Reviews of Ashburn Hotel

The Ashburn is a small, boutique hotel located a 2 minute walk from the Gloucester Road Tube station. We chose it for the location, and it absolutely delivered- we couldn't have had a more convenient place to park ourselves for the trip.
We got a great deal on the price- and we knew going in that the services and amenities were pared down since the pandemic. However, we didn't realise just HOW pared down they would be. The website advertises "all the facilities you would expect from a prestigious new 4-star hotel" but the truth is there are no amenities at all. There was no bar, no restaurant, no breakfast and no maid service. Oh, and the lift was broken as well. Definitely not a 4-star hotel.
With this in mind, the beds were incredibly comfortable. The room was small but clean and nice enough. The staff were friendly, warm and as helpful as they could be. The wifi was great. We really enjoyed ourselves and can't complain, as we knew going in what we were getting.
Choose this hotel if you're looking for an affordable, NO FRILLS stay in one of the best neighbourhoods in London. (Though you could probably stay at The Holiday Inn next door for the same price and much more service - but much less character).

My wife and I stayed here in September and we were pleased with its presentation, the hotel and the room was immaculate. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and went above and beyond when we reported an issue with our air con which was leaking onto our clothing. Clothing was dry cleaned, air con fixed immediately and we were given complimentary wine for our trouble.
The staff were all excellent, especially the man who I think owns / manages it (I forget his name).
The room had a very comfortable bed and had all you need for a short stay.
The hotel is located 5 mins walk away from Gloucester Road underground station and has a bus stop right outside it. The Natural History museum is not too far away either.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed at was the lack of bar or kitchen being open when we were there, however, the aforementioned kind man at reception apologised about that and gave us a list and a map of places nearby to eat, things to do, and what to see.
Overall, a lovely stay in a nice hotel with staff who know what excellent customer service is. We would stay here again. Thank you Ashburn Hotel!

A beautiful classic boutique hotel, located in Kensington.
The service from Sara as reception was impeccable, and is good reflection of the hotel. She was kind, helpful and eager to be of service. It was tops.
It really made a difference toward my perception of the accommodations.

We stayed here last weekend for one night and had a really lovely stay. We were welcomed by Sharom who was very friendly and able to offer us advice on places to go in the area as well as places to eat and drink nearby. Our room was really nice - it was clean, the bed was big and comfortable, everything in the bathroom was great. Location was also great, it's a really nice area and so close to the tube station. Thanks for such a comfortable stay, we will definitely book again.

Very nice staff who did their upmost to make our stay enjoyable and were clearly dedicated to their guests. If you were considering one of the other bigger hotel chains nearby I would encourage you to try the Ashburn instead.

Hotel was kept up and very clean. Staff was amazing and very helpful.
The location was great, not in a too busy area and only a 4 minute walk to the underground as well as restaurants and grocery stores.
The only thing was the breakfast, most things were complimentary except mains (eggs, Bacon etc.) Other than that I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in central London

I loved my stay! The entire place was so clean and everyone was very nice and probably one of the best breakfast I had from a hotel. I highly recommend and your so close to the tube that it’s easy to get anywhere you need to.

Great location near Gloucester Road tube station, although on a main road wasn’t too noisy. Polite and friendly staff, room was good size, clean and well appointed. Continental breakfast was fine, you have to pay additional for anything cooked, it’s a small room, with a queue at peak times. Overall recommended for price and location.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Ashburn Hotel. The staff was very attentive and accommodating, always ready to help. The hotel was clean and neat. The bar area and sitting room was a pleasant place to enjoy a drink in the evening. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. I look forward to returning to this charming hotel.

We were very happy to return to London and of course stayed again at the Ashburn Hotel. Staff was very helpful in everyway with all kinds of arrangements from tourism to room choices for our family, including an upgrade. Breakfast that was included in the price was good. Genuinely within walking distance for mature visitors.

Excellent room, very helpful staff, good bathroom items provided, free WiFi. Room is comfortable, good size and with a modern, clean bathroom. This is not a place with a wide menu but I knew that on booking. It has a great location and the price was most competitive. No gripes at all, for the price this is a wonderful hotel made better by the friendly, supportive staff.

The Ashburn Hotel is a 3-4 Star hotel in South Kensington. The rooms are nicely done and more than adequate for short stay. The staff is excellent, friendly and helpful.
The location is easy walking distance to the NS and VA Museums. If you are a serious walker you can also walk to Kensington and Buckingham Palace (Done together a 6 mile round trip). The Metro is two blocks away. The area is avery nice and safe and there is a market nearby.
Continental breakfast is free in a nice breakfast room. It is perfect for what it is. The breakfast room is small and fills up on the hour so I suggest arriving at quarter till to ensure you have a seat.

