Absolutely great staff! The throat, ear and mouth team in particular were amazing! Saw 2 doctors who couldn't be more helpful! Was diagnosed and at ease in an hour, and ready to leave after treatment! Can't rate the service highly enough! They were absolutely amazing! 5stars

Nursing staff and consultants were exceptional. Totally professional. The hospital is good and clean, but does rather show being somewhat careworn.
Two years later and I returned for a CT scan. Absolutely fantastic staff, who are working incredibly hard in testing circumstances.
Just hope the result is going to be as good as my experience of the hospital.
Back to my "second home" again. Its a great hospital if you know your way around, sadly I do! 😥
Plentiful car parks, and there is plenty of signage to help you around the rather sprawling site. And if you do get lost, the hospital has some really wonderful volunteers that will point you the right way. They have a desk near to the out patients entrance, next to Costa Coffee. I think that they are also at the Tower Entrance.

Everyone that cared for me during my time in hospital from the paramedics, to A&E & Gynaecology doctors & nurses were all amazing. I honestly can’t thank them enough. The NHS is brilliant and I’ll be forever grateful.

Excellant service, had a broken hip. ED very busy, but the care excellent. Ortho surgeon came and explained, what was going to happen. Operation done, sent to ward, once again excellent care. Could not fault any thing.

The staff are mostly always lovely. Unfortunately the cleaning can be a little hit and miss. In the outpatients today and the same stain is here on the carpet since June!

Had to take my brother to A&E on advice of 111 and out of hours GP at around 10pm with tonsilitis and throat infection. Receptionist rushed off her feet but was still polite and friendly. He was seen by triage nurse Tara who was reassuring and efficient and was eventually taken through to a treatment bay. An ENT doctor arrived who inserted a canula and, despite my warning that he'd pass out if not lying down continued regardless. He had a seizure but staff immediately took charge and he was soon on oxygen, drips, steroids and antibiotics. He was fantastically looked after by Dr. Kieran and Nurse Kalvin. Nothing was too much trouble for Kalvin so special thanks to him.
Nurse Kalvin and

Unable to fault the staff nurses, doctors very friendly and supportive, down side long wait after initial consultation but sorted in the end

Fantastic service.
Fast, efficient and highly professional! (A++)
Now well on the way to recovery. Great surgeons and supporting practitioners.
I was seen swiftly, scanned and diagnosed promptly and then operated on in just a few days.
Huge thank you to all involved.

After a fall and spending just over a day in ED and then another in endoscopy I cannot fault either department.
The nurses were attentive with a great sense of humour even though they were busy. The Doctors and consultants were very thorough, so after 2 x-ray, CT scan, gastroscopy and several ECG I felt reassured and well informed of my condition.
Didn't try the food as was nil by mouth so can't help there!

Arrived at Gloucester Royal on a busy Saturday night the staff were stretched to breaking point but this did not stop amazing care, I was admitted but there was no beds on the wards so they got me a proper hospital bed in AE were I was for 24 hours the staff were amazing attentive and caring, I was then moved to a ward were I ended up having a sezuire and had to be put into an induced coma on the ward if it was not for the ward staff and specialist doctors I would not be here today, I was moved to critical care unit were I received the most amazing treatment.
To all at Gloucester Royal I can't thank you enough.

Yesterday , i have been at A&E department. Thank you to lady at the reception was very helpful and kind, and also Dr. Caroline. She was the best doctor I had experience with. They were very busy and had long shift and she still was very good . She did her best thank you.

I was taken to A and E by ambulance on Friday night after a nasty fall due to my MS. I cannot fault the care and compassion I received from the nursing team.
Yes I waited 12 hrs to see a Dr but in that time I was never once left in pain the nurse practitioner sorted out my pain relief. The orthopaedic surgeon came to see me told me I needed an operation and could come back for it next week.
They sent the home care nurses to come and see if i was safe to go home they didn't think I was but gave me adda to help me at home until I came back for my operation.
Sadly I wasn't safe to be at home and im now on my way back to the hospital. I really can't thank the staff enough for what they have done. I'm 42 not 83 but they really were amazing
N. J.
I was admitted to the maternity ward on Sunday. I am very pleased with the level of care and attention I received. I had to wait for 15 min at the triage unit as they must have forgotten about me I think despite speaking to the team over the phone twice - but other than this everything was great. The food was very bad but this is has nothing to do with the maternity service and more of the hospital's responsibility. Hygiene level was excellent . Many thanks to the midwifery team
L. C.
A very big thank you to all the staff in ward 3b, as well as all the doctors and surgeons who treated me. Was admitted with a broken leg from a motorcycle accident and everyone here showed me nothing but kindness. So supportive, helpful and professional. A small part of me didn't want to leave. Was almost like a mini holiday.

