Reviews of PureGym London Piccadilly
M. F.
This gym is excellently equipped and always clean. All staff, in particular the Manager, are polite, helpful and courteous.
T. F.
This is a bias review because I am an instructor here. But we do our best to make this gym accessible and fun for everyone 😁
S. D.
I really loved this gym- I was a member for nearly 2 years and then changed jobs so moved gyms. I would definitely recommend this gym if you want a well priced gym in central London. I used to mainly do classes which were great. Agata’s Pump class on Tuesday and Friday was amazing- she is so full of energy and really kept me motivated and pushing myself- fantastic trainer! The spin classes were also great. The changing rooms are basic but I don’t think you should expect much more for the price you pay. The gym is well equipped and I found other gym members and staff friendly and respectful of each other.
M. P.
Its ok, the music is too low so it dosent really create an atmosphere for training or excersise but I guess pop in some headphones and your good to go.
The good bits:
Its clean,it has barbells, machines, cardio,Dumbbells even a couple of weightlifting platforms.
The bad bits:
The atosphere is very awkward you can sence that no one really knows what they are doing so that in turn makes you feel awkward, a bit more interaction from the staff and louder music might be tools to help that.
All the barbells are off brand. Dont expect to find brands like rouge, eliko etc they are also pretty beat up and the knurling is smooth on them so not a lot of grip assist.
Resistance machines, I liked 1 of the machines, I cant remember the name of it but it was a seated chest supported back row this allowed me to get full range of motion. Pretty much every other machine because of the way its been designed, do not allow full range of motion for some people, mostley if you have long limbs like me. However there are products out there by more industry standard brands that will accomadate the gibbon armed man.
All in all its better than nothing. I wouldnt train here if I lived here tho.
H. P.
For a budget friendly gym, fantastic equipment. Has everything you want and more.
Yes, no fluffy towels or immaculately kept gym floor, but it does the job.
Hard training atmosphere in there, which makes it a fantastic place to workout.
Have been running my business from here for the last 2 years, and wouldn't change anything.
Highly recommend.
P. V.
Just discovered this location, I live it, super central and is one of the biggest of this chain. The staff is very friendly and approachable.
D. S.
Reasonable size gym with all the basic equipment needed. However, the treadmills aren't looked after properly some are very noisy when running on them. The spin bikes are not maintained properly, quite a few seem to be missing peddles and have loose handle bars. As for the man's changing room, very big and spacious but the showers are disgusting and there is always a strong smell of sewage and plenty of mould everywhere. You feel dirtier coming out the shower compared to going in.
J. S.
Split over 3 levels - you'll find many different types of equipment to workout with. Fun place 👍🏼
A. M.
First let me give credit where it is due. The gym is quite large and has a good equipment that is mostly in good working order.
Here is where they could improve:
1. Air flow: only a few of the AC units were operational, not enough to cool the whole gym when busy. The air upstairs was stagnant and everything felt damp. If your AC is on the fritz, at least get a fan.
2. Cleaning wipes: no one has a towel and therefore no one wipes down the equipment after use. Despite this, the gym was very tidy.
Overall the gym is good value for the low price of membership. If they fixed the air conditioning and provided some wipes or sprays & rags it would definitely be five stars.
A. A.
Great value. Good, clean, competent gym with all the kit. Free weights, pin weights and cardio equipment. Even has ski ergs which is a bonus.
A. B. T.
Nice and clean gym. Not much staff around.
K. R.
I really like this gym for the price and good value. It is visibly clean, not too crowded and pretty good with classes (despite them always being booked and half empty).
My only concern is they don't have sanitizing spray/tissues like most gyms (I suppose they are more budget). I bring sanitizing spray myself which solves this problem. The showers are fine and don't bother me. Overall, I really like this gym - cheap, cheerful and a good place to get a nice workout.
G. C.
I really like this unit, the staff are kind and the team is very hardworking, it's spacious and the air conditioning is perfect.
