Reviews of Best Western Garfield House Hotel
We popped in for the Sunday roast and they didn't disappoint.
The soup was seriously delicious and the roast was prefect.
There was a special 2 course menu on offer at £17 .
This was great value.
We got a lovely welcome from the staff and Josh our waiter couldn't do enough.
Thank you guys we will be back.🥂
I have just stayed here for two nights, I often visit on business but this was my first stay at this hotel. Wow what a gem, staff are very professional and friendly the food is delicious. Rooms are nice and were cleaned both days. I will be returning this will now be my go to hotel!
Very welcoming hotel, staff extremely pleasant. Easy to have our Scottie dog with us. Room comfortable and clean. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast. An ideal stopover for us. We have stayed several times and never been disappointed. Not far from the motorway
Just had a wonderful stay and it was absolutely fantastic.
We were extremely lucky to be upgraded for free to the Honeymoon suite and it
was a stunning room. Everything was simply perfect from the his and hers sinks to the double shower enclosure and the space, lighting and decor were first class. Well done to the staff as well for being so friendly and professional. There was a prom party going on and we were informed beforehand that the festivities would finish at 12pm. This in no way impacted on our stay and our room was very quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and had beautiful bedding. If I had one thing to change it would be to have stayed another night and have a hook somewhere high for a brides wedding dress. Thanks for a memorable stay. 10 stars ⭐️
I am a frequent visitor to Glasgow and only wish I had found this lovely hotel earlier. Happy, friendly and incredibly helpful staff. Great breakfast, great choice with a very comfortable clean room. The bathroom well stocked with products and if you like your showers hot and powerful, brilliant after the 7hr journey in the car. Can not rate this lovely hotel enough, situated in a quiet green area where a perfect over night stay was very much enjoyed.
Great hotel, the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. All of the rooms are of a very good standard, well equipped, clean and comfortable.
Lovely hotel very relaxing atmosphere, bit pricy £6 50 for a pint of lager,I'm glad I'm not a drinker
Friendly staff, comfy bed, big room, decent shower, lots of parking. Good food and plenty of choice. Little bit dated in the rooms, but not run down just a bit dated. Would definitely stay again.
Perfect 👌 staff very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was amazing especially the haggis! 2 eggs bacon sausage tomato potato scone toast. Definitely worth the money. Comfy beds nice room very clean. Thanks everyone.
Big carpark
Friendly check in with all info given
Room was up a flight stairs
The room itself was very spacious as was the bathroom
Bed was comfortable
WiFi excellent
Shower hot and powerful
Evening meal was excellent
A good choice menu reasonable prices
Breakfast not included but could add if wanted
Location it isn't really close to anything that i could see .
Would definitely recommend and stay again 👌
Stayed here before and had a really nice stay. On my most current visit we were kept up most of the night from noise from the room above. Even after speaking to reception about this nothing was done.
Recently had our wedding at the Garfield. Staff are first class in doing all they can to ensure that the day goes as smoothly as possible. Great food and really comfortable rooms. First class guys. Thanks 👍
When we arrived there was a wedding on which was obviously loud but when we got to our room, no noise to be heard which was grand as we'd just flown home and we were very tired. Front desk were very informative and helpful even though he was very busy with some difficult customers. Took the time to explain everything to us and get our breakfast ordered for next day. Rooms are lovely with big comfy beds and thick cosy duvets! Bathroom is great too with lovely toiletries and a great powerful shower. We booked breakfast for 10am and with it not being buffet style breakfast now it's very much more stressful and time consuming for the staff but all staff were fabulous! We were seated at 10.02 and had both our cold tray with cereals and such and our hot breakfast by 10.18, restaurant was rather busy when we in but service was great and the serving staff were very attentive and were happy to grab us more bits and bobs when we asked. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a budget friendly sleep with super friendly staff throughout. You're all doing an amazing job😁
Really enjoyed my stay here recently. The hotel itself feels well-maintained and surprisingly luxurious, considering it's a Best Western.