On 5/4/15 I brought my mother to A&E to have her assessed after a fall. The service we experienced was the best I've ever witnessed for a long time. We were seen and treated within the four hours they had promised. Each member of the team that dealt with us were all really kind, considerate and respectful. A marked improvement from previous visits and very impressed. Keep up the good work.

Thanks to Ward 5b for their recent care of my Mother-in-law Jean during here final days. My wife is medical and was totally supportive of the medical decisions. As well as being supportive of the medical decision we would like to thank the medical and nursing staff for thier care and compassion to both Jean and family members.
J.
Absolutely amazing staff, nurses were so lovely and helpful with me and helping calm the situation.
Doctors explained things very well, I was kept waiting for a bit but that's to be expected in any hospital tbh.
H. D.
I recently had major surgery at Gloucester Royal Hospital and was an inpatient for 3 days.
The professional care and kindness i was given was excellent.
The Consultants, Doctors and Nursing staff were reassuring and Professional.
The staff answered all my questions and worries with straight and helpful answers.
I was treated with dignity and privacy.
The food i was given was tasty, hot and well prepared.
The rooms were cleaned at least twice a day and were spotless.
This is the NHS at its best.
Thank you Gloucester Royal Hospital

The Royal hospital in Gloucestershire is enormous they can treat almost every human problem specialists in their field. The staff are so kind helpful and just wonderful. Many thanks to you all for your support and kindness
L. R.
I came with an Ambulance into the A&E. All the doctors and nurses where really nice, I had serguey the day after and the surgeon did an amazing job. And again the nurses on the ward where fab so helpful as I couldn't move. Today I had my 6 week check up the doctor was nice, motivating but also realistic about my injury.
K.
Went to a and e recently due to a sciatic flare up which came with subsequent muscle spasms.
Had to wait a couple hours after being seen by a member of staff to get details and be asked what was wrong. I was offered pain medication but was unable to have as had had some prior to arrivcwhich was fine. The offer was there though.
Even though had to wait a couple of hours could see the staff were very busy and working themselves flat out to get people seem and treated so despite the pain I was in I wasnt angry or frustrated at the time it was taking.
When I was seen the nurses were helpful rang through things in plainly so I understood what I'd done and how I could avoid plus what they were going to do.
Left witheds that helped and a reminder just how hard NHS staff workunder hard conditions.
Keep up the good work.
T. W.
Staff were fantastic and when I got seen they were quick, professional and friendly. Downside was building was like a maze and nearly impossible to get out of at midnight. But a minor gripe really
J.
Wonderful care and support from the spinal surgeons, theatre staff and all staff of Ward 2A Annexe recently. Nothing too much trouble and always a smile and caring attitude. Every
member of staff, regardless of their role, was caring, supportive and friendly.
Thankyou to everyone involved in my care following spinal surgery xx
M. C.
My son who is 14 had his tonsils out at this hospital at the beginning of August. The attention to care and detail from the staff was fantastic. I was very impressed with the professionalism shown by everyone who was involved with my son and I would consider it a faultless service. This was the first time my son had been in hospital and I would like to thank everyone involved for making it a comfortable experience.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences to date & I’ve been several times. Everything is pristine. I arrived on time and was seen almost immediately by Dr Milne, who was absolutely super. All NHS workers deserve a whopping great pay rise, especially when you consider all they’ve been through during “Lockdown”.
N.
I gave birth to my first baby here on the Maternity ward last Sunday and I cannot sing their praises high enough and will be sending a much more personal thankyou to them. From the Midwifes, Dr and anesthetist who treated me before, during and after the birth to all the staff on the amia ward who looked after us over the last week.
They were professional, thorough & attentive throughout. Our Dr, Consultant, nurses & porters were all incredibly kind. Thankyou so much!! Room 1 almost feels like a second home to us:) you made a very difficult and emotional time more than bearable.
Love and huge thanks from the couple with the 2day old baby girl!!
J.
They are doing the best that they can with the budget that they have. Huge waiting times & nurses rushing around everywhere. They deserve all of the praise in the world ! With more government funding, it would be a completely different experience.
Despite the huge waiting times, they work very hard, hence the 5 stars.
R. R.
Excellent NHS Hospiral with dedicated staff.
A. K.
Attended yesterday with my daughter. The staff where very helpful and understanding and showed some genuine concern. The negative part was the long wait. We had an appointment and when we arrived we where told there was an hour wait. It was more like 2 hours though which sucked. Anyway the first impression was good.
M. S.
Never have I ever been in such a well cared hospital. My child had a prolonged seizure and was put into HDU. We are from Wales and had to travel everyday but it was worth it. The staff on the children's centre are fantastic, the care is brilliant and the facilities were out of this world. Thank you all ❤️❤️
L. P.
Lovely staff, light and airy hall ways and rooms.
Some staff are very rude but that's only a select few.
Weekends i feel they need more staff.
The a&e department work well however i feel Gloucester should have a larger a&e and more staff. It's bursting at the seams.

