I. D.We have stayed here before and liked it and wanted to have two proper beds in the room. It is a great hotel where nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are great as well and set you up for the day. Great location too for where we wanted to go.
J. B.My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and experienced both positives and negatives. It was across the road from the tube station so easy to get out and about. Cleanliness was good and rooms were basic and comfortable. However, the rooms were not soundproof at all. There was some major construction work going on outside and so you woke up to hammering and drilling each morning. The hotel must be on a route for emergency services as you heard sirens all day and night so if you are a light sleeper, this hotel is definitely not for you. You had to book a slot for breakfast which was good to avoid overcrowding in the restaurant. There was a good selection ranging from fresh fruit to pastries to a full cooked English. On both days the breakfast at best was luke warm. The staff on the first day in the restaurant were not very friendly but those working on the second day were much more approachable and friendly. The check in and check out was quick and efficient. We made the mistake of venturing into the bar the second night and found the price for what we ordered (a single G&T and a house red wine) extortionate. £20 and the wine was like vinegar!
C. R.Nice hotel, very modern, rooms well presented, nicely designed and clean . The location next to the tube is excellent too. My only gripe was that a new tower block is under construction right in front of the hotel currently. For most people it may not matter as building work is only between 8.00 and 17.30. However if you plan to work or sleep in your room between 8 and 5pm, it could get annoying.

A.I went to the Clayton Hotel the night before my wedding. We had a very pleasant stay which started with warm welcoming from Mr. Dos Santos (from Portugal). Our bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. The Hotel is very modern and we also enjoyed quality of our meals. The young lady who looked after us during our meal was extremely attentive and I regret forgetting her name. Everyone we came across was very welcoming and professional. I recommend the Clayton Hotel highly.
C. W.We are currently staying here on vacation. The staff at the Clayton were welcoming and friendly. The rooms are very clean, quite spacious, and there are some nice touches like a Nespresso machine.
However, the bar is dreadful and way overpriced. We ordered a glass of red wine and a double gin and tonic (my partner couldn’t even taste the gin. There was so much tonic and melted ice that it was basically ice water). We waited around 15 minutes for the cheque and it came to over $40 for two sub-par drinks.
Stay at the hotel. Avoid the bar and grill.
N. C.Nicely appointed hotel. Coming from the north the bar prices are a bit scary but nevertheless it was a comfortable stay. The Air Con in the room wasn't co-operating, but the place is very clean and the staff are very friendly.
T. H.Really impressed with this hotel. I stayed for one night with work. The room was compact but well designed with dark, sophisticated decor - the was a space for everything. The bed was very comfy and the shower powerful. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with plenty of space for my own table (that felt important in covid times). The gym was modern and well equipped although too warm - that was the only niggle on the whole stay. I'll definitely be back.

Rooms do have a dark, slightly cold and industrial feel to them, but they are spotless and comfortable.
Given the construction work just in front of the hotel, do ask for a room facing the opposite street.
L. T.From arrival to checking out the team were super helpful, I lost my purse in the room somewhere, it had gotten stuck behind the curtain. I was so upset as its a nightmare to change all the cards etc, the team must have gone looking for it straight after I checked out and half way home I received a call letting me know that my purse had been found and would be sent securely by post asap. So grateful!

L. S.Really lovely hotel in good position for Aldgate station. Value for money is excellent. The room was clean and nicely decorated and didn't hear any noise from other guests (just from an alarm out in the street which is not the hotels fault)
There were a couple of niggles but they got sorted straight away but there was quite a long wait for our cooked breakfast (40 Mins) considering there were only about 8 other diners. The staff are lovely though and would definitley stay again.

