Reviews of B&Q Bristol - Hartcliffe

A massive store selling everything from home decorations to building supplies.
My visit was to look for wall paper I came out with some for one room and some samples for another I didn't really know what I wanted but found some nice wall paper that I liked and and I was really impressed with the amount of choice there was.
I looked around the rest of the store and found everything was well stocked and the store was tidy.
There was a good range of garden products outside.
I looked around the tools and there seemed to be everything you could need to get the job done.
I was surprised to see the toilets had been closed clearly for a while as they had built shelving Infront of the door blocking it off wich I wasn't impressed with.
I also really don't like the self checkout with the screens showing you yourself scanning things threw I fined it really distressing just like someone stood there holding a camera in my face I originally gave 4 stars because I liked the store but redused it to 3 because of that like I dont have any problems with cameras overhead to make sure people don't steal stuff but this just gets your face not showing what your scanning threw so this clearly is nothing to do with security.

What a wonderful place to shop for all things DIY. The lovely thing about B&Q stores is they are pretty much all the same size - massive - and are packed to the rafters with everything and anything you need for garden and home. The only problem I find is the huge range of seriously tempting pieces of kit that, once seen, I desperately want but probably don't need!! Iron willpower (or, in my case, a wife who drags me away from temptation) is needed if serious bank-balance-damage is to be avoided in this wonderful store. Massive car park also serves the many other retail outlets on site and access is easy from the main roads. Staff are great. Prices good. All in all, Top Notch.

Overall good stock but went in for a piano hunge and the section for hinges was all but empty, must be a national hinge shortage
C. L.
Took my mower back as it failed to start after 3 mows…. Was a bit apprehensive as I didn’t have a receipt as such… couldn’t praise the staff enough… it was obvious they were experiencing staff shortage but nothing was too much trouble all done with humour and a smile… upshot being had a full credit note for value of the defunct mower so bought another one … different brand… excellent experience… Thankyou ladies and James…

Situated in a large retail park, with access roads that can get busy and clogged up, so take care when visiting at peak times. Plenty of spaces to park. Vast selection of DIY stuff. Large garden centre, big selection of plants. Certainly not the cheapest place to buy plants, shrubs etc, but it is convenient. Checkout experience not great, self service tills only ones open. I don't mind serving myself, but why do they not accept cash? Perhaps, I need to move with the times but I still prefer to pay by cash.
A. H.
Came to b and q Fri the 23rd to buy large floor tiles , asked one of the staff to help, as I am disabled, not only did he help with product knowledge. got a flat trolley as we only had steel cart ( not appropriate) loaded up for us took tiles to our car and loaded them in absolute legend. His name was Steve didn't get his last name but very recognisable big whie beard, thank you Steve
L. E.
A very helpful and knowledgeable young lady helped my boyfriend and I choose the right paint for our decorating project earlier today.
s.
The staff here can be a bit hit and miss. Some are super helpful, others seem to have more of a 'you're not my problem' attitude. Sometimes they have tills open, other times it's only self service and that can be awkward with lots, big or reduced items.
A. K.
Handy store to pop into when you need something. Staff could be better trained. I do get sick of "I don't know what that is" when your looking for something
J. K.
Had what l wanted in stock no problems quick and very efficient staff on hand to help good shopping experience
I. S.
We visited b&q to get ourselves a paddling pool, The staff are always waiting on the door to welcome you into the shop. Always happy to help.
I. M. .. “. C.
Happy with B&Q. Prices have started to match other retailers such as Screwfix. But some items would be better sourced else where for prices. Lately though , happy with purchases and prices. B&Q at Imperial is one of large outleys, so they have a lot more to offer.
L. C.
Great stock availability, staff have always been nice and super helpful.