Breakfast is served here, and it includes a nice continental offering along with a few menu options. All the staff here were friendly and attentive
I really enjoyed my room, which was spacious and comfortable. There isn't really anything in terms of views, but the location close to Glasgow is a nice touch.
One thing to note is this venue often hosts weddings, so you may encounter a very busy entryway and lounge when arriving
Attended a works training session in one of the ground level board rooms. Good size for meeting or training days and additional area set up for food and drinks. Bacon or sausage rolls were on offer including pastries an biscuits. Air conditioning was welcomed as it was a hot day. Would definitely recommend.
Very nice hotel with plenty to offer. The parking is surrounded so quite secure even for a motorcycle. The rooms and hotel on here are modern and well balanced. The food itself was excellent apart from the breakfast which was a little over done with the bacon. The staff are more than happy to help. They were even kind enough to offer a safe place for my bike armour while I attended a meeting in the hotel after check-out.
Friendly Staff to greet you on arrival. Quick check in and up to my room. Clean ample sized and equipped room and bathroom.
Bar & Grill again friendly polite staff. Lovely cool air conditioned for the hot weather we were experiencing.
Nice fresh cooked food. Good selection of drinks to choose from.
Breakfast a warm welcome. Great service. Good food. Setup and ready to go for the day.
Stayed for business, would definitely stay again. Easy access just off the motorway etc.
Great executive room , big and modern, bathroom needs upgraded. Service was ok nothing special . Evening meal was ok restaurant had no atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent 👌
Excellent quality hotel and bar definitely the best around I'd give it 10 out of 10 staff are very friendly and can't do enough for there customers
Stayed at Garfield House for a wedding and really enjoyed our stay.
The room was a little hot but a fan was provided, cot was set up for our baby and the food was great (a few more veggie/vegan options would be nice) not overly expensive, clean and the staff couldn't have been more helpful .
Nice hotel, rooms dated, small twin beds. But clean tidy and functional.
Service great and good in restaurant very good.
On site parking.
Business trip here, although some of the furniture is a little tired, the people and the welcome couldn't have been better. The best example of great service I have experienced in a long time. Thank you.
Super hotel with excellent staff. Great food and service in the restaurant for dinner even though there was also a large party night in the function hall. Breakfast in the morning was excellent - fruits, juices, yoghurts, cereals and pastries etc available to help yourself - great choice of cooked food which was made to order and of a very high standard as was the service. We had an executive room which was very large with an extremely comfortable bed and we heard no noise from the party night which was still in full swing when we went upstairs.
Pleasant enough stay at the hotel. Comfy bed and a decent breakfast. Rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade and ours was a bit tight for space compared with comparable priced rooms. Bar prices were a bit steep too. More pricey than my London local!! Staff are the hotel's best asset. They were friendly and very helpful. Cheers!
Had a lovely lunch here. It was a Friday, late afternoon and was very quiet. A wedding was taking place there too. Our food was delicious and copious, no complaints there. Service was great too, it was only when I visited the ladies room I heard cheering and realised I could hear the wedding speeches clearly! When exiting the ladies I noticed doors directly in front of them open and the wedding happening. It felt like I had intruded on a private event. If only those doors has been closed over, I'd have given 5 stars....its all in the details!
Great location... hotel immaculate.... even had an upgrade to the Bridal Suite which was amazing. Food excellent and service impeccable. Special thanks to Ross for wonderful service and taking care of us. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly and professional team. Thank you. Jane and Andrew.
Lovely place, some restaurant staff excellent others not great..I was left for 40.mins before I attracted attention to take an order having been told.it was so busy they could.inky fit me in at 6pm. Yet didn't come near me until 6.40. They a new waitress who was great as.chef forgot my desert and that came 30.mins after the main. At least she was lovely and apologetic and gave me a free glass.of wine..
