Reviews of Fitness4Less Cambridge Heath
S. R.
Located under the railway arches of Cambridge Heath station, it’s very easy get to. There’s plenty bus stops around it as it’s in the corner of a busy cross junction. If you prefer to drive then there’s free parking after 5:30pm and all day Sunday’s.
It looks very small from the outside, as you can’t see how many arches they’ve taken. But it’s actually quite long and also us a women’s only workout area if the ladies prefer segregation. They have great equipment, enough space and also a spacious changing room with a sauna inside it. The shower cubicles are the biggest non-family cubicles I’ve seen! The neon lights everywhere makes the place feel alive, even when there’s not many people in the gym (gives you good energy for a good workout). The staff there are really friendly too!

Recently joined and this gym has exceeded my expectations. The staff all seem so lovely. On my first day, the receptionist was so helpful and so informative. I had asked her alot of questions and she was so patient and answered it all without feeling annoyed😭. F4L allow you to book a free 30 minutes session with a PT and I chose Angela. Honestly, she was amazing! Made me feel at ease and less nervous being at the gym. During our session, Ange kept ensuring I was okay and making sure it wasn't too much for me. Cannot wait to book her in the future, she definitely made me feel like I was doing a great job when working out which boosts me even more to go and work on my body. They literally have such great staff and not to forget the perks. Also to add, the females only gym has quite alot of machines and the fitting room is massive alongside sauna inside. They allow you to bring a guest for free for 1 day, which is great. My friend came and she joined the gym after her free 1 day pass. Only small problem I have is I wish there was a separate entrance to the females only gym without having to past the mens gym area but either than that, cannot fault this place.
S. N.
Came today and the person(female) receptionist at the front was so lovely. Was my first time today and she made me feel very welcome. As its my first time, not sure what I was expecting. Sadly on the F4L website when I registered no indication of downloading an app but she was so lovely and broke it down for me and answered all my questions. Made me feel at ease. There is womens gym here which is great which is why I joined. Only issue is, to get to the female gym you have to walk past the main bit which is where all the men are working out. Will find a way if theres any other way of going to females only gym without having to do that long embarrassing walk lol. You get free 30 mins PT session if you book in advance which is great. There are lockers you can use if you get your own lock pad. Sauna is inside the changing room along with showers etc. Would definitely recommend based on service from first experience, thank you!

Been a member for over a year. One of the cheapish gym memberships in East London. Loads of machines to work your muscles from head to toe. Keepfit classes, Spin, power pump to name a few. Women's only gym is gr8 but needs to update the machines. Cleaning staff continuously cleaning. Always antiseptic spray and wipes available. Hand sanitisers on most wall point. Lovely, friendly staff. Women's and men's only sauna. Clean showers. Large lockers. My favourite gym to date. I highly recommended. Up date the women's only gym space and I will repost with 5 stars.
M. E.
My happy place.
This gym is so nice, very affordable membership plans, very clean and the steam room, the showers and the locker area are very clean and decent space.
T.
Nice gym, I really like that I have the option to either be in the main gym or go to the only women’s side. Classes are also really fun and great, I really liked boxfit and zumba.
B. G.
I've been a member for a few months. Great range of free weights and machines. The staff are friendly. What keeps me coming back is the female-only area and the sauna. Excellent value for money.
Taking off one star because free weights tend to be scattered everywhere (more so in female-only area) and the bathroom smell.
F. C.
Clean, spacious, lady's only gym facilities, personal trainers are really kind and helpful.
m. a.
Best gym friendly staff reasonable price.
R. V.
Best gym I've ever attended. I've been a member for 2 years and sadly stopped since the pandemic. I love all the classes and the PT are all wonderful and approaching people. This is the best value for money I ever got and I highly recommend it to newbies and pros. Love that the gym equipment is new and the gym us kept clean. Shout out to Andy, Marcella, Chris M, Chris K(can't remember your last name muay thai guy) and the guy who does boxing(i really can't remember your name but you know who you are)
L. M.
Joined as women only section - basic but has what you need. Been a member of many gyms over the last few years but this is my favourite.
Much better than you would expect for the price, although a student discount would be appreciated, as it's not much less at £27 than Pure Gym that i was a member of and got a discount for.
Staff friendly, everyone down to earth and welcoming. Fantastic cleaning staff too and changing rooms always well looked after.
J. W.
Great value!! I love the (very varied) classes, and the staff is always nice and welcoming! I have never used the showers/sauna so I can’t review cleanliness but the rest of the gym is always very well maintained. I have never heard of a gym that cheap with such quality classes.
H. T.
Exactly what I was looking in a gym.
Male and female separate, sauna and plenty of classes
E. H.
Are you going to get better gyms? Certainly. For this price, in London? No - this is very good value.
