We parked a 10min walk away from the hotel for £6.50 for 48 hours.
From the minute we walked into the hotel the staff where friendly and welcoming everywhere was clean looking and well looked after.
Our room had two big windows over looking the street, both the bathroom and bedroom were clean and spacious.
Would definitely recommend to anyone needing center accommodation.

The hotel was very clean & in a good central location. The superior double room was spacious and had a Nespresso coffee machine, dressing gowns and slippers. The bathroom was lovely with a very large powerful shower & a big sink basin.
The breakfast was good and served to you by waiting staff
The Bacchus cellar bar below the hotel is well worth a visit for it's unique decor and intimate nature.
We did have one issue in the afternoon with the room not having any heating on but by the time we returned from our evening out this had been rectified & the room was warm enough to sleep in.
Overall a satisfactory stay in a beautiful hotel. 👍😃

Nice centrally located hotel within a stone's throw of New Street train station. Decor inside is nice but wouldn't say good value for money for the room rates. Staff are good and decent WiFi throughout. £4.50 for a hot chocolate probably the most expensive on earth 😳
M. C. (.
Centrally located, outside new street train station entrance but still quiet. Clean, spacious rooms. Breakfast staff extremely friendly and efficient. A slight problem with B4 parking on departure but this was sorted out by Lyndsey Bratt after we got home. The after stay care makes all the difference. Thank you Lyndsey. We will definitately stay again but will probably get the train next time as the hotel is ideally located for train travel.

Professionally staffed with a warm, friendly welcome. Comfy, spotless, well maintained and equiped rooms.
The full english breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts i have had.
This is my 'go to' Birmingham hotel now.

Nice friendly staff, clean rooms and a lovely cosy bed! Would have been good to have some bottled water in the room as it was eye-wateringly expensive to buy (shops closed), must plan better next time!! The breakfast though was worth every penny, absolutely delicious perfect vegan breakfast and started the day off very nicely. Thankyou

Difficult one as Hotel and room is a 4 star easily. Really spacious and clean room (408). Staff fantastic and really helpfull. Only down side, and loss of star, is outside noise. We stayed here for 2 nights and first night never slept as opposite New Street Station, so lots of shouting (not hotel's fault). Windows not very well sound proofed, (I actually thought they were open, but they weren't) which made for an awful night's sleep. Second night I slept well... Probably due to lack of sleep/ day at cheltenham, but woken at 5 by singing outside.
If windows sound proofed would easily highly recommend, but not sure I would stay here again, sadly.

I stayed here for work and loved it. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food in the resturant is really nice. Rooms are big and are really clean and comfortable. Prime location close to station and all amenities.

Staff are great. Breakfast was lovely. Room was on 5th floor nice and quiet.
Decor a bit tired.
Evening Restaurant let it down - we were eating on a monday night, think the chips might have been cooked on the Saturday and "refried" on Monday to go with my medium rare steak - they hadn't heard of blue!
Really close to the courts and the shopping centre.
Bed was super-comfy and huuuuge!

We had our meals brought upstairs to us as my husband is disabled. The operative who brought the meals was quite put out that she couldn't find us because something had been missed off the order to say where we are. She was very rude. There is no need to be like this. A mistake had been made, we weren't complaining. Shan't visit again.

Love, love, love The Bacchus Bar beneath the Burlington. Tucked away in a quiet spot well worth seeking out. Quirkily decorated with plenty of alcoves and separate seating areas. Truly a one off.

Absolutely lovely hotel clean friendly fantastic location for Absolutely everything you could want to do around the town ... cannot believe I have never used it before its the best .... had a suite well worth it so mush room.
A. S.
Staff all friendly and welcoming room was nice and clean although a but dated. WiFi didn't work at all. Only issue had was in the morning at 6.30am/7am someone was banging and rattling about on the scaffolding which was shocking and the fire alarm done two short sirens bang on 10am which seemed as if it was a 1 hour warning to check out which was quite rude as when I asked there wasn't any indication of a fire alarm test. Besides that the bed was comfy but the TV as other have said like the room is dated. Expected a bit more from a 4 star hotel in fairness.

Took partner for her birthday as it was 2 years since we last went that was also for her birthday, all I can say is Stephen our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable meals were excellent looking forward to return visit in near future

Lovely Victorian hotel right in the centre of town opposite New Street station.
Welcoming;
Clean & fresh rooms;
Staff friendly helpful & efficient;
Excellent Breakfast though service chaotic;
Bar prices steep - £3.50 for teeny bowl of Crisps/£5 for teeny portion Chips;
Recommend!

The hotel is really posh and worth the money I spent but breakfast not included . The room is lovely and bed nice comfy
L. H.
Very friendly staff and very covid secure. Room and bathroom were clean. Standard room was quite small, maybe because the bathroom was bigger than normal but especially where the bed was is quite narrow. Small TV. Great location right in the heart of Birmingham Town centre which made for a noisy night even though we were 4 floors up. Draughty windows but because of the thick curtains it wasn't cold. Comfy bed, but I would say size wise it's a small double rather than a double bed. Loved the long corridors, felt like i was on a cruise ship!!!! Asked to leave our suitcases as we had a late coach back to London and the staff were very happy to oblige so thank you very much for that!!!
H. U.
Lovely quaint hotel, tucked away in the middle of a shopping arcade. Clean and comfortable and food was good.
M. H.
Always makes me smile staying here! GF pancakes for breakfast. Lovely evening meal. Right on New Street for Christmas Market. Perfect!