L. R.
Well what can I say, I had the most fantastic customer service first from Mollie who helped me locate my item and then from Steve who put it in my car , well done 👍 and thank you
J. H.
Helped by Harry, who went out of his way, to help load trolley, take me through checkout and helped me load car as my husband very disabled. I would not have managed without him. Thank you
C. H.
Great place to shop - they have everything for DIY. Plenty of parking, prices on par .
R. A.
B&Q Kitchen&Door, Electrical, Home Appliances store....BRISTOL,UK measuring 150metresx100metres Big-hall/maal. Beautiful market-place.
B. C.
No more helpful pensioners with skills to assist newest D.I.Y ers. The person who helped us was so loaded with work it was unreal.

MORE STAFF!!
M. T.
Everything you need for DIY but I did get sent a long way round the store to find what I needed!
T. B.
Very big store! You can get all your DIY items here.
G. T. M.
This B&Q is gorgeous, literally. I come from Glastonbury where B&Q is really miserable here you can find literally almost everything you need
N. o.
Great shop for diy products, very helpful staff and low prices. A++++
g. l.
Despite it being a great shop, it's a shame some employees are rude and unprofessional, in particular the angry red haired midget
J. H.
Website says item is in stock... Phone confirmation? No answer...
Not in stock.
Sympathetic staff though!
G.
Great store and really friendly staff. First aid was given on the spot when needed.
J. T.
You can usually find what you need. Staff are really good.
C. S.
Great selection of items for your home and garden everything you need in one place
J. E.
Like any other B&Q store well stocked
K. W.
Found everything I was looking for. However, when I came out I found that another one of your customers had blocked me in and I had to wait for him to come out and move his car before I could proceed! I know your staff don't have police powers but could the outside staff advise ignorant people who do this kind of thing to be more considerate!
A. H.
Had a Kitchen design appointment with Rob, superb service. He was well informed, obviously had tons of experience and wasn't pushy at all. Excellent service.
D. G.
Helpful staff but they seem to lack the items I wanted. Great if I wanted some fashionable drift wood or a pack of 22 toilet rolls but I went for wood, bolts and screws. When I asked for help I was told to try Screwfix.. this isn't the first time B&Q have told me I'd be better off going to Screwfix for what I needed... Very strange way to run a hardware store.
K. A.
Tills, just one open with a queue and 4 employees standing around chatting including a manager. Need to sort it
P.
I can find everything for DIY and gardening. Huge place not too expensive.
E. H.
Decent sized store with plenty of free parking - including disabled and parent and child parking. Friendly staff and a wide range of products.
T. J.
This store has everything and recently I have noticed a more helpful and friendly staff. All stock is back to normal
D. B.
Can usually get what I want. Staff are helpful.
P. M.
Normally got what I need But
Got very expensive especially
Decorating stuff
D. M.
Very pleasant lady on the Valspar paint counter.
D. L.
As with all their stores it is well organized and lit. I found all the thi gs I wanted very quickly. An excellent range of paint and was very pleased to find such a lovely selection of plants. Staff were available if helpwas needed
J. B.
Nice big store , spacious and easy to navigate
m. e.
Assistant Shaz was very helpful and went out of his way to provide great customer service.
m. m. (.
Quite a sizable store with a lot of products, although some weren't so easy to find (not where you might expect them to be. Chainsaws with 'seasonal' gardening products instead of with power tools) & some of the areas, namely the garden/plants section seemed quite empty, or very under stocked at the least. But overall, a good DIY superstore.
A. D.
Great range of products, well priced!
F. L.
Fabulous for supplies for DIY projects - though I did wish there was more information about what is eco-friendly and what isn't. The large plant selection at the front of the store is all clearly labelled with the conditions each plant needs (be it a warm/cold, sunny/shady room) so you can easily find out if it'll suit your space without having to read all the text on the back of the label
R. B.
Good place to buy all your DIY stuff, it's a little pricey but Good stuff
M. m.
Always get my plants there staff always very helpful
J. D.
Seemed very well organised and does carry a wide range of garden products at bearable prices. There was a monstrous queue at the checkout when I got there but they managed to magic up more checkout staff remarkably quickly.