It was lovely. The room was very nice and had all the necessary amenities. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious as well as breakfast. The beat hotel I've stayed in yet. My only gripe was that I didn't have a plug socket next to my bed but I could live with it. Fantastic hotel
My parents thoroughly enjoyed their 60th Wedding Anniversary Lunch on Saturday. Thanks very much to John Kelly and his staff for excellent service and for making a special day a perfect day. The food was delicious, lovely function room and very welcoming and cosy. I would definitely recommend.
Was here for a funeral purvy. Staff were very attentive & showed great preparation as "4 extra tables had to be set for extra people returning for the purvy".
Table settings were quickly set & serving of food was imminent. Well done Team Garfield 👏👏👏👏
Great staff at this hotel. Went north of the border for first time, was with work, but nevertheless I needed a place to stay. It was at hour drive up and with COVID etc going on, they closed their restaurant at 8:30pm. I rang up and asked if it was possible to get a sandwich made up and put by for me. I got there and had a great sevice by the night porter with my sandwich and 2 packs of crisps.
Doesn't sound a lot, but really made me smile and was exactly what I wanted and needed after such a long drive.
5 stars, breakfast was ok too. If I was in the area with work, would definitely book here again even if it meant an extra 20 min drive.
Had to move rooms as there was a large refrigerator unit outside the window (room28) dont go there but move was done swiftly and next room was great. Staff on the whole friendly stayed 2 nights with breakfast 2nd chef was having a bad day hey ho covid has definitely made a difference as we have stayed in this hotel numerous times before and it has always been fab. Breakfast chef needs sorting.
It was better the last visit but still was good.
The restaurant staff in evening was not as nice!
Food good though! Breakfast amazing
Well done under the covid circumstance and will stop at various best western when I can.
Thanks Alex.
A cosy, comfortable and welcoming environment. Loved the oldie worldie style, classy and tasteful. The food was delicious 😋
Fantastic cosy hotel, great decor. Myself and my partner arrived very late but it was no problem to the staff. Top service. Great food great feel, we will return when in Glasgow. Fantastic value
Very handy location just off the motorway, lots of parking. Went here for a conference and tea/coffee/lunch was great. Good big space.
Hotel looks nice from outside, and inside is quite nice, it’s only taking a good close look you can see the age related wear and tear if it, so most wont notice.
Plenty of parking spaces the whole time I was there.
Checked in by very friendly gentlemen, room ok, smelled a little damp, even the cleaners shut the door to try to keep it in the bathroom, but I brought air freshener.
I think I was next to an office or something as there was a lot of banging around very early most mornings, I’m an early riser, usually 5am ish but this was waking even me up.....??
Food overall good, not too expensive, we could tell there was a good and a not so good cook/chèf that worked there as we would have either a good breakfast (gauged by the poached eggs:) OR a good dinner, (never both) although nobody knew how to do very well done & crispy bacon.
Also they used to do an early bird special with the menu, this has now ceased.
Alcoholic drink is expensive, wether that is because of the Scottish laws now or just because they charge a lot, who knows.
VERY busy with seminars and weddings & funerals, to the point where regular guests weren’t allowed into the dining area one afternoon.
Ok overall, about the same money as a Premier Inn, but better than most of those I have stopped in (which we usually use).
Attended for a joint 90th birthday party! Room was great, staff very attentive and helpful. Service of food great although the food was not of greatest standard, I had the chicken was somewhat dry and tough
We were in a suite and it was amazing!!! Absolute luxury. Food and service were great, good choice of dinner menu and a lovely breakfast.
We booked my father in laws 80th birthday dinner in the restaurant and can't fault it. The restaurant manager - Conor - was very helpful in planning this , the food was superb and the waitresses- Sarah, Lisa,Carol and Charlotte were very attentive and helped make the day a memorable one.
Good for small business meetings (held within reception area). Polite staff and good coffee. Only negative was small coffee cups compared to previous visits. Nice coffee though.
