Reviews of Aloft London Excel
We stayed here for a friends wedding which was close by. The customer service we experienced was the best I have ever had in a hotel. From reception to the waiting staff, they were perfect. They went above and beyond to make our stay lovely. For example offering water to our heavily pregnant friend, helping us to book taxis', checking food was ok at breakfast and bringing extra drinks. The rooms were lovely, clean and modern. Would definitely recommend.
Modern hotel with contemporary styling. Spacious rooms, with an excellent shower (a rarity in new hotels). Has a decent fitness room with cardio machines and dumbbells and enough space to use them. Small pool, but better than nothing. …
Having stayed at this hotel many times over the last several years I have seen it evolve and have some good and bad moments! …
Great Vibe, Modern hotel with swimming pool, gym steam and sunna.
The location is very accessible, it's about a 100m walk from the nearest tube line. It's near London City Airport but during my 3 night stay I barely noticed the planes. Getting into central London is easy, and can be done with with only one change. There is a gym and pool, both are clean, tidy and well maintained. The staff members I have talked to have all been very polite and welcoming. I've not tried the food yet, but the restaurant does look good! My room was very spacious, clean, and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and there was ample desk space for working, along with a fridge to keep my drinks cool. Can't fault the place at all!
A good hotel in a remote location. Very good staff but a poor restaurant. Worst mobile connection ever in modern time, 4g one bar at most. Nice large room. Quiet location very far away but fairly reachable by train. Had an ok stay overall but stay away from the restaurant. Eventuell the brekfast was under stndard. The hot dishes was cooked in an owen on low temperature or something. Looked and tasted like microwaved.
I absolutely love this contemporary hotel. I absolutely loved the breakfast and friendly and fell full staff. The hotel a bit far from the city but I stayed there attending World Travel Market London in Excel London so it was super easy just 20 meters walk from door to door. I even need the coat check I never took my coat with me. And it was great because they have huge queues by evenings to the cloakroom at the Excel London.
Room was nice but the thermostat was not working. The alcohol wipes in the room was a good touch.
The Aloft Excel is a very good hotel and as a frequent guest the recognition of this is also very good in terms of upgrades. Overall the property is excellent with spacious rooms and great staff. Checkin was friendly and efficient and …
Nice clean rooms. Loved the king sized bed. Service was very good but rooms were a little late. Had to call front desk because the safe's battery was low and they were very quick to come and fix it. Downstairs we had a drink and played a game of pool while waiting for our room. They need to have a proper set of balls and cues. We didn't have a 8ball or cue ball and one of the cues we're missing the nib at the end.
I stayed at this property a couple of times in December and while the room I was happy with there were problems with the facilities / communication while I was there.
The rooms seem well laid out, comfortable bed, good showers and quiet and easy to black out for a good nights sleep.
The main issue I had was with things on the website not matching what was offered. The site said the shuttle went both ways from Canary Wharf to the hotel, but actually its one way depending on morning or evening. When I arrived and pointed out the website said this I was informed this was not the case and I had to find my own way to where I needed to be! Not a huge issue as it has a good DLR connection but not what I expected and thus I was late.
Another time the bar was closed for a private function but no announcement, it was purely by chance I found this out.
I have also had issues with keys not working for a late checkout despite being assured it will, not a big problem unless there is an event on at the eXcel and thus takes 30 mins to queue at reception.
What I will say is that on each occasion after a conversation with the duty manager they were very apologetic and did offer things as a form of apology so while there is work to be done they do admit when they get it wrong and do what they can, which is more than can be said for some hotels!
Overall a nice hotel with good rooms but currently with service levels that leave you unsure. the staff seem nice and genuine but just not very proactive. Happily stay again although not so sure I could suggest it to some friends and collegues as service levels would be a worry.
Another plus is the Fede restuarant is very good, breakfast is great (full english for Plats) also evening meals are well cooked.
First time I have stayed there. Not enough staff for the bar on a night after a trade show. It's amazing to me that some poor guy by himslef is trying to serve 30 people. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Perfectly adequate for a show. Didnt use any other amenities and didn't eat.
I had a good overall experience but I complained about the blinds in the room as they were letting light through. Staff gave me another room which was kind of them.
I almost didn’t book this hotel due to some of the bad reviews. But I’m glad I like to make up my own mind so I went anyway.
I had a good relaxing stay in a clean Urban room. No complaints. I’m am spg gold member and yes the hotel does recognise this. However it does say I’m the small print when booking, that they do not upgrade rooms for spg (so don’t expect it but if u get it then that’s a bonus).
It’s the closet hotel to the Excel
The reception staff were courteous, listened to my needs and accommodated my requests. The live music give the lobby area a nice vibe, the food in the restaurant was nice with good portions. Breakfast was a good hot and cold selection.
The only problem I had was the pool was closed.