J. B.
It's a long time since I visited a DIY shop. I was looking for a very small item. It took three requests of staff before I was given the correct aisle! Wasted a lot of time.
D. J.
Probably visit too often. Always leave with something. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Indoor plant selection is improving, outdoor selection can be full of basic/common plants (as expected) no complaints from me!
M. D.
Very helpful staff and had everything we wanted. Thanks B&Q.
S. H.
Excellent customer service by Mark when I required a large amount of plywood cutting near to closing time. He was obviously already very busy but stopped what he was doing to assist with exactly what I needed. This store has the best range of products in any of the DIY stores I've visited.
C. G.
Excellent. I was really worried about going. However the guidance and markings for 2m is spot on. Most people were sticking to it. You have to use a trolley, which is cleaned before you get it, so check out staff and work safely. Did I say no queues when I went bonus. Though I have seen them 1/2 the length of the building.
A. W.
Looked up the item I wanted online and it said it was in aisle 24, but it wasn't. Friendly member of staff looked on their handheld device and said it was in aisle 6, which it was.
H. B.
My dad came into your store to purchase a sander to help with decorating, he wanted to purchase the correct sanding papers to go with the sander, he asked 1 of your employees if he could get some help & got the reply “ sorry we aren’t here to help with enquiries” umm well you clearly are because you have opened your stores up. I am also a key worker & wouldn’t dare say that to a customer, I think you need to train you’re employees to have more empathy & support in this time, I haven’t been able to sit at home for weeks, I have had to stay working. If my dad didn’t need the item he would have left it there, it has put me off coming to your store as you’re employees are rude !
M. G.
Very good all around. I went to get a small saw. The assistant told me where they were. Then to the checkout and out. It all took 10 minutes. You can't fault that. 😷
S. F.
When you see a customer walking around with a parrot on his shoulder, you have to give any place you see this a 5 star rating.
T. 0.
I am very impressed with B and Q having made a few trips recently, especially Don in the wood section who helped me find what I needed and even cut the plank to the size I needed so I could get in my car! Well done Imperial Park.
A. h.
I would like to commend this store and it's staff, in these very scary times they have donated ppe for The out of hours district nursing team based in South Bristol. We would like to thank you from the whole team for trying to keep us safe so we can continue to care for our patients in their own homes
K. B.
store clean and tidy , very good selection of goods and building materials , staff friendly and always willing to help and give advice you will always find what you want , a must visit store
F. T.
You can now bring well behaved dogs in
G.
This is a mega sized B&Q. You can get everything you need for the home and garden here all under one roof.
There are so many products on offer here you will be spoilt for choice.
Staff are helpful when you can find them. The trade counter staff are always friendly and helpful.
Wish there were trolleys inside at the building area or the garden section as it is rather annoying you have to go all the way back to the entrance to get a trolley if you don't come in with one.
C. K.
Staff are always nice and know exactly where things are! Returning unwanted items is easy, if you have your receipt they refund you, if not you get a credit note. Big store and stock a large number of items. Trade point entrance and parking is spot on!
N. L.
Man at the entrance was extremely nice and professional and helped me find my bits, Lady on tills was nice too, 4/5
C. C.
Nice and easy to bye equipment
b. l.
The showroom is fantastic! There are a lot of stuffs for house and gardem.
The price aren't very good, but you could find almost goods that we need in there.
K. H.
Bought some hardboard today & needed it cut into 12 piece. Expertly done by Mark, who was very patient & checked I had everything I needed. Need another sheet cutting, so will definitely be going back.
C. P.
Took my dad here to get some stuff for his birthday as he's been getting into carpentry. Staff are always friendly and the store is well ran.
D. 7.
Good service, lots of stuff and some sale items, remember to get B&Q card your get £5 off voucher plus bonuses 👍💳😉
B. D.
Staff generally helpful
Big range of DIY stuff
R. H.
Covid safe b and q with no restaurant. Toilet is open at the back of the store.
