I stayed at YHA as part of a college residential, and it was an excellent experience. Our room was large and comfortable, with a beautiful bay window. The atmosphere was lovely, and you really wouldn't guess that it was a hostel! I certainly plan on staying at the hostel again if I ever return to Brighton. Would reccommend!

We have stayed here the last 3 years, and have always been very happy. Unfortunately this time things were different. Trying to get service at the bar was a mission sometimes waiting for up to 10 minutes for someone to show their face. Then when I did order drinks or food they looked at me like I was putting them out. The heating wasn't working properly either, but electric heaters were provided. As usual it was incredibly noisy, due to the coach park being right below our window. We did have a TV, but unfortunately would not turn on. To improve I would recommend tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, and either a permanent member of staff Manning the bar or a bell. We paid 390.00 for 3 nights, which I do think is expensive for the lack of facilities in the rooms. Apart from the noisy coaches and drunks ( which I understand is not the hotels fault) the location is fantastic. Unfortunately we will be trying somewhere new in June, the welcoming, friendly and chilled environment of the past visits has disappeared, which is a shame.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. I stayed in an all female dorm, sharing the space with about 5 other women. The room was clean and spacious, and had it's own bathroom for us to use. It had a good menu on the main floor for meals and drinks. I felt very safe while staying here. It's also very close to the Brighton Palace Pier, The Lanes, and other attractions in the area.

The lift was not working for 1 week and a half. The room was very big unfortunately it was the handicapped friendly room so the sink was very low and hard to reach for a person without handicaps. Overall not very friendly staff, they always seemed annoyed by our requests. We also felt a bit mocked because we had lots of luggage, since we were looking for a house, and I know it’s uncommon for hostels to see people with lots of luggage. I have been to many hostels in my life all over the world and I can say that the bed sheets, the pillows and the room overall was not very clean. We had hair, pee stains and other nasty stuff. For what we paid I didn’t expect too much but at least it was much better than other places I have been.

Good price, great location and clean but the room I stayed in could do with redecorating. None of the decorations seemed to match and it was a bit shabby. Which is a shame because it's in a beautiful old building and could be so much nicer. They also had a map and directions for a street art walking tour which was great!

12 of us went to Brighton for a stag do and this was by far the cheapest accommodation that was half decent and we were all pleasantly surprised how good it was. Nice clean and presentable rooms, got a private en suite for each room. Had bunk beds that were nice and comfortable. Bar downstairs where we could all hang out and have a beer before going out. Would definitely recommend to any groups.

Location is great, and they have restaurant and bar in premises. Staffs are very efficient and everything is clean. As it is a hostel, though we had our own private room, it happened that a group of school kids from ireland was there at that time, it can be a bit noisy, but probably if its just individual traveller and not group, it wont be the case

For the price payed, location and service I don't think you could really ask for better to be honest. Really enjoyed my stay even though I was bunking with 5 other men. Place is very clean, lots of help and advise from staff on hand if needed and information on attractions available throughout hostel via leaflets. The hostel is close to main attractions, restaurants, the train station and local high street shops.

I got the private double room, on suite is nice just floor tiles are extremely slippery!!! The bed is a metal frame with thin plastic mattress. For the price I paid I should of gone to a hotel as same price BUT as a hostel, fantastic location!!!!! And great layout with nighttime security. Really nice place. Need more cheerful staff :-)

Got a private double room, had an ensuite with bath, a TV, a wardrobe and a comfy bed. Also had a sea view which is pretty cool for the price. Was a nice room, although the heating was broken in the room, and the cheap oil radiator that replaced it did not really work. Only real issue was after paying for late checkout, they killed my key card twice, and the second time the dude on reception was kinda abrupt and uninterested.

Perfect for what I needed. I was in a shared room, which was clean, had secure storage (is you brought a padlock), and a separate bathroom just for the dorm. I had used the luggage storage room during the day which was very helpful, and easy to use. They gave you a separate key card and door code for that as my room wasn't yet ready (I arrived well before check in). It was really warm when I went, so the staff had placed a fan in the room which helped with the heat. Communal areas near the entrance was well kept and cafe was reasonable priced.

Brilliant hostel! Clean spacious rooms and toilets, nice chill area in the lobby, perfect location and friendly receptionist. Food is served 24hrs so great for getting some post night out carbs, only downside was the terrible pizza we had which was flavourless and chewy.

It's a really nice hostel with great rooms and bathrooms. The common area is quite nice and everything is really clean. Some members of the staff are really kind and some other not the much. You have to pay for breakfast, for storage room... I can say I had a nice stay there. Oh! And can forget to talk about the location: amazing!