Saturday night visit to paediatric A&E with ambulance.
Yes, long waits but excellent staff.
Take it for granted until needed.
Ambulance staff need to be able to check-in on arrival. They have to wait, so out of action until they can see the, all ready busy, Charge Nurse. Crew told me they'd had to wait for six hours at Newport Royal Gwent before - absolutely shocking.
N. B.
My wife recently had an operation at the day surgery unit of Gloucester Royal Hospital. We cannot express how excellent the care and attention was. She was extremely nervous as she had not been in hospital before for a operation. All the staff, from the nurses, the surgeons and the anesthetist, made her feel very safe and cared for. In particular we noticed how clean the ward was. As a whole the experience was a lot less traumatic than expected. We can't thank everyone enough.
C. H.
Awesome Paediatric department with very attentive kind caring friendly staff. Nurses go out of their way to look after you and make feel cared for! Clean and very comfortable. Awesome play equipment! They even gave our daughter a Christmas present on Christmas day which was such a surprisingly amazing consolation and made us feel very loved. The NHS at its absolute best - thank you!!
J. T.
I'm writing this whilst waiting for the operator to answer the 'phone. Today iI had to attend an appointment to find that it was to have my heart examined in the same way as had some two months ago. The appointment I was asked to keep was unnecessary. Now my call to the operator has been timed out. I find that the front line staff are polite and efficient. They also agree with me that the administration has gone to pot. The highly paid managers are what really is the fault with our health service. The Care and Quality commission actually cover up crimes committed by the management of hospitals. I state that having proof.
M. O.
Just spent a week in Cardiology 2, didn't want to be there and there was a big wait for some tests because of the Bank Holidays, but to a man on that ward everyone did their best. The lovely staff , tea ladies, Receptionist, even the other patients were great. Thank You NHS
P. K.
I was in Hospital on 10/02/16 with cholecystitis. The nurse in charge of me, Kelvin and the Dr, Jack, looked after me terribly well. My welfare was evident in the way they treated me. They were both polite, courteous and very professional and both had a good sense of humour. The banter was very uplifting in my pain and distress.
I would like to thank them both very much for looking after me in my moment of need.
A. B.
Absolutely amazing. Amazing nursing. All of them. Amazing surgeon. Amazing everything. They had more than sixty cases in one end alone and dealt with my partners operation. Every care was taken. Everything explained. She wasn't strong afterwards and they couldn't have done enough to keep her safe. I'd like to thank the Mayhill Unit for its sheer professional approach. She s not good with being around people but they were kindness itself.
Y. A.
This hospital was really stretched with a que of ambulances wait outside with seriously ill and the staff were absolutely amazing thank you NHS just to say you are loved
N.
Fantastic care a&e was so busy and yes it took time to be seen, but the time, care and compassion shown by the healthcare assistant and Dr was second to none. Thank you for restoring my confidence in gloucester royal :)
D. L.
I had very nasty road accident. Couple months out from normal life. Many visits in hospital and I could say doctors are very helpful even funny. They reduced my stress caused by many visits in hospital. It was hard time for me and really want to say thank you.
I. H.
Clean with friendly staff..... Good care
S. J.
Unexpected stay for two days for my wife following a concussion. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Very helpful, very friendly and very reassuring. My heartfelt thanks to all on Tower Ward 8A
c. B.
My holiday in the Cotswolds was cut short due to acute appendicitis necessitating a visit via A&E to ward 5b.
Through out my brief stay under care of Mr Scott & his firm all staff were outstanding and a real credit to the NHS and your Foundation Trust. Well done!