Hotel lovely, staff so nice .. made a very special gesture fir us both due to our anniversary.. but must say the breakfast was like faulty towers .. very very poor
N. W.
Staff are really nice, lovely building, the noise outside is not as it goes on all night, ask for a room facing away from the city centre
P. A.
VG. Good staff. Extremely near New Street train station. VG double beds. Large rooms. Double-glazing needs replacing to keep out noise from street below
s. r.
Very welcoming staff, hotel very comfortable. It has been refurbished to to very high standard.
C. W.
Lively bar large selection of beers, popular with an older profile. Friday's they. Close around 12.
B. M.
Enjoyed my 2 nights stay. A huge double room with a 4 poster bed, just for me. Very clean couldn't fault it. Loved the food, lovely waiter, very attentive to my daughter and me. Loved the atmosphere of the place. Would love to go again
N. F.
Great location, but can be noisy at night when cocktail bar down from hotel closes. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was a suite of rooms with beautiful clean bathroom . Complimentary wine, coffee and water all available.. We have stayed at this hotel several times , and would always return.
* and return we did !! We booked a smaller suite this time and the standard is as high as before !
T. K.
Had a group booking in Burlington Hotel birmingham for a meal
Staff excellent service. Food good value recommends steak and also the Haddock
P.
First impressions are good with friendly front staff and a grand entrance. Lift was not working so had to use staff lift which was awful. Room was cold and heating did not work but a quick call to reception got it fixed. Bar was good with a really friendly barman, although it shut at 9.30pm so we ended up with a cup of tea in our room instead.
Rooms are very dated and the details are really poor and badly finished. Including the small Phillips TV from 1990's
Now we have the heating working, it's really loud and sounds like a kettle constantly boiling. I guess this drowns out the rumbling of the trams from the road below.
Rooms seem clean but the beds are very springy and boing when moving in them..
You have to commit to a time for breakfast which is restrictive. We had full English with choice of eggs (vegan available). Tea coffee, yoghurt with fresh berries, toast, fresh pastries. All of it was really nice
e. m.
Hotel staff very helpful. Very clean throughout the building, room was spotless & comfy
F. P.
Worst night sleep I had. This is a hotel in the middle of a busy city centre, with construction next to it, which was working through out the night. With that been said, the really comfortable bed ever, the room was really spacious, the services were very adequate in the middle of a pandemic. Breakfast was one of the best I had, simple English muffins with lots of bacon and a fried egg. Served in room service for an extra £5. The room was cleaned and with a seal for reassurance.
reception was more than helpful and friendly.
The long corridor remind us "The shinning" with that old building creepy sense, loved it!!
Would I stay there again? Yes!
Would I recommend the hotel? Yes
E. H.
Great dinner bed and breakfast stay for our anniversary, had a lovely stay, room was nice and modern, but with old school charm for the hotel. Dinner was really high quality, restaurant just lacked atmosphere. Breakfast was great too, would definitely go back. Location good but as we were facing the station/trams was a little noisy but didn't really bother us as was quiet sunday morning till 8am
G. W.
Fantastic location. Friendly staff and a brilliant breakfast.
C. O.
Functional but little comfort considering its a 4 star hotel
A. N.
Amazing stay! Exactly what I needed. It's slightly pricey but, it was definitely worth it
M.
Very beautiful hotel , located in the heart 💓 of Birmingham . Rooms very comfortable and excellent 😉 breackfast and service.
Z. A.
Great venue for meeting or conference. I was there to celebrate 6 years for a company that is changing lives.
E. B.
Lovely room, staff very friendly but the room was extremely loud all night with it being right next to the station. The TV was really old and needed replacing. The bed could also have done to have been a bit bigger. The bathroom was perfect and a great size. Great location as right near all amenities.
S. M.
Stayed here on a DBB deal. Hotel is located just across the street from Birmingham New Street station and its location in the city centre is ideal for shopping & eating experience with Bull Ring and Grand Central nearby. Hotel is dated but well maintained. Get restaurant window table to watch people go by. Hotel probably just getting back up and running after Covid and so very quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff and we single out Alexandro for going the extra mile to make our stay particularly memorable. Would use again on a return visit to Birmingham.
K. W.
Went to a beautiful wedding here. Everything looked amazing and the staff were friendly.
D. T.
The most helpful staff who can't do enough for you. Rooms are extremely comfortable also and position in centre of Birmingham can't be bettered
m. k.
Lovely old hotel ideally located in the centre of Birmingham opposite Grand Central (New st station)
J. L.
Very comfortable stay, good food and friendly, helpful staff. Thank you
c.
Old and dated. Taps didn't work too well and the iron and hair dryer were faulty. Poor night's sleep due to external noise. Stayed Saturday night and the glass recycling bins got emptied at 0545 Sunday morning 😫
N. L.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Our visit was unfortunately over the covid period, but the hotel set up arrows for one way.
The room was spotless, i got the suite that i wanted and they made our anniversary special!
Friendly staff and located in a great area.
100% would stay again!
J. R.
Building is beautiful, the staff are super friendly and efficient. Our room was lovely and the breakfast excellent. Would definitely recommend.
M. H.
Firstly the hotel staff are very helpful and welcoming. We have stayed here last year and this year was as delightful. Food was lovely and at dinner Erina and Jonathan we really lovely. Staff like these should be mentioned. Hotel is very clean and has loads of character. A really pleasure and we will most definitely be back.
A. K.
Popped in to use the spotless loos. Thank you so much. Classy looking place.
G. M.
Really nice hotel, friendly staff, wonderful room, awesome breakfast!! Superb location!!
D. B.
Excellent hotel, receptionist welcoming. Staff exceptional, we were a group of 9 ladies on a hen party. Anthony in the restaurant and his bar staff looked after us extremely well. Rooms clean. Bed comfortable. Would highly recommend. Made our weekend extra special.
L. O.
Positive. Lovely attentive Staff. Reception inviting and fresh. Bedroom clean in areas. Shower was great.
Bar good with great music
Negative booked a table in the restaurant. Over 50 minutes later still waiting for food. No updates as to why it was taking so long so we left. Was given a free drink!!!
I found a nail clipping on the inside of the bed. Gross. Mould in bathroom. Net and curtains covered in dust.
J. J.
Excellent stay, central location, clean and lovely helpful staff. Would recommend!
C. C.
I stayed there with my daughter and we arrived to early to check in but I was asking a few questions and they where answered the receptionist also held our bags which ment I could walk around Birmingham easy, on check in time the receptionist remembered my name and also handed me my bag, we went to the room which was amazing and went down to the bar 30 minutes early for dinner the restaurant was amazing and the food was perfect the wait staff where fantastic and couldn't do more for us, after a great night's sleep we went down for breakfast which was just as satisfying as the dinner the night before, overall the stay was amazing we felt like Queens and will definitely stay again and recommend to all friends da and family
J. M.
Great location....lovely huge room and great breakfast
K.
Lovely hotel with very clean rooms. However, since we have climate emergency and biodiversity falls free, it would be nice if we all did our little parts to reduce waste and plastic pollution. To the hotel management - Would you move from single use plastic toiletries to dispensers? Would you make your dining menu a bit less carnivore? I don't think all your guests so necessarily need meat. By including more veggie choices you too could inspire customers to have a healthier diet.
J. B.
Lovely staff and room. Dinner was fabulous! Breakfast was the only letdown, having to go to separate room for juice and toast. Table wasn't set properly and the first server was a bit stressed and surly. She went to her manager who took over taking our orders. Food was perfect.
K. F.
Brilliant location, breakfast excellent and staff really friendly!
V. W.