Great location and bed were comfortable. Plug sockets and lights lights by each bed. Breakfast was also very good, only about £6 for a fry up. Staff were all friendly. Possibly the nicest hotel I've stayed in actually! Probably helped that the 5 person room I was in was all my friends too :)

Great Hotel. Really nice rooms and is in the perfect place for tourists. The pear is only a 5 min walk away! We stayed for 1 night for a fairly cheap price. Staff was also very helpful and welcoming. Will definitely be back in the future!

All in all, pretty good. we arrived on a Friday to leavening a Saturday. Beds were reasonably comfortable and other than the location with the busses parked right outside our 1st floor window it was a decent few nights sleep. It was a four person room with 2 bunk beds. Unfortunately the lights and sockets in my bunk did not work which was a large inconvenience as the nearest socket (which wobbled as I put things in and pulled things out) was about 2 meters away. The room was - all in all - decent. The heater provided did good to battle the chilling single pane windows and the view was fantastic, I was visiting a room on the third floor looking out to the sea and you could see miles and the pier added a great attraction to the room view. In top of that, parking is about a 2 minute walk (lanes car park) but it is £25 for the weekend. Edit: clarifying - in a room on the third floor -> visiting a room on the third floor

Lovely room, staff helpful and friendly. Right near everything.A few niggles that could be rectified really easily. If they invested in a steamer grout on tiles and carpets could be deep cleaned without a load of chemicals. Some items weren't there for breakfast and had to ask for them but dealt with straight away. Definitely would use again or recommend.

Price is good, location is good, staff are friendly. Needs double glazing, located right outside a noisy nightclub which stayed noisy til about 5am, also you can hear footsteps the floor above. Got about 2 hours sleep, check out could do with being later too since it's so noisy, then maybe I couldve slept an extra hour. It was nice until I needed to sleep!

I book a lat minute room on a weekend! I've got an amazing room with 2 single bed! Got lucky for having this last available room on my own! Clean, smell nice and comfortable. The only downside was that on the night I was in, there are families on same floor as mine and their kids are running on the corridors early morning! I was woken up by the noise.

Booked a single room, which was clean, in good order and had an en-suite. The room was far too warm, without any temperature control, meaning the window had to be open all night, which let in all the noise of seagulls and drunk screeching. However, it was only £40 so pretty decent.

Very clean! Beds come premade which is a big plus. Linen also seemed to be fresh and each bunk came with a modern style nightlight. Staff were also very helpful and there are drinks and snacks available via vending machine as well as a kitchen that serves food. The hostel is in the city centre which boasts a massive selection of high street brands and local shops and restaurants and the pier is also about a 5 minute walk away. Great experience for the price!

I love the especially great features of this hotel for reasonable price. The most feeling "at home" in the self preparing kitchen. Also I love that the bar is 24 hours open for the case if you would runned out of your drink stock during the night, as there's no fridge in the rooms. The soya hot chocolate for example wonderful there. The staff is first and foremost lovely, their most features are vocation and helpfulness. The rooms are more than simply beautiful. Only one disadvantage to mention sometimes if you arrive back in the room in the latest hours you need for a while to getting hot water.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, lockers available. You will need to bring your own towels and toiletries but bedding is there. It's placed in a very convenient location and it's at the heart of Brighton, for this price I can't complain!

The hotel exceeded my expectations! Great location (located on a kilometer of everything worth seeing and 300 meters from the beach and Brighton Pier). All the staff were kind and helpful, the room was clean and had everything (including many charging contacts), the wifi connection was fairly good. There was no view, but 150 meters behind the hotel was the beach itself, so there was no need to stay in the room very much. The safe in the wardrobe does not work, so do not put anything inside. In the lobby bar, besides food, you will also find interesting local beers. Next year I'm expected to go back to Brighton again and I'll be glad if I can get my room again!

Beautiful experience at the YHA in Brighton.. felt welcome and everything that was needed was given in due time... we were on the 3rd floor so had to climb up the stairs as when we arrived the lift wasn’t working... great work out of your into that sort of thing 😂. But other than that had a great time out with the mrs everything is fairly close and no hassle.

Beautiful, comfortable, clean and receptionist are very kind. This Hostel is almost on the beach front, also bus station (behind) and is surrounded by shops and restaurants. Rooms are simply furnished and some have a shared bathroom and others private bathroom. There is a breakfast buffet (not included). There is also a snack bar and vending machines for treats and drinks. Brighton Pier can be reached in 30 minutes’ walk. The other side of the Pier you have the i360 (reservations online).

Fabulous. Very nice staff and surroundings. Poor for parking (especially if you have a large van like me) but that is not YHA's fault. Very close to coach station and a large multi storey car park. As I discovered too there is a rich selection of small but unique eateries in The Lanes about 10 mins walk from the hostel....just dont get lost in there 😄😄😄😄Would happily stay again.