Raj was really helpful and kind and another gent whose name we didnt catch was really supportive. Thank you for decorating the room for the proposal and making us feel so welcome and comfortable. The room and everything was amazing.
M.My hotel stay was very comfortable. The room was clean and tidy, enough space for 2 people- Facilties were good including the tv (connecting to youtube etc....) Reasonable pressure with the shower. We did sleep well and the bed felt nice.
The room didn't have a balcony or windows. So getting some air was difficult. The breakfast got cold very quickly and not much options.
T. W.Brilliant hotel in a fabulous location. When I first booked I was prepared to be disappointed, the photos make the hotel look wonderful and the location is so good that I didn't believe that it was available for such a low price, seriously there were air bnb rooms nearby advertised for more.
When I arrived I was so happy to see that this hotel lives up to its billing. Very well decorated throughout, the room was compact but had everything I could have asked for. Great bed, excellent shower and toiletries.
I will be back for sure!!!

A. M.Overall not a great experience. Our room was very dark and dinghy, room service was non existent, we had to request water 10 times before we finally received it. The worst part of the experience was breakfast, it took about 40mins to get served and when we finally did everything was either wrong, dry or cold. You also had to ask multiple times to get a drink brought to you. All the customers seemed to feel the same way and the tables next to us were also disgruntled.

George the night manager did all he could to help and arranged a replacement meal the following night including drinks to compensate, couldn't fault his attitude, nice to see.

We went for afternoon tea and brunch. Food nice but, I actually found the portions very small. The scones were very nice, freshly made and still warm, just too small!
A. D.I've stayed at Clayton Birmingham and Clayton Cardiff, so had an expectation in mind. Excellent hotel, clean, good covid measures, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Hotel provided a travel cot and even dropped hot milk up to the room for us. The staff were always smiling and friendly. Only thing letting this hotel down was the breakfast. We arrived early for breakfast, so it was quiet. But the service was really slow, didn't explain we had to fill our own drinks, and the food was over cooked. The breakfast staff were not as attentive as the rest of the hotel staff.

L.I only used the restaurant, the restaurant was OK, the staff were friendly, I am only giving it three stars because the Restaurant's Maitre D' left us waiting for a very long time, despite being aware we were at the door, he kept ignoring us, and when he finally acknowledged us, he still went away without attending us. The waiting staff were polite and friendly, the food was OK, neither bad or great, it was of acceptable quality, albeit the prices seem a bit high in relation to the quality.

R. G.I stayed at Clayton as a surprise for my birthday. The room was pre-decorated as part of a birthday package. This was a wonderful surprise! The room was beautiful, hotel had a very cozy feel to it.
Breakfast was delicious, buffet style which was even better, although you could still order stuff.
Hotel reception were fantastic, couldn't have thanked them enough for sorting the room out.
The only thing I would recommend is another hot drinks machine in the restaurant, would speed things up a little.

S. B.Arrived there at 2pm on 11.09.21, where stated on website check in from 2pm. Got into room finally at 15.35pm. No apology, and key just given to us. Thank you to Chris the maintenance man for unlocking our sink, great customer service, and to the lady in the bar area for fresh milk, as milk in the room was off.
Breakfast, was chaotic with no explanation that you could order items off the menu.
The actual help yourself breakfast was good.
Tables very close together as well.

The building work and road block currently makes it harder for a quick stop to drop off and deposit luggage before parking and coming back to the hotel for check in.

A.Lovely afternoon at the Clayton. We booked an afternoon tea with Groupon which was brilliant value for money and the amount of food which came was pleasantly surprising. Only downside was the wait for the food and the lack of staff attention. Struggled to find someone so we could collect our final bill and pay. Other than that an extremely enjoyable afternoon

J. H.We stayed here 25th-27th Sep for our Daughter's 18th Birthday celebrations in London. The staff went above and beyond to help make it extra special for her. Chocolates and a card were in her room. We had a complimentary glass of fizz sent up to our rooms ( thanks Rachel on reception) At her Birthday breakfast we had the best table reserved and even had champagne flutes for the orange juice, all the staff made a fuss of her too. Couldn't fault anything and will definitely return.

