Reviews of Brockwell Lido
M. P.
Such a great pool! Although it is cold you soon get use to it just keep swimming!
Lovely warm showers at the end of the session.
Places to sun bath if your lucky with the wether.
L. C.
Despite a few transactional issues with my membership, the staff and all services at the Lido were wonderful. Plenty of space to swim as fast or slow as one wants, which is appreciated. Will definitely join back closer to spring - good luck to the brave winter swimmers!
Would recommend an update on the Fusion Lifestyle app as a major improvement (I assume this is not the Lido's job though!).
P. S.
a mixed bag: on one hand the gym, swim and spa package is fairly priced, and the pool is delightful. Unfortunately, the spa is often out of action, the gym is small and lacks equipment (as well as being busy enough to seriously impede your workout at peak times), and sadly at times the staff seem disinterested.
A. A.
Great place to swim and gym all year round. The pool is large and in good condition (but be aware it is unheated so prepare wetsuits for winter months) and is surrounded by lockers and places to spectate and lounge in summer. However, the changing room could be cleaned more often but I do appreciate the warm showers and hair dryers.
Inside the building is a surprisingly large gym and small spa area. Lots of machines and rooms for classes (but classes aren't included in many of the memberships - myself and my partner have the joint gym and swim membership which gives access to the lido, gym and spa and costs about £77 a month). The spa has a hydrotherapy pool, a steam room and a sauna in addition to loungers and showers.
At the minute members still have to book time slots to use the facilities (and are subject to a charge if you don't turn up or cancel within the hour of the slot). Be aware that even as members swimming slots are booked very quickly so you have to be ready to check the app as soon as slots become available. Sad that the pool is closed after the sun sets as they don't have outdoor lights which means I can't use it after work from September, but you can still go early mornings or weekends.
P. T.
Great swimming, very nice pool and well looked after. It's COLD!! a bit tricky to book
K. D.
Awesome! Gorgeous pool, spacious and never overcrowded in the beautiful setting of Brockwell Park. Great way to spend a sunny day. The pizzeria café is excellent too. Highly recommend!
R. T.
One of my favourite places to meet friends and get coffee. Located overlooking the lido and sitting on the edge of the beautiful Brockwell Park, the cafe feels like a little escape from London. The coffee is good and the menu is affordable. It’s popular with young parents during the day which can sometimes make it a bit noisy. There’s an outside space which is great in summer. On the downside the toilets are usually pretty grim and the door closer is broken which can make it a bit drafty on colder days.
n. l.
Can never wax lyrically enough about the joys and delights of outdoor swimming. Brockwell is one of the best....2.5km get it done! With sun, it's delicious....staff very helpful and looking out for everyones safety 👍🙏
v. c.
Big pool. Good service, avoid during the summer, is absolutely packed. Not now during covid or post covid, but when things are nor restricted, the pool is absoly rammed.
In order to get a swim, you must book.
The gym and the sauna are ok.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
D. l.
Absolutely amazing pool. Loved it so much and wish we had something like this where I lived.
People of southeast London you are so lucky to have this stunning pool on your doorstep.
A. S.
I recently joined with a month membership almost a week ago, I’m there almost everyday. I use the gym for cardio mainly treadmill always plenty machines available never really seen the gym over crowded even been there Saturday and Sunday plenty space! The lido on the other hand can be packed if the weather is good but there’s lanes separated for swimming which is great. I love it so far the only annoying thing I found when you want to go from the gym to the pool or other way around you’ll have to go through the gates through reception that I find a bit of a journey, maybe I just didn’t find the shortcut yet! Great place to get some extra exercise, thinking to try one of the classes as well
E. L.
Went to a baby class for pre-crawlers with Whippersnappers, based inside the Lido building. Baby enjoyed the lights and the instruments. Room was clean and comfortable. I'll take baby back again. There's a Car park on the park just outside the building.
C. T.
Who wouldn't want a cold swim?
Your blood flows, you feel alive, you know what I mean?
Come to Brockwell Lido when you can,
you will have an opportunity to show your fading tan.