Amazing cheap and feel free time with friends. But poorly service for ask detail of person and won't let me sign in about who is friends that I with, I have stay in bar room to wait and do nothing till 2 hours and sort it to book room. Great location near to pier, town centre and shops. Only a few minutes from station. Hostel personal was really nice and a kitchen was well-appointed. But in our room we expected a towels and some little showergels and shampoos but its weren’t there. But in generaly We enjoyed our staying. Thank you ♥️

Our first visit to Brighton and the YHA was in the perfect spot. Right opposite the pier. The room was perfect for the three of us, bunk beds with double at the bottom and single at the top. The bathroom was a good size too. Very clean everywhere and service was great. Had a beer in the bar area too. The room was quite hot so we opened the window and it was a bit noisy but that's the problem with being in the centre of a city. Can't have everything.

I had beautiful big room wit view on beach, shower and toilet in side of room. Lift and Hostel was really near beach, coach bus you see from window. 24 hours reception and receptionist on service 100 percent.

All right experience with some issues. Rooms are clean and the entire building has a historic touch. High Security standard due to many cardreaders and gates. Staff at the reception desk could have been more cooperative and friendly. We were unable to to control the temperature of the shower and the wifi is too slow.

Highly recommended! We stayed in a double room on 3rd floor (#313) for 2 nights in January. Pros: great location (close to the pier, coach station and royal pavillion). Spotlessly clean. Large room with king-sized bed. Free city map at reception. Cons: no shampoo, shower gel and hairdryer. Some traffic and street noises could be heard (but not a big deal) Tips: budget luggage storage for rent at £3 per 4 hrs or £6 per day (rate depends on the size and duration).

Very nice rooms- they have been done to a high standard and the location is great. However, there is a lot of noise from the surrounding are it being where it is, this wasnt hugely unexpected!

Amazing location, decent pricing, pretty clean. We encountered some pretty unfriendly staff which put a pretty bitter taste in my mouth. We booked a private room with a larger bed but we got a room with two single beds.

Would definitely come back, great value for money. Paid 40£ for a double bed room with ocean view, TV and bathtub. Interior isn't the most modern one, but everything is clean and neat.

Great location, within a couple of minutes from the sea front and about 15 minutes from the train station. The double bed was a large double bed in a decent size room with an ensuite bathroom. WiFi worked well once signed in through the cloud. On the downside, the walls and windows are paper thin when it comes to noise. Although we had a sea view, it came at a cost. The courtyard, surrounded by buildings on three sides amplifies any noises, which in peak season includes a lot of drunkards at all times of the night (I think I heard the last stragglers at 5am-6am). The breakfast was good on the taste side but basic on the selection. We were also able to leave our bag in a locked room after checkout. I would happily stay at the YHA Brighton again, but would probably get breakfast elsewhere and might even be tempted to take some earplugs.

What a wonderful hostel to stay in Brighton! Happily affordable, a huge bed, sea views, excellent English/Continental breakfast (buffet), lovely interior design and very helpful staff. Town is within walking distance. The Pier is a 2-minute walk. The Royal Pavilion & The Dome are a 5-minute walk. Will certainly be my choice of stay whenever I come back to Brighton!

As hostels go, this is among the best I've stayed in. Even by YHA's higher than normal standards, this is a great place to stay. Friendly staff, clean facilities, spacious rooms, good food and drink and a decent kitchen for self catering on a budget. It's also right by the beach and a very short walk from the best shops and bars. We were very happy.

Great place to stay when in Brighton. We had a room that by English standards was big, as was the bathroom. There was also a slow WiFi connection. The room was quite poorly isolated, we could hear people in other rooms. We had a lovely ocen view, the staff was nice and the rooms clean. I'm satisfied and would definately stay there again!

A trusty warm spot for Brighton, freindly staff, very nice seating! Laté with soya was ok but lacking in flavor. Coffee n cake deal £3.50 buy 5 coffees get one free. Walnut Cake thin slice £2.95 bit steep, only Soya no Oatmilk. Open till 7pm for public and 24hrs for people staying. Wifi but have to sign up, its free. Wines Spirits Beers available but hotel prices. Says Food Available 24hours. Youth Hostel Association.

Excellent location and very clean. Good prices for alcohol and breakfast. Unbelievably secure. Has ensuite bathrooms. Overall great value for money. Will be coming back.

SHOCKED by the high quality of this hostel in such a central area of Brighton. Hired 2 rooms for a stag do cause it was easier then waiting for a 5am train. Highly recommend

Located in the heart of Brighton, the best hostel in Brighton.& The country. Safe. Pretty clean, put together. It was definitely worth the stay! I stayed for a good while. I honestly just wanted to take the time to talk about each and every person I came across at the hostel as an appreciation... Peter, you are a Rock star!, Very professional he goes above and beyond every single time. Your work ethics are impeccable! Great sense of Humor! I would always leave the reception with a smile or a laugh from you! And if there was a slight concern/problem it was nicely solved by him! Lee: You are a Magnificent Human Being. This place is very nice and in a great location but DO NOT stay here if you are hoping to sleep. The room that I was in was facing the street and the window was broken so it did not close all the way. It was SO loud all night. I got no sleep all night because of this.