Yes, the toilets don't smell amazing, and there could be a better variety of equipment, and more space. But when you're paying ~£30/month for a central location, you can't complain.
Z. B.
Love the space in the gym, and the range of equipment.
They need to look at cleanliness and keeping the equipment from looking overused and tired
D. M.
Nice cheap gym. Nothing special but does the job. Really quiet due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Has the machines I need for my exercises and routine but they could do with some new equipment and more space !
G. G. C.
Great value for money! Only thing is that the gym is always incredibly messy. Weights (and every other type of equipment imaginable that can be moved) are in the wrong place 9 times out of 10. I've never seen any staff doing a quick tidy in my 9 months of using the gym 6 days a week. This is the first gym i've ever been to that clearly doesn't care one bit about orderliness which is a huge shame as it prob would've got 4/5 star if not for that!
V. G.
Good Gym, equipped with everything you need.
Great Ladies area!
Affordable short term memberships possible, which is a big plus for me. The only negative aspect: it's super busy in peak times, I do not recommend to go there around 6pm on weekdays.
W. D. T.
Gym is pretty cool and modern.
Atmosphere can be hostel at times as the male dominate the free weight section. For a man, you have to be confident in this area to use the equipment and the same with women.
You get what you pay for with the basics of equipments, however I love that the dumbbells max they have is 60 gigantic kg, excellent for strong lifters!
L. D.
Good gym, has decent sized weights section, loads of machines, has a sauna and it’s clean.
If I could suggest anything it would be to have a lot more barbel weight plates that are different sizes according to their weight.
At the moment most weight plates are the same size and it leads to disorganisation, makes it hard to find what I need and hard to add more weight when the barbell is on the floor.
Also, there is one tv that has been on “demo” mode for 2 months, PLEASE turn it off it’s driving me mad! 😂
J. H.
Really disappointed to see that a few people have given this gym low ratings.
In my opinion the gym is great. Value for money considering the location and hours it's open till. Staff always smiling, willing to listen and help if you have any questions/queries/issues.
They've revamped the whole place, it now has a sauna (which I haven't used so can't really comment), extra treadmills and these funky bikes that I never use. General members are friendly and are happy to show you the correct use of the machines if staff are unavailable, no one's perfect and some members do leave weights lying around but that's not the fault of the gym or staff (staff do go about cleaning and tidying up other people's mess tbh).
Staff are willing to show you around the gym before you sign up so everything's fairly transparent and you know what you're signing up to so no stress. Don't be put off by negative comments - come and make up your own conclusion.
Take care.
T. A.
Best gym in the area. Prices are cheap. Equipment is solid. Cardio section is nice and clean. Overall if you want a good workout best place.
T.
Great gym and greatly laid out. For 18 quid a konth it is well worth it...even if you only use it in weekends. The classes are really good even if you go alone. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone who considers joining. Good set up of weights and it even has a studio!
Showers are nice and clean.
J. T.
Great facilities! Have previously paid alot more at other gym chains for much the same thing, so it's amazing value here!
Agree with the previous reviews that the weights are a complete mess all the time, but that's the lazy members, not the staff. It doesn't take long to look around for what you need anyway. I typically go during off peak times, so can't really comment on how busy it gets. Off peak, I always have the free space/equipment required.
Please, please, please instal a deadlift area. Currently have to do this behind the squat racks and it's unstable/unsutiable.
Special shout out for Lucil's "BodyBlitz" class on Sunday mornings at 10.30. For an intense cardio session of kicking and punching the air, would definitely recommend trying it.
J. R.
Another great Fitness4Less gym. Roomy and lots of weights. Great that they have a sauna in mens and ladies too. The Classes are great here and again, you cannot beat the value for money.
S. Z.
Very inexpensive for what it is, some of the classes are great! However the gym really didn't inspire me much to go. The womens area has such potential but doesn't have the machines that I'd say women are most nervous to use: squat rack and bench press. There is a smith machine but it's a slanted one and not the best for squatting. The main gym floor is very busy and quite hard to get the machines you want. Some machines are a bit old/rickety like the stairmaster. However for the price this gym is great and the staff seem nice
j. A.
Super friendly and helpful staff
Gym is spacious, lots of different machines
Ventilation could be better though
J. M.
Just joined very good gym at good prices. if you are looking for such a prestigious gym why don't you go Virgin Active or some other premium gym this is a basic gym but it is amazing. Also perfect for cost-conscious people who don't want to spend a fortune for a gym where they hardly go to.
A.
Great staff, friendly and helpful.