R. B.
No longer stocked the paint we already had, but had a good comparison.
G. S.
Good selection of products ..helpful staff ..rrasonable prices ..nuff said
K. H.
B+Q is what it is. Extensive range of products. Good parking and trellises available to help transfer goods from store to car.
A. S.
Picking up click and collect one girl on desk doing refund exchange and click and collect could have opened a desk a little way down would have help with que but over all good
S. Y.
This B&Q store is almost half of the Imperial Retail Park and houses every household essentials you ever need of. Paints, lighting, bedroom stuff, toiletries, gardening, power tools, plumbing, DIY and what not. The staff is always attentive and is friendly, the premises are clean and all other outlets are adjacent to or the opposite. Plenty of eateries and shops are around and you can shop until you drop. The vast (free) parking including the disabled is a bonus. Definitely worth paying a visit and there will always be something for you on sale or on clearance.
C. B.
Popped into the store to price up kitchen and bathroom. Staff very helpful and products look good.
D. D.
New queueing system at the main tills since last time we visited. Socially distanced and much more fair, I think. Sanitation stations outside and around the store. Well done B&Q.
P. L. (.
Very helpful staff in this difficult time of COVID- 19. Staff were very helpful and even gave priority entrance to keyworkers staff NHS, Local government etc. Very busy queuing which probably took ip to 25 mins before i got in but probably quicker than others. So definitely 4 stars from me.
L. C.
Good layout of store, found items needed quickly
H. B.
It's just like any other b&q really. Big, well stocked and you always need things at the opposite end of the gigantic shop! There's costumer toilets and a disabled toilet. The staff are helpful and shop is always tidy and orderly.
W. o. B.
Mike cut my timber. He was helpful and charming. And the lady on the till was nice too.
I wanted three small sheets of plywood but I ended up having to pay for the whole huge sheet. That was disappointing.
But as I say, the staff couldn't have been nicer.
B. L.
Good place to find stuff for home DIY
L. G.
Assistant in the paint department was very helpful with aiding me get the right paint colour mix. I had to return today as I'd got the colour mix too light yesterday.
N. S. A.
Really liked the store, definitely much better than Longwell Green. Visiting the store half an hour before close. There was plenty of offers, all in stock.
Only reason for the loss of one star was the every 5 minute warning that the store was closing and to finalise customer shopping. It was clearly like leave the store or we won't process your shopping. I know staff need to go home but I know staff scheduling allows for last minute shoppers! Customers needn't be push out of the store, should they?
K. H.
Easy parking. Lots of stuff we all need in our homes. Never overcrowded. Helpful staff. Great place to visit.
A. M.
Covid precautions were excellent. Everyone was given a sanitised trolley and advised that the trolley helps maintain 2m distance. Hand sanitizer on the way in and on the way out. Couldn't have been more reassured.
A. M.
Queue not too long and moving steadly.
Was there for the gardening depot and luckily managed to pick up what I wanted. The lay out of the passageways was good and quite understandable.
S. T.
Great place great service and always happy to help apart from the lady at the paint counter... would tell her to cheer up but i would probs have my head bitten off 😂😂
A. A.
Placed an order online at to collect from the Hartcliffe branch as the branch close to me was showing out of stock. Hartcliffe were out of stock too so they advised me to wait the next day for their stocks to arrive. The following day I found out that my local store had received the delivery and they had the same item in stock now. Spoke to Lin at Hartcliffe branch who was very helpful in transferring my order for me to collect from my local branch. Very grateful to Lin for sorting this out for me and saving me over an hour's drive! Thanks Lin!
f. p.
Usual can be said about this store
H. D.
Good shop. Usually some old hand about who can advise you on specific issues. Fixings too expensive, but other items generally ok. Need to put more staff on the tills. It is never ok to require customers to use the robot tills
m. m.