It was my birthday and they wrote me the most beautiful birthday card, gave me a free shot of tequila and there was a plate of mini cakes when I arrived.

We had a couple of issues with the room but everything was dealt with very promptly by the very helpful front desk staff so it did not impact our stay. It's a great location and a modern design too. One thing to note is that the bathroom(shower) is not entirely private and the door is see through. This was not a problem for us but may be for others. We'd definitely stay here again!

T.My second time staying at this hotel. Good location in the heart of the city with a underground station within walking distance which has links to most parts of the city. The check in process is very welcoming & the staff are very friendly. The rooms are very clean and are kited with TV’s that have chrome cast so you aren’t stuck with only the hotel selection of tv channels, you are able to cast from your devices to the tv in your room. The bathrooms are always clean and the shower is amazing!’my only fault this time round was that when I made a coffee, one of the disposable coffee cups in the room had already been used but not disposed of and it looked as if the kid was just changed on it.I understand this could of been a mistake but it was still a concern as we were told by reception our room had been expected and it has a seal to confirm that it is covid secure. Apart from that, I would highly recommend this hotel, the price per night is very affordable and very good value for money

D. H.I would like to express my deepest gratitude to lovely Julia and a receptionist, who worked on Saturday morning on May 16th. Those girls really helped me out with the reservations and check in. I was staying there after the surgery. My recovery went well, thankfully fantastic and empathic reception employees. They deserved all 5 stars as 'the Best employees'.
The allocated room was aboslutely perfect for me and the comfy bed was the best during my stay.
Hotel is very nice and all employees are the best ever. The location is perfect, just 2 min walk from the Aldgate station. There are many nice places around the hotel, where to eat, drink and visit. I preferred the hotel restaurant, which is very nice with a cozy atmosphere and a very nice, empathetic and professional waiter.
Overally, my experience was an excellent, especially when having health problems and need a change of mental environment.

D.We had a really good stay here. The rooms are very nice and new, good amenities and kept in good condition. We arrived around 10.30am on our first day to drop our bags - the receptionist (who was lovely) managed to go one further and check us in early which was a really kind thing to do and was appreciated. Location is good, close to Aldgate East and the Tube but in a relatively quiet, helping a great nights sleep.

Michael, the Food and Beverage Operations Manager, probably served us the most but that doesn't detract or reduce the service we got from everyone else. My apologies for not remembering all your names. As as for the food the chef cooked - wonderful.
This was a recommendation and I can see why. As for staying again, absolutely and will recommend on to others.

m. m.Love the rooms, the decor, the design, the functionality of the rooms are excellent. A shower to die for. Only issue is the telly-difficult to master.
M. S.My partner and I stayed at Clayton for one night to celebrate our anniversary, on 21/8-22/8, the same dates as last year. The hotel had very clearly made a massive effort to make the experience as accommodating and great as it could be within the limits of safety in terms of COVID-19.
We received a lovely card and chocolates from the staff which made the both of us feel very valued. Front staff were just as amazing as last year.
The buffet breakfast had to be transformed into table service for safety reasons- this is absolutely understandable and we were glad to see the safety of staff and guests being paramount- hand sanitiser is available at every corner of the hotel.
The room seemed to be slightly dusty and there weren't any toiletries in the shower like last year. Hand soap and towels were provided as well as a hairdryer, ironing board and two small bottles of water. The bed is perhaps the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Bathrobes would be a lovely addition to the room.
The table service was somewhat disappointing. We asked for the Full English without any of the meat (as we're vegetarians) and were first brought plates with sausages. We then notified the waiter who proceeded to bring us what the dish with no meat but also missing the baked beans and butter supposedly included in the dish.
As long as the breakfast is served table service style, I'd suggest offering a fully vegetarian version of the English Breakfast. This would make the experience better for vegetarians as the hot food choices were limited to an option of beans on toast.
All in all, it was a great experience largely due to the attentiveness of the front desk staff as well as the very kind staff member who served us for drinks at the restaurant on Friday evening. Some extra focus at breakfast would be wonderful but frankly we can't fault Clayton for much at all this time around.
We look forward to coming back in August of next year!