My husband and I spent two night at this hotel as we were attending an event at the O2. The location is great for the O2 and because of this we'll be back. The room was spotless, very cool and modern. I liked the green policy but was surprised to discover that opting to not change your towel also meant the room was not made up at all. Staff in the bar were great, the bar food menu was very basic and after a concert we could've done with a better choice of food. Staff at reception seemed a little inexperienced and we did not receive the 10% discount off bar food that we should have being SPG members and reception were unaware of this offer.
So overall a couple of minor negatives but we had a great stay and will definitely use this hotel again.
Cannot fault this hotel at all. Clean, comfortable, relaxing and friendly, what more could you want?! Perfect location for driving to with very reasonably priced parking and excellent links into central London. Stayed at this hotel more times than I can remember and I have enjoyed it every single time.
Good value accomadation. Decent sized room with a modern decor. Gym open 24/7 with reasonable equipment. Pool open from 6.30am, only 11 meters but not busy. Food and service in the restaurant was good. Would return when in the area again.
By far one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a while, topped off by having one of the best hotel restaurants I have eaten in too, had breakfast in the morning and then steak in the evening, it was fantastic. Easy access to the Excel Centre, you just walk out the front door and your there, perfect. Parking is also available around the back but I found the car park entrance easy to miss at first, you can pay for it on your room too at a discounted rate but that wasn't made an option in the car park itself, you have to go inside at the check in desk.
Stayed at the Aloft for six nights with companion in wheelchair, The room was comfortable, large and perfect for the wheelchair, ground coffee delicious, soaps smelled lovely. No shower caps in bathroom but got them from one of the hotel staff no problem. The check-in staff were very friendly and the amenities offered were almost first class. I expected it to be a good hotel from what I'd seen on-line, but in fact it was very good bordering on excellent. Swimming pool great, especially at night, and the hours it was open were good too - 6am till 11pm. A lot of security in this hotel with card keys needed to get into pool and also to your floor in the lift, but this is reassuring. If you want to meet someone in a room on another floor, however, you'd have to use the stairs.Could do with a clock in the swimming pool, I had to keep my watch on the side. But all things considered, the hotel was first rate, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others.
Overall, a good experience!
- Definitely ideal for young couples & for family with children in the age of adolescence. The lobby is a nice, airy, modern set up with great entertainment (bar, pool table etc.)
- Terrasse - cool set up (corona bar etc) but was closed the whole time although bright sunshine...
- The cleanliness in the rooms was not satisfying (sanitaries)
- Bathroom - the water of the showers ran into the toilette and there where no suspensions for the wert towels
- Equipment other - no storage for t-shirts underwear socks
Honestly absolutely lovely place. My main issue was the restaurant staff were frequently rude and uninterested - not something I normally care about but the food was hugely overpriced and a tip was auto added to our bill. Oh and the eggs for breakfast were uncooked.
I say this with a heavy heart as the rest of the place is beyond gorgeous. I genuinely wish I had only nice things to say as the rest of the staff were absolutely delightful, the live acts they had on the terrace were amazing and the pool was lovely. Just the restaurant that ruined it for me.
Have stayed here for a couple of nights prior to the Olympics. Location can be its strongest and weakest point at the same time: it is only 5 minutes by bus to City Airport, and has a DLR station next to it for easy access to the city. Yet, it is located in a post-industrial wasteland, and there’s absolutely nothing nearby in terms of shops or restaurants.
Yet, rooms are very modern, light and comfortable. Bathrooms are nice and I especially like the Bliss shower gel and shampoo dispensers. Nice well stocked magazine rack in each room, and good complimentary internet access.
The best thing about this hotel, are the communal areas: a nice gym, a great indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, and even a laundry room. The bar is quite cool as well. Onsite food options are very limited. Expect no upgrades for platinums, although the breakfast amenity is worthwhile as it includes 3 items you can pick from the self-service bar area.
This is a good, well-priced option for London with easy access to the public transport network, although if you’re considering any type of nightlife activities, this place is a no-go as it will involve a long and expensive cab ride back. Best for business.
Amazing clean rooms & pool! Nick was extremely friendly on reception & gave us another room (with a beautiful river view) when ours wasn’t ready! The whole vibe of the hotel is just amazing! Really good beds, comfy & extra towels provided when needed! We could stay forever! One of the best hotels we have been in! Please give Nick a pay rise!!!!
When I say perfectly affordable, I mean just that, the exterior adds excitement to the whole experience because as you enter you see the amazing works they have put in there. I was celebrating my anniversary with my girlfriend and could not …
Had an amazing time at aloft apart from sauna which was out of order, it should have been updated on the booking system, also the pool is a 1hour slot which is nothing, should have been alot longer!.
