Reviews of JD Gyms Liverpool City Centre
S. J.
Out of all the gyms I have trained in in the City Centre area this is by far the best one! Clean, boss staff, boss equipment and great atmosphere. Atmosphere in classes are also great and adds onto the overall experience whether you're in them or doing your own thing! Great value for money!
M. C.
Amazing gym set out over 3 levels so plenty of space and loads of equipment! Variety of classes with high energy instructors. Friendly and helpful team for a city centre gym great friendly atmosphere highly recommend a visit.
J. G.
The equipment is at a high standard and member friendly too use. As being a previous member of staff I can guarantee that the environment is nothing but positivity and great chats, absolutely love the JD burn room they facilitate with great equipment to get creative with your workouts! Also love the gym with my chick for abit of competitive fun😎
C. F.
Great value for money with great facilities including changing rooms, sauna, showers. Amazing classes which are completely free & included in the membership. Helpful staff who are always about to give help if needed. Great gym overall :)
M. M.
This gym is amazing! The PTs are so friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you enter the gym. Particularly Rachel and Aimee's JD burn class, they are great motivators and you can clearly see that they enjoy there job and want to see you improve. Gym has a great atmosphere overall. :)
L. E.
Great gym with good equipment the only downside to the gym is that the male showers are uncomfortable to use because they are that hot it feels like you are on fire after a couple of seconds of using them. Gym staff have been asked many times to lower the temperate but still nothing has been done about how hot the showers are.
M. G.
Nice place to work out. Three different levels (ground= fitness, first floor= classes, second floor= cardio and functional area) , good quality equipment and friendly atmosphere. Professional personal trainer.
P. T.
Brilliant facilities spread across 3 floors. Had a session with Personal Trainer Theo this morning, was tough but felt great after! Highly recommend checking this place out.
V. D.
It's a good gym, has lots of equipment and zone's to workout. The only bad thing is the smell when you enter, until you get adapt to it. Takes time.
S. M.
A very impressing gym for it's value!! It even has a sauna which I love to go to everytime to relax!
D. E.
Great gym.. I moved to JD from the gym group No regrets. Friendly and very helpful AGM's.
M.
Good gym, amazing venue and quite a good variety of equipment. Few small things to complain about are the metal things to hold the weight which go constantly missing from machines and the drinking water which tastes disgusting, and the classes which are often full and there’s no way to book a spot so you have to get there 30 mins before it starts to get your spot.
R. S.
Very good gym. Can get crowded at peak hours but you expect that due to it's location.
T. W.
Great experience staff welcoming & good quality kit. Very happy to train here :)
P. P.
Very good ! Only thing that is missing in my opinion would be being open at night, for night workers it would be highly appreciated.
R. R.
Been enrolled in this Gym for 3 years and still would not change it for any other. Even though is not 24 hours like other gyms around. It is huge on the inside, has a nice sauna, lockers, its always clean and tidy as there are cleaners in since early in the morning. The staff are always very friendly, nice and keen to help anyone, from new starters to senior members. Lots of free lessons and classes are given everyday as well, so for me, its the best gym in the city centre
M. W.
Great gym, great location and friendly staff. There are plenty of machines and weights available in this three floor gym. Also, they have gone to great lengths to keep the place clean and COVID-free.
At £19.99 a month I would definitely recommend this gym.
a. a.
Very Clean, It has all the necessary equipments great location 👍🏻
M. G.
Plenty of equipment means only a short wait if you do need to wait, nice staff and more importantly almost always nice other people in the gym and not too expensive.
A. R.
Good gym. Friendly staff and ample equipment.
P. D.
Machines and everything you need is right over there.
Great variety of zones and as well, had sauna, has a boxing area, has a cycle room and as well a free zone where are the classes. As well good area with treadmills and recovery zone.
Only minus are the jerks who don't know how to behave and put back or arrange what they are using and to be more carefully with the facility or keep less busy the benches or machines while they are spending more time on their phones than training.
But that's in every gym.
However, great gym, very good price and place where to train.
E. R.
I really love this gym! The atmosphere is genuinely a nice place to be. Lots of equipment (and Vasco is the best class instructor on the planet!). The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. City centre location and reasonable membership cost you can’t really ask for more!

Clean large gym with two floors. The gym has finger print security and well equipped with many machines and peripherals. There are many classes that take place in this gym for every day of the week. The changing rooms are large and have nice clean showers, sauna and hair dryers. Peak hours it can smell and at times get a little too hot during summer.
h. f.
If I loved this gym it's mainly because of the staff. I have a PT called James that makes my days easier there. Although the gym doesn't offer as many opening hours that others, knowing that is one of the most expensive, it is big and never smells bad in the changing rooms. Machines are usually working and the middle floor is well equipped. The upper floor has everything for a good cardio session!
F. P.
Work out here now due to doing a PT course through origym. Since I've been using it it has been constantly getting updated with new gear and new rooms. They've got plenty of equipment, 3 floors and saunas in the locker rooms.
There's always staff about happy to help with any questions.