C. B.Stayed at the Clayton for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. Staff was very helpful, the room super nice, comfy bed and warm too. The shower is amazing! Great pressure and the design is great! Had dinner and breakfast, and both meals were really well priced. The only thing that wasn't the best was the noise, we were by the elevators and you could hear the elevator and people. There isn't good noise cancelling through the door. I will stay there again, the hotel is central and great value for money!

R. B.This was our first trip to London in a long time. From check-in to check-out and everything in between, the staff made it a great experience. Dinner and two breakfasts hit the spot and with the nearest tube station, Aldgate East, less than 50m from the hotel's front door, it was a great base for exploring the city. The hotel is a new build and the master suite we had was as good a room as we've had in any 4 or 5 star hotel we've been in to date. This new hotel with staff like Michael and Sham at reception and their colleagues in the bar and restaurant has a great positive energy and it is something we hope to see again on our next visit to London.

Scummy people hanging about the side of the hotel but they seem to have added security the next day. Good eating places around there . Gym was fairly minimal and only adequate. Room was quiet and the bed good. Cheap atmosphere in reception, trying hide the fact it's a budget hotel by trying to be boutique?

S. S.Upgraded to the Executive double room due to the trip being for a special occasion, this was a lovely touch and the room was amazing. Nice decor and spacious room in a nice area with lots to do in the evening. Would 100% recommend and stay again when I'm in London.

To begin, we were celebrating our first anniversary pandemic style, so we decided to just have a night away together in a hotel. I had contacted the hotel inquiring about dinner reservations and wonderful Lizzie upgraded us to a suite for our anniversary. Rachel checked us in and was incredibly lovely, helpful, and kind. We felt completely welcomed. Heading up to our room, the hotel was clean and adhering to all Covid restrictions. We felt completely safe. Entering our room, we found it to be amazing! We had slippers, robes, the comfiest bed ever, chocolates and the sweetest card welcoming us to the hotel for our celebration. We enjoyed the room so much, we ended up not going out as much as we thought we would. To top it all off, the food in the restaurant was out of this world! Our 3 course dinner came with the groupon and it was more than we could eat. My husband had the fish and chips and he loved them (which is no easy feat) The highlight of our experience at the hotel was from an employee name Leydie. SHE WAS FANTASTIC! Being American, I have found that customer service is not the best in London. People aren't as willing to go above and beyond. Leydie was not only attentive, but she was witty, smart, funny, and a joy to speak with the entire night during dinner. We even popped in for drinks just so we could continue to chat with her! She is the shining star of this establishment! Anyone who is considering to stay here, do not hesitate. My husband and I don't have one negative thing to say about the hotel and STRONGLY recommend it. Thank you Clayton Hotel for making our first anniversary memorable.
D.Stayed for the one night. It was nice but I think it's worth less than £100 for the size of room. A more "this is nice" vibe but not a wow factor. The shower was very nice (my favourite bit) and bed quite comfy with nice TV. Staff seemed friendly, room was clean. Just one negative: I could hear water flowing through pipes, which must have been from showers from other rooms. I would consider staying here again.

M. S.A really good night's sleep. The curtains are heavy and so the room was pitch black, quiet on the 5th floor. The food was good, I only had a pastrami sandwich followed by lemon meringue tart. Service was very good, couldn't fault it. The breakfast selection was also good, lots of choice. Would definitely stay again.

There is no escalator so keep that in mind if you have any heavy luggage. Use Liverpool station instead. Brick Lane is a 5 minute walk for abundant restaurant choices. The greatest attribute of the hotel was the team of staff. Always helpful and attentive. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

The choice fell on the Clayton City of London and the choice could not be better. New hotel, clean and spacious rooms with wooden floors, nice and attentive staff, excellent restaurant too, where we had dinner one evening. Finally the location, located 100 my from the subway, from which you can reach Piccadilly circus in 20 minutes! For us it was a pleasant surprise, we will definitely be back!