As a Starwood Lifetime Platinum including status in other chains so I have vast experience in immediately distinguishing what makes a hotel outstanding. I only write a review if the hotel is very bad or very good. The Aloft Excel supercedes all expectations. Its proximity to Canary Wharf makes it convenient for the business traveler. The facilities are just great and the comfort is excellent. What really makes the hotel outstanding is the attitude of the staff. Mohammed at the Front Desk who checked me in, and Jordy in the restaurant are but two exceptional individuals who manage to charge up a pedestrian business trip into perfect hospitality. Value for money, exceptional comfort, employees who convey wonderful hospitality. What more can you ask for in a hotel
Great staff, great rooms and great people. Stayed 5 nights and the staff was super friendly and helpful. More than willing to accommodate any requests. Room had a fridge coffee machine and everything I needed. Highly recommended. Stayed at Courtyard Gatwick my last night and wish I would have been able to get another night at the Aloft.
The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The room size was good with semi partitioned bathroom. The staffs and manager were very friendly and accommodating as well. Decent breakfast and gym area. Definitely recommended.
Very nice hotel. Very clean, modern and well located. Our room was quiet, spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Highly recommended and will use again.
One tiny gripe, the room aircon could be quieter. Other than a great, stylish hotel.
Bar one exception, the service at the hotel was without fault.
Very much enjoyed my time there, and will look to extend my loyalty program due to this experience. …
We booked the hotel last minute and were surprised to receive a free upgrade on arrival!
The app made checking in in advance so easy and we even got a notification that …
What I liked:
- conveniently located for the Excel centre and DLR
- nice vibe to the place, decor, colours etc
What I didn't enjoy:
- bathroom is not separate from the front door (there is a sliding door for the shower /toilet area... Phew!)
- breakfast was a bit average with a lot of paid for extras
- room service: order online or text message. Dedicated phone number should also be available. Order came in brown bags... Fine but would have preferred plates and a tray (next time I'll use an external supplier for a much lower price)
- storage space is very limited, clothes rail hanger not convenient
I have stayed here three or four times before and did not enjoy the experience at all. So I have not been back for a couple of years.
Well, the hotel has really improved, the hotel has a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and efficient.
The restaurant is so much better, I had a great steak and a fantastic cheese cake.
I walked to City Airport, took 15 minutes. Ubered into the city, cost 20 quid and took 20 minutes.
SO well done to the team there, I look forward to returning very soon to the property.
Slight niggle
Room not cleaned very well, on my second day, dirty coffee cups not cleared away. This in no way spoiled my stay.
R
The hotel was lovely and clean, the room was clean and the bed was very large and comfortable. My son and his daughter enjoyed the swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the Hungarian chap in the restaurant ( sorry did not get his name ). The hotel was super handy for the DLR which could be accessed via the 2nd floor. The only complaint I would have is the prices in the bar and then you have to pay an additional 12 and a half percent service charge. I know it is London but Costco and McDonalds and places like that are also in London yet there prices are the same no matter where you are in the UK, so come on Marriot group get your prices down.
Excellent location for the excel great rooms, bar, restaurant and swimming pool
Very lovely staff and accommodating as I am currently pregnant and they gave us a room next to the lift to save me using four flights of stairs. Rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable. Had a great night's sleep (much needed) and amazing variety of foods on the breakfast menu. Will definitely come again!
We stayed Saturday night at the Aloft. On first impressions, this place met all expectations. The staff were friendly and the place very clean. Good value for money. Unfortunately the steam room was not working which was disappointing but the sauna and swimming pool lovely. The breakfast was very bog standard, the usual stuff. Lots to do in the area. Definitely would recommend and will be going back for the whole weekend this time. And the Thai restaurant was lovely. Service let it down but the food yummy!!!!
I was surprised how nice this hotel was. I was attending a conference next door (at Excel) and picked the hotel because of location. But it was really nice. Large rooms, comfortable beds, easy access to public transport (DLR is literally next door), and no ambient sound. On top of that, they had most of the little things thought of. Decent laundry, pool, gym, etc. If I was flying into City airport for work, I would stay here again.
This is my second stay at this hotel
Sauna was closed swimming pool you have to booked (people from outside can use this swimming pool) …
We had a bit of worrying factor that a few days before our stay we received an e-mail informing us our reservation number was changed. We called the hotel twice to make sure that our reservation and the room rates were not changed. The …
Yes it was convenient for Excel, yes it is close to a DLR stn, yes the staff were friendly and yes breakfast was good, but...there is nothing else nearby and they take full advantage of this fact, coupled with poor maintenence and gloomy rooms. There are many better hotels at Excel West and East.
l stayed here because it was my company booking and paying for it. Suggest the Novotel is a far better option.
Everything about this hotel was perfect from the quality of the rooms to the cleaninless of the hotel. The staff were extremely polite an that is important to me. The breakfast was really good. The only negative feedback was the room was cold even though the the temperature was turned all the way up. I will definately be coming back.
We went for our anniversary and I’m so glad I gave it a chance! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and they really designed it well and especially when it came down to utilising the space! The pool was heated and lovely. It was right by the DLR station, but there was absolutely no signage to the hotel and we were basically surrounded by barriers. Therefore, we weren’t able to walk anywhere towards the River Thames, which was a shame.