Great place to meet a colleague for an ad hoc meeting. The service of coffee in the lounge is great and the short bread that comes with it is good too. Always a good lunch to be had in the bar for a very reasonable price. Use the quite often to meet people and have used the meeting rooms on many occassions
Although a little far out it is still very easy to get to, the staff were very friendly and helpful and we all had a great night. We didn't use the rooms but have heard good things from friends who have stayed before.
The room was modern, clean and comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was not cheap but the food was fantastic. Would definitely return.
The hotel was warm, welcoming, clean and very comfortable. The staff were so helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our big family get together.
Just Had My Mums 80th Birthday on 25th March in the Campsie Suite.
I Must Say that She and All the Guests Had a Great Time.
The Food was top Class and all the Guests Loved it.
John and His Staff done Fantastic to Give My Mum a Rememerble
Birthday Party. John was very attentive and very Friendly .
Great Place for Any Function . Thank You Garfield House Hotel.
Here for a funeral.. Nice place
Big rooms, spacious... Food is great. Only give 1 less star as bar guy moaned that I didnt have a mask walking to table 🤷♂️ Apart from that is nice hotel, great location to work for me.
Booked the Garfield for a funeral. The customer service was second to none. The whole family where greated warmly and sensitively. Food was great and staff did an amazing job. Thank you
Used as a stopover en route to Glasgow airport. More reasonably priced than those closer but easy access to the motorway and reached the car park within 30 mins (leaving at 9am)
The staff at this hotel are marvelous. Nothing is too much trouble. Could improve on room preparation. No room service due to pandemic but not a problem.
Outside Glasgow but not so far from the city centre. Very profesional and lovely Staff . Rooms are bright and comfortable. Bad is just amazing like the view from the windows.
Was here for a wedding. The venue is air conditioned, clean and plenty free parking. A pint of Moretti was £5.75!
Staff really excellent just a slight issue with someones dirty towels left in my room when I arrived. The food was excellent including a great breakfast.
Stayed here one night, very professional and fast check in and very clean rooms. The hotel itself is in very good condition, everything seems very take care of and very clean, very good service, would highly recommend it.
Spent the weekend there to celebrate daughter's wedding
Couldn't fault the place.
Management and staff were absolutely fantastic, couldn't do enough for us
Usually have a pleasant enough experience here but the price of drinks always lets it down for me.
It’s always expensive for drinks. No need for it.
It’s like city centre hotel prices.
Only been in twice. First was for a wedding. One of the best I've been to. Second was for a funeral. Both times there was excellent service from staff.
Had our wedding here was absolutely amazing service was 1st class. Everything from the rooms to food and finally the staff was spectacular.
Comfy beds, good food, great staff
Excellent venue for a wedding. Good meal and excellent service. Recommend for anyone thinking of having a wedding, go there.
Stayed over for one night. Comfortable room and friendly staff. Food was ok
Excellent service. Fabulous food. All very nice indeed and certainly value for money.
A superb hotel. Our wee dog was treated like a VIP.
Will definately be coming back again.
Lovely family celebration. Great food, great service friendly staff as always. Highly recommend.
Met up with two friends for a coffee ☕ & a nice wee mince pie. Usual friendly /jolly staff 😁
Would definitely recommend.
Great hotel, great food, friendly staff always, comfy bed and spacious bedroom will definitely be back
Excellent stay last night. Staff are a great credit to the business in these difficult times.
Fairly decent room. Breakfast was extremely slow to arrive. But good when it eventually did.
I was at a funeral tea. Staff very kind and helpful. Meal was lovely.
Excellent hotel with welcoming staff and a very fine restaurant and bar.
I love staying here. The staff are the best, friendly, helpful, and always with a warm welcome
Great customer service & also great food ,rooms was spotless .would highly recommend 👌
Fantastic venue loved every minute and very helpful staff
Great hotel ,nice and helpful staff
a typical Best Western. We know the hotel chain from America and they all look the same.