K. P.
Nice gym in general but PLEASE make a bigger effort in cleaning the spinning bikes! They are filthy as hell! And by that I mean the whole bike, not only the handles! They look like they haven’t been whiped down for months! I know it’s a low cost gym but if you don’t provide cleaning tissues to wipe off the equipment you could at least make sure that the gym gets a thorough clean at the end of the day! Also it would be great if the showers could be cleaned a bit more frequently.
Also no Access to WiFi or service which sucks because you cannot use the PureGym app and therefore it’s workouts.
J. H.
Very clean. Spacious. I’d recommend.
F. Y.
Solid place to work out. Layout is tricky as the gym is cut out into various floors/sections but you get use to it. Clean/good machines, nice facilities and not always crowded. As someone whose traveling and use a lot of the Pure Gyms this is a good spot.
P. S. G.
Great experience in Puregym Piccadilly ! July is fantastic trainer and she gives you all of the motivation that you need for your workout!
J. C.
This is definitely not one of the better Pure Gyms. I use the one in Lambeth as it's by my flat but decided to 'upgrade' so I could use this one on my lunch break given it's nice and close to the office.
There's a good range of machines and weights and I don't find it so busy that I have to wait for much. However free weights areas can be a mess with people not putting things back, leaving plates loaded up on machines, etc. When I was here the other day, rather than enforcing it, three male trainers were all just standing around having a chat.
The worst part of the gym though is what you do after the workout. The showers are abysmal - you can't set the temperature so after being drenched in sweat and wanting a nice cool shower I couldn't and then to top it off they're button showers so you have to press the button every 15 seconds or so. I then wanted to dry my hair so I could return to work looking presentable but was faced with the weakest hairdryers I've ever encountered, so returned to work with my hair wet and had to just allow it to dry naturally.
So all in all, the gym is 'fine' but that's about it - it does the job but for people who use it while at work it would be nice to have a setup that actually allows people to get clean and get ready after as that part just doesn't meet even budget standards.
P. H.
This PureGym has a good selection of weights and machines even thought they're hard to get to during peak times. Sadly, the gym has not been well maintained since its opening about three years ago. The showers are just grotesque and the mould is spreading throughout the entire gym at this point. There are certain tradeoffs I'm willing to make for the comfort of having a 24/7 gym but risking my health by breathing toxic air is not one of them.
A. N.
All in all average gym - looks good but as expected due to being brand new
I was most disappointed with the showers, you cannot change the temperature and you need to press the button for the water to flow after a short period of time as there is a timer in place
UPDATE
I have changed my review from 2-5*s as the showers have been upgraded so that you can actually change the temperature to suit your liking. You can also turn off the shower at your own free will
C. G.
Good gym visit in not busy day but the shower need to be renewing nothing changes
A. G.
Great equipment and facilities for the location and price. The only problem I have with the Piccadilly branch is the security. I use the gym early morning and there is always a group of men loitering/sleeping on the entrance stairs. Intimidating to say the least.
Apart from that, great value for money.
W. M.
Handy for my work location, cheap and open 24/7. Good selection of machines. Star off as equipment returning is not enforced so often you waste time hunting for a pair of Xkg dumbbells or plates that have been left lying about or on barbells which is really annoying. Could do with some more dumbbells in the more commonly used sized (10-20kg) and some more cable machines.
R. M.
Very affordable gym, refitted in late 2016. Less than half the price of other local gyms, coming in at circa £36 per month. Good range of equipment and classes with lots of PTs available to help. Never too busy either.
W. K.
Brilliant location, and definitely one of the cleaner and better presented LA Fitness gyms. Tons of cardio and a nice pool. But the free weight area is pretty rubbish, way too small for the amount of people in there and a lack of weight plates.
c. t.
Fantastic facilities for the monthly rate compared to the local fitness first. Men's showers could do with drainage service but the rest of the changing rooms are kept very clean and plenty of space.
P. D.
Have been an LA fitness member for about 5 years, and have had their 'all clubs' membership for about the last 2years. The Piccadilly branch is in a perfect location to go for a workout before heading into Soho for evening food / drinks / theatre etc. It is probably one of the more tired looking gyms in the chain although the equipment is all fine and the pool and steam room allow you to relax after a good workout. the staff are always friendly and on hand to answer questions.