I have to say that changing rooms could be more clean,
and I don't say this to be mean.
Make sure to pack flip flops and a towel in your bag,
bring your phone camera so on Instagram you will brag.
E. C.
It's a lovely lido and the staff always seem nice but the facilities let it down. Toilets and showers are frequently out of order, and on last count about half the lockers don't work. Women's changing rooms are crowded. The drinking fountain is also 'temporarily unavailable' due to covid which doesn't make much sense.
J. S.
Done a couple swims here now, lovely vibe, sauna if you're chilly afterwards, helpful staff and regulars brimming with tips. Get the before 10 for a cheaper swim!
I. K.
One of London's absolute treasures. Not only is this pool pristine and well run, it also has an incredible cafe and is situated in a beautiful park. Whether you fancy flexing your swimming muscles (in the 'slow, medium and fast lanes') or just want an escapist dip - this is the ultimate spot. The pool isn't heated so bring some cozy clothes to warm up after. Lifeguards are on duty year round.
A. H.
Great local gym, half the price of more commercial places. Massive outdoor pool (if you’re brave enough) along with simple sauna / steam / hydro pool.
E. T.
Love the whole experience, limited facilities because of Covid, but there is a shower. 50m Pool not heated but you soon get used to it, plenty of space, and great coffee shop. Disappointed with their booking system.
D. H.
We love this place. The family slot is great. Takes some courage to jump in the cold water, but once you're in its great. Alot of space around the pool as well. And a nice cafe/pizzeria
P. R.
Great long pool for swimming, amazing setting. Would be nice if there were a few more seats to sit in the sun after a swim, but it's an invigorating experience and you always feel good afterwards.
T. M.
I have had a fantastic last few months at the pool. The pool is clean, the staff will do anything to help. Just a great bunch of people. The booking is easy. Which i never thought i would say as i am kicking the arse of ninety and and using a computer or phone is not my thing. . So really just a thankyou for making my life bearable during this time. Tracy.
R. W.
50m outdoor pool. Nice place - good location and a scaled pricing ( a lot cheaper before 10am and after 6pm).
Sometimes the reception staff can be a bit grumpy but overall good
D. B.
Blue sky, Autumn trees, 12c in the water. Perfect start to a November day. Shame about the changing room.
D. A.
When I arrived reception just asked for my name and email address. Worth bearing this in mind if you want to minimise the amount of stuff you bring with you. On my visit the changing rooms were closed and the poolside lockers require a pound coin. The pool itself is great but the lockers were not clean.
B. S.
Huge, great unheated pool for outdoor swimming. Reasonable facilities. Needs more maintenance around the resting areas as plants and leaf debris are out of control. You must book.
N. H.
Great pool, but expensive for a swim £8. Prefer if they had standard size lanes to allow more swimmers rather than at least double wide lanes (even before C-19).
Hot outdoor showers a dream!
M. G.
Lovely place for an outdoor swim
R. M.
Jump in the water, you won’t regret it… after a few lengths
M. K.
Was delighted that the lido managed to stay open even with covid 19 tier 4 restrictions. You do have to book to get a swim and get changed on side of pool as changing rooms are closed. There is a hot outdoor shower which comes in handy. Lanes are VERY wide so plenty of space to avoid bumping in to anyone. There are plenty of cycle racks to park your bike outside.
C. M.
A great place. Water is cool, which is perfect on a hot summer's day & cafe is stylish and solid.
Building could use a slight face-lift in parts.
s. m.
it is a fantastic place to go ing the summer
(and on any day you find extremely hot). The water is cold but you can get used to it very quickly, and it has a caffè/pizza place right next to it.
N. M.
Banging post swim rhubarb pizza.
Top cuppa tea and happy staff crew.
See you again soon 🤟🏼
N. R.
Nice pool. Was quiet the day I went there so I enjoyed!
M. L.
Best place to swim and staff friendly and very helpful .
K. S.
Didn't swim, but a pretty good cafe.
A. G.
Lakaydia was amazing in helping me sort a swim today! So efficient and helpful. I really needed a swim and she didn't give up in helping me sort membership.