Fantastic stay. I stayed for a triathlon and was allowed to check in early which saved me having to find somewhere to be for 6 hours with a bike.
The facilities and room was excellent. Clean and covered everything I needed. I know it was probably just for covid but i liked the coffee cups being ones you can take out with you.
The staff were also really helpful when I needed things stored after checkout and helping me to get a taxi when the roads near the hotel were closed.
I had a very stressful trip getting to and from the triathlon, but the hotel stay was a great experience.
Fantastic hotel, great location if you’re attending the 02 arena just a short hop over the river via the cable cars 🚠, the staff are lovely, the receptionist who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming, pool, gym and sauna are incredible best Iv seen in this of London so far, very clean and modern can’t wait to come back.
This hotel is in the perfect location for anyone taking part in the London Marathon. Easy access to the Excel and easy train links to Greenwich Park for the start. On the plus side, the room was clean, tidy and well equipped. On the …
This was my first time staying at Aloft, the hotel is situated in a perfect space to attend events at Excel London and the tube is literally a 3min walk through the hotel to Excel. Staff are welcoming & friendly, I saw cleaning done at regular intervals. The hotel is reasonably priced & the interiors are really nice. Fancy floors with colorful ceilings and some rooms have a great view to the waterfront. The bar & service was great & friendly. Definitely will visit again.
Had the best experience in a hotel ever and I travel a lot! Spent a night here for my mums birthday, I went by 12pm to drop off balloons as check in is at 3pm. They allowed me to check in early to set the room up, they upgraded the room and also gave food on the house! The hospitality and service is unlike any, the staff really go all out to make sure you had the best stay. Big, spacious rooms with all amenities, good view and comfy beds. They accommodated to all our needs, will definitely be back!
I have stayed many times at the Aloft before covid and I found myself there for 6 nights at an event at Excel recently. The rooms as always are modern and great. slept like a log and getting to Excel is fantastically easy. However the restaurant and bar are terrible. Whilst breakfast is good (do not ask for porridge though) the evening meal is just awful!! They would have had me captured for 6 nights but after one meal in the restaurant I never returned.. The downstairs bar is closed but appears to open only for functions or open days of events at excel (i guess its staffing issues). This leaves the bar in the restaurant that lends itself as being no more than a meeting place before heading off to somewhere more appropriate to drink or eat away from the Aloft.
Family break with teenagers was brilliant the hotel staff were very accommodating, breakfast was amazing and the staff even made our daughter hot chocolate to have with her breakfast! …
Good hotel for Excell, easy accessible by car and DLR. Stramlined building. Nice spacious rooms, good bedding. But, very poor breakfast for the hotelstandard(one of the poorest coffees i ever had) Very bland food. Lifts are insufficient, so loosing time guaranteed!
Nick, Marie and Rish were very helpful during our stay. We arrived late one Friday evening in August 2021 after booking last minute. Rish helped us get an adjoining rooms (we're a family of 4).
The hotel is spotless and all the staff we met were super helpful and friendly. The gentleman in charge of breakfast was always very helpful too and always had a friendly chat with us. The breakfast was a bit expensive but was always tasty and fresh with excellent service.
The DLR station is right next door with quick access to central London, Greenwich, Canary Wharf and QE Olympic Park.
I didn't expect SUCH a nice hotel next to the venue for a trade show! Great room/bed/shower, with lovely staff and a great bar... and the gym and pool/steam room are a must! Looking forward to staying again!
Four of us friends booked the savvy suite. The room was cosy and the layout was very nice. It did not feel cramped at all. The staff are very warm and welcoming. It's a very quiet area so good for a nice relaxing break
Since I discovered the Aloft London Excel Hotel, I have never stopped taking my family for our short weekend holidays. Am always impressed by the serene environment, beautiful setting (sea front location), great facilities, clean rooms, …
Our stay was excellent and enjoyable. The facilities were impressive, the suite was very clean and the staff were very courteous, responsive and professional.
Wifi was erratic in the rooms but overall it was a memorable experience and i will definitely stay here again in future.
Hotel was great and in a great location, room was nice and modern and clean. Pool was a great addition and quiet but we used it on the Sunday morning and hotel was quiet aswell. Only downside was cost of drinks and breakfast so we went to …
This is a lovely family hotel with a great pool, funky dining and bar area, helpful staff and really convenient location for DLR. The room we stayed in was large with great views and an incredibly comfortable bed. Big screen tv's and a large shower were another bonus!
I travelled to London along with my stepson to attend the recent EGX event at the ExCel.
We had booked a room 2 weeks before we travelled as the other hotel we booked nearby had cancelled our reservation due to the hotel deciding to close around the duration of our stay.
The Aloft was reasonably priced for our 5 night stay.
