.
immense views and green's on superb condition..no other course like it in UK.. short but very challenging..Will always return.
M. S.
It must be one of the most scenic golf courses about.High up in the stretton hills the views must be spectacular. If I played golf I would definitely play here.
P. Y.
One of the hardest courses I've played .it's short ,but when it's windy ,watch out . Try walking it,you'll know what I mean .
G. W.
Terrain is a challenging walk so expect the golf is equally exciting. Views are spectacular.
P. J.
A lot of blind holes, beautiful views, challenging course!
M. D.
Very reasonable teas and coffees served to a group of us walkers, nice welcome. And we didn't even have to play golf!
B. C.
Stunning views but you do need a healthy pair of legs, some steep climbs and descents.
S. M.
Wonderful, glorious, quirky course. Stunning views, a course unlike any other. Short but can be tough. Go, play, enjoy.
C. W.

Golf on steroids 💪 friendly club but you need to be fit 😊 …
S. B.
Course immaculate, greens super fast, caught the sun and suitably pooped
K. H.
A bit chaotic, I think they must have just had a power cut, prices were reasonable, and the setting is amazing though.