M. H.
Loved the outside swim. Freezing cold but absolutely Brill fun and the warm shower afterwards was most welcome!
N. L.
Open and great to see the water is now clean. Only to remind you it is very cold. Good for early mornings when the mist envelopes the parkland. There's a cafe inside, 400 Rabbits, that do takeaways.
L. R.
Great pool for outdoor swimming. The surrounding building makes for a fantastic setting for a swim. The changing rooms for the pools were good and well kept. Only complaint is there are no baby changing in the pool changing room, so had to keep my toddler always on my lap as I got him dressed.
J. L. B.
Wonderful well maintained facility at the hub of the community. Top rated
K. N.
Was a member here as this is our local gym and pool. Facilities are okay and the pool is great, especially in the summer BUT... Members can’t get proper use from the ingested outdoor pool on hot days because they sell tickets to the general public which means it’s so rammed you can’t swim or enjoy the place. The other day it was so overcrowded the police had to be called which points to the degree of mismanagement of the pool situation on sunny days. We pay an absolute fortune for year round membership and should expect to enjoy the pool when the sun is out. It feels like greed has taken over and they just want to cram in as many ppl as possible. Make your minds up, either you are a members gym or public access but can’t have both.
S. S. W. T. P. D.
Excellent place to go with kids but you need to pick your time. In the summer holidays it can be extremely stressful and the hygeine isn't always up to standards. Having said that they do run very popular classes and taking our toddler and new baby in quieter times has been an absolute pleasure!
L. A.
Once you get there 5 stars. Booking a swim? O. Slowest and most frustrating website I've... *Checks annals of web browsing since the 90s* used since the 90s
M. Z.
Due to vivid the changing rooms and some of the facilities are closed and you need to book in advance for a strictly scheduled time slot,
This time if year (September) is the best as it's less busy than full summer but still balmy evenings with a late sunset meant by drying outside was a lovely experience, all the punters are very friendly and accommodating too.
W.
Been a member for about 5 years, they've improved the equipment in the gym but the toilets are always smelly, they showers are dodgy and they often have problems with the water. For such a pricey gym I'm not sure you get your money's worth, it's convenient for me but I'm sure I could get a better gym for the money. The outdoor pool is great when it's hot but that's so rarely so it's not really a bonus for me although people do swim in the freezing water all year round.
M. M.
Nice big open space to relax and exercise if you want to. There are also a few things of interest . All in all a nice park.
P. S.
I love swimming here is a good place to relax and enjoy over the summer but also you can go in winter and now there is a pizzeria just there, so you can have pizza drinks etc etc!!! Go and try is just in Brockwell Park Entrance by the carpark.
E. P.
Vast lido in South London, great for out-of-season lane swimming if you can take the cold - unheated water! Changing rooms are small and cramped, but atmosphere is friendly. Lockers poolside.
D. T.
There was a queue of about 12 people at 7:50am for Bank Holiday opening at 08:00. There seemed to be some problem with processing credit cards so I used cash to get in more quickly. Lido Mike gives swimming lessons here. There is a gym and a cafe. The 50m pool looks great first thing in the morning, 6 lanes wide with the usual anti clock-wise swimming. 3 people in wet suits, at a water temperature of 19.5C it feels chilly and you need to keep swimming to keep warm. Brockwell Lido is on Twitter @Brockwell_Lido and they tweet the water temperature each day when they open, the pool is not heated. Clean changing rooms, warm showers and a spin drier for your swimming trunks. I took my clothes outside and left them on a bench where I could see them. The car park has marked wheelchair spaces but I did not look inside the lido for wheelchair accessible features. The car parking app they use is JustPark
B. D.
Even on the hottest day of the year, so far, and despite queuing for 25 minutes before getting to the pool this is a delightful, clean and well organised lido. The lanes were wide with friendly, polite swimmers and the water at 19C was a great temperature for a longish swim. Thanks Brockwell, a hidden gem in London. Thanks Lido Guide, published last month, for tipping us off.
