I always stay here when we need somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay and is always lovely. We have now made friends with Jeff who hosts us every time we stay. He always makes sure we’re comfortable and helps out if we need anything!

Quite little place. We got exactly what we paid for, a place to stay the night.
I can't understand why they'd be cleaning Bathrooms when guest are getting ready to go? Surely it would be better to clean after we'd left. I suppose there's a method in the madness, but we found it inconvenient.

Me and the girls always stay here when we come to london, Jeff is an amazing host! We absolutely love him.

Really frieny staff, nice room with a lovely little balcony and free parking in London... for that price you can't really complain. The decor left a little to be desired as it was very dated, but if you're looking for a no frills, cheap stay in London then this is the place for you... and if it's good enough for Kraftwork then its good enough for me.

Your standard hotel, nice garden, Clean rooms!

A cheap and clean hotel near Seven sisters road, with everything basic that one needs during a short trip when you don't stay much in a hotel room. Friendly staff and a very nice garden where you can see a fox coming sometimes. I stay there often when I am in London and recommend it to those who prefer not to spend a fortune on a hotel room.

I came here with two of my friends to see the sights of London. We were aware that this is a budget hotel, maybe even a hostel (because we booked online), but we were very pleasantly surprised. We got a warm welcome, although due to an unfortunate delay on the Tube, we arrived after the official check-in hours.
The house is nice and clean and our room (a triple basic room) was small but very clean and nicely smelling with the fresh bed-linen. The rooms with the windows into the garden are very silent, so you get a good night's sleep every night.
The shared kitchen is well equipped for some small cooking and always very clean. The shared bathrooms with toilets are also clean, although in the morning the floor is wet, because as everybody takes a shower water gets splashed and trodden all over the floor. Two of the bathrooms had no window and were ventilated just with a fan and thus had been steamy at times.
The garden is great to sit with friends and a couple of pints in the evening and the hotel also has its own house-cat called Thomas who loves to pet and cuddle.
Transport to the center is easy. It just takes a 3-4 minute bus ride on the 253 or 254 bus which will take you to the Manor House underground station and from there it is around 20 minutes on the tube to the center.
I see nothing wrong about this hotel. At least for young people who just want to sleep good and will spend most of the day running around London's numerous sights.

Really don't know what some reviewers are on about. Staff excellent and very friendly, place is spotless though some bits are a bit worn and tired (for Gods sake, it doesn't try to compete with the Ritz!), my single room was big enough for me, clean and comfortable. Would definitely use it again if needed.
A great find.

We booked a triple room with en suite bathroom. It was quite spacious, it had a nice sized wardrobe, a mini fridge (Which was so useful!), plenty of storage space to keep clothes and belongings, a full length mirror, tea/coffee facilities and a television. The communal kitchen was so convenient and never too busy. The spacious garden was lovely to sit in the sunshine and to watch the friendly cat that lives there!! Whenever we had any problems with our room the staff were always there to help, and were very accommodating.
We did have a problem with the toilet on the first day but that was soon fixed and sometimes we had trouble with some channels on the tv but we weren't too fussed. In all, we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend staying at Amhurst Hotel. We hope to stay again next time we visit London.

I found this hotel for my father and sister for their summer vocation in London. My father had a basic room which he was extremely happy with as it was light and airy and clean. He also loved the massive garden which he didn't believe would exist in a London budget hotel..! My sister also liked the friendly family run atmosphere and will stay at this hotel next time she visits London.

Can't complain for the price. Jeff was super friendly.

Stayed for 1 night as was in London for a show in Kentish Town. Access to Kentish town is easy with direct route on one bus about 20 minutes.
Hotel is clean and the man that checked us in was friendly and well spoken. Was helpful with suggesting is the bus to take.
Not the most well equipped hotel but for the relative price and for a short stay is very adequate

We've stayed two times in Amhurst Hotel and we really liked it. It's a great, quiet and cheap hotel. Its location is good, not too far from the middle of London. You have great conections such as a undergound station and many bus stops.
We stayed in differents rooms each time, and both were great. They have new furniture, a small fridge, a kettle, sink, TV and fresh towels. The bed is comfortable and has clean linens.
We choose a room with shared bathroom. The bathroom was always clean and never busy. The shower was also clean, new and nice.
In the main floor you have a big kitchen where you can cook as you were at your own kitchen. You can use all of the kitchen stuff. If you're lucky with the London weather, you can eat in the garden, otherwise you have a room with chairs and tables that you can use.
The staff is really great and kind. Jim is always willing to help you and solve any problem you may have and he always try to make you laugh!
We're sure that we'll come back to Amhurst Hotel next time we visit London!

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and showed us to a clean and compact room. A smoking-friendly balcony was included, and added value to the already very reasonable price of the room.

