Reviews of PureGym London Bayswater

I like this gym. I always see staff on the floor and always see at least one cleaning the machines. There are designated “Help spots” you can go to if you need to speak to someone. Reasonable monthly price, well equipped for my needs. Only thing I quite mind is that it smells from sweat the minute you enter (I mean yeah we go to the gym to sweat right) but still think there should be something done about this and also everyone on their phones hopefully not recording.

I've trained here on and off since around 2018.
If you time the workout times using the app and/or Google busy times, it's usually OK.
But still, it can be unexpectedly busy. It isn't often I can do my plan A workout in this gym, but there are enough backup options. So it's OK, but just not optimal.
It would be nice to see more 20kg plates and more free weights and less machines but that is just what suits me personally. A member of staff to put dumbbells and plates back would also be an improvement as it turns into an absolute free-for-all during peak.
I wish this one was 24 hours, as I have to use both Bayswater and Hammersmith if I need to train during the night.

Well equipped & the staff are super awesome. Love their classes too - just tried LBT and Constantino was great - I'd give him 5***** ratings if i could!
Other than that, gym does get very busy (I go on the app and check how many people are there... then decide whether to go) wish it was 24hrs though.

Well, you get what you pay for. Avoid certain time slots if you want to be able to do anything in the gym. Other than that the equipment is in pretty decent shape and the gym is clean enough.

I really enjoy coming to this gym. Ever since my first visit around 8 months ago, I have been hooked up by the group exercises and ESPECIALLY by the quality of some of the instructors. Not only do they push you to perform but many of them motivate you to come again to the same training and build up a routine. Whether it would be the yoga sessions with Paulo, which teach you to focus, clear your mind and make your body more flexible, the boxing workout with Andrew, where you learn self-defence and how to adapt to your oponent's movement or the cycling exercise with Cosntantino, where you build up your conditioning and perseverance by cycling non-stop for 45 minutes, each and every one of them fits perfectly in the broad combination of the diverse and quality exercises that the gym offers.
I have been constantly visitting nearly every day after uni and work during the time I have been in London and it has been a tremendous place for socialising and meeting new people.
P.S It's sometimes really frustrating to see an amazing instructor you like to leave since your motivation for going to a workout takes a hit. Nontheless, it's an amazing gym which I recommend to everybody to try and experience at leats once.

Very good staff, they assist to the membership procedures. Very good equipment, even though cables and machines are on a seperate floor from the free weights, it is an efficient gym.

I trained here for a week while I was travelling through and I dont know why 100% but I instantly fell in love with this gym.
Maybe its the great location, maybe its the friendly staff and clientele.
Maybe its the enormous space it takes up and even though the gym is busy it never feels it.
The machinery is fantastic, and kits are kept clean.
Or maybe it's a combination of all the above.

This Gym is in a good location, and has decent amount of cardio equipments. The weight training area is good however it would be better if people put the weights back in place if they are not using it. The classes are fine but I have seen better gym classes although they are at a higher cost. The personal trainers are mainly focused on their clients and would not really help other members.

I just love puregym in general because they don't make you sign scammy contracts :) and about this particular gym, I love it too, it has good equipment, the staff is friendly and always helpful, and it's in a good location too. It's great! recommended 100% :)

I’ve been training there and working as a personal trainer since September 2020. It's a great place to train and to work. The managers are professional and always helpful. As with EVERY COMMERCIAL GYM, it's busy in the evening, but that's completely normal. I recommend the people complaining about machines and the waiting time to use a machine, to be more creative and use different exercises with dumbbells, cables, bodyweight, sacks, and kettlebells. There's always enough equipment to use.
Peace and love everyone, train hard and leave Tinder and Instagram for after the workout. Don't forget your protein.
R. D.
very clean and well-kept gym, there are machines that you can't find in other gyms, even bigger puregym

It’s a great gym, but I don’t get why it’s not 24h. When I train at others it’s always 24h and I feel like this gym really needs that. Especially when it’s impossible to train from 16:00-22:00 due to overcrowding.

Joined around 5 months now nice gym clean and spacious. Good equipment

I like the gym but the taps are so small is impossible to wash your hands without touching the sink. I really hope they going to replace it with proper taps
R. D.
The gym needs to be cleaned properly. The team need to tell users to wipe down gear they use. The personal instructors can see the person they training didn’t wipe it! The staff don’t really cate what goes on in there.
The power plate needs to be somewhere, where we can use it!It’s in the corner, absolutely filthy and in poor condition.
There are no bar bells.
I’m only using this gym out of necessity being an all passport membership. Wouldn’t recommend.

Good gym, many weights and machines, everything you need to complete your workout. A bit busy sometimes. Overall great value for the price. 🏋🏻♂️

Great central London gym. Trained on and off here for years. Facilities are more than adequate for most users and all of the staff are helpful, friendly and provide excellent customer service. The gym is clearly regularly cleaned, and i've been impressed with the extra efforts they're going to on this during the current pandemic.
I recently lost my wallet in the gym and the staff, especially Ali, went above and beyond to return this to me a day later. I highly recommend this gym and the staff who work there.
A. J.
Fairly busy at times, you have to plan your visit to avoid the crowd and or machine hoggers.
It's a clean environment as I see the staff clean the machines and top-up the cleaning stations. And the staff are helpful.
S. L.
Very busy like most pure gyms i’ve been to. Staff are great & gym is clean so no faults there.
Dumbbells never together or in right place but that’s no surprise, I’ve never understood people’s inability to f-up such a simple task. What I found most annoying was there’s not enough weight plates downstairs for the amount of machines and racks so constantly scavenging weights and stealing from the leg press or wherever you can find them gets tiresome tbh. It did the job for me for a month but I wouldn’t like it to be my full time gym I’m sorry.
L. P.
Good location but poor quantity/variety of equipment, always gotta wait min 10 min to get a crossover for example. The gym is better is this aspect. Only one straight bar at the crossover, and poor maintenance on some .