Upon arrival to the hotel we were impressed at how close the Aloft was to the ExCel and how close it was to the Prince Regent DLR Station.
At check-in, the staff were pleasant and informative regarding food and facilities.
Upon arrival to our room, we were taken aback by the size of our room and the size of the single beds.
At some hotels you have to ask for the likes of an iron, ironing board or a hair dryer to be brought into your room, but in our room they were all there as well as the usual kettle, a safe and a small fridge, which was handy for one of my asthma meds.
During our stay, our beds were very comfortable and housekeeping was excellent. Room clean and tidy upon arrival from our event.
At check out, again the staff were polite and friendly.
If there was one small issue, and I'm being picky here, is that my stepson and I had a few gadgets in the room, ie mobile phones, ipads, laptops and watches, but we struggled to charge all our devices due to only having one double socket, a single socket and a USB socket.
Next year, we are coming back to the Excel to attend next year's EGX event and we will be definitely looking in to booking a room again at the Aloft.
I've been to a few different hotels around London in the past, but the Aloft ExCel has most definitely been my favourite.
If you're going to a convention at the ExCel, the Aloft is a wonderful place to rest your head for a few hours between presentations and partying. The staff was super accommodating and the rooms are quite lovely. Not much to be done about location, as you're already nowhere close to anything so just take Uber or the Tube if you want to get to London proper.
Stayed here before my flight back to Malaysia. Affordable price for spacious room, great facilities - gym, sauna, swimming pool and just next to train station.
Amazing service. The hotel room was beautiful and so was the view. It was much bigger in person than it looked in the photos so we were pleasantly surprised. Will definitely come here again.
It’s a good aloft. If your stuck going to the eXceL center which is like the middle of nowhere, this is the place to stay. It’s attached to the DLR train and the convention center. Downside, a lot is still closed due to covid. If you want a bar and food, what they have is one, that is average. The doubletree is better for food and drinks. (Though the doubletree rooms are tired and old). The aloft rooms are typical aloft rooms. Nice, smaller, but clean. Dealing with the front desk, which is why I’m dinging a star is constantly a project. Everything, and I mean everything seems to require massive interaction with their computer and domes several computers. It’s like the scene out of the movie meet the parents when he is at the airport reservations counter. Also don’t bother trying to call the front desk. It’s like they leave the phone off the hook. Anyway , nice stay overall. I would go back given the alternatives in the area.
Really nice quiet hotel away from the hustle and bustle of London! Really made me feel relaxed as the hotel wasn't busy either. Lovely clean room on the top 8th floor, not a bad view of Canary Wharf and the olympic village either! Nice modern Samsung TV with a personalised welcome greeting message in your name when you walk in.
I didn't get a chance to check out the pool unfortunately! But they were very flexible when you can book as there were plenty of slots available throughout the day up until 11pm which is great! The spa and sauna I was told though unfortunately! Probably best to wait a few months for this to reopen after renovations on these facilities if this is important to you!
Staff in check in and check out weren't too bad either, they answered all my questions with politeness. I wouldn't say a particular staff member went over and above for me though however hence why this is a 4 star review but overall no complaints!
Fully facility of free swimming, spa ,gym within hotel premises and pay parking.
I loved the Docksider restaurant.
Very comfy, my room had a great view across the docks. Breakfast was first class.
I’ve been here before and keep coming back because you get value for money here. The gym, pool, steam room and sauna included makes the stay even more delightful. Currently the steam room and sauna are out of use. Aloft have followed covid regulations and feels Covid safe because they have a booking system which allocates guests according to the timing available which limits the amount of people in an enclosed space. The hotel room is spacious and bed is comfortable. Close to DLR and Royal Victoria where you’re able to get the cable cart over to the O2
My favorite hotel at the moment. Will definitely come back here. So beautiful and such an amazing service. Had to pay £70 as insurance when checking in, but it was refunded back right away during checkout😊
Excellent hotel. This is walking distance from the Prince regent station. Helpful and friendly team.
This must be the best hotel for people visiting the Excel.
Will definitely be coming back.
Good value, rooms could do with a bit of a refresh. Staff were friendly on arrival despite the storms going on. Got to the room and the blinds were broken and couldn't close. Just an FYI the bathroom sink wasn't separated from the room. The toilet and shower had a non closing door and definitely not sound proofed. Great value, clean rooms.
Pool was nice, breakfast Okey.
I didn’t really like how the room was made, the bed was not really good.
Didn’t get any attention for my bday... …
Amazing experience. My wife treated me to a night here and everything has been 10/10. Super friendly staff who will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great and the rooms are spacious, clean and modern with lots of very nice touches with a great view. The included breakfast was also great and even better the guy serving it. We had a great stay at an amazing price in such an awesome location! Thank you for having us!
Great hotel in a wonderful location! Quick access to rail, quiet, and excellent amenities. Definitely a go-to spot for any future stays in the area
Decent hotel with good facilities. Our room was quite a walk from the lift, felt like forever.