Extremely convenient location. Luxury feel/loom to the corridors but our room was a bit dark, I expected a grand reception area but was rather plain and forgettable. My daughter had a meal in the evening, she said it was a bit sparce and nothing to shout about really despite their big advertising board in reception. Room was clean, there were quite a few steps to our room even after taking the lift to our floor. I would stay again purely because the location couldn't be any more ideal for the city centre and just across the road from Grand Central.
D. C.
My stay was okay. There was a clothes moth in my room when I arrived, the decor is a little dated, but everything else was clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast the first morning was good, the second morning was not. Very good location for the city centre and for the train station. On first night I was woken up by someone banging on my door at 4am, which was unfortunate. Overall, fine.
P. R.
I had a decent day in a comfortable tidy room. The hotel is convenient right outside New Street station. The restaurant was decent enough. Breakfast was waitress or waiter served rather thank self-serve buffet style. The bed was old and soft and probably could do with a mattress replacement. But the staff service throughout was excellent and our conference meeting rooms the following day were acceptable too.
G. B.
Polite and courteous staff, from reception through to catering and bar staff. The rooms are well kept although the air con is a bit noisy. No shortage of amenities, pillows and towels in good supply. Bed was firm enough, no lumps or anything to distract from a good night's sleep. Upholstery and paintwork all in good condition throughout the hotel.
Reduced rate parking available at the nearby NCP, they validate the ticket at reception. The car park is very tight if you have a larger vehicle.
Excellent location for train services, station literally opposite the hotel entrance.
C. N.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable and spacious especially the bathroom. The bed was lovely and a complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch. Breakfast was fine other than the service was a bit hit and miss and not very organised. Some tables were served immediately or some like ours had to ask to order breakfast/coffee and toast .On the whole we had an enjoyable stay and will be staying again in the future
D. R.
Overall, fine. Staff efficient but not super friendly. Lobby and communal areas are a bit tired. In the room a new looking and functioning en-suite bathroom was v.good. bed comfortable. 2 major issues, windows did not open when wanted to naturally ventilate room (this is 2020 not 1980, I think we're past hermetically sealed hotels now) and the wi-fi was medium speed (big problem for business travellers).
C. S.
A comfortable bed and excellent location but the hotel felt a little dated to me. As a solo female visitor it felt a bit like a maze getting from the lift to my room. Maybe asking for a room near the lift would help. Other than that, a pleasant and large room, nice toiletries and quiet despite the central location.
L. H.
We have stayed here previously and always been very happy. This visit surpassed our expectations! We were given one of the spacious newly refurbished rooms which we really enjoyed. We appreciate the still and sparkling water! Our breakfasts were excellent with service to the table.
The service throughout the hotel is exceptional. Not intrusive but very attentive. Thanks again!
And the hotel is situated in the middle of the city and very close to the station.
R. A.
The room I had was great, modern, comfortable and a nice big bathroom. The hotel in general harks back to its grand old days so it's dated but fine. The cooked breakfast was dreadful, nothing fresh on that plate, I couldn't eat it.
P. F.
Great breakfast, served at your table. Rooms are a bit tired, but the bed was comfortable. Everything nice and clean. Old hotel interior, but still exudes class. Staff kindly and attentive, a good experience if you’re bored of the corporate feel.
D. W.
Nice hotel, clean and looked after well
C. M.
Stayed here on a Friday night. Firstly I made a mistake whilst booking and thankfully the reception staff were incredibly helpful and fixed the problem right away.
The location of the hotel is amazing, right opposite the rear entrance to new street station or off the main high street. Check in was quick and pleasant, the lounge area surrounding reception is large and comfortable if you did have to wait.
Very impressed by the room, exactly what I was looking for, it exuded luxe in all the right ways without being ostentatious which is a careful balance.
The included toiletries and robes are a nice touch and we found a half bottle of complementary red wine in the room as well as two bottles of water which was lovely!
Bed and bedding was comfortable and soft with a crisp linen feel to it. The room was quiet throughout the night.
We opted for the breakfast which is served in one of the bar dining areas. It’s a buffet style continental breakfast with an option of a hot course. We both went for the avocado and poached egg.
This, unfortunately, was the only area we were let down in, the avocado was described as crushed but in reality it was puréed into a green snot like consistency and tasted only of citrus meaning that this was prepared well in advance and not fresh by any standard. It was essentially in edible and a massive shame.
Overall though I was impressed with the experience and would definitely stay again, it is particularly good value mid week. For reference book through the hotels own website as the deals on there are better than booking sites...
R. A.
Fabulous service, beautiful hotel. The view was over all the roof and extra system. Room 219, ask for a better view if possible. Breakfast is lovely, full English served at your table and a beautifully presented continental. When my wife came back from shopping the manager came over and said she needed a drink, what could he get her. Old world class.
E. F.
Faded grandeur, clearly a once beautiful hotel showing now a tired demeanour and work edges.
Many aspects aren't "quite there" - multiple wiring repairs have left old non functioning lights and switches in place, bathrooms show evidence of old leaks and fixes. Asthmatic air conditioning struggles to cool a hot room and breakfast is invariably under or wrongly cooked.
A cheerful staff do their best and are probably the highlight of the show. I really hope this beautiful building can get the investment it deserves.
P. M.
Very good hotel, simple but straightforward, with everything you want. Comfortable bed, and as quiet as you can realistically expect being in Birmingham city centre opposite New Street. Having both a bath and shower was nice. Recommend booking directly with them online, as they'll give you £10 credit for the bar/food etc.
S. N.
The hotel has a nice traditional style. The building layout is somewhat unique - sometimes the rooms can be a bit of a distance depending where you are on a particular floor. Staff were friendly although sometimes I felt maybe there should be two people at reception. I only had cereal for breakfast, which was fine so cannot comment on the other options. Room itself was clean, included an iron which was handy and a bottle of sprint water daily.
U. F. F.
Good points : super near the station, genuine no taxi situation. Quality of food ingredients first class; my steak was first class- individual staff friendly and attentive and genuine.
However: it really needs an serious going over by The Hotel Inspector. Dated decor. Grubby walls in bedrooms. Dusty bath so housekeeping needs work. Someone needs to take the walls in the dining room to B&Q to discuss wallpaper. The cosy factor would really increase the wow factor. This hotel is begging for a makeover to complement the excellent staff and talented kitchen.
S. T.
I really couldn’t fault any of the staff. The welcome was genuine, the scouse bar-woman was chatty and friendly, and the breakfast team were swift and accommodating to my needs. The location was also very central and perfect for my requirements. The room however, was dated (wall paper peeling, lack of plug sockets - especially near the bed). My room in particular was street facing, and on a weekend it was ridiculously noisy - it felt like the DJ was in my room - thus making it difficult to sleep. I also had trouble sleeping due to the really soft pillows provided. I’ll be totally honest, I’ve had better stays in cheaper and more modern hotels in the same city.
J. W.
We have visited here on a few occasions. Mostly near to Christmas. We booked a suite on the 4th floor it was lovely huge bed a separate hallway and sitting room with 2 widescreen TVs. A sofa and chair. Lovely light fittings. Bathrobes and slippers. Fresh fruit and half a bottle of wine was waiting for us. We booked dinner in the lovely restaurant. Unfortunately they had only one member of staff to do all the waiting on. Jonathan is a very professional, courteous, knowledgeable person. He remained calm and collected in what were quite different circumstances. As it was coming up to the festive season and the German market being on it was very disappointing that the management had not put on extra staff. We were offered a free bottle of wine. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will visit again.