Extremely friendly staff, very clean rooms. Easy check in process. Great location! Would gladly recommend them to everyone travelling to London. Walking distance to hyde park at very reasonable rates. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!
T. M.
On arrival it seemed ok, room very small even though it was an upgraded room. After trying to get in to my room for a good 15 minutes the receptionist decided I should sleep in a different room as the electronic lock was obviously broken. …

Good overall place. Good location small but cute rooms. Worth paying a little more for a bigger room. Breakfast area is very small and the tables could be bigger ideally. The breakfast is 12.95 for what you'd consider normal everyday food. Stay with the complementary continental or go McDonald's it's cheaper and tastier.

I was only in London for one night but staying here was nice experience.
Great position for that side of London, tube is 2mins walk, and that is 2mins! Natural history, Science and V&A museums are one stop away or a nice walk.
The hotel it's self was situated in a beautiful building with a bit of character that makes it a refreshing change to the usual 'chain' hotels.
Staff were great and the room nicely furnished, although overlooking a busy road, the soundproofing in the rooms was excellent.
I would go back if I'm staying over that side of the city.

We were very happy with the size of the room (large for London) and the position of the hotel which was very close to the Gloucester Road tube station. Location was perfect to catch the metro or the city buses. Concierge was wonderfully helpfulclose to several sightseeing sights and tube stopwe were very pleased.
J. N.
Great location, staff is friendly and ready to assist. Amenities are bit dated but it's been well cared for over the years.
For us we just wanted room to sleep, shower, shave so we could be out and about in London. For this purpose it worked well. Close to the tube, some pubs/food/grocery
As such this was our second time saying
T. M.
The location was great with a tube-station just around the corner. The hotel is located in a safe neighborhood and has some dining option nearby, as well as a supermarket and drug store. The attending hostess was quite pleasant of receptive to any needs we had. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting London.
P. R.
Keenly priced and well appointed rooms, small but to a good overall standard. Some marks under blacklight, especially in bathroom, which was disappointing, however headboard and bed clean and comfortable. TV system is getting a little old now, but is functional. Location good for museums, Natural History is closest, followed by v&A and science museum, based on same street as Harrods, but affordable local shops. By and large, a good little hotel.

Had a great stay at the Ashburn Hotel. Hotel staff members were very helpful and really cared. Great location, clean room. Did not have breakfast, but there are many bakeries nearby. Loved the Ashburn Hotel and would definitely recommend!

To the Ashburn Hotel and the outstanding employee’s.
I had a wonderful time during our stay from 2-19-2017 to 2-22-2017. The Hotel is immaculate and very well furnished with fresh flowers and great ambiance. This was the truly London England cultural experience in a wonderful and modern renovated original building. The staff was so friendly and helpful that I thought I was royalty. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience.

The room we stayed in was small (as expected) and clean. The staff were terrific. We had no room keys so if we wanted to leave the room together the next morning we had to ask reception to let us back in. Natural History Museum and Royal Albert Hall only a few blocks away.
T. M.
Perfect location nearby restaurants and the underground. Excellently priced for London and friendly service for the entirety of the stay. The Ashburn used to be the best place in London with an amazing staff. We are so happy in selecting the Ashburn and would certainly return when we come back to London.
J. Y.
Decent size and clean room. Convenient location and friendly staff. Although continental breakfast included is simple without much variety but it's sufficient and the quality of food is above average, came with a selections of cheese, ham, cereal, fresh fruit, dried fruit, juice, coffee, tea...
E. F.
Very positive experience, Shahram at the reception was excellent, thank you very much again!!
T. M.
My father and I stayed at the Ashburn last May and it was absolutely amazing. V&A & Natural History Museum are a 10 minute walk. We waited only about a half hour for our room to be available after I asked the receptionist if we could check in early. A quick nap got us adjusted to the time change and ready to hit the streets.
T. M.
The hotel has a great location close to the Gloucester Rd tube station. The gracious van driver was prompt and delivered us to Waterloo Station in time to have coffee and a breakfast sandwich before mounting the train to Southampton. Location was close to a small grocery store, bus stop and subway.
T. M.
We stayed a week here and the hotel staff made us feel special the entire time. Our room was a Superior Double. The room was large by English standards. Good overall choice, will probably come back at the next occasion if I need to stay in the area like this time.

Absolutely fabulous staff very friendly and helpful even left a complamentry birthday card and chocolates . The room was air conditioned lovely bathroom room spacious clean and cosy . Breakfast room very cosy clean and staff serving were lovely . Well worth a stay . From Deborah lunn and conway .