M. N.
For the price the quality of this gym is outstanding. Brand new, varied equipment including two power racks with deadlifting platforms. Reasonable sized cardio area and large selection of free weights and machines.
S. B.
been a member of la fitness for 5 years have freedom pass, so ive experienced allot of them! This is by far my favourite. Friendly staff always helpful, decent equiptment, never gets over crowed when I go and generally pleasant atmosphere. Didn't get a fall star as the changing rooms, especially showers lets it down. Its growing mould in there, half the showers barley working, and there are flys everywhere! Please sort this out!
J. S.
Love Pure Gym Piccadilly great work out space great equipment and great staff. I used this gym when it was LA Fitness which I loved but Pure gym has taken it and improved on it. Great to see some of the old LA Fitness staff still there.
J. A.
Good budget gym in central. Don't expect any glam. No pool, no towels, no frills. But it has good equipment (even if the WiFi in the changing rooms sucks)
A. M.
This gym is ok. Lots of equipment and space for central london but things often broken and finding a shower that works properly can be tough. I've had way better outside of the city for cheaper but as far as london goes this is pretty competitive.
V. S.
Good gym. Has everything you want and with friendly staff. It's just busy during peak times. Which is expected.
H. D.
I actually love this gym - loads of equipment always available clean and spacious. Classes are good too. Much better than some of the other more expensive gyms ive been to in central london.
M. Z.
Top 24/7 gym with two deadlifting/squatting platforms and plenty of good powerlifting plates to go with it. Very quiet on the weekends which is ideal for a good sesh.
A. S.
I'm training a lot for my biceps and triceps muscles. I like this fitness, because it is maintained and clean. I recommend it. Guys, the results will be positive as soon as you believe in the desired success.
W. B.
No frills gym in excellent location. Well maintained and with lots of equipment but lacks atmosphere and can get crowded.
A. M.
24/7 access is good, and the equipment is adequate but not amazing. Gets crowded at lunch and people never put their weighs away, though.
M. R.
Full complete gym for the everyday training and weight lifting. Lot of almost brand new apparel and cardio machines. Nice powerlifting area. Avoid the peak times.
Z. B.
I like the friendly and polite attitude of the professionals there. But I'm not a big fan of the working hours. During the weekend I want to go and train for a couple of hours. But it is open only till 4p.m.
A. O.
Piccadilly PureGym is supposedly premium but you get nothing more or better for the premium cost. If anything it's actually a little scruffy compared to some cheaper PurGym's
I suppose you are paying for the expensive location.
Has everything you need but decidedly average in comparison to others.
J. J.
Great Gym and such good value for money !!
I. V.
Modern Gym in central London. There are different rooms and class available. Should be cheaper, the price 35pound per month.
Y. Y.
Clean and spacious gym. Not so busy for the location which is good for the members.
E. E.
Great gym, especially for the price. Currently obsessed with the spin classes. All staff are brilliant
C. B.
Well equipped gym but very busy. Some very fragrant members
s.
I like to work my calves. I want big calves. The big calves machine is maintained to a high standard. This gives me the assurance. The assurance that I will get big calves.
What is a man. A man is a man with big calves.
M. G.
Clean, open 24/7...nice atmosphere. All machines you need for your daily gym

(Translated) a lot of cardio machines and always available between noon and two, bodybuilding side however it is quickly armored between noon and two and it is quite small and disappointing in terms of equipment, there are only machines no weights and bars to make bench presses for example. The changing rooms are nikel, they are large, there are always free lockers even during the midday rush, the showers are clean and there are hair dryers available which is very practical! the club is open 24 hours a day, the girls' changing rooms are blocked by code at night and until 6 am so there is no risk, already to enter the club you must have a code so anyone cannot come there. There is a water fountain in the club so if you don't have a bottle it doesn't matter. I haven't tried the lessons so I can't comment on it
(Original)
I. B.
(Translated) In fact, I haven't been to puregym, but at the london trunk show, a footwear competition that took place on regent street 12 London was attended by about forty shoemakers who exposed a shoe that was subjected to an inspection by judges expert in the subject, and then still 2 competitions one for polishing, and the other x the patina (painting, painting),