J. J.
Absolutely lovely hotel and the staff were gr8!!
S. c.
Basic hotel but very close to shopping and transport
M. W.
Friendly and polite greeting. Our room was upgraded when they found out it was our Wedding Anniversary. The room was clean and tidy. The bed was the biggest bed I've ever seen. Next morning the breakfast was excellent. Full continental buffet plus a full cooked English breakfast. Overall can't rate the hotel highly enough. Would recommend it to anyone.
L. H.
Really convenient location in the centre of Birmingham, directly beside the train station. Generally good quality hotel. My room was a bit tired but quiet and an okay shower. Breakfast was fine. Some of the staff were excellent and friendly. I would stay shin for the convenience.
G. H.
This is not such a prestigious hotel as others in the chain. Room very mediocre but we did have firm pillows as requested. Room service went out of their way to supply our needs. Front desk seems under staffed. Two receptionists dealing with one couple while the rest of us waited ages to check out. The hotel supposedly validated the overnight car park ticket but I was stuck at the barrier because it wasn't recognised. It demanded £9.20 fee to be paid. All the pay machines are on the street! With a queue building up behind me!!
M. &. J. B.
A quick hop across the road from New Street railway station & surprisingly quiet for a city centre hotel. Spacious, comfortable & clean rooms. Attentive & friendly staff. Disappointing breakfast on second morning after the waiter was in too much of a hurry to listen to our requirements. Such a contrast from the day before when breakfast was a very enjoyable experience with a vast selection of things to eat. This was addressed at check out with a refund in line with breakfast costs. Able to leave our luggage to enable us to explore the city further. Will definitely return
K. D.
Beautiful building! Makes you feel quite grand upon entering. Rooms clean, welcoming and tastefully decorated. Food amazing especially breakfast. The only drawback we found was outside noise during the early hours and early morning. Difficult to sleep as it was hot and we needed window open. Inner city hotel tho, noise has to be expected I guess!
D.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 night the booking was made by my employer and I was very disappointed, though the room was a nice size for one person and clean I found the decor was very dated and in urgent need of an updated, a iron and ironing board was provided but no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast for me was a big let down and had the impression it’s wasn’t freshly made as the beans had a skin coating on them and the fried egg yolk was burnt as if it had been under a grill for some time.
C. T.
Very nice hotel and excellent location. The room was next to the Train Station however so it was a little noisy. Oh and some street singer thinking he was Bob Marley until nearly 0100h didn't help either!! There are rooms on the opposite side though as we were informed when Checking out so we'll definitely ask for one of them next time.
T. M.
Cooked breakfast was amazing and there was a great selection. We were upgraded to a fabulous room on the 5th floor which was a lovely gesture and will definitely be back. There was a little noise throughout the night but it's a city centre hotel so nothing too unusual. The Burlington fit the bill perfectly on paper.
S. B.
Good location if you are travelling by train to new street station. Good food. Ridiculously only on hand dryer in gents which probably caters for a out 20 people at one time (sorry I did not count the utility Al's and the toilets!!!).
Most upsetting we had audible music coming when in one room and intermittent drilling / grinding noise in two of the lecture rooms I attended. Disappointing
A. A.
Lovely service really helpful staff. Room upgrades available upon request. Fantastic room size really quiet and peaceful. Very reasonable prices and directly opposite the train station and bullring shopping centre. Easy access and walking distance to the cube, library, mailbox and brindley place for shopping, eating and going out. It is also above a busy bar called Bacchus which is worth a visit. Would definitely recommend for a weekend trip or stay.
a. N.
Lovely location. Staff very friendly and helpful with where we needed to be. Food was excellent including the breakfast. Nice bar area with a reasonable selection of cocktails. The only negative i would say is the bathroom was looking very tired. Bath panel had paint peeling off and grout and sealant mouldy. Great location for the station
C. L.
The location of the hotel is great - right at the north exit of the Birmingham New Street Railway Station. The room is very spacious for a city centre hotel, and very well facilitated - cabled TV, built-in fridge, bottled drinking water, tea/coffee making items, complimentary toilettes, disposable slippers, ironing kit, hair dryer and compact safe are provided as standard. WiFi is available everywhere and easy to connect to, without any hassle of registration or limit on number of devices per guest. I stayed here for a conference, and was very happy about the quality of the catering, too. The only negative feedback was the noise from either the railway or the construction work outside my windows at night - I was weaken up several times in the evening. Overall, I think it is a good value for money for business trips.
D. H.
Not a bad hotel at all for Birmingham city centre. Rooms and restaurant are good. The old cellar bar has some fine, genuinely old decorative features. Very well situated if you arrive by train to New Street station. Not so good if you use their recommendation of a discounted multi-storey car park on the other side of the Bullring centre. Navigation to the hotel with heavy baggage is then not easy.
Why o why have they thrown away their heritage and renamed the Midland Railway Hotel?
T. R.
Can't say too much as barely stayed in the room, but the bed was very comfortable and the pillows superb! Was facing the street on the send floor but barely heard a thing, it was a very hot day (July 8th 2018) and the windows were booked evening shut but the air con was working perfectly and silently.
Breakfast was included with the room - self service is available with a small but decent range of cereals and cold meats / cheeses but if you're after a full English go for the that off the main menu - arrived in less than 10 mins but beware - if you're used to standard full English proportions you'll be disappointed - you'll get everything you asked for just it'll be at least half as big that you expected!
Still, perfectly done and my eyes are always bigger than my stomach anyway :)
L. D.
Excellent stay, friendly staff. Right in the centre.
M. F.
One lift for a massive hotel. Very limited vegetarian options, no vegan. At breakfast time two of the waitresses were swearing very loudly, the whole dining room could listen to them. Our room was very noisy during the 2 nights we stayed there.
S. N.
Amazing hotel and great attentive service. Room was superb with a lot of space that made you feel at home. Really valued the high ceilings and separate walk in shower.
N. S.
Fab place, large comfy clean room, character, convenient, fantastic staff and great food - cant really ask for more! Highly recommend
V. M.
Gorgeous hotel, beautifully furnished, lovely, comfy bed. Went during Christmas Market and had a great view of the market itself. Staff were miserable though... not even a 'good morning' when passing through corridors. Didn't eat at Hotel, so can't comment on food.
T. M.
The welcome on reception as I arrived was good. Upon arriving, the nice girl at check in said we had been upgraded to a suite. The room had lovely big windows which opened properly but due to the location of the hotel i dont think any room would have a fantastic view.
S. H.
Standard Macdonald old fashioned style hotel. Friendly staff, continental and cooked breakfasts available. Be ware if someone in your party is infirm as lots of staggered stairs/steps to navigate on certain floors once you have come out of the lifts. Very clean bedroom and bathroom.
S. K.
I attended the hotel as it was hosting a vegan fair, I was very impressed with the size of the rooms being used - in fact it was a far superior venue than the second location being used for the same event. The facilities were very good, everything was clean and there were well looked after toilets - which is very important when you are out all day. The location was great, accessable directly from New Street it was perfecy placed for the train station and the shops meaning I didn't have to worry about using local transport or getting lost.
L. G.
Staff were so helpful and welcoming throughout. Hotel room was clean and well maintained.
Being in the city centre I suppose some noise is unavoidable. Depending on which …
R. T.
I had a lovely stay here, I was here for work. The lovely staircase and marble pillars gives the hotel a grand feeling, however my highlight was Breakfast. The food was delicious and the staff were so amazing! Made me feel like a Queen, such good service 😎