Really nice hotel with great facilities and location. Only downside from my experience was the pool was split into two as another class was running, which was fine but about 8 of us had to share the remaining small strip. Slots had to be prebooked so don’t understand why so many were booked into that slot. Think it should be a maximum of three/four if it’s being split. Other than that we would definitely return
Nice clean and spacious room comfy bed
Fantastically friendly and helpful night team and cleaning staff .
Would definitely choose to stay again
Stayed for one night for the Beauty show, convenient for excel. Disappointing menu, had light bite, not impressed so didn't bother with ordering a breakfast.
Good hotel located next to Excel. Clean rooms and onsite parking for a fee. Easy place to stay if you are attempting an event at Excel
Great place to stay. Hotel was very nice and clean, and all the staff was friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend this hotel
Impressed with the way this hotel has handled COVID limitations - the thoughtful enhancements to breakfast boxes were fantastic, and it was helpful being able to keep fit in the gym with the hotel's way of booking it for individual use for limited times, housekeeping available in rooms at times convenient for the guest (who needs to be out of the room when it's being serviced). Provision of amenities on request (robe & slippers, bath amenities/toiletries, etc) was a really nice touch, often seen only at "higher" brands. The guest services manager, Daniel, has an absolutely "we'll get it done" approach in ensuring an excellent experience for his guests whilst also doing an excellent job of looking after his amazing staff team, they were always ready a smile and such a positive attitude to their work.
Aloft hotel was a real delight from start to finish. The whole experience was relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable. The staff are wonderful, superbly trained and attentive. The rooms are contemporary, clean and very well maintained. The pool was beautifully warm and deeply relaxing and the location is exciting with views over the Albert Dock and City Airport a short walk away. We visited some local cafes which were great for breakfast but we also ate at the hotel in the evening which was great. The outside bar area is gorgeous. Thanks Aloft - we will definitely be back again.
Perfect for what we needed - a one night stay before the London Triathlon. The room was very clean, quiet and the beds were super. It was right next to the ExCel centre too - this minimised any stress on the day itself.
Aloft Hotel is one of the beautiful Hotels next to excel London. Me and my family Experience/Stay at Aloft was amazing I cannot complain the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Marie. Marie went over and beyond to exceed our …
Lovely room, cot for little one was a bit old and tattered. Tried to use the app to order a few drinks and it didn't work as the bar staff said the order didn't have a room number or matching name on it. Breakfast was incredibly disappointing, well over an hour to arrive and when it did it was cold. Moving to a seated service is understandable but they were completely understaffed.
Swimming pool is nice but the one way system doesn't work.
lovely hotel and loved thefact that our room was ready to check in early. friendly staff and the hotel was very clean/
From start to finish the staff were brilliant . Speedy check in . We were celebrating my partners birthday and the staff put balloons in the room and wrote a personalised message on the mirror . Made us feel very welcome. First time visit ,will not be the last . Close to the DLR. Docklands are a Lovely classy relaxing area of london
We arrived a day after the London E-prix and had to go a different route towards the parking lot. We went out for the evening and walked along the riverside on the way back. With the track breakdown still ongoing the security guard by the …
This hotel is ok not the best I've been to food is ok not exactly the best. The room was nice but alot of young people stay here and it looks like a student accommodation to be honest. The shower gel and shampoo was the cheapest.
Worked here as a waiter and all the staff were all welcoming and warm hearted, Luigi was the best, thanks for the amazing experience.
A good hotel. Strange policies when it comes to deposits for the amount that was spent and takes a while for the deposit to be put back in the bank.
Had a lovely stay at Aloft facilities where clean and of a high standard, however some of the staff members attitude was questionable rather rude…but there was another staff member who made up for that and helped make our stay even better, had it not been for her was willing to leave the hotel as receptionist was very rude
I thought overall the hotel was of a really high standard for the price that was paid. Great hotel, nice facilities like the gym which I used and a swimming pool. It would’ve been nice for the restaurants to be open for longer hours but there was a nice little snack bar area you could use. I would certainly recommend it but I think it would be better to have longer dining times. I had to go to another hotel to get something to eat at 3 o’clock.
Everything else was actually excellent. The location is great if you want to go to the convention centre but not so good if you want to go to the centre of London for shopping and so forth. Technically you can get there in reasonable time but if you are a tourist you probably would want to be going into the West End which takes a little bit longer.
I would certainly stay again if I was going to the convention centre. I think the hotel is better than some of those in the near area.
Brilliant hotel for the money , massive rooms , coffee machine in my room , broken lamp and door so almost perfect , highly recommend
One word... Luigi, the bar and restaurant manager. Extremely customer orientated, and made our stay great, bent over backwards to assist us. Thanks luigi
Butyfull please hot plas of london this plas have one history old port of london their have hotel Emirates chair left river close too 0 tooerina and much more
Superb hotel. Interior design was classy. The hotel is basically next to EEC London.