I was being tested for allergies when I mentioned a strange-looking mole that recently appeared and grown in a very short space of time.
The consultant examined it and immediately made a decision to have it removed. 30 minutes later the procedure was done and removed tissue sent off to the lab.
This is the most professional approach (from the doctor and amazing nurses who were warm, supportive and professional) I have ever encountered in years of using various public services. I cannot find enough words to express my gratitude and admiration.
Thank you.

Having gone to Stroud hospital, then transferred to Gloucester A&E, then the cardiac ward, then over to Cheltenham Hartpury ward then up to Cardiac Care at Cheltenham hospital I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who treated and cared for me. From the Consultants to doctors, nurses, phlebotomist, ultrasound staff, pharmacist, students, housekeepers and porters everyone was kind, caring and their knowledge and skills made me feel safe at what was a very scary time. All hospitals worked so well together making my journey smooth. Thank you all very much. 5 stars is not enough x
E. E.
Oh my GOD! This hospital is very useful and helpful. When I had a 45 minute seizure I was taken straight through and treated. Great job staff team.
S. P.
I stayed here for just over a week in the respiratory ward (floor 8 ward B) with pneumonia, all the staff were very attentive and caring and looked after us all very well, clearly overworked but made it a lovely recovery for me. And the food was so nice! 😀 Thank you!
C. C.
No stars for the overly dismissive receptionist who claimed my daughter was 'another victim of the winter vomiting bug' but 5 stars to the excellent doctor and the other medical staff who diagnosed a ruptured appendix. The ambulance staff who transferred my daughter to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital were brill too, as were the staff there.
F. H.
My husband has had outpatient appointments with two consultants, Dr Pandya (Haematology) and Dr Hollywood (Heptology) over the past two days. Both doctors (and all the other staff we met) were exceptionally approachable, thorough and professional. We have come away from both sessions feeling that we could not be in better hands.
J. S.
I went to Edward Jenner clinic to do a blood test and they told me that was closed 25 minutes early that they was scheduled. I stayed here at 16.20 and they closed at 16.45. Shame it
I went another day at 15.30 and they called me for the blood test. The staff is really nice
G. S.
Broke my ankle up at the crem three weeks ago, all the help I received from the ambulance crew, nurses, theatre staff, surgeons etc was first class, everyone was friendly, helpful, caring and cheerful, I cannot fault any aspect of the care I received and am still receiving. You all do a marvelous job, THANK YOU !
C. R.
Always pestered about wearing a mask. I'm exempt, but it still annoys me.
R. R.
How does the NHS get such a bad rap?
Clearly some of the buildings are a little tired but available funding is not a bottomless pit
I was a day patient for surgery in ENT
All the staff were friendly courteous efficient and professional
Return the leadership of hospitals to clinicians with appropriate organisational trading and it will be even better
Thank you all at Gloucester Royal ENT

Appointments was 10 .40 seen within the time, which was 30 mins. Can't grumble about that. Staff do amazing job considering the hours they do. Have always received excellent service.
J. G.
Well organised, friendly staff, very helpful and considerate

The treatment I received whilst I was in hospital was second to none.

Went to A and E at 6am this morning. Fantastic treatment by amazing, friendly staff. Would not let me go until happy I had a safe path to follow.
A. J.
The medical staff were superb, very professional and caring. Was seen quickly. The building is a bit worn around the edges but is very clean and kept tidy.
F. H. C. D.
The staff were very professional and friendly. Although it was a long wait, my grandaughter who had fallen down the stairs, and my 2 year old grandson, were very calm, and I felt this was due to the reassurance of the staff.
J. W.
So far, I have waited seven hours. Staff are brilliant for the most part, but the waiting is ridiculous. I'm sure seven hours is over the limit, set by guidelines.

i spent all day yesterday on the may hill unit with my son who has a learning disability who needed 14 teeth removed and i have nothing but admiration for all the staff but particularly Louise and Freya who looked after my son for most of his stay my the only thing wrong with the day was that pre opp had not sent is notes to the ward and a very busy Louise had to chase them up and this meant my son missed his slot on the list (one star for pre opp) once again many thanks to all on may hill unit