Brilliant hotel, very nice clean rooms - one of the best hotel's I have stayed in! Staff were friendly and helpful and I had a brilliant nights sleep.
Only giving it 4 stars as it was hard to find the car park and we also weren't aware we had to pay £20 extra to stay in the car park overnight.
D. P.
An understated slice of Birmingham's historic hospitality. Well worth a visit, especially for you Peaky Blinders
R. S.
Nice hotel, right in the city centre, opposite new street station. Rooms were clean and tidy. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good as well. Only issue was the 'double' bed, not comfortable for two adult. Very small bed.
S. N.
Love it. Perfect location. It's a lovely building full of history. Some rooms are dated but beds a comfy and I find it charming. We always stay here when in town and it's only a stones throw from the shakespeare, the station, the shopping. Breakfast is ok but the briar rose is just around the corner if you don't do b & b
M. S.
This is a very nice hotel- clean and smart, with exceptionally high quality staff and plenty of small, unnecessary but lovely extras. We had a lovely stay there and will always use it for trips to Birmingham from now on. It's right in the heart of the shopping district, and New Street Station. We were surprised to find such a good hotel at such a reasonable price.
T. M.
Went for a ro***tic night and had splashed out on an upgrade to an executive room as it was a special occasion. The staff were the best that I have ever encountered in this country. Great value for such quality and of course location. Not only that but it's perfectly situated in the heart of Birmingham.
B. D.
Went here for a wedding. The place is really nice. The function went really good , the staff were friendly and even got down to some of the tunes. I would recommend this hotel if visiting Birmingham or needing a venue for a private function
M. R.
The hotel and rooms are a bit dated and are in desperate need of a revamp.
I tried to order room service when I got back around 11.30pm having been at a work event all day, but all they could offer was sandwiches or they suggested I call Dominos, which was a bit poor.
The room isn’t sound proofed so expect to be woken by outside noises, people walking down the corridor and by the person occupying the floor above.
The hotel location is good if you’re looking for somewhere central, but annoyingly the NCP they recommend using is a trek through the main train station and up a long flight of steps which isn’t great when it’s rush hour, it’s raining and you have a large suitcase.
Will I be staying here again, probably not!
T. M.
The AC worked and being a larger room and late at night we accepted this gratefully. You know the hotel was built in a different era from its marble stair ways to its enormously high ceilings, if it were crisp and modern feeling it'd be a disappointment. Location was ideal for the centre of Birmingham. Nearly excellent in fact.
M. W.
The hotel is perfectly located, however you have to walk to it because the road stops about 100 meters from the front door. The New Street train station is across the street (you can't hear the trains), the Bull ring market and shopping center is at the end of the road and there is a Tesco metro grocery store @ 100 meters away. With that said let's talk about the hotel. The pillows are flat, the beds are overly fluffy (messed with my back), no washcloths in the bathroom and you have to use your key card to turn on the electricity. They do have air conditioning in the rooms, nice mini fridge, no self laundry serves, no microwave, and access to ice is at the bar. The breakfast and continental buffet is wonderful and very good. The selection is quite extensive. The Check in and out were very simple. There are a lot of excellent pubs, shopping, and restaurants within minutes from the hotel.
S. D.
The main bad points:
- very cold rooms. The thermostat was on max and the room was still below 18 C.
- a lot of noise from pigeons (howling all night long) that it seems have made their home around the hotel.
Otherwise friendly staff and nice decor. Excellent location. Have not tried the food.
T. M.
I got a great deal on this hotel at £65 instead of. The hotel is in the city centre and all the main attractions are within easy walking distance. The original waitress returned and we requested again a move to the dining room. Not to mention, the room was smaller than my previous room and again this is so called executive room.
W.
It's quite a nice hotel, hidden as it is. I love Bacchus bar which is on the lower ground floor and surprisingly busy considering how hidden it is.
I did attend a seminar in the burlington which was very clean, efficient, with excellent facilities.
R. M.
Excellent hotel in the heart of Birmingham. Great for a city shopping trip.. loads of restaurants on the doorstep, so didn't use the restaurant there. staff were a bit miserable at times.. No acknowledgment to a 'good morning' from reception staff, just a blank stare... But all in all. Nice place to stay..
A. J.
Not 4 star standard. Rooms dated and need of maintenance. Breakfast poor. Cooked breakfast not good. Asked for poached egg, beans & mushrooms - got an egg yolk with straggled bit of white & 1 mushroom. Toast was hard and cold - no milk served with tea. Buffet poor selection. Location good.
J. N.
Attended the hotel for a conference. Facilities were excellent, food and drink very good, and staff very helpful. Location of hotel is handy for Birmingham New Street station. The Bacchus bar was very pleasant for a post conference networking session.
N. M.
Very luxurious looking hotel in Birmingham city centre close to all the restaurants and shops. We paid for a double room very disappointed to find a bed that appeared slight more spacious than a single bed. The breakfast was good with continental and sourdough toast but they could improve on the vegetarian option serving one Quorn sausage and one mushroom plus a mini hash brown was very disappointing that’s money I wasted. Noisy on first floor from Saturday nighters but definitely will not be revisiting again for the price we paid.
T. M.
The hotel is tired and the reception area has the aesthetics of a chain pub. Our room (311) was very tired and well overdue an upgrade in décor. Fair enough there is a cable in the room but that doesn't help when you use a tablet, as so ***y people do these days.
A. P.
Our annual trip to the Burlington was as good as ever overall.
Unfortunately breakfast service was odd. It lacked the usual slickness. My wife received her cooked breakfast so fast she hadn't even got half way through her cereal.
Must have been an off day.
T. M.
Our suite was gorgeous and looked out over the front of the hotel to the shops below. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and we were able to check in early. We have always stayed at the Malmaison in Birmingham and after this experience we will be returning to the Malmaison next time.
A. B.
Stayed 1 night. Room was clean but the bathroom ceiling had a lot of water damage and the tiled floor was coming up where the floor was rotting underneath.
Have stayed in this hotel a number of times and usually feel I get good value for my money this year my room cost more than usual and was of a poorer standard than usual.
D. M.
Very nice hotel that has been renovated over the years so it's still relatively modern whilst maintaining its charm. The rooms were a good size with everything you could need. Parking was offsite and a bit of a walk but otherwise it's a good hotel.
b. j. W.
This was a very happy stay Our bedroom was excellent and beautiful ly appointed All the staff.were charming. The reception area somehow did not reflect the comfort of the rest of the hotel. parking is not particularly difficult on local street
J. F.
Not been here before and often in Birmimgham for work. Very suprised. Massive room. Classic style with marble and panelling all round. Literally 20 seconds from New Street station. Breakfast isn't a buffet but was good and served in a quiet breakfast room. Will likely be my default hotel in future.
K. S.
Great stay at this hotel. Nice room, i will be honest that the view was of pipe work etc... BUT you are in a city centre.. what do people expect? Fantastic breakfast... would definitely stay again.
T. H.