Just after my request they have replaced the straps , showing that they care about the customers. Thanks puregym
( We still need more short bars for the upstairs pull over)

Travelled to Kensington and was looking for a gym, this has absolutely everything you may need, and alternatives.
H. R.
The gym is decent.. its clean and every gym user ensures they clean their equipment after use.. Only problem is...its a but small for the price you pay.. not many cable machines or dip benches
O.
Very basic gym but does the job. Given the area, you could prob charge a little more, and improve the experience.
Providing towels would be start!

Not the best PureGym I've been to. Understandably the premises isn't huge so the space has had to be used carefully however it just seems a little dim lighting wise.
Staff seem nice. I wouldn't say approachable as it feels more like they're all Personal trainers who are there just to serve their clients. However they smile. Sometimes that's enough. :)
All in all. It's a budget gym. You get what you pay for and to be fair, for 29.99 a month in this area, this isnt too bad.

Nice gym with decent equipment however it is very busy with no space for standalone workouts (I imagine due to Covid).
L.
The gym itself is not that bad. Always clean and it is a decent modern space. It is just too busy, day and night. This makes it uncomfortable, and most of the time you can not do a full workout. I will not be renewing my membership and will look to go elsewhere.

Very good price for a gym in Notting Hill. Just one class at Barry's around the corner is £20, while a month's membership here is only £29!
I access the gym during business hours and there is no issues with accessing equipment. It is surprisingly large with a great range of very modern equipment.
The classes overall are fantastic, however, it does depend on the instructor. I have been to one or two which have been quite disappointing. And it would be good if they had more yoga and kettle bell classes.
It can be difficult getting into classes which book up very quickly and some of the good ones seem to have too many people attending, which would suggest people just turn up even if they haven't booked and there is no real management of this.
Overall a very good gym for the price. I've read complaints about not having staff on reception, but I assume that is how the costs are kept so low.

Small cozy gym. Lots of treadmills and ellipticals but only one of each other gym machine. It gets quite busy during the evenings so have to queue up for the machines but quiet in the weekend. Floor space is also limited during the evening as it is very busy. Good selection of classes.
A. Z.
This is my main gym. It’s quite big and has a range of exercise machines and equipment. There are a number of staff available on site to help you if need be. However, some gym users have no respect for others and will hog the machines or equipment. It’s unfair on those who are trying to become healthy but that’s a given in any gym.
Pure Gym is by far the best Gym business in the UK and I always appreciate the quality of service, equipment and how well furnished the gyms are.
E. G.
I love pure gym, pay as you go, no complications, good range of equipment and you can check from the app how many people are at a the gym
You can get personal trainer but they don't walk around the gym bothering you like other gyms do.
Classes are included but you need to book in advance, also, you can cancel even 1 minute before the class starts and not get charged
Some branches offer 24hour gym but not this one, if you would like to get something from the vending machine, you need to pay by card

Generally good value for money, that's why I selected 3/5 stars. However, I can confirm the statements that other users have posted: often overcrowded except for the cardio area, hygiene could be better (many people seem to spit into the sinks in the washing area). Also, I can confirm that some of the guests seem rather questionable - while "normal" users get told off quickly by the staff in case they, for instance, bring their bags to the training area, some users perform wild martial arts trainings in the middle of the center, which the staff seems to tolerate. This training includes wild kicks in the air, martial arts moves with wood sticks, punching against the training devices, speed show-jumping courses between the training devices, to only name a few points. This makes other guests visibly feel very uncomfortable as it happens in the regular training area and should normally be flagged by the staff.

I was in doubt if I should rank this gym with 4 or 3 stars. The place have some nasty problems, like zero staff help, the mattress that have been used are stored in the same pile for new use and there are no many info material provided.
But it has some good advantages, like the price, is reasonable cheap for a gym in Notting Hill, the equipment are good, it is not overcrowded and the dress room is clean.
K. V.
Was really hesitating if I should switch to gym closer to home, but this gym is very well equipped and has everything you need and more. Classes are really incredible. Cycling class with Pandora are one of the best ones I attended and they are 45min-1h.
You do need to bring your own towel and toiletries, but it's a good value gym and "No wastage" policy is well balanced.
Giving 4 starts only because opening times are a bit restrictive. Opens 8am during the weekend, which means I can't go if I'm working in the morning. As well during the week closes at 10pm. Problem for those who work long hours or don't have a stable work hours. Was thinking is 24 hours as entrance its with the code.
L. D.
Ok. As per most pure Gym’s a bit busy and hard to get onto things as you want them. Like their membership that I pay for in Leeds and allows me access to London Gym’s for £1.50 a time.
B. H.
Decent gym for the price. Good weights selection. It can get a little busy at peak times, and on Sundays it shuts a bit early for my liking but can't complain at the value.