The service and location was perfect for us. Modernization wouldn't hurt the BW chains either. The dark and massive furniture is no longer contemporary.
Nevertheless, we felt very comfortable, it was quiet and the service and staff were friendly and attentive.
We used free parking and the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Price/performance was right for us.
We would come by again.
The reception was friendly, but it was very busy because a wedding was taking place there. Our room was okay; there was trash behind one of the bedside tables and the shower head was moldy. The rest of the room, including the bed, was clean. Unfortunately, we had a small window and no view at all (just the roof).
Very nice quiet hotel.
Room well equipped and bathroom quite large.
Breakfast sufficient.
Staff very friendly and attentive throughout.
The location is not excellent as it is a little outside Glasgow but it is a truly delightful and elegant hotel. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are finely furnished and welcoming, all in a quiet and green setting.|I had read a notice in the booking which informed of the possibility of parties and therefore possible disturbances to the tranquility of the guests; we stayed one night in which there were two parties, but we did not have any kind of disturbance.|In conclusion therefore, recommended!
Since I arrived late at night and was planning to travel by rental car, I chose this hotel because I was looking for a hotel that was not far from Edinburgh Airport, had free parking, and had a restaurant and bar. ||The address is Cumbernauld Road, but the entrance is actually on a side street, and the sign is dim, so I panicked because it was pitch black and I couldn't find it in the pouring rain (the address doesn't have a street number, so you can't find it with a navigation system. I recommend checking a map in advance...). ||However, after arriving, the female staff at the front desk and the man who seemed to be the manager were very friendly and I had a comfortable stay. When I emailed them in advance to inquire about the restaurant's opening hours, they replied promptly and cordially, and when I checked out, they asked me about my plans after that and recommended restaurants to me, showing their high level of hospitality. Also, we rented out a corner of the restaurant for a birthday party that day, and they repeatedly asked me if the room was too noisy and that they would stop the music at midnight (in reality, the sound didn't echo much in the room). ||The restaurant is open until 10pm and the bar is open until midnight. The restaurant was in the middle of cleaning up, so we were seated just before the last order, so it was a little uncomfortable (lol), but the food was delicious and I was satisfied. ||The room, bathroom, and bathtub were all spacious, with a simple and chic interior, and it was bright and clean. The twin beds may be a little narrow for men, but I slept soundly. ||It's far from the center of Glasgow, so it may not be in a good location for sightseeing, but it was a very satisfying hotel with reasonable prices and friendly service.
Located 20 minutes from Glasgow, Garfield House has a warm, quiet atmosphere. We stayed there for one night but it is definitely preferable to the expensive hotels in the city. The room is not very big but comfortable and clean. | I recommend eating in the attached restaurant which offers dishes based mainly on excellent meat.
It may start off impersonally via a central reservation service, but the service is impeccable! The rooms were perfect and despite the proximity to a large city and busy road, still quietly located. The service at the table was very smooth. There is also ample parking in front of the hotel.
Located close to the gateway to Edinburgh, this hotel offers comfortable accommodation and attentive, courteous service. The common areas are pleasant and the restaurant options cater to travelers' needs. I would definitely stay there again.
Hotel of its category with spacious room (paid £52 per night) and English style breakfast, the bar is nice and open until 10 p.m. and the one in the lounge takes over for the rest of the night.||Friendly, pleasant and smiling staff.
Really nice hotel.||The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy even above average.||The price is also great. You have to consider that it is outside the city center and a taxi costs about £10-12 but if you can't find any affordable hotels (like I did) this is a great option.
During our night at the hotel there was a birthday party and we really had the impression that the DJ was in our room, the soundproofing is really poor or our room was too badly located in relation to the reception room ||Too bad because the room is very decent and the breakfast pleasant
Nice hotel with very good breakfast and dinner.