I would stay there again if I was doing business in the City or that part of London.
My only concern for the near future is the huge building site planned 20 ft outside their front door which will be a big ...noisy ....long project. Might be worth asking before booking in case it's not highlighted by the hotel.

Plenty of fruit and juices. You could have a full English breakfast or waffles if you ordered them. Check in and check out is super easy.
Reviewing the past comments from others, the rooms aren’t that small considering it is London (Try going to New York!). Easily enough room to walk around. The shower is sooo spacious and water goes down fine. The staff provide a bathroom mat for your safety. There’s even a hair dryer and an ironing board. You can hear some noise coming from outside of the room if there is a person talking outside of your door but isn’t that normal? I feel some of the bad reviews come from petty people/ over exaggeration as I can understand where they are coming from but it isn’t actually as bad as it is written.
Overall I think this is a perfect 4 star hotel if you want luxury but aren’t willing to splash too much cash on a 5 star hotel. Brilliant value for money, especially for London! Check out their deals online as they are handy.

I would like to share my great experience from the recent business trip to London & stay at your hotel. I was absolutely overwhelmed with the kind and professional approach from the reception , the bar & restaurant staff. You made me feel very welcome and a very special guest.One person in particular captured my attention. His name is Patrick Steed, who works at the bar as a waiter and bartender. Patrick treats every customer & guest as royalty. He not only serves meals and drinks, but approaches everyone with exceptional kindness and incredibly professional manners. He is educated and sure knows how to use that in his interactions with guests. He talks to the guests , asks about their meal, wishes, interests, etc. I asked him one day to sit at my table for a short moment since I wanted to ask a question. He sat down only for a split second to immediately get up as soon as he realized that another client needed his attention.
I think he has a great potential when it comes to customer care. I am not sure why a person like him works at the bar. I would rather see him at the reception, in a management role or customer care.

A. W.The room was better than hotels in the same area as I’ve stayed in a couple around the area of Aldgate East station for business. The 2 things that that bothered me a little was that the shower leaked into the toilet area and that the tissue paper was jammed into the boxes making it looks like that it was “refilled” and not from the original box. As such questionable cleanliness. Also the cleaning staff was quite noisy starting 8:30ish am in the morning.

B. v. M.Nice recently opened hotel in London city centre. The underground station is just 2 minutes away and takes you to the heart of london within 15-20 mins. Breakfast is good and the staff is really friendly, also the room is equipped with a small fridge, a safe and AC. Bathroom is spacious, though missing something to put stuff like your clothes e.g. on.
Feedback:
We had a room suitable for 3-4 adults, which we shared with 3 adults. The beds were only 140cm wide though, which makes it quite a snug fit when sleeping with 2 regularly sized european adults. So one of us had a spacious bed on its own, where the other 2 had a snug fit.
Like stated before there a no real shelves to put your clothes on in the bathroom, had to put them on the closed toilet seat.
Bathroom has a shower with a rainshower head in the ceiling, water pressure is so low though that this is not really usable.
Also the "normal" shower head fixture is fixed to the wall at max 180 cm, which makes it difficult to stand under it when your 180cm or larger. Which is quite normal for a european male. Not really thought through.
J. B.I stayed in the Clayton Hotel, City of London for 2 nights for my Girlfriends 25th birthday. I booked the room over a month ago and had been speaking with Michael McIntosh who was incredibly helpful and most probably one of the hotels most valuable assets. Michael had arranged flowers, a bottle of prosecco and chocolates to be in the room upon arrival which was a lovely touch. The room was stunning and i can not speak highly enough of the bed and the dressing gowns.
Unfortunately I did encounter a lot of problems from this point which staff didn't seem to keen to help me with. The first problem I encountered was the noise - I was woken up at 5am on the first morning from the sound of drilling or hoovering along with the noise from people outside of our room. As our room was right outside the elevator, the noise was quite frequent and I was woken up very early, unable to get back to sleep on both mornings. The second problem was the elevator, we entered the elevator and were unable to get out once we had reached our floor, I rang the alarm and still no one seemed to be aware that we were stuck, it was only when another guest on the outside of the elevator pressed the button, that the doors opened. due to being so tired with the lack of sleep, we stayed in most of the Saturday it was then I noticed the Chrome cast (offered in all rooms) wasn't working. I tried to speak with staff about this and was told that because the hotel was new i shouldn't expect everything to work. I thought this was a terrible response and just poor customer services all round. Both mornings we ordered tea to our room through room service. the first morning was lovely, unfortunately the second morning we received half the tea for the same cost and one of the mugs was stained with lipstick. The staff didn't seem to want to be there at times, I would find myself standing at the reception desk waiting whilst the staff would all huddle in one corner as id they hadn't seen me, one guy even looked at me and then continued to read a piece of paper. I was very disappointed with my stay in the end and if it wasn't for Michael then I wouldn't have given 3 stars.

