The only place in KH that had what I needed . Good basic service

This is just a great shop. I had a picture with a cracked glass - they cut a new piece of glass for me and charged only £3. I wanted a particular type of plant for my garden; they didn’t have it in stock but within a week, phoned me to tell me they had got a perfect specimen for me. I can’t recommend them highly enough; wish we had more businesses like this.

Lovely selection of plants as well as ironmongery. Helpful advice from proprietors. Signs up about social distancing and tape on the floor up to the counter. But it's up to you to keep your distance from other people there.

A great traditional hardware shop with an excellent selection of plants and garden things. I always go here first for any hardware needs. They cut keys and sharpen tools as well. They have a fantastic selection of screws, nuts and bolts and will sell them individually or in small quantities.

I would say this shop is a pearl and a gem, but that would be to denigrate the washers and bolts that it supplies. It is an adjustable spanner of a shop - one that enables you to do exactly what you need. It has heart, it has sense, it has precisely the right products. I have given it five stars but that really doesn't do justice to this store which is so brilliant it is counter-cultural.

Local stalwarts of the Kings Heath shopping scene, this place transcends all fashion and trends (including Internet shopping) and delivers exactly what it's customers want whether that is a single bolt, fuse or some traditional item no longer stocked by DIY giants. These guys are very friendly and helpful. They are used to all kinds of questions and inexperience/ignorance - don't be intimidated! No problem too small, they will help if they can. Although the shelves don't always look massively well stocked, don't panic, they have so much stock hidden away. Ask and ye shall be given. This is proper old school hardware store, but a little bit of me still wishes they hadn't moved from previous location. There was something about going in to the saw shed or the other spaces that really felt like going back in time.