Wonderful building and great breakfast, my room was spacious and very clean and good to see iron board as many hotels not providing now. Only four stars as no access to gym, come on burlington surely a deal with a local gym is achievable?
O. S.
Marney was amazing made everything wonderful.room comfortable a bit noisy but we were in the city centre.
T. D.
Debated between a 3 and a 4 but overall it was a pretty solid stay so. But needs a refurb to be any higher then 3 stars
Good bits: awesome location, great looking building, easy check in and check out, clean and comfy bed.
Down sides: overall the room was a little tired needs a referb, stayed in a suit and would have expected more from a suit, windows in room were locked I like to be able to open them, food ordering to the room stops at 2200 which I feel is too early.
Fire alarm went off at 1am which was annoying!
D. B.
Nice hotel. Good central location.
N. Y. T.
I bought and afternoon tea and all the food was delicious. Beautifully decorated hotel. I will definitely stay there one day to experience the grandeur.
S. K.
Went for the vegan fair, it was nicely decorated, a good size, very nice seating. It's location is in the city centre with easy parking 5 minutes away. The baby changing area could do with some improvement.
K. C.
Hotel does NOT have pool, no printer in business center, and no gym. If staying on upper levels, you WILL be woken up by laughing sea-gulls every morning, unless you're a heavy sleeper.
Parking at NCP New Street (car park) is confusing to get to due to construction blocking off the road to make it a one-way. Only found the place after driving around and around for about 1.5 hours. Found it on a left turn up a ramp on a curvy alley-street.Somebody else who stayed there found the place after about 6 hours. If parking at New Street, make sure to put in your navigator The Victoria (a restaurant/bar), or Enterprise Rent-a-Car Birmingham City Center, which is right next door on St. Jude's Passage.
Reason this is getting 5 stars is because the conference rooms are brand new, and staff are attentive. Richard at front desk will work his tail off for you, and high-five/high-four John who used to work front desk for years, but now works many jobs including breakfast is very friendly. Also, the waiter who works dinner hours is the rare, attentive kind.
Tons of shopping right outside of hotel complex. You can get groceries at the Tesco's practically steps away. Plus walk-able distance to St. Philip's Cathedral, and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
S. P.
Situated in the centre of Birmingham this cosy hotel is an ideal place to stay should you wish to attend an event in Birmingham. Although the rooms are very small and dated, they have a modern bathroom that feels clean and easy to use. The breakfast at this hotel is excellent and the service is excellent too. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
D. B.
Elegant hotel but let down by the catering. Over 30 min wait for both dinner and breakfast which arrived cold.
Lovely comfortable room but extremely noisy with street entertainment
during the day and evening and street cleaning from 3.30 am.
Housekeeping throughout the hotel was excellent as were the staff
P. S.
A charming and traditional hotel right in the city centre, directly opposite the new street station and with the new metro train running between the two. A big room and bathroom for just me in a twin, with tea and coffee making facilities, free shortbread and still water in the room. Clean quality towels and bedlinen and nice toiletries. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the public areas such as the reception, grand looking marble stairs and dining room with twinkling chandeliers were lovely. The negatives...my bathroom glass door had a dirty blackish mark about halfway down that rubs off on my hand. My inner bedroom door had black marks. The dated carpet had marks or dents in a few places. The tv didn't work but a lady from reception did try to fix it. She succeed but then it failed again so I had to keep fiddling with the ariel. My dinner was tasty but my steak was over cooked and not cooked medium rare as requested, and the meal was small. My breakfast I'm glad my work paid for as at 17.50 full price I'd feel it was overpriced for the amount you get. They can't help my sleepless night due to the noise from the trams, but without adequate sound proofing from the outside noise, I barely slept at all. It really won't take much to fix the cleaning of doors and maybe thinking about replacing stained or dented carpets when viable, so not a big thing. They may want to think about menu prices with quality and portions though. At the least, just not over cook a steak in the 'steakhouse' restaurant.
P. P.
Beautiful old hotel, well maintained and conveniently located. I was upgraded, the room was very plush, a bit cold but a lovely facility. Good value and quality in the restaurant is a bonus.
M. S.
Great award evening food superb company 👌
N. F.
We went here for a christmas do and stay over, Easy enough to find but if you drive don't take the car here take public transport as parking was evil! We had to park about a mile away from the hotel and there is no sign posts on how to get there but its right opposite new street station.
The reception area was nice the room was dinky and our room which was 330 was over looking the german market. We didn't really hear anything as we came back so late from the party that was weak as hell. The DJ played reggae to Bangra to 80's! how does that even flow and he wouldn't take any requests for upto date tunes from a colleague.
The food was average at best don't start me on the Breakfast a paltry portion for an English breakfast. I Did however manage to get a hot chocolate with my breakfast exceptional. Service by the staff was great no issues at all.
However we just arrived to the hotel and was approached by a porter who overheard us talking about breakfast, then proceeded to tell us not to eat it as its not worth it and to go to mcDonalds! WOW
I am giving it a 3 star average as the service staff were great the other parts let it down for me.
K.
Came for a boxing event which was really good. From what I saw of the hotel it was really nice and not shabby. The drink prices are extortionate it cost £18 for a double Gin & Tonic and a pint of Stella.
T. M.
Having stayed at this hotel before I'd wanted to go again but hadn't been able to get a deal that I could afford. Our breakfast was included in the rate we paid and so watch out if it's not included, because it would cost you. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming.
D. W.
Hotel itself was lovely, staff were great, rooms excellent. The food on the other hand, chips were cold and not cooked properly, full breakfast was cold, everything was over cooked, restaurant was really disappointing.
R. T.
Pleasant enough hotel, nice staff. Location is very noisy though. Full english breakfast a little on the small side.
C. H.
Have stayed here 3 times in total so far... extremely central... fabulous rooms and incredible staff great dining... nothing was too much trouble.... and shall return again without hesitation
C. J.
Old school hotel with a lot of character but is still clean and modern. Very spacious rooms and bathrooms. I would recommend not driving here as the car park is a 7 minute walk away which is inconvenient with suitcases.
T. M.
A very impressive entrance to the hotel and when we checked in we were upgraded. A little bit of courtesy or an apology or even a crack of a smile would of been good. We walked to Brindley Place for something to eat which is about 15 minutes walk away.
K. C.
Attended the Burlington as a conference delegate. The rooms were spacious and the food served was excellent - in small bite size pots and pieces. The let down was the temperature, the room was freezing, and despite our asking for this to be altered, we unfortunately had to endure sitting in our coats, gloves and scarves for the day, which was unproductive to say the least.
T. M.
The break fast is not even worth eating because they serve almost nothing. Rooms are very dated and run down we stayed in room 233 and the curtains were falling off and didn't close together. Windows were dirty and essentially the whole room sub standard. I would not return here.
T. M.