Newly renovated old victorian style hotel and perfect location. Very helpful and frendly staff. We (55m/53f) stayed tree nights (Ensuite Double Private Room). Accommodation in front of the park and very close and the sea and the coach station. Most attractions in a very short distance. Not first class standard but clean room with good facilities. Furnishing practical. The English Breakfast was ok an rich. No restaurant but a bar with snacks and sandwiches. For younger crowd and nights might not be quiet in the sommertime.

we went to brighton yha with a person in an electric wheelchair, with hoist, manual chair, shower seat, etc etc. we were given a large room with plenty of space for equipment, near the lift, with a double bed as well as singles, and a large accessible wet room. It couldn't have been better - everyone was friendly and helpful, the cafe and the breakfasts meant we didn't need to cook, although we had intended to, and the ONLY drawback was that there were no disabled bays anywhere in the vicinity to park, so we got a ticket. but overall, thank you, yha, for making it possible for us to have a cheap holiday with someone in a wheelchair!

I know it's a hostel but would of thought it would have a communal TV just to keep up with the news and weather etc. Staff were outstanding one particular staff member called Lee couldn't of asked for more very attentive and went above and beyond the call of duty and went out their way to help in any situation. Room we stayed in was very basic, only containing 2 bunk beds, a small stand for clothes, private toilet and shower, but absolutely perfect for what we needed. Price was nice and cheap and location, 2mins walk from the sea front and Brighton pier. Overall a very pleasant stay would stay here again

(Translated) I stayed at the YHA Hostel in Brighton, Old Steine twice in 2020, in spring and autumn. The house is well equipped and safe. The first check-in was a bit bumpy, because as a disabled person I had made sure that there was an elevator in the house when I booked, unfortunately it didn't work. But the receptionist carried my suitcase to the first floor. Between each stairwell, even on the intermediate corridors, you can only get in with your chip card! I think that's very good and safe 👍 That way nobody can get in without authorization. The rooms are cozy and the beds are clean and comfortable. From the entrance area you come to the breakfast room (breakfast can be booked additionally) to the chill area and the restaurant/bar/cafe. I often ate here in the evening or drank tea in the afternoon. From there you get to the kitchen, where you can prepare food you have bought yourself. Unfortunately, the stove was also broken at the time 😏. You can sit comfortably in the gastro area, there is free WiFi and chilled background music. The hostel is right next to the bus station, from here you can take a bus directly to Stansted and Heathrow airports and also to the train station (Central Station). Just a few steps away from the YHA Hostel, you come to Brighton Beach with the famous pier, where you can enjoy delicious Fish'n Chips and many attractions. I will definitely be booking into the YHA again on my next visit to Brighton (which will be the 5th😉). 👍 (Original) Im YHA Hostel in Brighton, Old Steine war ich 2020 zweimal, im Frühjahr und im Herbst. Das Haus ist gut und sicher ausgestattet. Der 1. Check-in war ein bisschen holprig, da ich als Gehbehinderte bei Buchung extra darauf geachtet hatte, dass ein Aufzug im Haus ist, leider hat dieser nicht funktioniert. Dafür hat mir die Rezeptionistin den Koffer in die 1. Etage getragen. Zwischen jedem Treppenhaus, auch auf den Zwischengängen kommt man nur mit seiner Chipkarte rein!! Das finde ich sehr gut und sicher 👍 So kann niemand unbefugtes herein. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und die Betten sauber und bequem. Vom Eingangsbereich kommt man in den Frühstücksraum, ( Frühstück kann hinzu gebucht werden) in den Chillbereich und ins Restaurant/ Bar/ Cafe. Abends habe ich hier oft gegessen, oder Nachmittags einen Tee getrunken. Von dort kommt man in die Küche, wo man selbstgekauftes Essen zubereiten kann. Leider war auch zu der Zeit der Herd defekt😏. Im Gastro-Bereich kann man gemütlich sitzen, es gibt freies WLAN und chillige Hintergrundmusik. Das Hostel liegt direkt am Busbahnhof, von hier kann man per Bus direkt zu den Flughäfen Stansted, Heathrow und auch zum Bahnhof ( Central Station) fahren. Nur ein paar Schritte vom YHA Hostel entfernt, kommt man zum Brighton Beach mit dem berühmten Pier, wo man lecker Fish'n Chips und viele Attraktionen genießen kann. Bei meinem nächsten Besuch in Brighton (dann dem 5.😉), werde ich auf jeden Fall wieder im YHA buchen. 👍