S. R.
Fab pizza and pretty amazing bloody Mary at 400 rabbits. Brunch next to the pool may be the closest I get to a holiday for a while
C. D. T.
Very nice spa. Good place for a workout or a spa day. It is located inside a large park which you can combine gym and jogging to your visit. Large Lido (outdoor pool) which is great during the summer months.
L. B.
It was great day it was in aid of cancer 5k walk in the park i enjoy the day everyone have a good day out
L. Z.
Bring a peg to put on your nose because the toilets are gross and they stink and the stench wafts merrily across the whole pool area. Other than that, nice big pool, always happy vibes.
S. A.
💛💛💛
G. B.
Great to see the lido reopened. It felt very safe and clean. Limited numbers, one way system etc. Really enjoyed our swim.
C. P.
Beautiful space, however the changing rooms are always a bit gross, and need hosing much more frequently... they've also had issue copping with water supplies in the showers when too many people are using the pool and the gym... and you stand there for a good 15 minutes waiting for the water to flow again.
A. B.
Good gym and outdoor pool, however, lots of room for improvement. Wifi is always down, kit dryer always broke, never any kit bags, staff are moody, lifeguards unprofessional. But all in all there isn't much choice in the area, so if you want a proper workout this is the only option.
c.
It's such a gorgeous place and I love the people you can meet there. That water is chilly, but you'll thank yourself for braving it. Great staff.
V. S.
I have to say it's a nice lida which was ideal for this summers heatwave, I went pre school summer holidays and it was still busy but considering the weather it wasn't a surprise. I do feel the entrance fee is a tad expensive and if you're travelling by car and there is no parking at the lido itself then you'll will have to park on the road and the parking charge is extortionate especially if you're at the lido for 3+ hours but nonetheless it's still a nice experience.
L. S.
A good park to have a long walk around. Benches on higher ground are good to sit and look ahead.
J. M. S.
Good pool., Beautiful park for enjoy with the family.
A. I.
Never answer calls, never say "hi" at the reception. Some classes are good tho, especially boxfit and hiit, but the gym itself is very average. Changing rooms and toilets are not clean, gloves for box stink
R. L.
One of the best places to be in London on a hot summer day.
F. D.
Such a lovely lunchtime break spot. I work nearby so was able to come down during lunch and lie in the sun and enjoy a clean, easy going afternoon at Brockwell lido. Sun, swimming and hot chips from the cafe after - really what more could you ask for.. in inner city London.. it’s pretty amazing 😉
G. B.
Great pool, wish it had flood lighting to extend opening hours. Ladies showers don't always work, but really good to have 50m pool locally.
M. W.
Good food and coffee in cafe
M. L. H.
This is a winter swimming review: This place rocks! I spent a weekend as a tourist in London in late march 2017, and went swimming saturday and sunday morning. 10 c water, sunny sky, likeminded people, nice little sauna, you tell me what is not to like? A woman I met told me she swims 2-3 times a week all year, and she does one lap per degree in the water. Many of the people frequenting this place are likely tough as nails and they all have a mentality and curiosity about challenging themselves that I find admirable. The summer swimming there I don`t know much about, because in the summer it is too warm and crowded to swim, would need to cool it down with an ice berg. 5 thumbs up, ehh.. I mean 5 stars!
v. a.
Very clean pool but poor quality changing rooms, not that clean, not a lot of places to change clothes and only one toilet since the other 2 where not working.
O. M.
Nice Lido - mainly for the summer. Waters not 100% clean but maybe that's the OCD in me! Quite a big pool, it's got all the amenities. There is a nice 'club house' which can also host children's parties (in a side room). There is also a gym there too!
There is a small car park out front as well or easily reachable by public transport (Herne hill station).
J. D.
Love it here. Very busy during the summer but you can swim all year round. Only for brave souls
T. C.
Brrrrrrrr... This pool is a chilly one so be prepared to brace yourself for the frosty waters. 50m in length with just enough lanes so its manageable during busier sessions. The pool switches to a winter time table in September so make sure to check opening times.