I went there for a thermostatic shower tap for a bath... And they didn't stock them
C. P.
Good quality items and quite affordable prices love there log burners and electric fire places and they aren't that expensive really
M. O.
Got everything I wanted. Good price. No queues. Nice lady on till. Helpful staff when you can find them
c. R. o.
Everything was okay BUT IT'S A HEATWAVE AND THERE WAS NO A/C in a big place like B&Q! ! And we didn't get asked if we wanted a bag but the 4 stars are for the young man who was very pleasant at the till. Buy not for the lady who starting putting back a wallpaper sample we were literally looking at like she was in a mood with US!! we wasn't finished lol. It would of been 3 stars if not for the young man who was very friendly! This is the imperial park ,Bristol B&Q
S. C.
Can usually get what I need. We'll stocked
A. S.
Excellent customer service, friendly and very helpful staff. Very good clear social distancing measures cleaning down each trolley after use.
A. M.
Nice people and store was excellent
m. l.
DIY to hearts content. Staff somewhat lazy when it comes to help. Could do with a custodian on door directing customers to item location.
C. B.
Visited B&Q to buy some flooring. Flooring was in disarray and no organisation whatsoever BUT a really helpful assistant named Jake spent well over an hour with is, helping to source the flooring we needed, right down to the batch numbers. He gave advice on fitting and nothing was too much trouble
D. D.
Had everything needed for my project
P. L.
Great cutting service for my MDF board. Sadly no angle cuts only width and length. My CLS timber had to be cut with a hand saw as apparently the staff are not allowed to cut sawn timber on the electric saw (?). Only one of the brass effect piano hinges in stock so I settled for nickel plated. The hinges take a very small screw 2.5mm ... that B&Q don't stock! I bought 3mm as this may suffice ... but why stock your 'own brand' hinges if you don't stock the right side of screw. A better idea would be to include screws with the hinges. However, generally a good experience... well done MARK the member of staff who was really helpful.
e. g.
Shame the paint I only bought 2 months ago is now discontinued - very disappointed but lady on customer service was very nice even if she could not help with the promblem
R. H.
Excellent and I got just what I wanted after being helped by lovely staff
C. R.
Impossible to find anything and staff use jargon that doesn't actually help find things!
J. L.
One of the only B&Q's where you can actually find staff to help you easily. If the staff member you approach doesn't know the answer they will always take you to another team member to help.
A. w. R.
It's B&Q great for picking up stuff for DIY but when it comes to garden flowers and veg it's a bit of a let down. I don't know what happened to the vegi stuff this year but there was that little it was not even worth visiting for it. I ended up doing it all by seed for my allotment in the end
T. v.
Excellent service from Rob in the kitchen/bathroom dept. 100% recommended
H. H.
Very friendly and helpful staff, huge store so it seemed to stock just about everything
D. S.
Needed some new tie down points for the bedroom as the missus is adventurous. Found what we needed and at a great price.
L. N.

M. &. M.
Always reliable store. Never been let down here good range of building supplies
S. M.
B&Q certainly has everything you need to decorating your house. The Christmas displays are very nicely done. Just very pricey, but if you got the money is certainly buy one.
J. W.
Over pricy but what can you expect
m. d.

M. C.
The staff were friendly and helpful however the location information on the website is not correct.
I. S.
Great for all your DIY needs only click and collect at the moment, will be better when it opens its doors again to the public
B. Z. (.
Really low on stock all the time. Compared to Cribbs Causeway bnq this shop is poor. I have been their customer for about a year and every time there is something missing. Please do something about it and check how other B&q's doing, especially at Cribbs.
A. B.
Access control and social separation in place at major congestion points throughout store. Everything I wanted was in stock. Great visit.
D. B.
Didn't have what I needed this visit but always happy with there products
i. b.
Very happy Dave help my with my purchase and behave very professional shame I can go more often there is a bit far because the one in Longwell Greenis bad the staff have no idea what they are selling very few staff they are trained to high standards like Dave.