Comfortable rooms. Helpful staff at both the front desk and the restaurant. Loved the pool. A very satisfying experience.
Excellent hotel - very close to Excel Centre and DLR into central London. Very reasonable prices and the staff and accommodation were exceptional
Absolutely everything you could wish for in a 4 star hotel. Polite courteous staff who are happy to accommodate your needs. Comfortable beds, choice of pillows will aid a fantastic nights sleep. Rooms were modern and clean with plenty of space. You won't need to ask for anything because they've thought of everything, down to the mini ice bucket and prong.
Only very small complaint is the entry into the pool area was slightly confusing as there are no staff directing you. There are however lockers and towels provided and the pool is lovely and warm. Also the drinks in the bar are expensive so be careful not to get caught out buying rounds it will cost you an arm and a leg!
Overall I had a fantastic stay and will definitely be going back again.
It was a good place to stay but maybe rotate the menu and get sone other snacks in for the shop
We had an issue with funds being taken that shouldn’t of been taken. The manager was excellent and sorted this straight away. The staff in the restaurant were so attentive. Food was fantastic.
The Hotel was nice as were the staff. I think in terms of the atmosphere at the hotel, it lacked any excitement whatsoever and the rooms had a lot of splatter on the doors and walls.
Could have been better. We arrived and checked in easily, however the staff didn’t seem like they wanted to engage in conversation. We were told breakfast was just one English breakfast plate so declined, but later told it was a buffet. We had to change rooms due to having one side of an interconnecting room and hearing next room bit too loud. The rooms were good and beds very comfy. Shower was also very nice. We also booked the swimming pool and spa which was relaxing. We were given a key not knowing where to get changed or how to use lockers, we were clueless. We had to ask what to do and given a short explanation but still didn’t understand because the lady was in a rush so we left our things in our locker without it actually being locked. And 1/3 lifts was working! The communication from the staff could have been better because it was lacking.
Great hotel at a very, very reasonable rate!
Super friendly staff, clean and modern rooms and top facilities. The room had a very comfy bed, good pressure shower and a good sized TV.
We had 2 minor issues on our stay which could happen anywhere and these were both rectified by the staff within minutes.
The hotel is a minutes walk from the DLR station for getting into Central London.
The only thing that we were disappointed with was that the sauna wasn’t working when we went down but sometimes things break.
Will definitely look at staying here again next time we are down London way.
Basic along the lines of some of the US Marriott hotels, but extremely comfortable and an excellent friendly staff.
The hotel in general and the room were stylish and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and the whole process was easy. Swimming area is small (inc pool, steam room and sauna) but well kept and a nice addition to any stay! There wasn't an …
Stayed at aloft hotel for my birthday and had a really nice time, really nice hotel and nice location
We booked the Aloft hotel as it was close enough to central London at only a fraction of the price. The hotel was great! Beds are comfy, black out blinds helped us get a lie in. Shower was great and the room itself is spacious and modern …
The hotel was a really good price for London and very close to transport links to take me into the centre of London. The room was large, clean and had great amenities including a phone charger, hairdryer and shampoo & bodywash meaning I …
Comfortable room and extremely helpful staff. If breakfast is included in your deal then great breakfast otherwise a bit pricey.
Nice bar and pool. Parking was convenient and easy to get to the DLR and Underground.
All in all we really enjoyed staying there and will book again.
I have to say the room was nice, great bed, nice shower. We had a 7 night stay while on a sightseeing trip of London. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is far from central London which means riding a train and multiple underground lines to get anywhere! Not bad but must really plan ahead. The housekeeping staff left a lot to be desired. We asked for a top sheet for the bed and instead of making the bed with a top sheet they just left the top sheet in the room. They missed one of our clean jdays altogether(we chose the green option On some days). The service was slow and the food was mediocre in the restaurant. One morning we just wanted to sit and have a cup of coffee and we were told we couldn’t do that. The place was not busy so did not understand that.
A very nice stay indeed. Stayed at Aloft for an event at Excel.
Really quick check in, my room was upgraded to a suite for free, with full …
Couldn’t ask for a better hotel experience, facilities are outstanding aswell as the staff. Had no issues with communicating with them and have a overall friendly vibe. Will definitely be coming back
Great Marriott hotel near LCY and Canary Wharf. The staff were friendly and put us in a room facing the river / airport, upon request. Easy parking behind the hotel. The area is dead on weekends and the restaurant has limited hours so bring your own snacks / eat before you get to the area. Would happily stay again.
Great hospitality, clean rooms and amazing dockside views from the hotel.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Aloft Excel. I was emailed personally by the front desk staff before my stay and was able to mention that we were celebrating my husband’s birthday in London. We arrived past midnight but the …
My stay at Aloft was absolutely incredible and completely exceeded my expectations. I was left speechless when I walked into our suite on the top floor. The room was beautifully modern, clean and spacious. The sauna, steam room and indoor pool area was super relaxing and intimate. The perfect choice to surprise my boyfriend on his birthday - we loved it and would return in a heartbeat!