Quick, efficient and easy access to a gym with a reasonable set of equipment. Most the members don't seem to know or want to put weights back after use... Ever. Very busy during peak times so plan ahead if you are in a rush/have limited amount of time to work out. Cambridge heath overground train station just outside the gym giving you access to Liverpool Street/Central London, and Seven Sisters/North London within 10/15 mins
A. O.
My local Gym. I love it here. You have got all sorts of Gym equipment here and once you are a member you got lots of classes. Can be very busy at times. Very clean. Staff are really helpful. Well worth the membership fee that I pay. There are really good personal trainers that you can get private classes from which comes with a price. Free water fountain and shower facilities. Entertainment screens where you can watch Freeview tv channels or listen to Radio channels you could also play games or monitor your calories.
K. T.
You can't beat the value offered at this gym. The classes are all included and offer a variety with passionate instructors. They add new equipment often and keep on top of any equipment issues. Overall I think this is an excellent gym for the fee.
P. E. J.
Pros:
* Cheap
* Friendly
* Many classes which are generally not fully booked (except yoga which always seems to be fully booked)
* Fun teachers (for Spin and Boxfit — I haven't tried other classes)
Cons:
* No space for deadlifts. Most people deadlift in front of the squat racks since it's the only free area but the floor is uneven meaning the barbells roll around. Ideally they would install proper deadlift mats and remove the sled track since nobody uses it.
* Busy in the evenings (fair enough, you get what you pay for)
* Nobody puts their weights back. This is extremely annoying and worse than most gyms. I wish there was some kind of disciplinary action against members who consistently do this.
* Poor variety of lunchtime classes compared to evening
* 7AM weekday opening is a bit late — other gyms typically open at 6:00AM or 6:30AM. This makes it harder to squeeze in a pre-work workout
H. U.
Clean and friendly gym, it dont matter where you train it matters how you train. It has all the tools needed to improve your fitness goals and this place has improved over the last few years with a renovation and addition of a sauna.
K.
Basic gym space with a female only area which holds some treadmills, cross trainers and rowing machines as well as a few resistance machines. Access is through the female changing area so it's very much separate from the main gym. Main gym space has a large selection of equipment and 2 studios, one dedicated to spin and one for everything else (think body pump style classes and yoga, among others). Also a dark cardio room with a large screen to watch music videos. Changing areas always clean and membership is super cheap.
M. R.
Been going for almost 3 years, brilliant classes, dedicated trainers if you show interest they will too. Normal really. Women only gym area, 6am starters like me can be happy in this environment. Basic and good showers, large gym equipment, staff always friendly, happy place. People go to work out x
f.
Great classes. Unfortunately even when the gym is not packed using equipments can be quite frustrating especially in ladies gym area. V small. Messy. Toilets are always dirty. Luckily I don't have a permanent membership. However staff are v friendly.
B. C.
I have a real love hate relationship with this gym. It's unbearably busy unless you are there as the doors open (which I try to be) although it is only £20 a month and you get what you pay for, with not any real competition this end of Bethnal Green.
They recently refurbished the gym although this involved a lick of paint and replacing a few of the machines - the ladies only area STILL HAS NO SQUAT RACK. No one wants to do squats with a Smith Machine. LADIES LOVE TO SQUAT. There are also no free weights in the ladies area except for a couple of those Body Pump bars and some light dumbbells. No benches for chest press.. etc.
They have also put in a track and prowler in a really unsafe place. It's a nice bit of kit to have but it needs to be in an area which isn't where people walk/work out otherwise you won't be able to use it without a) injuring someone or b) stopping/starting which defeats the object of a prowler run.
BUT: for £20 it's pretty good and does the job. Ladies area which can be a bit of a sanctuary when the gym is really busy but the equipment in this space is really sub par and feels like an afterthought. Rest of the gym is pretty no frills. Classes if you want them although I did a couple of the yoga classes when I joined and they were very basic.
Oh and hardly anyone puts their weights away. It's a safety hazard leaving fully loaded bars in the middle of the gym floor and also pretty annoying having to run around the gym finding matching plates (particularly smaller ones, I just bring my own 1.25kgs). It's even like this when I turn up on opening so it's clear that no one bothers to walk around and clear away a few things on closing/prior to opening.
But still.. £20 a month.
a. k.
Pros: Good price. Free classes. Mostly clean.
Cons: Women's side doesn't have enough equipment which is a shame because most women choose to work out there rather than the mixed spaces. Gets very cramped. Impossible to get a machine some days. The equipment isn't as good on the women's side either. Mixed side has better version of cross trainers and treadmills etc. Less of a variety. Really wish women's side had a steps machine.
C. W.
Great staff, ladies only gym as well as mixed rooms. Great value for money.