T. W.
the coolest thing I did over the past year - literally
A. H.
I really love brockwell lido. It does get very busy towards the summer , and wait time can be around 1 hour , but the vibe is great and service is always nice and professional. It is very safe with about 6 or 7 lifeguards, who are visibly focused. Plenty of freedom allowed with ballgames played, inflatable toys floating about , water guns and jumping into the pool practised. Indoors you've got some pretty rad food and ice cream options in the cafe. Fun times !
G. C.
The paddling pool here has fountains and a nice grassy area to sit on, it is also fenced off so no dogs can get in. We visited here on the 44th annual county show . It is free entry for everyone . All can attend young and old . Brockwell Park has always been beautiful and has always hosted the annual Lambeth Country Show for as long as I can remember.
K. M.
Best place to go and swim outdoors!! Plenty of space to keep a safe distance from other people, while in the same time being able to have fun!!!
5***** experience Highly recommended !!!
A. H.
The gym itself is ok- pretty small with limited space for stretching or work on the mats. Jacuzzi is often cold and out of use and showers are frequently not working. Reception staff are SO rude- they literally could not care less when things are not working and ignore you when you walk in.
Unfortunately there are not really many alternatives in Brixton- fitness first is even worse!
Would not recommend.
S. D.
I went here last summer and it was quite crowded but what a relief
from the heat! The cafe did me a favor as they said that they were full so I went over the road to the pub which was wonderful.
G. M.
Lovely outdoors pool with great cafe/pizza bar 😀
P. R.
Never actually swimmmed here, I went for an antique fair. Great minimal and deco arquitecture. Cool and understated. The cafe, - restaurant serves great food. In summer or a hot day would be great with Brixtonians types hanging around...
A. B.
Unhelpful, unfriendly staff and filthy changing room marred my experience of this pool. Not likely to return when there are other lidos in London which are so much more welcoming.
A. B.
Wake up London and please see this amazing pool for what it is. 50 metres of glorious outdoor unheated swimming pool topped with cafe/bar to defrost if you are daft enough to swim in the middle of winter. This is an absolute gem that could only afford to exist in London. If you want to flex yours pecs or show off your tan the go elsewhere. Busier than a Marbella beach in July at the mearest hint of sunshine, only the true south London hardcore show up at other times because they have special powers! :)
M. “. R. R.
Excellent swimming Pool. Staff are polite. Booked in very fast. Only thing the water is colder than normal.
J. S.
Lovely non-heated lido with friendly staff, users and plenty of lanes to swim in for all levels!
J. “. g. M.
Brockwell park was the only bearable piece of lambeth I found. The swimming pool is an art deco masterpiece of social genius. But it's in London; a vile carbunckle on the face of planet earth.Get out while u can.
After a good swim and a walk.
J. N. R.
Great place. Been in summer - best to get there early as gets busy and you'll queue if you turn up later. Good atmosphere and great swimming.
T. S.
Lovely, clean pool. Cafe and facilities are welcoming and very nice. Plenty of space to sit by the pool. The pool did get quite busy but it became more relaxed towards the evening.
C. J.
Beautiful open air swimming pool with a lovely little café (extremely child friendly) next to it offering a healthy fare. The park is fantastic for children
E. F.
Been going to this gym since it opened, always been happy, small, unpretentious with friendly and helpful staff.
R. B.
wonderful lido and fantastic cafe next door
k. f.
Really nice place to swim a couple of lanes. As it is not heated, it can get really cold though, went a couple of times when I could not stay longer than twenty minutes as it was extremely cold...
S. W.
Swimming in the open air - what's not to like? I just wish the cafe was accessible from the side of the pool. Learn a lesson from Tooting Lido
L. D.
Nice place to visit and can pop to the lido on a sunny day with children
E.
I enjoyed my visit here, after a parkrun it was nice to got into the cool water. However changing rooms I did not enjoy, no cubicles and stinky.
N. P.
Always a joy to visit. Excellent customer service always.
2 hours free parking.
B.
Tooting Bec Lido is better, it's a shame that Brockwell couldn't combine the lido and park areas together, that's why tooting gets my vote, as you can have a swim then avail yourself of the grassy park area as many times as you want, here you pay to get into the lido then you have to exit the lido to enjoy the grassed areas outside and if you feel like another swim you have to pay again to get into the lido 😟.