S. “. W.What a fabulous hotel! Rooms were spacious and luxurious! I could have stayed 20 stone in weight and still got in the shower it was huge! One downside, after a long day at work I needed a shower and the water was freezing cold and did bot heat up at all (lose one star). The area (whitechapel) is a bit rough (as in dirty and marginally dodgy) but the hotel is literally on the opposite cornwr of a crsosroads from the tube station so you get to see the area is a bit ugh but you'll make the hotel without any problems. And once inside the hotel you'll think you're in a posh part of town anyway.

Super comfy bed and pillows. Surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants. As the hotel is off the main street is also very quiet. Highly recommended.
· I particularly didn't like the check-in process. Was a long queue, one of the receptionists were very slow asking questions that I´ve already answered when I've booked the room. Also, she didn't explain nothing about the hotel because "wasn't the time for check in yet" so when we came back, later on, we had to repeat half of the process because the other recepcionist couldnt find our reservation.

Little touches like complimentary water every day, and lots of USB ports for charging devices made the stay comfortable and easy. C. B. H.I Stayed here for a long weekend in mid February, the staff when checking in were extremely helpful and welcoming. The room itself was lovely, immaculately cleaned and superb view over london ( we were on the 9th Floor). There was a flat screen in the room that played TV or that you could link up your phone up to and stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube etc which was perfect for the late evenings in the hotel room. The food provided in the hotel was also amazing, we used room service twice and the service was efficient and well priced. The location of the hotel is spot on, there is a subway station across the road, although I used Uber I can imagine this would convenient for those using public transport. At the most, it was 30 mins in the car to the big landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, The Shard, London Eye etc. Due to return to London in July and will definitely be staying here again.

Tv has chrome cast so you can cast netflix from your phone to the tv if you want. The staff are so lovely especially the bar staff who made us cocktails and chatted with us while we sat at the bar - didn't try the food but it looked lovely and smelt even better! You dont get alot of natural light in the rooms as the windows are tinted but the light fixtures ensured the place didnt seem too dark - you get complimentary bottled water with the room aswell, there's also a fridge and a tea and coffee making facilitiy with biscuits you can dunk (they were really nice too!) - you're right round the corner from a really nice up market cafe called 'Grounded' so if you're looking for some amazing breakfast with instagram worthy pictures that's the place to go. (There was a que for grounded when we went but the service is SO quick that you don't wait long). The hotel does offer breakfast too if you want to have that before getting ready for your day. I honestly could not fault my stay here and would love to come back.

Breakfast was the only issue we had, we had to wait a fair amount of time to get a table, they had a lack of staff and the tables where just not getting cleared, the staff are a bit grumpy, apart from the English lad on reception, he was was very helpful.