The hotel for our weekend break was just so brilliant from check to check out. The attitude of the staff was positive and every query was dealt with quickly and courteously. Absolutely ideal for a city centre break or more it is right in the middle for shops markets and train station.
J. B.
Attended a group lunch event. Food was fantastic. Unfortunately bar was not staffed all the time.
Facilities very good apart from no toilet tissue in the disabled loo on the Horton suite level.
G. L.
The hotel is quite nice but not exceptional. We had a standard room which was pretty small and boiling hot. You couldn't get a more central location.
S. S.
The new girl you just employed has not got a chance in hell, however the bar member gentleman- 50 ish was an absolute star knew his water from a tonic lol
g. m.
My wife and I stayed in the hotel just before Christmas.
Its location is perfect, right on the main high street and next to the station. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, the food was very good and would recommend.
Our room was on the 4th floor and was very generously sized with a large bathroom.
I would say the only critiscms I have is that the decor in our room was slightly dated and could do with a spruce up. And because we drove it was recommended that we parked in the NCD Multi Story (to recieve heavily discounted prices through the hotel). Due to roadworks the carpark was hard to find, the location of the Hotel from it isnt obvious (walk through the station opposite).
All in all we had a great time and would definitely stay at the hotel again.
C. S.
Really nice hotel, just breakfast very disappointing and small
J.
Beds weren't on fire, much better than the last place I went.
R. L.
Very local to the train station. friendly staff. Room was clean and spacious. Did not dine there but food looked good and well prepared.if a bit pricey
R. H.
Hotel very well located by New Street station. Spacious rooms with nice decor if a little rough around the edges up close. Cooked breakfast was excellent! Reasonable rates and would stay again.
B. L.
Nice hotel. It is old hotel but renee the inside. Also the room is quite big. The location is 3mins to the nee street train station. Here is many shopping centre near hear. Everything is good.
D. S. S. P.
Attended a conference here. Its in the middle of city centre. So cant reach it by car. Can park by street further away and pay by ringGo. Hotel is great. Has good food. Nice hall. Has shops around.
B. O.
Lovely, love the room, bathroom. Whole layout . The lobby Furniture needs a tad touch up,but all in all its bliss n located just outside GrandCrentral.
L. w.
Centrally located close to some great bars and restaurants. Close by to shops, breakfast is always nice, beds comfortable rooms opposite New Street Station can be a little noisier. Don’t forget to grab a drink downstairs in the Bacchus Bar 🥂
I. P.
Rooms was well maintained. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Housekeeping is good. Food was nice spread and tasty. Staff are by and large helpful.
M. E.
Staff at the hotel were very good, helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our breakfast.
L. C.
Gorgeous pub and bar with fantastic and interesting artwork. It's insanely busy though, too the point where buying a drink or finding somewhere to stand let alone sit is an uphill struggle. Expensive drinks, but not much different from anywhere else in central Birmingham.
T. M.
The hotel probably was great about 20 years ago. You would think someone might tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, they had what I now know to be a Mark Jenkins Party Night taking place and all we could hear was the thump thump thump of the music.
W. H.
Could stay the two nights origionally booked for due to personal circumstances. they upgraded us and gave us breakfast to try and balance out the loss vs cost. above and beyond when we booked non transferable rooms. thank you so much
R. P.
Clean, spacious room.
Well presented breakfast.
Only issue was the lack or parking but that's a common issue for city centre hotels.
J. H.
The staff were lovely and polite. The rooms were clean although rather warm. Each room has a service menu and phone.
P. B.
Slightly faded grace of this unusually styled hotel is comfortably reassuring. Very convenient from Bham New St station. Cheap o/n parking, if a slight walk away.
K. A.
Very nice room although a little daated but some people like that. Food was nice although you have to pay for quality you do get it.
K. Q.
Lovely hotel, great location for New Sreet rail station inc. Tram stops and Bull Ring shopping complex including Central Park within New St Station.
H. A.
Room was a little dirty (202 look for the spoon under the chair), and the windows couldn't block out the sound from the tram. Also I was awoken at 7:45am with a shrill fire alarm and we left to find our own way.. with no reimbursement
S. B.
Really classy place with a amazing old features...
T. M. C. T.
Handy location for visiting town. Beautiful room. Had a lovely sandwich brought up. Booked directly for a free £10 food and drink voucher
M. H.
Nice rooms, excellent conference facilities. Great staff. Thanks for a lovely stay. Also great location and good discount on local NCP car park
M.
Great hotel the best I've stayed in comfortwise. The bath and shower were great the room was spacious the only let down was the constant ringing from the fire alarm that went off every 45 seconds about 60-70times.
I. P.
A good hotel right in the heart of Birmingham and very near New Street train station mean this is a great place to stay when visiting Birmingham. It's right in the centre of the shopping area and easy access to everywhere else via public transport.
B. P.
Attended a conference there. Convenient position very near the main railway station. Lovely building. Spacious and comfortable. Good catering. Pleasant.
S. S.
I attended a work event at the hotel conference room for 1 day. The service was excellent and the facilities were in very good condition. The only thing wrong was that the air-conditioning was set to be like a walk-in freezer.
T. M.
Stay here every time we come to Birmingham for the beauty show at the nec. Very central to Birmingham and very close to Birmingham New Street Station. Very handy for all city centre shops, stations etc. Hotel is in a great location close to the shopping centre. We will definitely return.
M. L.
Beautiful hotel, excellent staff on reception, lovely rooms with comfortable beds. Didn't have breakfast as reviews are not that good.
M. B.
Good staff, rooms were tired, with dirty walls. Was street facing, so loud crowds outside did not make for a restful night. Breakfast was good.
C. S.
The hotel is in a location next to the grand central station, the décor is getting a little dated now but still the hotel charge a premium for the location. The breakfast has a reasonable choice but again charges a premium for some of the cooked selections.
T. R.
Lovely Hotel good food
R. H.
I was here for a conference so cannot comment on the rooms but the conference facilities and general feel of the place was really very nice and I would 100% look at staying over if we hold another event here or if I need a place to stay on Birmingham
O. S.
Went there for a business meeting. Nice looking place, decent room. It was quite cheaply priced. The lunch (hot, buffet) looked and tasted pretty cheap too though.
M. J.
It's a nice hotel but starting to look a bit shabby. Average meal in function room and slow bar service, but the staff are very friendly.
J. M.
This hotel is lovely, has a lot of character, and is reasonably priced. I particularly liked the marble interior and old Midland stained glass windows hidden around the place.
M. R.
Absolutely amazing hotel, great staff especially Richard on the desk, I stupidly left my phone in the room when I checked out and it was found and kept safe for collection later. The staff couldn’t have done more to assist with everything :)
M. H.
Comfy bed, lovely high-ceilinged rooms, excellent breakfasts, especially the black pudding. Rooms on station side might be too noisy for some.
S. R.
Very nice staff. Great location
G. H.
Great location, very plush public spaces. Bedroom is a little small but perfectly comfortable and not wanting anything. I would stay here again.
A. L.
Nice, clean hotel, centrally located, restaurant onsite, good breakfast to get you going. Front desk is accomodating. I would definitely visit again if in the area.
T. M.