G. T.
A cavernous store selling a huge range of competitively priced DIY goods. With an easy to understand covid policy/layout.
S. K.
Prices slightly expensive would rather go to b and m for a cheaper deal, although sufficient quantity.
C. H.
Big B&Q with just about everything a DIYer would need for the Garden, lighting, electrics, paint, plumbing, joinery, patios and so on... Some of the own brand ironmongery like door handles and locks are pretty terrible but generally its my first stop for DIY materials.
t. t.
really helpful older aged staff
great product knowledge
N. D.
Just wanted to say thanks to Dan who was so helpful re LED's today. Workers like him make old punters such as myself come back to your store.
B. J.
I went to buy wallpaper table wanted plastic table but they only had wooden ones no good
A. S.
It's a very well run DIY store. It is in a good retail park with a variety of stores. Plenty of parking space. Definitely worth a visit
M. L.
Two very helpful ladies enabled me to select the correct replacement strimmer line spool and refill line.
T. J.
Did not have the product I was after.
n. b.
Parking always full, and messy stock in the store, half of the staff is unskilled and cannot give any good advice while few are really good.
C. J.
Massive store always full of products, very friendly staff and always ready to help x
T. S.
Got what I was looking for leaving my shop there for a Wednesday for the Diamond card discount only to find they have stopped it on in store purchases but not on the garden centre products. I can see many with be going elsewhere to shop I for one will be
J. A.

T. p.
Helpful staff , well laid out , got exactly what I wanted
A.
Great stock and service
D. S.
Brilliant staff, working under difficult circumstances. As a carer was allowed to go to the front of the queue, staff informed me as l didn't know.
C. S.
Meh. It's a B&Q - what more do you need to know? The flooring display was a bit of a mess but I got everything that I went there for...
C. N.
Very helpful happy staff had all what I needed.
C. B.
Lots of outside space to walk around.
Quick queing times even on a Saturday!
Good COVID19 rules in place, pleasent experience.
P.
Really busy shop with queues outside and locals not keeping their social distance. Plenty of stock of most things needed.
I. S.
Always seem to get what I want. So OK.
T. C.

R. P.
Very helpful staff but stock issues on the website
J. P.
Always got what I need
R. B.
My trolley had a squeaky wheel. Otherwise very enjoyable experience with helpful staff
[. G.
Has everything you need. Very organised and staff are friendly and polite.
I. J.
Good selection of products, very friendly staff. Not necessarily the cheapest prices, but convenient for an all under one roof DIY consumer goods solution.
G. P.
During Lockdown, B&Q have shown how best to provide a safe way to shop as well as bring great products at good prices.
A. J.
It's huge, unless demand for specific items are high, for example fans and AC units in the recent heatwave, you'll probably get almost anything you'd like from a DIY store.
T. B.
Got what we needed, pleasant lady on the till what more do you want
K. W.
Bought a drill for my husband got home to find no drill in box phoned b and q took it back the box was a display box changed it and said sorry they were brilliant
S. W.
Very long way to get out of now we have restrictions in place especially if elderly. But overall good helpful staff.
l. h.

n. m.
Lauren was very helpful 1 to 6 months she went all the way to find what I am looking for normally b and q staff are not that good to and go help upto that extent.
L. L. M.
Went there for some engine de-greaser bought it there had two options easy visit was in large que but they opened another till to make service quicker very good
S. M.
I like a DIY shop because I'm a man, could not be bothered to walk around ,it's massive.
J. M.
Plants were very cheap
C. H.
Had everything as expected and had good COVID protecols in place. Friendly and helpful staff too
R. M.
Good visit purchased
And ordered Scottish cobbles for back garden
P. B.
Bigger than any other B&Q I've been too but the usual stuff aplenty.
d. d.
Not too good had been stripped of everything I wanted. Not their fault but a nuisance.
P. P.
Very helpful staff , on floor tiling
W. O. B.