Cozy, clean rooms. Great staff. The heated bathroom floor and mirror were a nice touch. Continental breakfast had enough variety to fill me up. Housekeeping leaves nice surprises.
T. M.
Hotel is just a short walk from Gloucester Road Tube Station. GEt an oyster card at Heathrow underground visitor /ticket center and top up as you go. I asked for a quieter room but was told there were none available. Complimentary newspaper was left outside our door in the morning.
H.
Lovely rooms. Nice bar and drinks in the evening of good price. Breakfast a bit sparse but tasty (continental). Great location for the tube.
T. M.
Ideal location for Harrods end of London. Its location, close to Gloucester Road tube station is perfect for visiting the V&A Museum. A little farther and you're on Kensington High Street, full of places to eat and drink. I shall definitely stay again when I'm next in London.
P. B.
Quiet relaxed style! Accommodating staff and clean comfortable rooms. Check-in was a breeze and they welcomed us by name as we came the the entrance.
T. M.
Room a little on the small side. The reason for my 4* rating is the price which I think is too high for what is offered. To all the amazing staff at the Ashburn, I am most sorry. All of the staff were very attentive and polite. Location is good.
M. B.
Extremely pleasant. The hotel has a beautiful decor and is spotlessly clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.
J. C.
Great location, restaurants, pubs, museums, grocery store and tube station all with in a short walk. Rooms are very nice and booked at a good rate. Good reviews from Expedia and TripAdvisor.
T. M.
Very good house keeping service. The hotel room is clean and comfortable. However, the wash basin in toilet which flowing water is very slow.
J. K.
Room is wonderful. Staff is polite and very helpful. Relaxing and comfortable. Good food. Perfect location close to transportation, but not too busy. We love it.
N. C.
Sharam the concierge took care of all my needs at this lovely little hotel. Just the place for a single woman to be looked after as carefully as any husband would want.
B. B.
We love the Ashburn. We stay here each time we're in London. Elegant rooms and wonderful breakfast. Nice having elevator, too.
N. N.
Very close to Gloucester road station. Clean and spacious room. Breakfast had a good selection.
A. A.
It is quite decent hotel but their breakfast was below average, it doesn’t worth it to be included in the package.

Hotel and staff are great, rooms are nice but dated only thing is that you have a to pay to watch TV.... what a joke.

A lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were extremely helpful.

We had a two night stay at the Ashburn Hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. We booked it because it’s really handy for the Royal Albert Hall, on a direct Underground line from King’s Cross station and it had really good reviews. We had a really nice large room and felt that we were really well looked after by all members of staff, who went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. A special mention to the lass in the breakfast room who was just a delight! Talking of breakfast, the continental breakfast spread was excellent. Really nice. There were also cooked breakfast options you could pay more for, but by London prices I thought they were very reasonable, not at all rip off prices. The same could be said for the whiskies in the lounge for a night cap. It’s a relatively small hotel, but all the better for it. Our room was available earlier than we thought so we were allowed to book in early at no extra cost, they looked after our bags for us for free on the day we booked out, and we were even given a complimentary wine each on our first evening.
All in all, a really nice hotel in an excellent location near the Royal Albert Hall and the big museums. Easy to get to, great staff, nice atmosphere.
We will most definitely return.
Just as an aside, we had a fantastic meal literally on the other side of the road at the Thai Taste Restaurant!
Thanks to all at the Ashburn for making it such a memorable visit.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in, definitely in London! The room was clean, spacious enough. The shower took some time to figure out because it has a few settings you can put it on between the two shower heads - it's lovely. The staff is great and helpful. It's quiet, I slept so well. It has thick blockout curtains. There wasn't any breakfast because of covid but that didn't matter. Everything was great.

Personale gentilissimo e disponibile. Colazione ottima. Situato in una posizione ottimale per raggiungere luoghi d'interesse (Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Kensington Gardens) senza uso della metro, io e mia sorella siamo tranquillamente arrivate anche fino a Buckingham Palace senza prenderla!
Hotel consigliatissimo!!!

(Translated) The location is great. Breakfast is quite good, but kept very small (unless you pay an extra charge). Rooms are okay, but the bathroom gives off an unpleasant smell. Overall okay, but expected more for the money

(Translated) Good location, good transport links, exceptional furnishings, delicious breakfast, nice staff
Location:
Located directly on a main road, but in a good area. In the immediate vicinity is among others a Waitrose where you can buy everything for everyday use. Kensington Palace can be reached on foot in 20 minutes.
All other sights can be reached quickly and easily by underground. The next station is less than 5 minutes away.
Room:
Our room was big enough. Unfortunately, the state of maintenance was only sufficient. A few parts in the bathroom were broken or stuck. In return, the staff were very friendly and we had everything we needed. Even air conditioning, which was really great at 32 degrees and made for a good night's sleep. Our room was on the upper floors and at the back, so we didn't notice much of the main street.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately there were no eggs. You had to order and pay extra for this, although breakfast was included and should be intercontinental.
Conclusion:
But by and large we would come back.
(Original)
Gute Lage, gute Verkehrsanbindung, aussergewöhnliche Einrichtung, lecker Frühstück, nette Mitarbeiter
Lage:

(Translated) The least: the entrance to the hotel is not really on Cromwell road (street very frequented by cars) but Hasburn road
The plus: solo party the room was very good with very good bedding. Nothing to say about cleanliness, decent continental breakfast (very small breakfast room) and very good location. Not far from the natural history museum which can be visited on foot and even from HARRODS
(Original)