L. W.
Lovely pool area in the summer, gets quite busy. With a great gym next to the pool for those who want to workout beforehand.
P. H.
Nice pool on the edge of Brockwell park. Gets crazy busy in summer, so you're best off getting there early to avoid the queue (or have a gym membership)
C. H.
Love it so much. Not too expensive, especially before work. The cafe is great. A lovely piece of London's history.
S. M.
Brixton’s beach. Love this place. We get here early on hot summer days so the kids can have some space to play before the queue becomes massive.
A. P.
Good food. Nice, chilled environment. Great music!
V. R.
Large, lots of lifeguards. Friendly atmosphere. The pool was not too chlorinated, which we appreciated. Would definitely go back
S. M.
Nice open air London lido. Spacious but rammed on sunny days. In the summer holidays expect the lido to be overrun with families with screaming splashing children.
D. c. B.
Clean and spacious, the spa was the lick.
H. G.
On a spring or summer day, this place is paradise for any SW Londoner! Fantastic little gym here too 💪
D. D.
Very peaceful and good place to get back to nature and relax
V. A.
Huge pool and really nice gym but swimming changing rooms are a bit grim
F. D. S. R.
Olympic size swimming pool perfect for those hot summer days or if you are brave also for the winter.
B. K.
What a lovely place. I have feel like on holidays:) great music
R. V.
Great swimming facilities and a cute little cafe with a broad range of vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommendable!
S. D.
Windrush aquathlon well organised at this venue. Shame about the cafe staff being very unhelpful. Other staff very friendly & pleased to help.
G. T.
Had a lovely swim. All facilities clean. Reception staff could have been more friendly.
J. B.
Fabulous outdoor pool. Changing facilities are excellent and nice cafe to warm up after a cold December swim.
P.
I was at lido and there was about 20 people waiting to get in and he wouldn't let anyone in because ' a few kids came and abused him' so he shut the down pool and never let us in
h. b.
It is great here the water is nice and cold I am going back in now,Wow!!!😎
D. E.
Outdoor pool, 50m length, all year round open. Pool not heated. Friendly local crowd.
P. S.
Lovely outdoor 50m pool. Wide lanes for serious swimming. Great Café.
O. L.
Excellent spot for a dip, lovely building. Can get super busy on hot days in the holidays but I've never queued more than half hour.
J. W.
Great place friendly staff tasty food
D. V.
Nice pool but for 6 pounds per visit you would expect at least clean and working toilets.
M. D.
Fantastic park! Very large. Very dog friendly. Lots to explore. It even includes a dirt bike course!
m. m.
Olimpic size lots of people but managed to swim in my own pace (medium slow) like it
O. R. E.
They have super great breakfast menu and I love the view from the pool
It’s a great local community cafe
J. A.
Good gym but do not believe the opening hours - you are kicked out at 21:30 every night
T. W. T.
I was so impressed, very good place indeed nice and clean park
B. B.
Great prices and loved the sauna even if it was abit cramped! Any chance of a steam room?
F. P.
The Lido is good but it's too expensive
C. C.
Coooold but good fun.. and thank goodness still open.. clean and nice friendly staff.
T. B.
A really good gym with amazing spa but the place really needs a good clean in the spa the wood pieces look really old and dirty and the place just need a makeover
A. d. D. -. M. A. L.
Good place and good service
C. C.
Super fun, but very busy, the changing rooms are very stuffy but the pool is big and cold and it was so fun
D. D.
Massive pool, 50m, great lay out, very covid safe
C. N.
Amazing swimming pool but I can give 5 because I couldn't have access to the cafe shop from the pool.
R. C.
Fantastic day for family.
So nice to take a long relaxing walk after work.
E. F.
Very nice...excellent park..
T. H.
Wish they could stay open during lock down, missing my evening swims.
D. J. G.
Very nice gym, and good customer service sometimes, lovely outside swimming pool. But this gym is expensive.
