Reviews of The Little Gym Westfield

My 6 year old daughter has been attending for a few months now and absolutely LOVES the classes - just the right mix of fun and technical skills. The staff are great, the classes are well-organised and well-structured, with a nice mix of boys and girls and a mix of male and female instructors in each class. My daughter's gymnastic ability has noticeably improved and I can see that staff have the right experience and skills to guide her further learning. It's also a lovely environment with great equipment and facilities. Highly recommend!

We've been taking my son to Little Gym for three years and now we take my daughter too. The classes are brilliant for building their physical confidence, are great fun and the kids are excited to go. It's the best children's activity we've taken them to. Apart from being super qualified, the teachers are genuinely interested in kids and really love what they do. Highly recommend it!

My daughter has had a fantastic first year at The Little Gym starting in the Funny Bugs class. The teachers are wholly engaged with the children from the moment they enter the waiting area through to sticker rewards at the end of each class. They have high levels of energy (and patience!) required for preschoolers. My daughter and I both especially love that, in addition to foundational gymnastics skills, each lesson also incorporates all the games we usually can't pull off around the house (hide and seek, basketball, hula hoops). They use wonderful imagination and creativity to build a whole story-filled world for the children each week.

Fantastic teachers and really great friendly atmosphere. My kid has truly transformed through gymnastics and is in love with her teacher. Sometimes I wish the ratio was lower so teacher had a chance to focus on individual kids more so the learn more not just play. Overall very lovely. Highly recommend

when my daughter started at the little gym she was very shy and not very confident in a few weeks I watched my daughter turn into a confident girl. She walks into lessons and very fond of the teachers in her group. Teacher Matt particularly knows my daughters strengths and weaknesses and will encourage my daughter to “have a go”.
The little gym has taught my daughter so many new skills and I feel the lesson plans are age appropriate and very imaginative for the children.

The Little Gym at Westfield is one of the best children’s activities our kids have ever done. Our 8 and 6 year olds have been attending for at least four years each and our three year old since he was a year old. They all absolutely love going every week, adore their teachers and they always come away with big happy smiles on their faces and totally exhausted. Our kids are learning some amazing gymnastic skills in a fabulous space designed just with them in mind, and they are being taught by really wonderful teachers who clearly love what they are doing and who clearly love working with kids. What has also impressed me in the time we have been at The Little Gym is also the effort all of the staff put into making both the children and the parents/careers feel very welcome and looked after, with real flexibility in rebooking missed classes and a real emphasis on trying to do new things and continually improve their lessons. We can’t recommend their classes highly enough!

My three kids love The Little Gym and have been going from 10 months - 8 years old. It has done everything from entertaining them, to making them stronger, to improving their confidence. The teachers are all high energy and make the classes effortlessly age appropriate but at the same time challenging. My children have also attended their fun and engaging camps. I am a big fan.

Over a period of two years my daughter has had a wonderful time attending the Little Gym classes. The teachers are fantastic and create a really positive environment. It is a highlight to our week!

Rolled-Over. Rating should be 3.5 (if this were possible).
Background to this post
The management team at Little Gym have asked me to review my original post, as they feel that reference to Bart requires greater context. I have no problem in providing additional information as I want my review to be balanced and helpful. I have subsequently spoken at some length with Bart on the phone. Hence this update.
Key points
1. Little Gym has been very much enjoyed by my daughter and family for the first few years (Funny Bugs, Giggle Worms) including two excellent birthday parties. There have been some great / stand-out teachers and learning. I would still recommend these classes and parties for the younger kids (based on our experience of these classes)
2. the most recent experience Flips/Hotshots class was unfortunately disappointing, and this is explained below (Of course, everyone needs to make their own experience)
My core issue was with respect to this last semester 2017/2018: we were looking forward to our daughter joining the 'Flips/Hot Shots' as she turned seven however, we found the staff coped badly with the wide age group (6-12), did not get to grips with a small minority of kids who were disruptive and this significantly impacted the experience for many of the others (became a talking point by parents) and generally lost focus.
The teachers seemed overwhelmed and out of their depth. Perhaps also reflecting the long waits between using apparatus in a rather large class, and general chaos between instruction segments. We did not sign up to the following semester.
When one of the class teachers called my wife towards the end of term on an administrative point, my wife also took the opportunity to mention our concerns and frustration with the most recent semester. The teacher agreed to take up the point.
Subsequently, following our daughter's last lesson of term (following the Saturday, 3rd Feb) class, my wife asked Bart whether he had received the feedback from that call. Bart said he had, and then said a nice farewell to our daughter and my wife. It does seem as though Bart did not register that my wife wanted to continue the feedback session or have an update.
This seemed to contradict the normally very professional and friendly approach taken by Bart and his team and gave rise for concern and the sense that we needed to engage further. Not the note on which we would have wished the Little Gym journey to conclude.
I have subsequently been contacted by Bart and Monica (Little Gym Westfield owner) and we have agreed there was a misunderstanding. During our calls, it was agreed that more could have been undertaken to address the shortcomings in the classes during the term. I do appreciate this candour and have been advised of steps are being put in place. Thank you.
By way of conclusion, I would of course continue to recommend the younger classes.
I would also like to mention the leaving card and medal that Little Gym Westfield has recently sent to our daughter. Thank you. This made her day!
Perhaps there will be the opportunity to re-engage in the future.

My kid enjoyed it, but I want her to go to competitions, not sure this is the right place for that. However fitness / confidence building this fits the bill. Staff were too enthusiastic and it made me cringe. Good place but not for gymnasts wanting medals and represent team GB

Our kids love it. we have boys with loads of energy and its a great way to learn more about balance and the body. The staff are excellent, both with kids, and in the their physical activities.

Great classes. My daughter loved when I took her there. The only downside is the price. Too expensive especially if you have more than one child. Otherwise love it