Quite pricey for the quality really and so I can't recommend staying here. There were no rooms available at the 2pm check in time and I had to come back at. The ***ager wasn't available so I passed my comments on again to the receptionist ***** with my contact details.
G. M.
We love staying at this hotel! Great value for an amazing service and large very clean rooms. Breakfast in bed is well worth every penny
J. H.
Visited for a wedding 'reception/overnight stay. My experience was top notch, lovely room, excellent food and friendly staff. Can't find a fault
A. C.
Old fashioned basic hotel. Overall fine but can't compete with newer hotels. Still quite grand in parts.
Basic rooms are really small however.
s. g.
Attended a wedding beautiful venue all round
e. r.
Nicely positioned , easy to find, room clean but could do with a paint esp. Bathroom. Also no blind in bathroom - although frosted window still a bit unnerving
j. s.
Nice and clean hotel, friendly and professional staff. The suite room was worth it but the shower head was broken
A. K.
Closed to New Street station and pedestrian zone. Very small room, bad price-value rate. 18 GBP for not too big breakfast. Nice staff
S. F.
Lovely old railway hotel. Breakfast a little disappointing but otherwise fine. Staff great - smiling and friendly
P. B. (.
Attended a conference here.
Exceptionally friendly staff.
Super convenient location.
Lovely food served up from the kitchen.
R. B.
Had a great Xmas party here. The food was nice and still hot even though there was 200 people there. Drinks were expensive but middle of town so expected it.
J. M.
Ideal hotel for New Street station. The bar area is reasonably quiet and is good for short business meetings. Full bar menu available.
R. L.
Very nice hotel very close to the centre of Birmingham our room the Percy Gravatt suite was a nice size and well appointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
B. G.
Breakfast was just okay. Room was ready early. Room and hotel was clean with well stocked hotel bar and easy access to shops and restaurants.
M. J.
Only attended an event here with work, however, was very looked after by the staff and the food/buffet that was served was scrumptious. I consumed 5 deserts due to how fantabidosey the taste was.
D. M.
It's a lovely hotel lunch was ok and facilities are good, the layout is quite challenging with a trek to the toilets but overall a nice place.
A. C.
Great location a couple of minutes walk from New Street station and close to the bull ring shopping centre. The staff were friendly and the room spacious and comfortable.
C. N.
A lovely hotel. Only negative was the service at breakfast, we were kept waiting for a long time before we could order coffee and then our food
U. K.
Good meeting rooms and training venue. Helpful and polite staff. Excellent lunch served and nice cakes and coffee.
M. A.
Really nice hotel with good location breakfast was a bit hectic as restraunt seemed small for the number of guests but the breakfast was quite nice
E. H.
Stayed there last year, excellent location, very spacious rooms and excellent breakfast👍
M. L.
Attended Professional Forum event, room was ideal, great sound and acoustics. Heating spot on. Lunch and coffee/tea facilities 10/10.
S. B.
The Hotel is in the ideal place.one. walking distant to every where. carn't fault are stay.clean Staff lovely we definitely stay there again
A. A.
Lovely hotel and staff done the room up nice for my wedding couldn't have asked for better treatment thank you
a. h.
I have visited this hotel several times over the past few months and I have found the customer experience to be consistently good as a resident and delegate.
g. m.
The food in the steak bar was fantastic a great suprise as I eat in lots of hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bar under the hotel was a complete surprise definitely worth a visit.
R. J.
Excellent hotel great customer service. Good breakfast and clean rooms. Ideally located opposite train station.
K. B.
Very pleasant stay, great location in the city centre & opposite new street station. Nice interior decor too.
L. Q.
Limited car park facility available at hotel, required to use a nearby multi-story - but is located 2 min walk from train station. Good City Centre location.
a.
Rooms very beutifull however drink prices were very over priced, you don't want to stay here if on a budget
D. C.
My room was a bit dated but refurb going on at moment. Staff very helpful and breakfast top notch, cooked to order.
H. H.
Beautiful old hotel, excellent location for Birmingham centre. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
A. A.
Super staff and excellent hotel. Problem with first room was dealt with professionally and courteously by Emma from Housekeeping. Recommended!
K.
I'm having my wedding here and so far the conference coordinators have been very helpful and have great service. I'll keep you updated on what their service is like on the big day!
J. B.
Amazing, some of the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing and the room we had was awesome
A. R.
Good location, clean spacious rooms. Only criticism is that several of our rooms were not ready when we arrived
A. W.
Great atmosphere in a unique setting. The food and drinks arrived promptly. Staff were friendly. Would definitely come back.
S. C.
Here for a business training day. Hotel very nice, lots of period features and very clean. Food was nice, staff polite.
G. U.
Lovely front desk staff, comfortable room with a big bathroom, great location, enjoyed the breakfast.
p. l.
Great location, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, Rita on reception in particular was friendly, welcoming and did everything to enhance our stay.
G. B.
Spent the day in the conference room. Very good facilities - clean and well presented. Very good lunch provided on time.
S. B.
Lovely hotel, lovely food. Very short walk from the train station to the hotel. Staff were really friendly
R. S.
Very formal hotel in the city centre. Clean rooms, friendly staff at check in and the bar. Great location opposite train station.
J. B.
Good hotel but dropped a star as I thought it was a McDonald's branded hotel. Was excited about opening the mini bar and finding a McFlurry but I was mistaken. My bad.
K. 1.
Attended a conference, easy accessible to all transport to and from the city. Friendly staff and lots of amenities, easy accees to shops, overall a great place to be.
T. M.
The hotel is in a central place right next to Birmingham New Street train station and a team service. The room I had was very large. There was a slight mix up with a package I had delivered for my arrival (they couldn't find it) but the ***agement team work hard to replace the item for me.
S.
Despite reading some of the poor reviews I'm glad not to have given them any credibility. The reception was excellent. The room equally so.
N. D.
Nice conference venue, well catered and facilities. Some of the smaller rooms were a bit cramped for the meeting setup.
A. A.
Great customer service and comfortable clean room. Only complaint if you can call it that is some of the rooms are very dated compared to others.
D. S.
Fantastic hotel in the city centre. Nice, comfortable rooms with lovely ensuite bathrooms.
G. S.
Over looking the air con ducting, opaque glass bathroom door lacks privacy, poor for a deluxe room. And staff seem to think they're doing you a favour
A. D.
There for a conference. Very close to New Street Station. Room clean and environment comfortable. Buffet lunch lovely and coffee good too.
A. C.
Big hotel, some nice areas but definitely in need of some refurbishment. Some rooms will suffer from noise from the street outside when the pubs are out
O.
Came here for a conference. I was pleased at first because it’s nicer looking than the places we usually go, but then it was time for lunch. Terrible.
S. O.
Very good rooms for presenting course and meetings. Good choice of food and friendly staff and good service.
R. v. B.
Annoyed at online listing of parking. Public car parks are used, and possibly fixed cost refunded. I couldn't use any as driving a transit van. Perhaps clarification would be helpful.

Great night at the Burlington hotel, very good food, drinks were a little pricey but not too bad , staff could have been a little friendlier but we were a very large party and they kept on top of the very large number of orders so kudos to them for keeping everything running well