I stayed at armhurst hotel in December 2012 with my wife and my son for 7 nigths.
After reading some terrible reviews I doubted my choice and was a bit afraid of what I was going to find. So I hope this review is accurate and may be helpful.
The hotel is old and some parts may need a refurbish, but the place is clean. Rooms are very different from each other, and there are many layouts and decorations in the hotel. Common areas are cousy and clean.
There is no breakfast service, because it is a self catering hotel. This meant that I could shop a Sainsbury (5 min walk) and cook my meals as if I was at home. The room had a fridge and a closet, so it was easy to store things we had bought.
We opted for a room with no bathroom. There were two WC with showers and another WC without showers in the floor, there were carefully cleaned everyday. Towels and bed linen were changed once in our 7 nigths stay. Which is what I expected from a 1 star hotel.
The hotel has an excelent location. It is 5 min from Stamford Hill Railway station which will take you to Liverpool Street station, were there are bus services to Stanstead Airport. Across the street from the hotel there is a bus stop that takes you Manor House tube station in Picadilly line, which will take you directly to Heathrow airport. Buses connect to Camden Town, Euston and the London Tower. Wood Green is close by, and has many shops. Walking to Manor House takes 15 mins.
Stamford Hill is not the most atractive part of London, but it is very quiet and I felt it was very safe. The hotel is in a Jewish neighbourhood, were residents will mostly go about their one business and ignore you.

I often stay here when working in London for a few days. It's not fancy and seems to have perpetual interior decoration work in progress, but it is clean, quiet, comfortable and 20 minutes by train from Liverpool Street Station, so amazing value for money.

We needed somewhere cheap in London when seeing the new Zach Braff play (excellent btw!). Amhurst was tonnes cheaper than other places we looked at and as we were going to be out most of the time we didn't need anywhere fancy. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs and comfortable after a long day out.
We had dinner in London (good job really as this hotel is self-catering) but the kitchen area allowed us to make breakfast in the morning. Shops are just down the road. Didn't have any problems with anything and would stay here again. Recommend you get up early and beat the rush for the facilities if you dont have en suite.

For a lonely traveler, like myself who wants a room to themselves but a friendly atmosphere I would strongly recommend the Amhurst Hotel. The staff are very friendly, are always up for a chat and willing to help as much as possible. The rooms are clean and there is free wifi and a tv in each one which is a bonus. Just try them and see what you think for yourself.

So I didn't expect anything. At least, the staff are nice and helpful, if you don't mind calling them 'mate' once in a while. Instant password to bond with working class men!
There's no clearly designated reception, so at some point you'll come accross a stairway to a basement where the staff lurk - that's where they are. Just go straight down there, and don't be put off by the fact it looks like a workshop, because it is, but that is their reception. If you don't mind them blowing smoke in your face, and like I said, call them 'mate' and they're very helpful.
There is internet in all rooms, but it hardly ever worked for me. The signal strength is good but I just couldnt' access the net. My laptop never fails to connect to a correctly configured wifi hotspot, I've travelled a bunch and never had problems with it, so I suspect their setup had a fault.
The rooms.... are.. pretty awful. If you have any kind of standard, I'd say avoid this place. Personally I just had to get the cheapest possible so didn't have a choice. At least I got clean sheets. Neighbouring guests suprisingly quiet. There's even a cat!
Very conveniently you have a Stamford Hill rail station 30 seconds away, it takes you straight to the City (Liverpool St). Otherwise you can take the 76 bus, a five minute walk away.
For comedy value, this is a jewish area and it's absolutely hilarious to see them in their traditional frocks, oversized furry hats and women that all look like clones of one another (even the little girls!).

I really hate London but this place has got to be the best I have stayed in so far. It's cheap, beds are comfortable communal kitchen and garden. Staff were friendly.

As probably one of the cheapest hotels in London, you get what you paid for really. Easy stay, you can use the kitchens supplied for heating food. Great.

The room was so clean, but bathroom was so bad. We couldn't use hot water. I used cold water to clean my head in cold winter night.

Fantastic place to stay, very good, helpfull and friendly staff. Use the kitchen or take a short walk to the shops and cafe. Easy access to the city with bus stop one minute away. Just take the bus to Finsbury park for Victoria or Picadilly line to the centre of london or hop on the train from Stamford hill station.

Stayed here for a long time ,great staff

First of all I just want to say IM NOT THE OWNER :-) and I'd like to address some of the previous reviews the hotel is £45 a night for a twin and under £40 for a single in london this is a fantastic price BUT for £45 the accomodation is going to be basic you arnt going to have your room made for you each day with clean sheets and towels what you do get is a bed a TV and a roof over your head.
If your going on a long holiday you'll love the facilitys you get a Fridge in your room big enough for beer and a couple of days of food a LCD TV with FreeView Kettle and Sink, You get a communal dining area downstairs with a Kitchen for your use complete with utensels gas over and hob microwave, snadwhich press and toaster and a really really good garden to enjoy a drink in the evening.
For the money this was the best value stay i have ever had thanks Amhurst Hotel :-)

Friendly and helpful. The building is a little tired and old-fashioned but it's superb value and I won't stay anywhere else in London.

Our stay was good; actually better than good.
We were upgraded without asking and no extra charges. Everything in the room was functional except there was no lock on washroom and we were fine with it.
The guy who checked us in was friendly.
Only problem was the smell of smoke when you enter the hotel and I think the staff can be moody. I mean he was super good to us but I figured that might not be the case with everyone. Anyway, I am giving 4 stars only because of the smell; everything else was fine with me.

(Translated) Some equipment is rudimentary, however, a very warm welcome, a small room but not too much (ideal for a weekend), a good plan for the wallet. In addition, the bus is at the end of the street on the left and the underground on the right. It may not be perfect but for the price in London it's worth a try!