Friendly supportive staff. Such a gorgeous hotel with many works of art to look at. Very unique! The room was gorgeous, clean and super quiet. The bed was so comfy, I don’t think I moved once.
This is a beautiful, chic hotel. It's not quite a traditional hotel, and I noticed the staff wears jeans, allowing for a note relaxed feel in the hotel. The rooms are very spacious, and they even have one Europe mainland outlet in each room, which is helpful for travelers. This hotel is connected to both a convention center and a train station, which means it's great for convention-goers and travelers looking to take the train. I highly recommend staying here, as the staff is very friendly, and the hotel is wonderful.
I always stay for 4 days for London MCM - and I'll continue to do so. Phenomenal experience as always.
One of the best hotels I have been to in London, the rooms were much bigger than expected, room service was spot on every day, always nice to come back to a refreshed room. The pool was great, and the staff were very helpful with any queries we had. 100% recommend and will definitely be visiting again
I love this hotel and have visited every year since 2018 but this year the service was poor. We got treated with less respect than others possibly because of our age which is disappointing considering we were still paying guests.
Reception staff - not helpful nor friendly. Breakfast was great. Location was convenient. Room was spacious. Please be aware that most of the rooms seem to be connecting rooms. Thus might be a good place to stay if you are traveling with your family but can hear the sound from other rooms such as coughing and the sound from TV even when a connecting door was shut. Gave me a wrong bill upon checking out. Automatically charged to my CC without me checking the bill and consent
Would highly recommend. Beautiful views. Right next door to Prince Regent station and Excel London
Large, comfortable rooms, with all amenities, programmable aircon which was good as I don't like the room too warm, very large bed and plenty of storage space. It's a two minute walk from the eastern entrance of the Excel with plenty of parking. Service in the restaurant was rather slow considering it wasn't busy, a sirloin steak served with a garlic bulb, a sprig of garnish and about 20 thin chips was £26 and was nothing special but then, I suppose that's London prices for you. Staff pleasant and polite.
Excellent hotel with fantastic food service. Found the front desk staff I interacted with a little scattered but they could have been new. Otherwise the over all experience was a positive one.
Also it's worth noting that when you ask for the concierge to book you a taxi they use a chauffeur service which costs a fair bit more than a black cab but the quality of the experience (bottled water, in seat massage etc) is worth the price.
Absolutely lovely place!
Really enjoyed our stay, perfect transport links into centre of London. With lots of lovely staff, clean and spacious. The swimming pool was lovely, not too cold and a very nice surprise with a steam room and sauna!
Breakfast was average.
Don’t be put off by next to the airport, you can barely hear them from your room and they are very fantastic to watch take off and land!
Definitely would stay here again!
Visited for a quick lunch bit ended up staying longer to enjoy a delicious meal and dessert.
Most amazing place the staff are very friendly and the steam and sauna
Good business hotel. Practicality of the room design could do with addressing - no towel hook in the sink area, no mirror in the main room meaning I couldn’t watch the morning news whilst getting ready. Comfortable bed, nice outlook from the room, extremely close to the DLR and Excel. Overall, a good stay.
Very convenient for Excel visit's. Spacious well equipped rooms. Large shower. Wardrobe slightly small. Comfortable beds. Each room has an iron and ironing board. Quite modern. Very quiet. Can't hear roadways, airport or railway.
Decided after my second stay to a grant 5 star status. As listening to others speak of their nearby hotels, Aloft is certainly the best for us. Although it's still difficult to tell staff from guests. No dress code seen in reception.
Staff friendly but lacking warmth. Lack of clear directions in foyer for first time visitor's.
Would I stay again. Yes definitely, for the quietness and room quality.
The rooms are big and clean. The service is a bit slow. The location is very convenient as it is next to a DLR station (2 minute walk).
The gym is 24 hours and the pool is nice and warm.
The check in was pleasant and the check out was simple. The rooms just need a little more amenities.
I will definitely revisit this hotel, it was a pleasant stay.
An extremely clean and modern hotel with large comfortable rooms with large comfortable beds. Staff were very attentive and polite and went the extra mile when there was no requirement to do so. I really appreciated the care that was taken to ensure we were looked after and would recommend the hotel to all. We will certainly be back in the future.
Stayed here one night with my daughter for convention at Excel Centre. Fantastic welcome from staff who were very efficient and checked us in and took our bags so we could go off to the convention. Never had to wait for service at reception …
Generally a decent hotel but would be best suited for a business stay. Rooms are spacious but quite stark. I found it strange that only one complimentary small bottle of water was given for 2 people in a room. My gold status was never mentioned except digitally. Great pool and decent gym. Good value for money overall, just not very exciting.