C. T.
The refurbishment is amazing. It looks Fantastic, brand new equipment. The selection is bigger and better. There's a section for ladies if they need it. The classes are great. Everything is well worth the reasonable amount of £19.99 per month.
P. W.
They have one oft he best group class trainers in the low budget fitness club field. These people will just give all they know and push you. Very motivating & also entertaining. I havent attended such classes since in the UK either in expensive gyms nor low budget gyms. So the trainers here are rough, tough and they will kick your butt. They are nice too:)
Good (but still better maintanace needed) are their spin bikes. /in comparison to PURGym, TheGym they have real spinning bikes likethey have to be.
What could be inmproved is the main weight lifting area. It could be bigger. twice of what is offered now.
People train here & are respectful towards each other. No show offs or any strange vibes. I think pretty much productive environment. The female area is bit lame and doesnt really have enough mirrors or place to lift. But it of course depends on how you want to have it.
I was very happy with the gym, but had to switch houses, so nothere anymore.
For those who wanna join: enjoy! This is agood low budget deal as mentioned above with good trainers on your side.
H. R.
Very large and spacious but would be perfect if there was a deadlift platform or large industrial sponges to take the impact of large weight touching the floor, a standard ab crunch bench and better quality barbells as some of them spin loose during reps...
P. G.
Love this gym & love that there's a women's only part of the gym. It's never too full & there's always really helpful, friendly staff around to guide you if you have any questions or issues. Definitely recommend!
s. l.
The perfect no frills gym - no contract, no must do introduction, no fuzzing around, no member card.
You sign up, you pay upfront, you train.
No ones is bothering you with anything,
It's clean, people are there when you want to know something.
I am absolutely happy with it!
And thr best: its affordable!
T. A.
Great value Gym, recently refurbed, loads of equipment, love the studio as can do my functional training and muay thai. Only complaint would be rowers are very shonky and good do with replacing.
N. A.
Great value for money. Unlimited classes, lots of equipment and helpful staff. Perfect location for me so I have no excuse to miss leg day!
A. P.
Good sized gym. Everything you need is there. Never had an issue so far. Very affordable too
S. A.
Not the best equipment or layout but staff were lovely.
A. M.
A really good Gym, lots of machines and weights and having a women's only section is great for my wife. My only concern is that the women only section don't have a lot of equipment compared the mixed
M. E.
The gym is super fine !!!
I would like to say massive THANK YOU to my favourite and the best trainer Lucil Smith .She is always super friendly, positive and informative ....
J. C. C.
good gym and equipment but people should really leave their weights on the racks, what a mess! also they really need to invest in some new mats, some of them are literally desintegrating.
R. R.
Great selection of cardio and weight equipment. Friendly staff and great value for money. On the negative side gets really busy after 5.
S. H.
It's good for the price. But too crowded. Out of date machines although they are varied. They do have loads of classes available which are free. Good AC and lots of TV available.
M. R.
Very clean with lots of classes available free for members. One issue is it gets extremely busy after 5 and the entire place becomes stuffy and you have to wait to use equipments
R. R.
Cheap membership. No frills as in no sauna etc. Just the machines, weights and classes. Well equipped and friendly staff. Busy at peak times.
A. M.
Best gym at a reasonable price in London so far.Very friendly and professionals trainers.I took a star off because on my first day I was told at the reception to have a look around by myself and when I couldn't find a certain area and asked I was told at the reception where to go to without being taken I don't find that professional at all but reasonable price and good trainers.
S. S.
For the price you cannot beat it. You'd be crazy to pay more elsewhere as a woman as they have a women's only section with plenty of cardio machines and weights, & lots of classes.
G. P.
Decent Gym, Defo value for money, free weight area a bit messy but got everything you need, nice changing rooms, wouldn't shower
B. B.
Absolutely fantastic place very friendly and helpful staff . Machines and free weights. Something good for everyone.
👍👍👍
N. A.
Staff are 1st class always someone to help you
High level of investment been happening over the past couple of years
Not that often that you can't see a cleaner on duty
Damaged equipment is repaired within a week most of the time
J. S.
Even better after the refurb, new showers and equipment. Find this gym very relaxed and handy.
L. Z.

l.
Nice gym. Clean dressing room and equipped with main gym tools.
J. K.
Excellent for the price. As long as you don't go at peak hours (I tend to go super early or super late) the weights area is not too crowded
B. T.
Large gym with all the facilities you need. Like all gyms, during peak periods it can get really busy
S. B.

(Translated) Basic gym but you have enough to train. Sometimes there is a promotion for registration without paying a registration fee. Monthly fee is a possible value to pay. But for the same price I have also seen other popular gyms with more quality with Pure Gym, The Gym, among others. But as I said it is a basic gym that super needs. Changing room and lockers.