I have been a member of this gym since it first opened. I joined as place of work is close by. On the whole the gym offers everything I need. However, there have been times when standards have slipped. It took 3 months for the biceps curl machine to be fixed. At times the men's bathroom area smells of stale urine and the toilets are, at times, in a terrible state. My main grievance, however, is how inconsiderate other members are. I usually train Sat/Sun mornings and get to the gym around 8.30am. 95% of top row lockers have a padlock on them despite only a handful of people being in the gym. There should be a policy put in place along with a sign advising members that padlocks will be cut at the end of each day and that belongings will be disposed of after 24 hours
C.
I am a member. The facilities are fine as my needs are limited. Cardio machines and a wide variety of other strengthening/conditioning equipment is regularly available. Open early and late. The reason why I didn't give it 4 or 5 is that the Fitness Coaches who work there only get paid for each person they sign up, and receive no basic pay - I find it unjust and make the Gym a bad employer.
G. E.
Very good facilities but I put 60 quid into the cloud drive then discovered it was just in limbo as everything is free. I could not retrieve it by synchronous conferencing methods or by any direct communication, I knew they where in.the office, the message said we will call you back directly, after three days there was no call back.
I am with an LCC gym with a swimming pool, sauna, community based for the same price so I just contested all charges with my bank and blocked their website.
I am not going to start begging, sending emails or attempting to ho there with a disabelment to dispute charges I should never have occurred.
More coronavirus financial nonsense

One of the better gyms in Liverpool City Centre, JD Gym is modern, fresh and very trendy. At roughly £20 a month with no contract, it's excellent value for money too. The equipment is plentiful and varied. Be warned however, though they're hardly small - the changing rooms are often packed and shoulder-to-shoulder.
J. C.
Been going to this gym for 2 years. Pros; it’s round the corner from work & very reasonably priced. Cons; some staff unhelpful/unapproachable, toilet rolls are often empty, took them about 3 months to replace a toilet seat in the ladies, bodypump classes are popular but lots of members not booking leaving members who have taken the time to book with no equipment (same with spin). Bodypump equipment needs replacing; bent & rusty bars so unable to change weights quickly during the routine, feet in steps loose. Spin bikes also need an overhaul; missing straps
/cages on feet, loose & incorrectly fitted straps.
Good free weight, machine selection & cardio equipment; although incline not working on one of the large treadmills.
U.
Very aesthetic gym, would 100% recommend if you work/live in the city centre. Only reason I won't give it 5*s is because it only has 2 squat racks, 2 deadlift platforms, and 2 flat benches. Other JD gyms I have been to have had 4+ of each
s. v.
Great gym ! Not too intimidating as lots of people at various points in their fitness journey, good equipment , and free classes , excellent value for money , very clean .
R. N.
The gym is an amazing fitness community 💪
O. W.
First time going and I can already tell I'll love this gym, amazing range of equipment
R. S.
Perfect location
Friendly staff
Good facilities
B. M.
Great gym. Good selection of machines. Clean changing room and friendly staff. Not much on street parking unless after 18:30h. Used to have a coffee machine but that's gone.
C. W.
I'm not a huge fan of gyms, but JD is one of the better ones. A good mix of students, gym rats etc. Facilities are fine and there are trainers available for personal support. The location is fine for public transport.
S. C.
Love the gym and the classes here.
P. O.
The facilities are good and there are 3 floors of equipment but most of the PTs are quite rude unless you have a session with them. So if you can get past that then it's a great gym
A.
Great gym, lots of equipment - for those like me who like to know what gear they have, it includes;
Two freemotion flat bench press stations
One freemotion incline bench station
One freemotion decline bench station
Freemotion Leverage chest press (upright, hammer strength style)
Freemotion Leverage lat pulldown
Freemotion Leverage overhead press
Freemotion Leverage low row
Freemotion t bar row with chest support
T bar row with no chest support
Two squat racks (gunrack j hooks) not power racks
Plate loaded seated calf
Freemotion plate loaded v squat
Freemotion plate loaded pendulum leg press
Freemotion leg press
45 degree leg press
Two angled smith machines
Three oly platforms with separate bumper plates
Life fitness selectorised chest press, lying leg curl, seated leg curl, abductor and adductor, pulldown, dip, bicep curl, back extensions,ab crunch, fly, shoulder press, seated row and leg press - NO lateral raise, pullover or calf machine however
Loads of 4,5,7 foot oly bars (however imo low quality, not as good as the easygym rogue barbells), included a trap bar as well as two ez bars
Two lat pulldowns and two seated cable rows and at least 6 additional cable stations (crummy 80kg stacks though)
More than enough plates, but 1.25 and 2.5kg are hard to find and they definitely need to order more
Dumbbells up to 50kg
Two preacher curl stations
Two ab benches and one back extension
Prowler
Sunbed - a quid for 3 mins
Free use of hair dryers
Posh bogs :)
Imo would be perfect if they had at least one universal power rack and slightly better barbells, but all around an amazing gym.

It is a nice enough place, and enough equipment. Just not sure if it's the best gym in the area
R. S.
Good facilities and never too crowded, people are friendly enough and there's enough of a body type mix that nobody needs to feel uncomfortable. Also very well priced and convenient for the city centre.

(Translated) The ceiling is very high and it gives a cool feeling of opening, so it is easy to exercise and the zone is divided by floor.
The equipment is well-maintained, well-maintained and friendly.
(Original)
천장이 굉장히 높아 시원한 개방감을 주고 워낙 넓어서 운동하기 편리하고 층별로 존이 나누어져있어 편함.
기구도 라이프 피트니스에다 관리가 잘 되어있고 관리자가 친절함.
M. B.
(Translated) The air conditioning works great, in July it's not hot at all. The music is wonderful, not like the reggeton and the crap they play in Spain. It is clean and not overcrowded. The coaches are friendly. They have all the machines you need even though I miss a glute machine, even if it's the multihip. They have a system in which you can hire a personal trainer from the ones in the gym for you, choosing them from some tables with their data.
It has three floors and has up to four or five stair climbers, which I love because I don't have one in my gym in Valencia.
The lockers are padlocked, you can buy it there. It strikes me that they don't use a towel in the machines ...
I don't give it the five stars because to sign up you have to give an English credit card. I don't know what problem they have with you paying with a credit card from another country, but hey ...
£ 25 per month.
(Original)
